Your hotel in Copenhagen

Our affordable design hotel in Copenhagen is located right in the centre of the Danish capital, opposite the city hall and the Rådhuspladsen. From here, you can easily reach all of Copenhagen’s top sights – and there are plenty of them to explore. After all, the capital is one of the most important cities in northern Europe and a popular destination for city breaks, not least because it offers one of the best qualities of life in the world.

What does Copenhagen have to offer?

Top of the list of highlights is the city’s iconic landmark, The Little Mermaid. The statue of the character from Hans Christian Anderson’s fairytale awaits you on the Langelinie waterside promenade, around 30 minutes from our hotel. You’ll also find Copenhagen’s citadel here, a star-shaped 17th century fortress open to the public. And did you spot Charlottenborg Palace and the Old Stock Exchange on the walk over? You’ll also have passed Christiansborg Palace, the seat of the Danish parliament. It’s conveniently located by Copenhagen’s gastronomic hub, Nyhavn, or ‘new harbour’. There’s something to suit everyone’s tastes in the streets of this area, with their brightly coloured gabled houses dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. But Copenhagen’s lively history as a port and trading city – and the resulting architecture – is far from the only reason to visit. By the harbour, you’ll find the Royal Danish Theatre and Royal Danish Library, also known as the ‘Black Diamond’. Here, it’s not just what’s on the inside that counts: these notable examples of modern architecture are worth a stop on any city tour. And if they’ve inspired you to seek out more Nordic design, the Design Museum Denmark displays objects from the workshops of Danish designers such as Arne Jacobsen and Poul Henningsen.

Just a short walk from our hotel lies Freetown Christiania, an autonomous area that offers a very different perspective on Copenhagen – including from an architectural point of view. The alternative housing development in the district of Christianshavn has been self-governed since its creation in the 1970s and is a symbol of Denmark’s progressive culture. Our hotel in Copenhagen is also a perfect starting point for leisure activities: Tivoli, the world’s oldest amusement park, lies directly opposite. Or is Copenhagen just the first step on your Nordic discovery tour? Perfect: our affordable design hotel is located just north of the Øresund Bridge, which links Copenhagen with its neighbour Sweden.
