Great hotel
i had truble turnin on the heating - it was quite cool in the room
Beautiful hotel and great staff
Perfect location, waking distance to shopping and quayside and lots of bars and restaurants only minutes away. Huge reception area lots of seating areas
For the price, the room was a nice place to stay. Tidy, comfortable and good location. Just the air conditioning was quite noisy. I would have stayed longer but the price doubled for Saturday night. The receptionist was cordial, but just ticked the boxes at checkin, not overly friendly.
Excellent location. Great value for money
overall very good; the provided toiletries could be better
Small room. Not enough sachets of milk for tea, coffee. Not got a free bottle of water as promised on website.Cost of stay reasonable, shower is good and doesn’t take a few mins to warm up unlike other places. Check out at 12 o’clock is good instead of the standard 11 o’clock time that other hotels do so this is a bonus. Room was clean enough on arrival.
great location and great service team!
Excellent hotel couldn't fault it .. slept like a baby pillows and bed proper comfy.... Would definitely stay again...👍
Very good in all respects. Perfect for my on night stay.
Good hotel. Stayed a few times before. Room allocated at rear of property 651 wasA a bit noisy due to lorry’s coming at 5:00am. Don’t like plastic beakers for tea/coffee. Prefer proper ceramic mugs
Been to this hotel twice now and can’t fault it. Great location, rooms have all you need and the bar is great! Breakfast is not cooked but the variety is great and there’s loads to eat. I will definitely stay again!
Great location. Nice bar and reception area. Rooms okay…… pillows terrible
First time here. Handy for central Newcastle. Would happily stay again.
I've stayed at motel one Newcastle on numerous occasions &would recommend it to anyone looking for 1st class accommodation, great location in the city centre &the housekeeping is immaculate, the reception staff&barstaff are brilliant ¬hing is to much trouble for any of them.
We had another great stay at the hotel. The bed is super comfy and the bathroom is spotless. If I had 1 gripe it would be that there is no mirror at the small desk, so being female if youre trying to do your hair its not great. Yes there is a mirror on the wall further along but there are no plug points so would I stay here again to go to the football etc yes! But would I book here for a weekend with the girls, sadly not.....
Stay here whenever we can. The reception staff are excellent friendly and informative, the rooms are well laid out very clean and quiet. I’m back next week for 2 days.
The lady at reception was very helpful we were given a room on the 6 floor and because I don,t like lifts she managed to find one on the second floor, the gentlemen behind the bar were very polite and friendly
Very friendly and placed nice and clean. Would stay again. Great value
Friendly staff and a very clean modern hotel to stay in the centre of Newcastle at very competitive rates
The location of the hotel is brilliant, so central and we didn’t need any taxis apart from to the airport. (I believe we could have travelled by metro but we were tight for time ) The hotel is lovely, really nice lobby and bar area. The rooms are clean and modern but small and a bit clinical. The bed was very comfortable and despite being so central we didn’t hear anything that would disturb sleep. Will definitely stay again if returning to Newcastle
Fantastic hotel with great rooms great service and great staff
The hotel was lovely and clean and such a hidden gem. The location was perfect for being in the centre of Newcastle for the price of it. Big rooms and the atmosphere was just overall perfect. They had helped decorate the room for a birthday. And after 11 there was security which was nice to see.
Nice decor, clean functional room, good breakfast. Policy on hotel access after 23:00 not well publicised. Rude overzealous man checking entry Saturday night. I had my daughter with me, who wasn’t staying and he initially tried to refuse her entry, even to wait in the lobby - this was unacceptable. On the basis of this policy and the individual enforcing it I would not recommend the hotel or stay there again.
We have stayed here numerous times this was the worse room we have been in room looking tired,no heating room was cold ,no milk left in room ,
Great hotel very central, rooms were spacious very comfortable beds and really good check out times
No issues at all checking in and out was easy really helpful staff want more do you want. Will definitely use this hotel again was right in the centre. Keep up the good work
Communal areas very nice; comfortable, well furnished, clean and good to relax in. The breakfast was adequate, the coffee machine wasn’t great! The room was clean and perfectly functional. It was good to have a kettle and tea/coffee. Bathroom was good.
Room 239 which faced onto the lane there was a loose drain cover causing you to hear every vehicle that went down the lane which was loud.
