Budget design hotels in Hamburg – your Motel One
Did you know that Hamburg has more bridges than Amsterdam or Venice? More than 2,500 of them criss-cross the countless canals and rivers of the Hanseatic City. The Inner and Outer Alster lakes and the impressive port of Hamburg exude a cosmopolitan, maritime atmosphere. Germany's second-largest city has the ideal entertainment and cultural programme for any visitor of any age.
The picturesque town hall with its 112-metre tower is an iconic part of Hamburg’s urban landscape and an excellent base for exploring the city. It is within easy reach of our Motel One at the Hamburger Michel and our design hotels in Hamburg-Alster, Hamburg-Airport and Hamburg-Altona. Right next to the town hall, you can admire the Inner and Outer Alster lakes and enjoy a leisurely boat ride against an architecturally remarkable backdrop.
Do you like to shop till you drop? While the luxurious Alsterhaus store is somewhat pricier than the affordable rooms in our design hotel, shopping enthusiasts will feel right at home in the city centre, surrounded by countless boutiques and department stores. Once you do need a break, we recommend the nearby “Planten un Blomen” park. Nestled between the Millerntor and Congress Center, the spacious park with its various themed areas is one of Hamburg’s many green spots.
Elbphilharmonie, Speicherstadt, Michel – Hamburg, my pearl!
In the mood for music? Opened in 2016, the Elbphilharmonie is an internationally-renowned concert hall and important landmark of Hamburg. With its striking arched roof, the “Elphi” has already become a significant part of the Hamburg cityscape. Its brick foundation conveys the contrast between the past and present.
A mere stone’s throw away from the Elbphilharmonie, the Speicherstadt warehouse district beckons you to browse its old warehouses full of tobacco, rugs, coffee and spices. It includes the Miniature Wonderland, a collection of detailed, lovingly hand-crafted model landscapes that is visited by thousands of tourists every year.
Our affordable Design Hotel Hamburg am Michel is situated right next to Hamburg’s most significant historical landmark: St Michael's Church. Its striking architecture and the 132-metre church tower are easily visible from afar, which used to make the "Michel” an important point of orientation for sailors.
The famous floating dock (Landungsbrücken), harbour and Reeperbahn red-light district in the famous St Pauli district of Hamburg are within walking distance of our hotel. By the way: if you get caught up in the extraordinary atmosphere of the Reeperbahn, we will be happy to welcome you to our Motel One even in the wee hours.
