Very clean room. Great facilities for a city hotel and brilliant, central location.
As usual I've enjoyed the stay very much. The room had a perfect view of the Princes Street and the Castle. It was tidy and had the usual 'Motel One' setup, which is a plus. Hotel service was always very nice and helpful. There are three things that could be improved: 1. The room was directly above the speaker from the main hall, so whenever the music was playing there, it was noticeable in the room, but not annoying. 2. The breakfast menu could be more extensive, with scrambled eggs or sausages from water or grilled. 3. The broadcast quality of some channels in the TV, some of them had a low video quality like less than 720p and some were perfect.
Perfect zone to visit Edinburgh
Excellent location directly across from Waverly Station and a small grocery right down the street. Hotel was lovely and spotless, staff were very kind. Very central location and walkable to many historic sites.
Great location, friendly staff would recommend for business and pleasure
We had a fantastic stay. The only issue was when we arrived,we'd booked a room with a city view, but allocated a room without a view. This was prompty rectified and the lovely front desk reception staff apologised, so we were happy. The room was lovely and clean and the bed so comfortable.Everything was as it should be and what you expect. The view was breathtaking over the city,so central on princes street. We especially enjoyed the bar/lounge area where breakfast is served, also a comfortable place to chill in the evening and have a drink. Buffet breakfast was great and catered for all tastes and plenty of it! Very impressed overall 🙂
Hailey made our stay incredible from the start! We really enjoyed this spot and the hospitality of the staff
Clean bed and towels , bathroom would need some good scrubbing , there is a gap between the door and frame big enough to see the corridor , had to hand clothes over it . Simple breakfast but good choice . I like how the food: bar area was rewamped since I was there last year . Friendly people working there . Fab location .
We have stayed at the Motel One previously and like its location. Had a couple of minor issues which Hayley dealt with making our stay enjoyable. Breakfast is pricey for what is available.
Lovely as usual. Helpful staff. Very central.
Great location. Nice styled room. Airconditioning was not working, the room was too warm. The beds where too hard and there were no matrass toppers available. It was odd that the price at the reception was higher than online prices, so we booked via the website in the reception. This is bureaucratic nonsense.
Friendly and clean
Thank you so much for your hospitality. My husband and I were so happy to celebrate his birthday in Edinburgh and of course stay at Motel One.
The staff were welcoming throughout each day. So kind to stop what the were doing to assist with internet problems. The breakfast was inviting and delicious.
Very kind stuff. Good and tasty breakfast. Rooms clean and ok. But carpeted floors in the room are not ideal due to hygiene concerns. We had a pleasant stay.
For the cost of the stay, it was way below expectations. We paid $1k total and couldn't even get a bottle of water for the room. The towels were stained, the mattress and pillows were hard, the room was too hot, no shampoo or conditioner, and the hallways were dirty and dusty. Plus the TV was broken.
We had a very good time, everything is great, very clean, confortable, beautiful, great location, everyone was so nice and helpful… we will book in this fabulous hotel each time we come to Edinburgh, everything was perfect !
Fantastic location, right opposite Waverly train station so everything was within walking distance. We unexpectedly had to take our little dog and the hotel was happy to accommodate her too. Room was small but had everything needed, bed was comfy, everything was clean.
Excellent location.
Everything was great. Location, hospitality, breakfast, cleanliness... I can easily recommend to anyone who seek to travel Edinburgh as a tourist
Very comfy room with amazing view. Very clean. Location. Location. Location.
Huge rooms, comfortable beds and very quiet. Nice breakfast
Found the mattress very hard and wifi not very good
Great location, nice room with fabulous views and opening windows, friendly and helpful staff
All was good with our stay. Hotel was clean with easy check in and out. Continental breakfast on the first floor worked well.
Had a great stay - unfortunately the bed in our room was on a slant and had a hard mattress, so didn't get a great night's sleep and the room was also different to that pictured - that said, everything else was great and the staff were lovely so we would still stay here again.
Everything was excellent except for a couple of things. Having to use the room key for the electricity was quite annoying to be frank. In addition, the room was quite cold I was unable to adjust the temperature. That being said, the staff was superb breakfast is great and location can't be beat.
I opted for breakfast that was a mistake.
