Really lovely friendly hotel very close to the train station and within walking distance of The Royal Mile, Grassmarket and Edinburgh Castle.
There's always someone at disposal. Staff very kind and professional. Rooms are clean and in a modern stile.
Great Hotel, staff excellent very helpful, breakfast are continental, rooms clean and spacious, only thing I would say window cleaner needs to clean windows at reasonable time not 7 o'clock in the morning!!!!!

Great stay in a very central hotel. Staff were excellent, very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was busy however everything was always kept full and fresh. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Good point: *Central location. Negative points: *AIRCON didn't work, had to leave window open but woke in early hours due to noise so closed window and sweated the rest of night. *Breakfast served til 10 but by 9am mini pastry were finished and not replaced. Limited breakfast offering. Boiled eggs were too runny for our taste *Hard to find somewhere to sit, had to perch in corner where people were storing their suitcases while trying to eat breakfast and then navigate round to leave.
The location was excellent. Rooms were very small, but that's true for most of Europe. The rooms were very warm with no way to cool it down.
Brilliant location for getting around. Lovely foyer. Basic room but that’s okay as clean and had what we needed. I have had to mark down because a plastic cup for coffee when you are spending £170 per night isn’t acceptable.
The hotel was in great location, room was ok - the view was not best (brick wall). Also sadly, the room smelled of cigarettes - I didn't realise until I got back late in the evening and was too tired to bring it to anyone's attention.
For the premium price, you only get a basic room and a complimentary water bottle. Room doesn't have a small referigiraton which is the norm.

Staff are always extremely helpful and friendly. Rooms have always been spotless and comfortable. We arrived early and didn’t expect to get an earlier check in, but we were offered to take our room early if we’d like which was really helpful. Motel one always go above and beyond if there is an occasion during your stay (I.e. it’s Christmas, Easter, etc), and add fun touches around the hotel for guests. The location is ideal for an Edinburgh stay. Right next to Waverley and between the old and new towns. It’s central for all big Edinburgh landmarks. The only reason the score was 9 and not 10 is because the bathroom could be improved with some small extras - conditioner, for example. Otherwise we had nothing we’d suggest for improvement, particularly at the price point of the hotel.

We really enjoyed the overall feel and location of the Motel One Royal, but having to access our rooms by using two elevators or stairwells was rather inconvenient. All of The staff we encountered were truly friendly and accommodating!
Staff was friendly and was able to accommodate my request. Room was clean and quiet. Bed and pillows were comfy! I’m still puzzled why there were clothes hangers in the closed, but no place to hang them, only shelves and no hooks anywhere in the room, I searched the whole place 🤣
Check in was easy and quick, room was decent though weird since I think I got a handicapped room and didn't need. Bar was open late which was nice. Central to everything. Bed comfortable, temperate was adjustable, street sounds were mostly quiet though you can hear everything happening inside the hotel

This hotel is in an amazing location and it’s so cute! The staff is so friendly, they have a great lounge area which has great spread for breakfast, and a full bar to sit and have a cocktail in after your day! Our room overlooked Waverly Bridge and worked great for two people. We were put in an ADA room which was nice because of the extra space but wished we would have had a bit more storage, and that the sink area (pedestal) had somewhere to set your belongings. Overall though I would highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Edinburgh!
Motel one was a nice experience located in the centre of Edinburgh. The room was quiet and pleasant and the staff were friendly.
Helpful staff always willing to help. Generally it is a friendly, warm and beautiful hotel. In Central Point, at the beginning of Edinburgh's Old Town. You go everywhere on foot. Next to the main railway station and all bus and tram stops. Continental breakfast in a place where you need to go in time to sit comfortably. Free coffee and tea are served after breakfast and until late in the evening.
A very clean,warm, hotel,rooms are spacious as are the bathrooms . The staff are extremely helpful and friendly could not fault anything would definitely recommend staying here I know we will come back.
The hotel is in a great situation to access Edinburgh. The lounge and bar area were very comfortable and the staff were professional and friendly.

