Excellent can’t fault anything with this hotel , ideally location near the city centre.. Very helpful and friendly hotel staff nothing was to much trouble for them
We had a very professional and polite booking and welcome by Andrea Fernandez and her Team on on 24th April 2025 at noon .
+ Friendly staff, useful lobby space, interesting location, comfortable bed, TV reception works (hello Piccadilly 😕) - Lobby furniture hard-used (esp ‘fur’), printing didn’t work, and the rooms on the alley side: 3m from office building and above glaring security light and restaurant exhaust fan. Location a bit sketchy. If the busy-week price was the regular price it would be poor value, hence the response below. Q. Why mop the floor during a busy breakfast?? Would stay again if other 2 properties were full and ask for a room on the other side.
The staff was very caring and polite. The hotel is very clean. The breakfast was excellent but pricey. The view from 732 was not great and the mattress too hard . The carpet looked a bit grim even if it was clean I'm sure. Overall good experience
High quality facilities, well located and great value
Great location and overall value for money
Hotel was located well, bright, clean and tidy with a good shower. The staff were lovely even though they were very busy. The lifts were slow.
Hotel in a great location and very reasonably priced. Was on the 6th floor and found it quiet. The room was a decent size for the price paid. Had aircon too which was a bonus as I stayed there over probably the two hottest days in May! Only issue I had was that the hairdryer in the room didn’t work. I hadn’t bothered to ask for a new one but I did mention on checkout to reception and they did apologise so I guess if I had asked for a replacement they would have sorted it.
I have stayed various times in your hotel and like to stay there when i visit Manchester. this time it was even better than always as I was lucky that Ginerva was in reception and helped me with registering on the site to become a member, so i can book directly with you and was extremely helpful with all my queries and needs. The motel one is central and very easy to reach anywhere in Manchester.
Clean, efficient service, friendly staff
Another really great stay
Efficient check in, reasonable sized room with a very comfortable bed, and a really nice bar with sensible prices. A pleasant buffet breakfast with a fair selection of food options.
All staff were very pleasant and helpful. Hotel was spotless and such a fantastic location. Will definitely be back.
The hotel is located in the city centre, but the rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable. The staff is professional and friendly.
Exactly what you need for a city centre hotel room.
Friendly and quick check in Room was quiet and clean Lifts came quickly too, which isn't always the case in high rise hotels
Comfortable in a great location.
Only positive thing was the location. Stood in a queue for 20 minutes waiting to check in. Room was very small . No lighting. . Poor bedding. .thin duvet. No cups in room. Won't be back
Motel was nice for this price only the microwave is missing in the rooms.
Having stayed in one of their hotels in Edinburgh we didn’t hesitate to book one in Manchester for a visit to the theatre , as in Edinburgh we thou roughly enjoyed the whole experience and would definitely use the chain again.
Clean rooms. Comfy beds. Great location. Tasty breakfast. All you need for a good stay
Great value for money in a central location
Enjoyed a one night stay at a great price over the bank holiday weekend. The hotel was ideal so near to all the shops . Staff all very helpful and pleasant. This was my second stay at this hotel .Stayed last year with a friend when we came for a concert in Manchester. Will be back and highly recommend Motel One .
Perfect location for a short stay in the city.
Great location friendly staff
I love this hotel! I’ve been to Manchester 3 times and I’ve stayed here every time. It is only 20-30 min taxi drive from the airport which is reasonably cheap. It is so close to everything, huge shopping centre 2 min walk away. Lots of shops, restaurants, bars all walking distance right outside the hotel. Lots of fun museums & activities to do that are all very close, I could walk everywhere, the only taxi we took was from the airport. The hotel staff are always friendly and helpful. The lifts are fast, the room is spacious and always clean and has everything you need (good hairdryer, shampoo, coffee etc). Great wifi and air conditioning/heating. I would 100% recommend that you stay at this hotel, it is great I don’t have anything bad to say about it at all!
Excellent reception staff. Very helpful with assisting to get into the parking garage at the hotel. Great location, very clean rooms and good value for money.
Always good. A great position for shops and restaurants. Staff friendly. Room clean and all you need for an overnight.
Very nice stay. Clean and staff very helpful and friendly. One thing I would suggest is a second bin in the room as we only had the one in the bathroom
