Great location. But a little basic for the price.
The room was so quiet and the bed was really comfortable. And we loved the breakfast the staff were so nice and friendly and very helpful.
Good value for money in an excellent location.
Chaos at breakfast. Both coffee machines were not working. A lot of empty baskets, no juices. One only person of the staff working and was not enough to refill empty trays and baskets.. very long wait for a coffee.. we paid extra for 2 breakfasts but in the end we had nothing.. they should refund for breakfast
This was our first experience of Motel 1, and without reservation we would say the experience was excellent. All the staff were welcoming and helpful. We would certainly use the facility again. Many thanks for making our short stay in Edinburgh so lovely. Hugh and Salam

Motel One is nicely located in the heart of Edinburgh. Breakfast was okay but I would not book it again since the selection is quite limited and has no variation for the whole week.
Great location, comfortable and clean rooms. Poor layout with reception on the first floor and poor access security. However, I would come back again.

Room was great, really spacious and large modern bathroom, really comfortable bed and wanted to stay for longer. Staff really friendly and helpful too. Perfect location in Edinburgh and despite busy location and bedroom on main street on a Friday night there was minimal noise (we were up on 4th floor). Didn’t have time to try and lounge/bar but looked nice.
Excellent. Despite a very short stay, for sure if back in Edimburg I'll stay with you if is available. Staff very professional, friendly,always in a good mood. The location is excelent, the ar service including staff is very good as well as all the lounge. I strongly recomend.

The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good, though given what we paid for it, the offerings were a bit slim.
Lovely welcome by the reception staff, nice large room with good bathroom. Only thing downside was the recyclable plastic cups would prefer proper cup.
Staff were very helpful & friendly. Our room was comfortable but no air con. Opened windows but the noise of the traffic disturbed our sleep.
A great bed, decent air conditioning and amazingly quiet given central location. Will make it our base when we next visit.
Positiv: super location to everything incl. Airport Tram, train. Modern, free upgrade - nice view. Negativ: hard matress, no good sleep possible, missing body milk.
I was meant to be charged £120 per night but your hotel put me in an embarrassing situation when I arrived at check in and charged me £420 instead. I’m really upset

Hotel location central, easy access to city centre attractions. Room though basic was adequate enough. It was clean and quiet. The staff was welcoming and helpful. It has always been our go to hotel when in Edinburgh
Great location with easy access to public transport, Waverley trai tration and bus to the airport. Super nice staff. Great room and very good soundproof room. It’s been a long time that I got such soundproof room. Haven’t tried breakfast so can’t comment on that.
I like this hotel because the rates are usually quite good for Edinburgh and the location suits me, due to being opposite the train station. The staff are lovely, very efficient and friendly. The lounge area is very stylish and super comfortable. My room was quite compact, but perfect for a short stay, everything I needed, good comfortable bed, great shower.

I’m giving you a 1 for 1 reason only. The staffs stubborn refusal to provide me with a bottle of water. Despite me being a one member. The only reason I didn’t book online was because it continually didn’t allow me to do so so I gave up and phoned the hotel at one point. I should have known if that’s what it was taking to book a room then things were not looking rosy. The fact that I couldn’t book through the website meant (a) I didn’t get my 10% discount (b) a measly bottle of water. I find it beguiling that the staff on the day i checked in were so obstinate and rude. A complete contrast to the staff the next day when I check out. Couldn’t have been nicer. My review is based on check in staff not out!!

