Early check in enabled a beautiful arrival ... Well located ... Friendly and accommodating staff
Warm welcome and help during night arrival.
Third party parking underground was terrible! Location is ideal and breakfast was adequate. Rooms are comfortable and as expected.
Small room, but clean and decent value.
Alles super
One of the best hotel I’ve stayed in yet.
As a couple, we stayed for one night. The hotel has great location; parking garage being right next to the entrance of the hotel. Receptionists are very friendly; and the room is simple and clean. Air conditioning is working well and also quiet. The mattress is a little bit on the hard side but bed covers are fresh and nice. I am overall satisfied with the stay.
Friendly and competent staff Room in good shape and location Very good value for money
Optimal für City Tour
Great service, as always. The price is totally appropriate considering the central location of the hotel and the rooms were clean.
As always exelent service, thanks to Mathias to make my stay so welcome, Danke an Mathias und das ganze team absolut 5*****
Tolles Hotel
This was my second stay at Motel One Cologne Neumarkt. The staff are friendly, the hotel is clean, comfortable and in a very convenient location. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.
I had a great stay - room was very comfortable and clean and the hotel facilities including breakfast were great.
It was a good stay.
It was a friendly, clean experience. Staff helpful with the area.
very beautiful hotel and nice breakfast
Great place to stay . Heaps of restaurants and a subway nearby
Alles super!
Overall, my Motel One was a pleasant stay, as usual when I stay at Motel One properties. Like many hotels, Motel One speaks of its sustainability practices, but provides little information about recycling, for example. Are the trash bins in the rooms sorted for recyclable materials? The paper cups provided in the bathrooms should be replaced with reusable cups.
Alles top….
It was fine. Rooms were smaller than I expected for the price that I paid for a night.
Everything was nice and the hotel is quite comfort and has a very good location. The staff is also kind and helpful. My special thanks to Sarah and Yaki!
I like the hotels from the Motel One chain. This time the bathroom wasn't clean.
Many thanks to the all staff especially to Şahin who is the best receptionist ever. The breakfast was great as it should be at the "all Motel Ones". The location was great we had a chance to stop during the day. If we come again to Cologne surely we will stay here.
I came back to the hotel after a full day of sightseeing to find the door to my room insecure. The door scrapes against the door frame, preventing it from shutting properly, and not locking. It requires physical force to pull the door into the locked position. I complained to the man at the reception desk and he assured me it would not happen again and that he would discuss it with housekeeping. The next day, I returned once again after another full day to find my door slightly ajar again. This is totally unacceptable. My belongings were insecure for 2 days in a row now. I made another complaint and was given a free drink and breakfast. That does not however change the bad experience at this hotel.
The hotel was very good. Clean, great service, our room was ready a lot before our check in time so we didn’t have to leave the suitcases and wait, we just got the rooms which was nice. Breakfast was very good as swell
Excellent value and good location.
Nicely designed hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. The common areas were beautiful and I wish I'd spent more time there. Room was nice with a comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Compact and lots of good use of space. We lacked a kettle or coffee, however, which would have been nice.
The hotel is nice and the staffs are very friendly. We will definitely stay in Motel One again.
Alles top!
Nice hotel, good location, friendly staff, but I missed a watercooker in the room
Top!
Alles prima
Even the room was very small this time, each & every wish was fulfilled for a motel one member.
Great location if driving to Cologne. Room is small but has everything required. The only thing we missed was a welcome bottle of water in the room
Everything was very nice, except the mattress that was convex-shaped to where it felt like I was going to fall out of the bed.
The reception staff are welcoming and were able to resolve a technology issue with the television one afternoon before I returned to my room. I also appreciate accommodating my room request made in advance. The entire team including door security handles the Karneval days superbly. Only wish would be for a small in-room mini-fridge during a summer visit.
Everyone on your staff was so helpful and friendly. My wife had broken her ankle before our trip so I kept bothering the bar for ice and they could not have been more accommodating. Great location especially for Karneval too. Not a 10 because the rooms are so small but that could be my expectations as an American!
Tip Top
We always book the Koln Neumarkt for our yearly business trip, and we all enjoy our stay always! People are super nice and helpful, rooms are clean and cozy. Thank you! If possible, I would like to have an access to hot water to drink, like some hotel has a electric pot in the room. May be I can ask bar?
Alles top.
Hello, I was not impressed by the over-simplicity of the room- not having a kettle or a coffee machine in the room, and not having a phone that I can connect with the reception. I also didn't like the fact that the cups in the bathroom were paper, and there was no little plate or something to keep my jewelry.
alles top!
I really like Motel One. In this one, the service in the bar area is just top notch! The quality of the coffee in the morning has to be the low light. But it was free, so it is fine.
I would love a kettle and mug in the room to make tea. The sleeping experience was great (quiet, dark room, option of pillows). Was expecting more variety from the breakfast given the price.
We had a great stay at your property. Super convenient and central location. The garage is added value with the discounted rates. The rooms have everything you need. They are clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful particularly during busy check-in times. I want to particularly mention Manager during breakfast who was positive, fun and made the breakfast rush enjoyable despite a full house. There is just one thing I did not appreciate. I wanted to book breakfast for my family and myself while checking in and was discouraged. I had to return to reception late evening to organize it.
The hotel has an excellent location for shopping, big public parking garage right underneath the hotel, great spacious lobby. The Special one room with balcony on the fifth flloor had a wonderful view of the Cologne Cathedral over rhe rooftops.
Excellent as always!