This hotel is in an ideal central location I regularly stay here especially when I’m visiting the Royal Exchange Theatre. It’s comfortable, modern and clean -I had a great night’s sleep. There is a lovely bar area.
Booked to stay again the same day as checked out! Beautiful hotel and lovely staff! Amazing location!!
Wonderfully positioned for REXx theatre and city centre shopping. Friendly staff, rooms clean and well designed. Shower and WC clean. AC not very good as my little it was difficult to turn temperature down. Breakfast buffet excellent. Overall a good experience.
Very convenient hotel, comfortable bed, room too warm with ineffective air-con. Clean, good bathroom
We had to book the room at short notice due to our original guest being over booked. Staff were very helpful.
Check in was efficient. My room was spotlessly clean with comfortable bed and super large screen television. The bathroom was equally clean with nice organic handwash and shower wash and good lighting.
Clean . Great location . Nice staff . Good bed All round very nice stay .
Consistently good hotels. The staff at the manchester exchange hotel are always friendly. I do wish that there were plug points near the mirror in the rooms though.
Great central location. My hotel experience was marred by at first not being able to find the room thermostat, arriving late and befuddled with tiredness. Shiverred with cold that night, there was no extra blanket in the room. For the second night I’d mananged to turn of the cold air. It proved impossible to reactivate it. Luckily the natural temperature was acceptable, if sadly stuffy. On the first morning I asked staff for a blanket. Got a sheet. Asked again, got a fitted mattress cover. Gave up on the blanket.
Overall our stay was good. The room was a little smaller than we expected, breakfast was good and location great for the City
Convenient. Clean & tidy. Efficient.
We booked a family room. It was huge. There was a very large double bed and a single bed. I took the single and it was very comfortable. The shower was great. The continental breakfast was fine and plenty there for vegans. Staff were all very friendly and attentive.
Curtains do not block out any light whatsoever Not enough space to open 2 suitcases on the floor - given that there is no wardrobe or other space, that is not very practical Safe would not lock - keypad was not functioning properly TV not watchable due to picture freezing every few seconds Staff and location were great When I tried using Booking.com I received no response to my questions - that has NEVER happened in all the years of using Booking.com i.e. that a property/hotel did not respond at all
Great value for money, very central location in Manchester.
Amazing! All of the staff are so so lovely and willing to help you out in any way.
Great and very central
Superb hotel. Perfect location.
A great hotel in a great location. Friendly staff, great breakfast.
Pleasant stay. Excellent location. More room for luggage would help. At reception we were assisted by Ginevra who is really professional and kind. She knows how to make guests feel welcome and special.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Motel One Manchester. The location was superb, I was greeted by such a warm and friendly welcome at check in which made me feel so welcome. The lobby was attractive and inviting. My room although small was spotless and had every amenity and a clever usage of space. I particularly liked the bathroom. The bed was very comfy and it was quiet, those are the three major criteria's for me when staying in a hotel. Clean, attractive room. Comfortable bed. Peace and quiet. Breakfast was great and the breakfast waitress was so friendly and could not do enough. I would always recommend a Motel One and hope to stay with you again soon. Many thanks
Lovely and clean hotel with lovely staff too x

Location and surroundings
Your Motel One with industrial chic
Our Motel One Manchester-Royal Exchange is designed with a trendy faux-industrial look in memory of Manchester’s golden era when it was known as “Cottonopolis”: all about cotton as a raw material and its processing. The foyer is dominated by six-metre high round steel arches and a wall of printed cloth, as a foretaste of our theme. Furniture by Baxter and hanging lamps by Alturo Alvarez are complemented by details such as spools of thread and spinning machines.
The main eye-catcher is a wall installation entitled "Cottonopolis" by paper artist Andy Singleton, composed entirely of shapes cast by innumerable single threads.
Our affordable hotel is situated right opposite the Royal Exchange Theatre in the very heart of Manchester. The Town Hall, Manchester Cathedral, Manchester Arena and the Manchester Central Convention Complex are within walking distance, and both Victoria and Manchester Piccadilly stations are within easy reach.
Visit us in Manchester and find out about the centre of the cotton trade.

Cool Cotton
Classic British furniture, paper sculptures and more will transport you to "Cottonopolis" - 19th century Manchester.

Cutting Edge
Paper artist Andy Singleton has proven a steady hand for Motel One Manchester-Royal.
