I would explicitly like to point out the things that I didnt like or found unpleasant to have experienced: (Booking IDs: 7721SG128571, 7721SG128570) 1. We arrived a bit early for the checkin around 12 PM. I had just requested the receptionist that if possible can we have a room with nice view. It was just a request ans not a condition. The main thing was that since my parents were travelling with us, it was important that the rooms should be next to each other, which was nevertheless not met. Even after coming later around 4 PM the rooms that we requested were not adjacent but on different floors, 614 and 456. But it still took us around 10-15 mins. I would like to point out that if its taking too long, then I would have taken any decent room but quickly rather than waiting for a good view. We were there for just one night and delayed checkin costed us time. 2. It was mentioned in the booking confirmation that two water bottles will be given at the time of check-in. But instead we were not given any. Also we had to request too much to send someone to send the bottles to our rooms, to which we were rudely said we dont do it here. I mean is it too much to ask on such a hot day with sweltering temperatures and the hotel of your class? My impression of Motel One was quite shattered as Ive stayed previously in other cities and my experience was way better there. No amount of explanation is justified for such statements. 3. In room 614(the so called best view), there were plenty of flies and mosquitos. We also have photos and videos if you need proof. I did mention that and I was offered that I can change the room or maybe a room freshner spray can be sprayed. Both solutions were inappropriate for us as we had to be going as we were just there for one day and too much to cover. So obviously changing room would have costed us more time. My question is at the time of handover, shouldnt you make sure that the room is bug free? That was the first time ever in my hotel experience in Germany to be honest!! I request you to provide me with some sort of monetary compensation for the unpleasant experience I had. When someone is paying such exhorbitant prices for a night stay, the least they expect is a decent and pleasant stay, which was unfortunately not gauranteed for us!!

Clean, modern, great staff
The word motel in Motel One can be slightly misleading. This is by no means a roadside motel experience, but rather a very pleasant and thoughtfully designed city stay. What stood out immediately was the atmosphere and the people. Reception and staff throughout the hotel were genuinely welcoming, with actual warmth and smiles, which always makes a difference. I particularly appreciate Motel One’s collaboration with artists and their effort to make the spaces feel alive through artwork, furniture and design details. . We did not have breakfast, but I must mention how cleverly the breakfast area is designed. Instead of one large canteen-style hall, the space is divided into smaller zones with different seating arrangements, creating a much more relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. The room itself was on the smaller side, especially travelling with a dog, but very well organised. Dog fee is €15 per night, which felt fair. Excellent sound insulation despite the traffic outside, very comfortable mattress, spotless cleanliness and surprisingly smart storage solutions for a compact room. There are no extra amenities — no kettle, tea station or minibar — but I understand this is part of how Motel One keeps pricing reasonable. The bathroom, however, was a very pleasant surprise: modern, spacious and everything worked exactly as it should. Location is another strong point. Close to the city centre, yet still breathable thanks to the nearby park. Perfect for dog walks and surrounded by useful amenities, bakeries and coffee places within a few minutes' walk. Overall, we had a genuinely comfortable and almost home-like stay. Simple, functional and thoughtfully executed.
Our stay at Motel One Köln-Mediapark was simply fantastic. The bedding quality and overall cleanliness are always held to the highest standards, which we truly appreciate. What really makes this place special is the people. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the bar team goes the extra mile every time. A special mention to the experienced bartender whose warmth and expertise, paired with an excellent selection of drinks, made our evenings unforgettable—we happily spent hours there. This hotel feels like a home away from home, and it will definitely be our go-to whenever we’re in Cologne. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so enjoyable!
Overall my experience with the hotel was good, nevertheless there are 3 things that I really didn't like. 1. The Serbian (as I overheard from a conversation) barman in the evening shifts is extremely rude. I usually enjoy having a drink in the evenings after work, but after my 1st experience with this person and that he was in charge of the bar during the rest of my stay, I decided that I prefer to skip visiting the bar, because of the lack of respect and rude attitude of this employee. 2. Any exchange by email or Booking with Katherina was a waste of time, I had to repeat the same questions several times, as she didn't read the whole emails, perhaps just a part of them as she was clearly skipping the most important points each time. It's the 1st time in my life that requesting an invoice can be such an unpleasant experience. 3. When I came back at night to my room one of the evenings, I found a huge bug on my bed. I got rid of it and it never happened again, but maybe you could consider reviewing your cleaning standars.

