Very clean and a great location.
Very nice, modern and clean room. effective aircon is a huge bonus. the meeting room in the lobby is well appointed and peaceful, good location and easy to get to.
Second time stay and it was excellent. Location is near to shops and arena with lots of great restaurants on the door step.
Great location, lovely staff, good bed :) A bit noisy street outside!
Great customer service. Went to hotel an hour or so early to see if they had a bag drop and was allowed access to room as it was ready. Really nice welcome suprise. Great, clean and peaceful hotel. Would stay again.
Ideally situated near the main shopping area and a short walk from the numerous bars and restaurants of central Manchester. Friendly staff and welcoming common parts. The rooms are small though well equipped and clean. Breakfast is continental which will not be to some people’s tastes though it is adequate with a good selection. I book a view room (311 this time) and enjoyed my 2 day stay apart from the person in the next room having a phone ping message receipts from 6am.
Stayed a few times. Booked 'special one' not worth the extra. Room was smaller that nor.al and bed was very uneven. Mattress seriously needing replacement.
Efficient, friendly staff. Hotel felt safe. Perfect for someone needing a good quality room at reasonable price.
excellent staff - very comfortable bed - pleasant ground floor facilities (but from experience I expected those to be good)
Comfy bed - nice bathroom with fluffy towels Good breakfast - no complaints
Always enjoy staying at Morel One, Royal Exchange in Manchester. But please, hotter showers! Water always lukewarm.
I like this hotel as it is waking distance to the shops, restaurants and the major train stations. The bedrooms are extremely comfortable and clean. (Not a big fan of the short cable kettles or the plastic cups though) The staff are extremely lovely. Especially Fatima, Georgia, Mo, Eve, Nile and Michael on reception. Lovely Matthew makes fatantastic coffees. Mario and Andrea's (Sorry if that is the wrong spelling) are very good at the cocktails. I will be definitely staying again very soon. Thanks guys. X
very clean room and lovely shower with a fantastic bar area downstairs and very reasonably priced.
Friendly welcome and comfortable room. Breakfast was plentiful and all areas were clean and tidy. Great location less than 15 mins from station
Kind and attentive staff.. clean room and convenient location
Hotel reception was lovely. Room was nice and clean, I would recommend more milk for the hot drinks though. The room was much smaller than we were expecting, even though it was clean and functional.
Excellent Location, Clean and Friendly Staff. Room was next to the lift so lots of noise but apart from that OK.
Lovely hotel
This is the second time we have stayed at Motel One, Royal Exchange. We like the location near tram stops and lots of bars and restaurants. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
A number of points about the booking and stay were disappointing and hence the score of 4, and whether I would stay at the hotel again or recommend to others. We booked the room as we were visiting Manchester to attend a concert on Saturday evening. Unbeknown to us it was the weekend of the Manchester Marathon and as such the price of the room was somewhat inflated! I booked the room in advance with the option to cancel nearer to the time if necessary. A week before the stay I wanted to the cancel the room however I couldn't find a booking confirmation in my email to cancel the room. When I received the check in email on Thursday evening with the booking confirmation I went to cancel online but wasn't able to do so. Following a phone call with the reservations team I was informed that the cancellation policy of cancelling the room up to 6pm on the day of check-in did not apply this weekend and the room had to be cancelled 3 days before, otherwise a 90% charge would be applicable. Despite me explaining that I had not received a confirmation email at the time of booking and therefore had no booking details so I was unable to find the reservation number, the operator said it was not possible to cancel. Therefore as I did not want to pay £250 to cancel the room, we stayed. On check-in the reception staff were friendly and check-in was quick. The room was clean and tidy, however the cushions on the bed were damp and highly fragranced, I'm guessing from fabric deodoriser, which was very overpowering. When we went to have a shower the lights in the bathroom didn't work and whilst the reception team did get them back working, when we returned at night we experienced a problem with them coming on and it took repeated efforts of taking the room key in and out before they came on - which was very frustrating. In addition there was an extremely strong smell of marijuana on the hotel corridor which was extremely unpleasant, and could be smelt through the door. I don't usually complain or write reviews, but I feel for the cost of the stay, which was £270, it felt the room or our experience was not reflective of the price paid.
Nice hotel, convenient location, helpfull staff
Lovely room and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was in a great location Would definitely stay here again
We were greeted warmly at reception and our bags were taken as we were a bit early for the room. Did a bit of shopping, got key and found that the room was very comfy and clean. Great breakfast next morning! Will definitely stay again. !
Perfect stay if you want something high end and cost effective and ticks all the core fundamentals of a great city centre hotel. Good service. Great beds. Convenient location.
Clean modern and great location
