The hotel setting - bar, restaurant, decor, staff were outstanding. Loved late check out and early check in. Did not like that there were no glasses to drink the water from that I gif as a member ,coffee cups etc were for coffee). Shower and bathroom facilities were low quality. All spotlessly clean however. Would definitely stay again. Central urban location was brilliant.
The room had dirty finger marks all over the ceiling
Great hotel, well priced with a great location. I would personally like to thank Charlotte and the housekeepers for finding my missing house key and arranging to get it back to me.
Staff were welcoming and very friendly. Room was very clean and bed very comfortable. Food and drink were amazing
Good stay. Rooms small but tidy and comfortable. No Draught beer in the bar is a put off. Right in middle of town. OverLl would love to come back.
Great location , clean rooms with very comfy beds , only down side no deal with local car park like other hotels have in the area so was expensive parking the car .
Lovely hotel and very friendly staff
Great location. Friendly helpful staff, quiet and comfortable rooms. Best beds and pillows for a good nights sleep. Love the reception bar lounge area. Always good to stay.
Quite dusty on the floor by the bed. Otherwice nice and clean room. Would have liked better lights in the room. The breakfast was nice and clean. Good coffee. Would wish for more different youghurts but it was nice selections overall. Fun with the painting on the eggs, made me smile. Very nice and helpfull staff
All the staff I encountered were very nice and professional. The lobby area is very nice. Breakfast is a bit pricey for a continental breakfast. The rooms, while are nicely appointed, are small. No bin in the bedroom? There was an unfortunate 2 hour episode of 2 shouty women on my floor between 1:30 and 3:30 in the morning however I have not lowered my score on this as was not the hotels fault.
A great central location within a short stroll of the railway station with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.
Our 4th visit to Motel 1 in Newcastle. I wouldn’t choose anywhere else. Good points:- Friendly & happy staff; very clean throughout; bed and pillows amazingly comfortable, central location - in fact, no faults at all.
Room was a bit cold and milk and sugar was not replaced. Apart from that a very comfortable stay.
Experience overall was really good. Location is ideal, comfortable bed. The staff were great. It would've been nice to have pate as an opinion at breakfast.
Nice and central
Room far too warm, air con didn’t work
This hotel is a wonderful location close to everything. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was good but possibly a few hot items would have made it perfect. Although rooms are small but they are sufficient for a one night stopover. Overall a good choice.
Upon arrival, warm and polite greeting. Upon entering room was struck as to how basic it was but then for £94 it is what you would expect. Room clean. Mattress and pillows great. No drinking water in the room which is awful CX. Bar would only take cash so could not buy water. Room too hot so woke up dehydrated. No water so felt distressed as normally at home you'd wander downstairs and get a glass of water. Had to make a decaf coffee due to no water. Only got 4 hours sleep due to guests entering at 3am and continuing to party upstairs. At 4am someone else entered level 3 and continued to slam their door time and time again for 15 minutes. I called reception who said they would address the issues and did. Breakfast chaotic. No staff to assist with broken hot drink machine. Am going to ask Egencia to remove you from the platform.
GPT-4o mini Web Open menu Please help me write a review for my time at motel one Check in very friendly and efficient, room.ridy and vkeane and breakfast nice. What let it down is the lack of sleep and the disturbance. Unfortunately I only managed a few hours sleep as around 3am on floor 5 there was a major disturbance of what sounded like at least 3 people having a very loud argument outside my door. Lots of shouting, swearing, screaming and quiet. I'm sure I'm not the only guest who was kept awake by this for at least an hour in the early hours Certainly! Here’s a review based on your experience at Motel One: Review of Motel One I recently stayed at Motel One and had a mixed experience. The check-in process was very friendly and efficient, which set a positive tone for my stay. The room was tidy and clean, and I appreciated the nice breakfast options available in the morning. However, my experience was significantly marred by a major disturbance during the night. Around 3 AM, I was unfortunately kept awake for about an hour due to a loud argument happening outside my door on the fifth floor. It sounded like at least three people were involved, and the shouting, swearing, and screaming made it impossible to get a good night's sleep. I can't help but feel that I wasn't the only guest affected by this disruption. While I enjoyed the amenities and the service, the lack of sleep due to the noise was quite disappointing. I hope that the management can address such disturbances in the future to ensure a more restful experience for all guests. Overall, I would rate my stay as average, with the potential for improvement in noise management.
Great value for money. Great location. No iron/iron board in the room, have to get one from reception. Breakfast is overpriced for what it is.
Great hotel, used as a base for shopping and a concert so only in it for sleep but was a perfect location.
Great location, very modern and clean
Clean and comfortable with good service. Lack of a hot breakfast a big minus though and the cold buffet is poor value.
Hotel was only 5 mins walk from Newcastle rail station. Room was ready on time, friendly helpful staff. Bar open until late! Very close to bars and clubs but the room was dead quiet. Bed and pillows lovely! Will be back.
Amazing location in heart of city and a lovely street! Hotel perfect for a weekend break, only problem was the room was a little small for two people, but it was spotless and staff very helpful!
