Like as all our former stays at Motel One Edinburgh-Princes nearly everything was really fine during our stay there in April 26. Very friendly staff, breakfast options are comfortable as well as our room. Only little thing was the temporarily not-working Wifi (but only for a couple of hours) which was due to some actual renovation works in the Motel about we have been informed before. We surely will come back at our next trip to Edinburgh.
Staff were very helpfully and friendly,,perfect location. Room was very hot during the night and the a.c. did not work but the staff gave us a fan the next day. Very enjoyable stay and would recommend your hotel.
Not as good as hopes - motel one Glasgow much nicer entrance and bar etc room was unbearably hot with a window that scarcely opened. Poor value
Very poor breakfast
While the staff on check in were friendly and helpful, the room itself was very disappointing. It was small, had no wardrobe or fridge and overall below par. We checked out after one night and checked into the Caladonian, which was only marginally more expensive but was 5 star, until Motel One-Princes which was at best 2 star.
First stay in the hotel (2 nights) but have used the bar on a few occasions in the past. Location super, staff super friendly and accommodating (contact before our stay), cleanliness super...Can't comment on breafast as we did not have any. In fact everything was super except for the heating in the room - was roasting, despite the air con control unit set at 5! Hence rated room as 9.
First room had no WiFi access. Hotel has no a/c and room was uncomfortably hot. A complementary bottle of water would have helped.
Check in was straight forward and the staff are very pleasant room spotless had a drink in the bar and the service was impeccable decor was excellent thank you very nice stay
Perfect position, excellent facilities - breakfast was fantastic!
Good location bar area nice. Simple things could improve rooms. Mirror at desk to do hair. Proper cups the thick plastic ones are horrible. A wee glass in the bathroom for toothbrush and a bin in the bedroom. All would enhance
Convenient location adequate rooms couldn’t find fault
The hotel was lovely, the staff were excellent and very helpful. We popped in before our stay and the staff were lovely put notes on my booking, spoke to my baby and distracted her so I could speak to the reception staff. They make you feel so welcome and that nothing is too much trouble. Thank you again! They all deserve a pay rise
As always, great stay at Motel One. Convenient location for train station, Princes Street, shopping and tge Playhouse. Room was spacious and nicely decorated. Only one issue on the night we arrived was the bathroom tap only had hot water, scalding at times. This was ok again the next morning.
Excellent staff, great room.
Friendly and helpful staff Room was clean and compact. No issues for me.
Nice place, nice staff. Really good breakfast and pretty unbeatable location overlooking Princes Street. Quiet (really!).
Lovely motel. Fantastic location on Princes Street and just a 10 min walk to the Royal Mile and all Old Town. A 2 minute walk from the tram stop which is great for airport connection. Shops (fancy and grocery) less than 1 minute walk away. Highly recommend this motel.
Very friendly staff, excellent location
The checkin was handled by a very polite woman, even the guard on the ground floor by the entrance was super-friendly. And my room was nice, spacious and with a great view. The lounge-area was nice and the breakfast and service was excellent.
Location is great. Friendly, welcoming staff.
Location excellent, rooms lovely and all other areas beautiful only drawback was our room 424 was extremely noisy due to street noise kept us awake most of the night can be doing with another glazing unit
Lovely one night stay in Edinburgh - room clean and fresh. Staff extremely helpful and polite. Highly recommend
Great location, lovely friendly staff.
Brilliant location, a minute walk from the train station and near all the tourist spots and lots of lovely bars and restaurants. Loved that we were able to check in a few hours early and check out was at 12pm. The hotel itself is modern and has a lovely bar area that has views of the balmoral hotel and castle in the background.
Excellent location, very friendly staff, good breakfast and a great room with a view.
I have stayed at motel one princes street many times. Staff are excellent. Rooms are good and comfortable. Very well situated hotel. Bar area and reception always clean and welcoming. Thank you all.
excellent service and location
Very comfortable and clean room! The location is excellent for exploring the city. The breakfast was good, but an extra option for eggs (eg scrambled) or sth more Scottish like small pies would be ideal.
Loving the ongoing refurbishment. Staff very friendly.
Everything was fine, the lounge was very cold on the evening.