If i could give 0 stars i would. We stayed from 19th June to the 21st of June for our wedding anniversary. It was our first time in Edinburgh (which was amazing) and first time using Motel one. The rooms are over priced for what they are. Bob basic, small, and the mattress is like sleeping on a rock slab (We've stayed in many cities including London for cheaper and nicer facilities). We paid extra for a city view, even though we only could see Balmoral hotel across the road, and if we looked to the right on angle you could see a small part of Edinburgh City. We was located on the 2nd floor but due to how the hotel is it is approximately 3rd floor from the street. I personally wouldnt pay extra as you dont really get a city view more of a street, and the noise is unbelievable, it was like our windows are open we could hear everything from drunken street fights, police, and delivery vans in the earlier hours (yes I am aware city view chance of foot noises however the windows do not block any sound so they sound like they are in the room with us). After a rough night's sleep and then being asked to moved to a quiet room and extra duvet to sleep on top of comfort we was looking forward to breakfast. When I researched hotels I paid extra than I normally would (close to £350 a night) for the comfort, luxury, and breakfast. I looked at the pictures, reviews, and what the hotel have to offer but I'm not sure where these were generated from or if we was just unlucky but the continental breakfast was appalling. No cooked foods, no traditional Scottish oats or any cereals for that fact. The options were yoghurt with some toppings, cold crossaints, pain au chocolat, bread to make a ham or cheese sandwich, and some juices. The price of the breakfast does not reflect what is offered and is extremely overpriced. We opted for a crossiant, some toast, and apple juice. Not sure if it was food or the apple juice but I ended up being ill and stuck on toilet with stomach cramps most of the day. They hadn't washed the glass from their cleaning solution properly which cause a reaction to my husbands tongue and cause it to bleed. After all this we decided to cut our trip short and return home that day, we've not managed to come to solution in regards to the hotel and I am just appalled at the lack of responsibility from the hotel. So I would definitely avoid this place, it is not worth the hassle.
The room was comfortable and the receptionist was very friendly, but it was quite expensive for what it offered.

We love this hotel . The personal members are very polite and nice with their customers. Always with a smile in their face . The rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms modern and clean. Also, is a great location! Just crossing the street to Waverley train station. !
Absolutely great location / accessibility. Staff are very welcoming and really happy to help in any way. Hotel was very clean and tidy and the breakfast was good too. The rooms though are a little bit basic for the money and the pillows on the bed are not comfortable, one large square pillow and one slim rectangular pillow doesn't allow for a good, comfortable nights sleep. Also it was quite easy to hear the person in the room next door to me. I know these may seem small matters but they make a difference.
Hotel staff were very professional and helpful! The hotel is located in the heart of the city and walking distance to all the fun pubs and shops.
Everything was excellent, the staff was also awesome. However one complain about the bar personel (lady) on sundaynight the 14th of june. She refused to put on the TV for watching the worldcup Football. She told me there was a shortage of staff and so it was not possible. If you see the records of that night you can see there were around 5 customers in the lounge. She advised me to look at my room. It was after a very good experience in your hotel a little shame. The hotel is in the perfect location. Close to the tram and train station. The staff is super friendly! Room was clean and modern! Bring your own shampoo and conditioner though.
The location is honestly the best part, opposite the train station and so wonderful to see the views from the window in the room. The room was comfortable, clean and beautifully designed throughout. I saw complaints online about the bamboo cups as opposed to ceramic mugs but I had no issue with these cups, they are made from recycled material and didn’t overheat when used for hot drinks so win win. The bedding was cosy and the mattress was perfect - firm but soft. The only slight issue was the water pressure being quite weak, making it a bit tricky to wash my hair and rinse it effectively. The temperature however was wonderfully hot. I felt very safe and rarely heard from other guests. I was on the top floor and it was great having the window open, being able to hear bagpipes being played in the street below but the noise completely stopped with the window being closed. I would have appreciated more selection with the hot drinks, with maybe some herbal teas and the inclusion of alternative milk sachets instead of just cows milk given how popular the alternatives are becoming now. However, the room was fantastic and I would not hesitate to stay with Motel One again.
Room was good size but a little basic. Very quiet. Bathroom very good size but some hair conditioner and body lotion would have been a good addition
This was booked erroneously as the on-line system is rather clumsy and kept changing my input. In fact I didn't realise the wrong date had been booked until I tried to confirm my booking a couple of days later. The response was less than friendly - "Nothing can be done about it..".

Brilliant location and staff were very welcoming. Room was lovely & clean. The only issue I had was the bed was so so hard I actually didn’t sleep at all. The two pillows were both very hard also so couldn’t get comfy at all. But that may just be down to personal preference but I did struggle to obtain any sort of comfort.
The hotel is perfectly located opposite the entrance to Waverley Railway Station. Everywhere is accessible by foot, tram, bus or train. Staff are extremely helpful and welcoming and the continental breakfast provides a great choice to set you up for the day. Room was nice and bathroom and shower excellent. No hesitation in booking a return visit.
Perfektní poloha hotelu. Pěkný butikový hotel s velmi útulným lobby. Pokoje jsou příjemné a nabízejí hezký výhled. Tento hotelový řetězec máme velmi rádi. Možná bychom uvítali o něco pestřejší snídani, například doplnění o míchaná vejce. Jinak ale bylo vše perfektní – byli jsme velmi spokojeni.