Check-in and -out was fast ans efficient
Nice and helpful personnel, nice and quiet room and the hotel was perfectly located for our plans, we could walk everywhere.
Our room was booked for two people but had only one set of towels and duvets. After going to the reception to ask about it, I was handed an extra set that smelled like Asian delivery food. The breakfast room was littered with old dishes of previous guests that nobody seemed to take care of. The buffet was also looking a bit filthy. Everything else was ok but the lack of basic cleanliness and care really didn’t make our stay very welcoming and comfortable.
The staff serving our breakfast has been amazing! Very helpful and friendly.
It was really nice. I scratched myself and went to reception for a band aid. They were really helpful.

Absolutely spotless! The location for a tour of Cologne is perfect. The hotel was as always at Motel One. Everything super clean, everything there you may need and all super friendly.
Had a wonderful work stay. My room had amazing views to the Mediapark and the staff at reception & bar were very friendly.
Organic products at breakfast is a great idea and a big plus. Very comfortable bedding, quiet, clean and modern room. Great location with nearby carpark and public transport.
Very nice and central hotel. The staff is nice, the check-in and -out is efficient. While we didn't have breakfast, it looked really great, including a small courtyard to sit. Rooms are relatively small but that matches the price. The windows are isolated very well, you don't hear anything from the mainstreet. Windows are floor-to-ceiling, but there's no sheer curtain, meaning you can't hide yourself, either all or nothing. :-) While there's a parking next to the hotel, due to the traffic situation, there is no way you can unload your luggage in front of the hotel. In summary, absolutely to be recommended for a short stay.

In general the experience was okay. We had a problem with our room which I booked for two guests and clearly the room was prepared just for one person. We had to go twice to order missing towels or blankets.

Wonderful stay in Cologne! The hotel was clean, comfortable, and very well located, just a short walk from the city center. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast had a great variety. Would definitely stay here again!

I missed a glass made glass from the room very much. Also the paper cup placed over the WC I think is not the best idea. Apart from this the stay was good.
Overall a very good experience. It would have been nice, though, to have a water kettle in the room. Also, the bathroom was not perfectly clean. There was some dark brown substance smeared on the outside of the sink and on the door frame. I was able to clean it off easily with a disinfecting wipe. The free wifi was also a bit slow. Otherwise everything was fine.

I had no problems during my stay and regarding the conditions of the hotel, but thanks to a confusion and lack of communication on behalf your receptionists, my stay was charged to me twice and your customer service and the time you take to resolve the situation is terrible. 8 days later I still haven't got my money back and I don't know when I will receive it. This is unacceptable.
It's just probably one of the best hotel chains in Europe in this category. It ticks all the boxes for a weekend city getaway, mixing comfort with design and functionality.
It awsome that you provide an organic breakfast. But the cheese selection was very small. Furthermore, the coffee was not very tasty

The cartoon clips playing in the bar depict our Motel One ‘Funkenmariechen’ (Carnival dancer) dancing through Cologne, while the ‘comic explosion’ light installation above our workbenches by Ingo Maurer completes the colourful design. Cologne wisdom and even excerpts from the ‘Kölschen Grundgesetz’ (Cologne’s ‘constitution’) that playfully capture Cologne’s attitude to life can be found throughout the hotel. True to the motto ‘Drinkest Ene Met?’ (Come and have a drink with us?), our Motel One love locks might soon be in use after a few Kölsch beers.