Friendly check-in nice room
All was perfect, the staff is amzing, but unfortunately the wifi is working bad, especially if you need it for working, it s a bit annoying
Having stayed at Motel One, Princess St, Edinburgh at least once a year for as long as I can remember we were very disappointed on this occasion. Our room (417) was unbearably hot with no working Air Conditioning. We requested another room at reception to no availThe solution was for the window to be released by a member of staff to 'get some cool air in' which was OK but with the window fully open the temperature was 24 degrees, too hot for me. It was unsustainable during the evening when the curtains were drawn and I was unable to sleep for the heat. The bathroom door didnt close properly and we were unable to shower as the heat in the bathroom was off the scale making it impossible to actually create more heat by using the shower. There was also refurbishment works being undertaken that was not mentioned on our booking which i find unsatisfactory. Considering the price paid for a very basic room I would require some compensation to cover our inconvenience.
Overall stay was good - however very disappointed with the aircon and noise in room 403 - we altered the aircon overnight but after a few mins in went warm and stuffy - so much so we had to over the window with constant noise and disturbance from the bin stores directly below us - not the usual quality stay we tend to enjoy
Like as all our former stays at Motel One Edinburgh-Princes nearly everything was really fine during our stay there in April 26. Very friendly staff, breakfast options are comfortable as well as our room. Only little thing was the temporarily not-working Wifi (but only for a couple of hours) which was due to some actual renovation works in the Motel about we have been informed before. We surely will come back at our next trip to Edinburgh.
Staff were very helpfully and friendly,,perfect location. Room was very hot during the night and the a.c. did not work but the staff gave us a fan the next day. Very enjoyable stay and would recommend your hotel.
Not as good as hopes - motel one Glasgow much nicer entrance and bar etc room was unbearably hot with a window that scarcely opened. Poor value
Very poor breakfast
While the staff on check in were friendly and helpful, the room itself was very disappointing. It was small, had no wardrobe or fridge and overall below par. We checked out after one night and checked into the Caladonian, which was only marginally more expensive but was 5 star, until Motel One-Princes which was at best 2 star.
First stay in the hotel (2 nights) but have used the bar on a few occasions in the past. Location super, staff super friendly and accommodating (contact before our stay), cleanliness super...Can't comment on breafast as we did not have any. In fact everything was super except for the heating in the room - was roasting, despite the air con control unit set at 5! Hence rated room as 9.
First room had no WiFi access. Hotel has no a/c and room was uncomfortably hot. A complementary bottle of water would have helped.
Check in was straight forward and the staff are very pleasant room spotless had a drink in the bar and the service was impeccable decor was excellent thank you very nice stay
Perfect position, excellent facilities - breakfast was fantastic!
Good location bar area nice. Simple things could improve rooms. Mirror at desk to do hair. Proper cups the thick plastic ones are horrible. A wee glass in the bathroom for toothbrush and a bin in the bedroom. All would enhance
Convenient location adequate rooms couldn’t find fault
The hotel was lovely, the staff were excellent and very helpful. We popped in before our stay and the staff were lovely put notes on my booking, spoke to my baby and distracted her so I could speak to the reception staff. They make you feel so welcome and that nothing is too much trouble. Thank you again! They all deserve a pay rise
As always, great stay at Motel One. Convenient location for train station, Princes Street, shopping and tge Playhouse. Room was spacious and nicely decorated. Only one issue on the night we arrived was the bathroom tap only had hot water, scalding at times. This was ok again the next morning.
Excellent staff, great room.
Friendly and helpful staff Room was clean and compact. No issues for me.
Nice place, nice staff. Really good breakfast and pretty unbeatable location overlooking Princes Street. Quiet (really!).
Lovely motel. Fantastic location on Princes Street and just a 10 min walk to the Royal Mile and all Old Town. A 2 minute walk from the tram stop which is great for airport connection. Shops (fancy and grocery) less than 1 minute walk away. Highly recommend this motel.
Very friendly staff, excellent location

Hotel Edinburgh Princes
Being the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh naturally has a long history with royal personages. In our Motel One Edinburgh-Princes we’ve cannily picked up on Scotland's royalty-related motifs, welcoming visitors with illustrious design combining antique candelabras and opulent velvet sofas. From the booths of the second-floor bar, there are majestic views onto the famed Princes Street and Edinburgh's history, while in our One Lounge, you can start the day in imperious fashion with a healthy breakfast, and relax later on in the company of royal portraits.
And the area around this Design Hotel at Waverley Station is well worth exploring, with the National Gallery of Scotland, Carlton Hill and Edinburgh Castle just a short stroll away. If you’re travelling on business, our design hotel is just as handy for Edinburgh International Conference Centre and the airport.