We have stayed at other MotelOne branches in the past but never at Newcastle, despite living close by. On arrival we mistakenly walked past the hotel entrance, but once inside, we were taken aback by the beauty of it. Stunning. There is also a gorgeous outdoor courtyard which was the perfect place to enjoy a quiet cocktail before going out - the sun shone on us, briefly....... I imagine it will be a suntrap if ever summer arrives. The reception team were very friendly and professional and gave us a small room upgrade which was lovely. It felt more like a suite. The room was clean and spacious and the bathroom was lovely. The best bit was however, the bedding. Wow. The most comfortable and luxurious pillows and duvet we have ever felt! So much so that I stripped the pillow and searched for the tag on the duvet! The down side is that we have just spent a small fortune on new bedding... (The Fine Bedding Company for anyone wondering - the 'Spundown' model for both!). Finally, checkout was smooth and seamless and as parents of a young child, getting away for the night, we really appreciated the 12 o'clock checkout - we always feel robbed when other hotels in the town checkout earlier than this. We usually stay at another 'nice' hotel on the Quayside, but did not really enjoy our last visit there. The hotel felt tired and outdated and the room service was poor. After this lovely weekend at MotelOne, we will never stay anywhere else when staying in the town. Thanks to all!
Perfect location and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Hotel was immaculate and the bar/lounge area was very comfortable. Bed super comfy and all amenities present. Auto aircon/heating slightly chilly though, would have appreciated a blanket! Would absolutely 100% recommend to friends and family and we will be returning to stay here in the future too.
Stayed here a few times and always happy
A lovely, stylish hotel with friendly and attentive staff. Will look out for this hotel group in the future.
Very friendly and helpful staff at check in. Booking by employer didn't include breakfast, no offer that this could be added and paid for separatey. Room on first floor however perhaps due to building layout, from the window it looked more like the ground floor. As a solo female traveller this didn't feel secure. Could hear glass bin being filled often. Rooms are very very basic. Comfy but basic. Good bed and pillows. Decent shower. Would make better sense to have a mirror at the desk and chair. TV should be updated with smart/casting options. The cups provided for tea/coffee looked clean but smelled very strongly of coffee and therefore couldn't be used for any other drinks or water. No alternative water cups/glasses provided. I'd stay here for work again due to location but not sure if I would for a personal trip.
Lovely, convenient hotel. Unfortunately the bed in our room was very poor. Extremely soft and sagging in the middle.
Some really good points but some basics like no phone to contact reception and having to collect your iron and ironing board from reception
Nice lobby area , friendly staff , basic but modern room
As ever, I had a very pleasant and restful stay. Staff at the hotel are always very friendly and welcoming, and it makes a difference at the end of the day along journey. Thank you. I am terrible with names, but the staff at breakfast are friendly, cheery and professional, which also makes a real difference. It feels like a happy hotel. Likewise, staff at the desk always surprise me when they remember my name. Thank you.
Wonderfully welcoming at check in & room was spotless. Excellent location.
Hotel is nice and clean and modern, perfect for a work trip
Always a lovely visit to a Motel One! Thank you for the warm welcome.
As usual everything to a high standard
Perfect location, friendly welcoming staff, room was clean and comfortable and the cost very reasonable. We have stayed several times now and it is now our go to hotel when we visit Newcastle.
Great value for money Love the reception and bar area - would liked a draft larger option Rooms need net curtains for privacy
Room weirdly had the sink plug upside down, and the toilet brush was still in the toilet when I entered the room. The bed was two single beds pushed together, pillows too high/firm, and noise from being on a low floor (glass bins waking me up - fun). It's always hit and miss staying here, but this time was a miss - slept terribly both nights.
Good location and lovely rooms.
A great location, pleasant staff, nice bar and the room had all we needed, including a very comfy bed and good shower.
Great location and lovely staff
This is my second stay at Motel One Newcastle. The rooms are clean and well appointed with an excellent shower and comfortable bed. For me, being there on a Friday and Saturday night this time around, did mean that I had a pretty noisy stay. Mainly noise from outside and the neighbouring bars and restaurants - no fault of the hotel itself. The staff are always so friendly and helpful though and my experience was excellent, for a second time.

Location and surroundings
Hotel Newcastle
Our centrally-located Motel One Newcastle is warmed by the charm of raw brickwork, in the form of a genuine brick façade with an industrial style harking back to the history of this working-class city. The interior design takes as its motif the bridges over the Tyne, and the stylish faux-industrial bar pays homage to the achievements of Robert Stephenson, who designed the Rocket steam locomotive. Real leather furniture by Baxter and fine rugs by Jan Kath complement the look. Elegant details such as chairs by Arketipo with distinctive steel frames, and mirrored shelving stocked with carafes of whisky add touches of charm.
And of course, it is no accident that the striped wallpaper at reception is in Newcastle United colours. Even the location in the city’s historic centre suits the industrial-modern style of our affordable Design Hotel. Sights such as the Theatre Royal, Grey’s Monument and Newcastle Town Hall are close at hand, the hotel is handy for the central station, and the airport is easily accessible.
Book your room in our Design Hotel and experience the rich contrasts between “old” industrial and “new” modern design.