We’ve stayed at this location multiple times. It’s a great location, staff is always friendly and the rate is very reasonable. It’s always clean, comfortable and well presented. The bar area is lovely and always a good vibe. We have friends who come to Manchester all the time too and they now book this hotel each stay.
Location great and staff very helpful
Clean and calm environment and the rooms were clean and beds were comfortable, staff were friendly and helpful.
The water in the shower was not hot enough. Coffee at breakfast tasted off, and could not toast my bread. No gluten free options. Bathroom was noisy at night, so was bedroom due to tram at night.
The room was nice but there was an overwhelming smell of artifical room freshener. It was like there was a plug in smell or coming through the air con system that just could not be turned off. It was over powering and very artificial which was off putting. As I did not get to the hotel until 10pm, it was not worth the hassle of changing rooms. Room 335
Very limited breakfast options and worst juice Ive ever tasted. Comfy bed and good air conditioning.
Excellent accommodation, clean & quiet with lovely staff. Would benefit from an additional toaster as it takes 3 passes for crumpets which takes time when there's a que
Friendly staff and good service . Issue with TV in room - as internet based this kept freezing . Room 422 which was very annoying
Friendly staff, clean rooms and good quality breakfast.
Stay in this hotel weekly, really like it only issue is there is always something that doesn't work in the room, this week it was the tv
Room 4.08 - Saturday 11 April 26. I was very underwhelmed to be honest how basic the room actually was. I paid to upgrade to a ‘special one’ as the evening out was to celebrate my wife’s 46th birthday, (we had travelled over from Leeds). The room was tiny and whilst the shower was hot and the bed was reasonably comfortable there was simply nothing ‘special’ about the room and for £160 I wanted more. The view out of the window was of the street and scaffolding opposite and we heard every tram that went by. Again, the opposite of special. I would hope that there is some kind of complaints procedure to follow as this review should be considered that, a complaint. I’ve previously stayed at the Motel1 at Piccadilly which was significantly better. Would not recommend the hotel to friends or family and feel that to remediate this I’d like a significant refund or a complimentary stay another time.
Hi, you sent this evaluation to the wrong person. I am not Erik. I received also an invoice for Erik Johannesson. Please try to correct this.
Well located, friendly and professional staff, clean and well presented.
I felt very welcome at the hotel. the atmosphere was cosy, the stuff firendly - special thanks to Michael at the frontdesk for his help and also patience:) great breakfast, hotel location, design, comfortable, clean.. I had a great time, highly recommended.
Hotel rooms very clean, bar area spacious, staff helpful and friendly, breakfast good choice.
Superior room was very poor, not the usual expectation from Motel One. View into basement from window was a huge disappointment. Receptionist did a great job to help us find a new room, albeit just a standard room. Experience at St Peter's Square Motel One had always been absolutely perfect, so expected the same, but this hotel felt a lot less classy than other Motel One hotels we have stayed in.
A very impressive hotel. Helpful staff and everything that was needed while appearing very luxurious and value for money at the same time. Super comfortable. Lovely bar! Brilliant central location.
Staff welcoming rooms basic and bit warm Thought bottled water would be provided in the rooms as a welcome gesture Restaurant area for breakfast was very good and clean Parking overpriced and very tight space for our car
Great hotel and good location . Breakfast could be better but would stay again x
Great location, friendly and helpful staff
Quiet rooms, very comfy beds, great location and helpful staff
staff were great, room was a bit small and aircon was broken and had to report it.
Good hotel.
Everything was great. Everything went well. The rooms were fantastic and the service was too. Matthew and Evie were very helpful and provided a very good service. would recommend anyone and also select Motel One for future stays.
Excellent place to stay. Very clean and quiet.

Location and surroundings
Hotel Manchester Royal Exchange
Our Motel One Manchester-Royal Exchange is designed with a trendy faux-industrial look in memory of Manchester’s golden era when it was known as “Cottonopolis”: all about cotton as a raw material and its processing. The foyer is dominated by six-metre high round steel arches and a wall of printed cloth, as a foretaste of our theme. Furniture by Baxter and hanging lamps by Alturo Alvarez are complemented by details such as spools of thread and spinning machines.
The main eye-catcher is a wall installation entitled "Cottonopolis" by paper artist Andy Singleton, composed entirely of shapes cast by innumerable single threads.
Our affordable hotel is situated right opposite the Royal Exchange Theatre in the very heart of Manchester. The Town Hall, Manchester Cathedral, Manchester Arena and the Manchester Central Convention Complex are within walking distance, and both Victoria and Manchester Piccadilly stations are within easy reach.
Visit us in Manchester and find out about the centre of the cotton trade.

Cool Cotton
Classic British furniture, paper sculptures and more will transport you to "Cottonopolis" - 19th century Manchester.

Cutting Edge
Paper artist Andy Singleton has proven a steady hand for Motel One Manchester-Royal.
