Unfortunately, we (seniors) found that this is a hotel for younger people: breakfast buffet: you have to bend down to reach the plates and drinking cups - no go - you get a tray and have to cling along the buffet, no place to put things down, tea bags too high and nowhere to dispose of rubbish……staff very nice and courteous but I think the design is so badly done… why is everything so dark? Room and bed, thank God, okay

Hotel Magdeburg

The One Lounge of our Motel One Magdeburg is a stylish combination of science and design. It is based on the air pressure experiment by Otto von Guericke, a physicist and native of Magdeburg, to represent the scientific tradition of this city. A tailor-made lamp based on Guericke's original laboratory equipment illuminates the One Lounge; its walls are adorned with images depicting his air pressure experiments. Sit back and relax in our comfortable armchairs while taking in further details of his work – it’s all in the wall design. Enjoy a cocktail or cappuccino in the outdoor lounge of our design hotel on a sunny day and contemplate how many horses must have tried (and failed) to separate the Magdeburg hemispheres.


Our affordable hotel is located directly next to Magdeburg Cathedral and the state parliament, making it the perfect base for a tour of Otto von Guericke’s city. Did you know that he was also its mayor? But not only history fans will get their money’s worth around our hotel: there is a great deal of modern architecture to be seen, such as the Green Citadel by the famous artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Magdeburg central station is within easy reach of the hotel and offers convenient connections to Leipzig-Halle Airport and Berlin.