This hotel is in a great position opposite Waverley Station. Buffet breakfast had no hot food apart from boiled eggs but it was still really nice. Had a great room overlooking Princes Street. Good size and great shower. I’ve taken points off because the bar staff at night were very unfriendly. It was about half past 10 and we were the only people in the bar. We asked for Sauvignon Blanc and were told they didn’t have any so we paid £20 for two G&Ts. There were 2 staff members initially. They chatted amongst themselves and looked completely bored. There was a shift change and they went to get changed and came back into the bar for a drink afterwards. The guy who replaced them proceeded to make himself a cup of tea and completely ignored the fact that we were sitting at the bar. A greeting or some form of friendly acknowledgment would have been the minimum expectation from a customer service perspective I feel eg “hello, let me know if I can get you anything” rather than just avoiding eye contact completely. We finished our drinks and left but not before I challenged all 3 of them about how different the atmosphere could have been at such a quiet time with a bit of effort from them. Training required I think. The bartender coming in shift’s response was that he was just starting his shift - so what?! They did have the good grace to apologise. The reception staff and cleaning staff were all magnificent by comparison!
Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable stay. Perfect location right in the centre of everything we wanted to see. Beautiful decor in Lounge/bar with gorgeous windows seats. Only touch needed would be bottled water in rooms for arrivals. Would stay again!
Clean and modern room. Fabulous location. Reception staff were beyond helpful - nothing was too much trouble.
Excellent
Staff very attentive and helpful at all times. Perfect location and access in and out. We had room 119 (THANK YOU ) , even slept with Curtains open so could appreciate the view and lights at night from the city. Room service daily, unexpected but very much appreciated. Really enjoyed our stay, THANK YOU TO all the team involved. Ps) we didn’t use the breakfast facility as had already plans as a group of 8 but it looked very delicious and loved the little extra decoration on the eggs, loved it .
Hotel One Prince Street was a great place to stay in Edinburgh. Clean, welcoming and quiet. Tucked just out of the busy busy but right in the middle of easy walking to transportation and historical sites. And a great bar for an end of the day nip to top off the day.
Excellent stay. Good value. Thanks
A great property with a perfect location. The room was clean and comfortable. It was also very quiet which was terrific after a day of sightseeing.
Were not advised of the ongoing works in the hotel. Allocated an accessible room again without being advised. Not the MotelOne experience I am used to.
Difficult to turn the room temperature down
The room was very clean everything was very functional. The staff was very nice and helpful. Only thing was the WiFi not working.
Hotel a stones throw from the train station. Asked if we could leave bags prior to check in but was pleasantly surprised when informed room was ready for an earlier check in. Reception staff very pleasant and helpful. Nice to have the late check out time of 12.00 noon. Train not until after 4pm so hotel happy to securely store bags to allow further time to explore beautiful Edinburgh. Would definitely come again. Room spotlessly clean and decent size with views over to the castle.
Disappointed that the hotel’s Wi-fi never worked during our 4 day stay.
Very convenient location. Quiet and comfortable. Great shower and towels. Good breakfast. Friendly staff.
Fantastic service and wonderful staff
Our first time at this particular hotel and we had as we have found in the past at others in the group a very pleasant and comfortable stay. Just one disappointing point was that the duvet cover had a couple of ripped holes. This won't put us off staying again as all other aspects, staff, cleanliness, facilities and buffet breakfast were spot on.
This was my third visit and again, rooms are comfortable and clean and the staff are excellent.
I staed in one of the rooms on the first floor of the hpotel and have been asigned similar rooms previously. Whilst the rooms are ok - they are becoming drab and dreary. a fresh lick of paint, new carpet - opening windows and a general refresh would do these rooms the world of good.
Great location. Friendly staff. Clean and comfortable room.
Fantastic hotel in amazing location!

Hotel Edinburgh Princes
Being the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh naturally has a long history with royal personages. In our Motel One Edinburgh-Princes we’ve cannily picked up on Scotland's royalty-related motifs, welcoming visitors with illustrious design combining antique candelabras and opulent velvet sofas. From the booths of the second-floor bar, there are majestic views onto the famed Princes Street and Edinburgh's history, while in our One Lounge, you can start the day in imperious fashion with a healthy breakfast, and relax later on in the company of royal portraits.
And the area around this Design Hotel at Waverley Station is well worth exploring, with the National Gallery of Scotland, Carlton Hill and Edinburgh Castle just a short stroll away. If you’re travelling on business, our design hotel is just as handy for Edinburgh International Conference Centre and the airport.