Staff very helpful. Situation central. Furnishing's, bedrooms etc excellent smart, immaculate- price very good. I try to find MotelOne wherever we go. Booked again for friends overnight again next year
Very friendly staff felt very welcome Was clean and big choice for breakfast Stylish
Fantastic hotel ,excellent staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very good and clean great selection of beers in the bar as well will definitely stay here again
Had a lovely overnight stay. The room was clean and the bed was super comfy. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Lovely ,comfortable rooms.Staff are so Friendly and helpful .So central and excellent value
A very good base for a stay in Newcastle. The room was clean and comfortable although do be aware that there is a nightclub opposite so rooms on the street might suffer noise from that. Excellent bar area and the continental breakfast has a very good selection. The staff were cheerful and friendly.
Very central,lovely clean hotel
Great stay. Comfy bed, staff helpful and friendly and close to the city centre.
One of, if not, THE best hotel experience I've had in the UK. Rachel on the front desk was welcoming, polite and extremely informative with how the hotel operates. I was only there for a night to catch a show at the Tyne Theatre so I was happy with a basic and clean hotel. Motel One looked like a palace you would find in Greece. Incredible decor, very inviting and should definitely be more than 3*s as advertised. I ended the night with an extremely lush Negroni made by a talented mixologist who recommended well. The bar is exceptional. I had a great night's sleep and contrary to other reviews, the wifi was strong, there was no noise from outside and I managed to sleep throughout the night undisturbed. Given how often I travel for work, that was the greatest reward of all!
We had to book last minute due to hospital admission of a family member. Charlie was extremely helpful and sympathetic of our situation and we are very grateful.
Had a great couple of days staying at Motel one, staff were great, modern hotel, very clean,as we're the rooms, close to good bars and restaurants in Newcastle
We arrived early 1pm and was told room was ready, which was lovely. We where given a free upgrade which was classy thank you. The staff where happy and pleasant and nothing to much trouble. We have booked again for future visit.
We have stayed at this hotel several times now and love it. This time our room was really small compared to other times when we have stayed
Modern very clean very central, but lovely caring helpful staff.
Hello, the reception staff and the staff in the bar and at breakfast were very welcoming and professional. Such a shame that the bed was made up of 2 singles rather than a queen sized bed. I found the breakfast to be very poor considering I paid £13.50 for it. There was only boiled eggs as a hot item (other than toast). I don't feel that having the jams/yoghurt out in large bowls is very hygienic in this day and age. The plates very very small, meaning you needed 2 if you wanted toast and eggs. Poor show basically, which let the whole stay down.
Staff lovely. Lobby and bar also very nice. Bathroom had a horrible smell on arrival with a disgusting coloured toilet brush. Poor noise insulation on the room door which was considering we were the closest room to the elevator.
Great location, Great hotel!! Very clean and staff were very friendly. Very impressed with our room and the continental breakfast had loads of choice. I would 100% stay here again.
Myself and my husband had a lovely one night stay in Motel one the bed and pillows were really comfortable lovely soft white towels and a lovely shower. The staff were really friendly. Had a lovely lounge to relax and have a drink. We would definitely stay there again
Stayed here a few times now and always have a great time .... nice room spotlessly clean . floor i asked for ... will definately be back ....
Staff were fabulous , the lounge and bar areas fabulous. Location spot on. The room wasn’t as nice as expected , carpet felt dirty due to brown colour and decor very dated. I didn’t like the paper cups for hot drinks and lack of storage for clothes etc.
Staff brilliant , Location Brilliant, Room OK. Overall very good
Jackie leaves the room excellent and. Charlie is so helpful at reception
Room was not what I was expecting didn’t look like rooms on the website? Woodchip wallpaper? Room was ok for cleanliness, Paper cups for the coffee and tea not great. Would have preferred proper cups. The hotel reception area was lovely. Staff lovely. Overall the room was a letdown.
A wonderful place to stay. Excellent customer experience and the breakfast was exceptional. Will definitely use again
Room thick of dust - lightening poor very basic

Location and surroundings
Full of natural charm
Our centrally-located Motel One Newcastle is warmed by the charm of raw brickwork, in the form of a genuine brick façade with an industrial style harking back to the history of this working-class city. The interior design takes as its motif the bridges over the Tyne, and the stylish faux-industrial bar pays homage to the achievements of Robert Stephenson, who designed the Rocket steam locomotive. Real leather furniture by Baxter and fine rugs by Jan Kath complement the look. Elegant details such as chairs by Arketipo with distinctive steel frames, and mirrored shelving stocked with carafes of whisky add touches of charm.
And of course, it is no accident that the striped wallpaper at reception is in Newcastle United colours. Even the location in the city’s historic centre suits the industrial-modern style of our affordable Design Hotel. Sights such as the Theatre Royal, Grey’s Monument and Newcastle Town Hall are close at hand, the hotel is handy for the central station, and the airport is easily accessible.
Book your room in our Design Hotel and experience the rich contrasts between “old” industrial and “new” modern design.