Great location for Edinburgh. Staff are always polite and friendly. Main bonus on this visit was the no fuss, quick check in which was a great benefit as my wife had been unwell and was very tired after travelling. We were able to go to straight to our room prior to normal check in time which was greatly appreciated. Thanks for a great stay.

The Check-In staff were professional, cheerful and helpful.
My room was miles away. The TV was stuck on audio description and I slept with the fireplace on the TV as I couldn't turn it off. The cups for tea were unpleasant. There was no glass for water. No toiletries provided. My room was freezing cold and I was unable to change the temperature. I could hear the door slamming from the next door room. One of my towels was stained. No ironing board.

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. Fantastic location and modern hotel. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The only suggestion for improvement was more efficiency clearing the tables at breakfast.
Brought my young baby and staff were very helpful and approachable. Clean room and great location. The only fault I have is that the room was uncomfortably warm, especially at night. Staff were helpful and provided a fan, but that didn’t really help alleviate the heat in the room. I have stayed in the sister hotel close by and also found their rooms to be too warm.

We had a lovely weekend stay. Our room was clean and comfortable and we appreciate being able to decline daily cleaning. Staff were friendly. Not specific to the hotel, but your website, emails and app could be improved in efficiency.

V hotelu Motel One Edinburgh-Royal jsme pro vás doslova rozvinuli tyrkysový koberec, abychom vás jako hosty uvítali královským způsobem. Před krásnou kulisou Starého Města v Edinburghu, které je mimochodem na seznamu světového dědictví UNESCO, vás přivítáme v historické budově s jedinečným interiérem: královský venkovský styl se tu setkává s přirozeností a rozlehlostí Skotské vysočiny. Kromě dobře známé tyrkysové tu tentokrát najdete i spoustu zelené. Botanické dekorační prvky a stěna recepce osázená pravým mechem a kapradím tak vnáší kouzlo skotské krajiny přímo do našeho hotelu. Ještě věrněji zachycuje flóru a faunu Skotska ve svých dílech fotograf Thomas Effinger, čímž dokonale vystihuje designový koncept našeho hotelu. Především v našich pokojích – nad čelem postele z tartanu v barvách typických pro Motel One – vypadají jeho fotografie úchvatně.
V našich pohodlných kontinentálních postelích se jako obvykle vyspíte dorůžova. A kdyby se vám přece jen stalo, že nebudete moci usnout, můžete zkusit počítat ovečky: Stěny naší One Lounge zdobí plastiky ovcí výtvarnice Marie Talalaeffové. Pokud vás ale spíše láká dobrá whisky, přijdete si na své v našem baru. Tady se lahve nejen vyprazdňují, ale především také obdivují: Světelný strop nad barovým pultem se skládá z 50 karaf na whisky a je opravdovou pastvou pro oči. Podle toho, kdy se dostanete do postele, se následující den můžete těšit na bohatou nabídku našeho snídaňového bufetu, který zve ke královské hostině.
Do své královské rezidence v Edinburghu se pohodlně dostanete pěšky z nádraží Waverly nebo autobusem z letiště Edinburgh. A centrální poloha našeho designového hotelu – od proslulé Královské míle ho dělí jen několik postranních uliček – nabízí navíc celou řadu možností. Díky krátkým vzdálenostem je náš levný hotel ideálním výchozím bodem pro objevování města a všech jeho památek. Projděte se po Královské míli, vydejte se do centra na nákupy nebo se v Národním muzeu ponořte do skotské historie. I další zajímavá místa jako Královská botanická zahrada, Princes Street, památník Waltera Scotta a dům Johna Knoxe jsou snadno dosažitelná pěšky. Stejně tak najdete v bezprostřední blízkosti našeho hotelu mnoho hospod, restaurací a kaváren. Pokud vás to táhne do přírody, ale nemáte čas na výlet na Skotskou vysočinu, nabízí se jako alternativa výstup na Artušovo sedlo v parku Holyrood.