A TOUR AROUND THE CATHEDRAL
Cologne Cathedral is the city’s pièce de résistance – but it’s worth checking out the surroundings as well.
Dropped Cone
Just in front of the hotel, the world’s most expensive ice cream cone adorns the top of the Neumarkt Galerie shopping centre. This ‘cool’, 3-tonne, EUR 1.5 million artwork was created by pop artist Claes Oldenburg and shipped from San Francisco to Cologne. A perfect photo opportunity!
The Cathedral’s peak
You don’t need to climb to the top of Cologne Cathedral to get an up-close look at the structure’s impressive stonemasonry. There is also a life-size model of the finial that caps the building directly in front of the main entrance.
Heinzelmännchenbrunnen
The legend of the Heinzelmännchen is as entrenched in Cologne’s culture as the local ‘Kölsch’ dialect. Built in 1987 and situated across from Früh – the city's oldest brewery – the fountain references a poem by August Kopisch about the hardworking familiars that accompany the city’s residents.
Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium
There is evidence of Cologne’s rich Roman history everywhere. Right next to the cathedral, you can take a detour to the old northern gate of the city, the excavated Hafenstrasse or the Roman Tower, a corner tower of the former city wall.
A TOUR OF WORLD CUISINE
Cologne’s culinary scene has something to suit every taste. Here is just a small selection:
Bay Area Burrito Company
San Francisco-style burritos, tacos and quesadillas that can be customised at will
La Bodega Tapas Bar
Original Spanish tapas – warm or cold, paella and more. Enjoy a taste of Spain on the Rhine
1980 Cafe & Bánh Mì
Speciality coffee drinks, cake and classic Vietnamese cuisine in one spot? Try it for yourself!
Donburi Style
Japanese bowls for a healthy bite during your shopping spree.
Bäckerei Balkhausen
Allegedly the best bakery in Cologne, this shop offers the historical Adenauer Brot, which was developed by Cologne’s former Vice-Mayor and later Chancellor of West Germany.

A TOUR OF THE RHINE
A walk with a view
Head from our Motel One on Neumarkt into the old town to the Heumarkt. After crossing the Deutz Suspension Bridge, you can stroll south along Deutzer Werft towards Poll. Then head across the Deutz swing bridge past the Poll meadows and Deutz harbour to the South Bridge, which offers a stunning view of the Cologne skyline. Once you’ve crossed the Rhine, you can head to the Rheinauhafen and take a stop in one of the many cafés and bars, then go past the distinctive cranes and Chocolate Museum back to Heumarkt.
If you like, you can extend the route by continuing further along the Rhine from Heumarkt towards the Hohenzollern Bridge. Cross the river one more time and take a short walk through the Rheinpark before heading back into the city centre via the Zoobrücke bridge.
(6 km / 11 km with detour through the Rheinpark)

The Motel One Cologne-Neumarkt combines heavenly design with urban attitude...
Hotel Cologne Neumarkt
Our Neumarkt hotel in Cologne is located right beside the city’s former cattle market, which was founded in 1076. It’s not so much the cows, horses and chickens that get shoppers' hearts racing these days – but rather the fashion boutiques and department stores. The Schildergasse, Cologne’s most popular shopping street, is right on the doorstep of our design hotel in Cologne. The street will take you to the heart of the city centre in a matter of minutes, where you can explore the historical town hall, the Museum of Applied Arts, the Hohenzollernbrücke bridge or the Rhine – or perhaps one of the many Kölsch breweries, which offer the ideal refreshment to complement your day in the city. Medieval alleyways lead you from our affordable hotel to the defining symbol of the city: the Cologne Cathedral.
The interior of our Cologne-Neumarkt hotel is also inspired by the city’s most imposing landmark, which is one of Germany’s most popular visitor attractions and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its influence is expressed in the form of colourful glass mosaics in the bar area, which are reminiscent of the artistic windows of the cathedral, and continues with transparent room dividers inspired by the cathedral’s Gothic arches. Wall installations transport you straight into the heart of the nave, while slate and marble details echo the basic stone structure of the popular landmark that has withstood centuries. Our Motel One Cologne-Neumarkt pays loving tribute to Cologne’s flagship monument – and is (almost) as impressive as the original!
