This is the second time we have stayed at Motel One, Royal Exchange. We like the location near tram stops and lots of bars and restaurants. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
A number of points about the booking and stay were disappointing and hence the score of 4, and whether I would stay at the hotel again or recommend to others. We booked the room as we were visiting Manchester to attend a concert on Saturday evening. Unbeknown to us it was the weekend of the Manchester Marathon and as such the price of the room was somewhat inflated! I booked the room in advance with the option to cancel nearer to the time if necessary. A week before the stay I wanted to the cancel the room however I couldn't find a booking confirmation in my email to cancel the room. When I received the check in email on Thursday evening with the booking confirmation I went to cancel online but wasn't able to do so. Following a phone call with the reservations team I was informed that the cancellation policy of cancelling the room up to 6pm on the day of check-in did not apply this weekend and the room had to be cancelled 3 days before, otherwise a 90% charge would be applicable. Despite me explaining that I had not received a confirmation email at the time of booking and therefore had no booking details so I was unable to find the reservation number, the operator said it was not possible to cancel. Therefore as I did not want to pay £250 to cancel the room, we stayed. On check-in the reception staff were friendly and check-in was quick. The room was clean and tidy, however the cushions on the bed were damp and highly fragranced, I'm guessing from fabric deodoriser, which was very overpowering. When we went to have a shower the lights in the bathroom didn't work and whilst the reception team did get them back working, when we returned at night we experienced a problem with them coming on and it took repeated efforts of taking the room key in and out before they came on - which was very frustrating. In addition there was an extremely strong smell of marijuana on the hotel corridor which was extremely unpleasant, and could be smelt through the door. I don't usually complain or write reviews, but I feel for the cost of the stay, which was £270, it felt the room or our experience was not reflective of the price paid.

We were greeted warmly at reception and our bags were taken as we were a bit early for the room. Did a bit of shopping, got key and found that the room was very comfy and clean. Great breakfast next morning! Will definitely stay again. !
Perfect stay if you want something high end and cost effective and ticks all the core fundamentals of a great city centre hotel. Good service. Great beds. Convenient location.
Clean modern and great location
We’ve stayed at this location multiple times. It’s a great location, staff is always friendly and the rate is very reasonable. It’s always clean, comfortable and well presented. The bar area is lovely and always a good vibe. We have friends who come to Manchester all the time too and they now book this hotel each stay.

The water in the shower was not hot enough. Coffee at breakfast tasted off, and could not toast my bread. No gluten free options. Bathroom was noisy at night, so was bedroom due to tram at night.
The room was nice but there was an overwhelming smell of artifical room freshener. It was like there was a plug in smell or coming through the air con system that just could not be turned off. It was over powering and very artificial which was off putting. As I did not get to the hotel until 10pm, it was not worth the hassle of changing rooms. Room 335

Room 4.08 - Saturday 11 April 26. I was very underwhelmed to be honest how basic the room actually was. I paid to upgrade to a ‘special one’ as the evening out was to celebrate my wife’s 46th birthday, (we had travelled over from Leeds). The room was tiny and whilst the shower was hot and the bed was reasonably comfortable there was simply nothing ‘special’ about the room and for £160 I wanted more. The view out of the window was of the street and scaffolding opposite and we heard every tram that went by. Again, the opposite of special. I would hope that there is some kind of complaints procedure to follow as this review should be considered that, a complaint. I’ve previously stayed at the Motel1 at Piccadilly which was significantly better. Would not recommend the hotel to friends or family and feel that to remediate this I’d like a significant refund or a complimentary stay another time.

Muy buena la estancia en el Motel One de Nothern Quarter, la recepción muy amable, la cama super cómoda dormí genial las dos noches, almohada cómoda que ya es difícil conseguir, buena limpieza y la ubicación inmejorable, además de edificio muy bonito. Lo único que no me gustó fue que no hay suficiente presión en la ducha y que había poco espacio para guardar ropa.
El hotel es muy lindo y limpio. La atención vino excelente e inmejorable. Volveremos sin dudas
Situación inmejorable muy céntrico
Nos encantó por comodidad, desayuno, personal, diseño y ubicación. La pega que le ponemos es que no hicieron limpieza bajo la disculpa de que era sábado. Una pena, porque sino les pondría un 10.

Excelente ubicación
Buena ubicación. Cómodo, pequeño. Pero me encontré varias veces con cosas sucias, el elevador, la estancia, pegajosos. El desayuno la fruta en ocasiones me tocó fermentada. Mario el gerente del Bar fue muy amable, recomendó lugares para salir a comer y siempre que pudo ayudó con orientación aparte de que hace muy buen café.
La ubicación no puede ser mejor al lado del ayuntamiento muy cómodo para pasar unos días, el personal fantástico en especial Mario,que nos ayudó con el idioma y súper atento y muy amable lo mismo que Andrea asique darles las gracias,el hotel es recomendable 100/100 y los desayunos inmejorables

Trato personal de Andrea y Ginevra muy bueno
Mi esposa y yo nos hemos sentido como en casa. Hacia tiempo que no saliamos al Reino Unido y habiamos perdido un poco el oido para el idioma y sobre todo esa sensacion de no conectar desde hacia diez años de no manejar el idioma, pero nos lo pusieron muy facil tanto el recepcionista el primer dia y que ahora no me recuerdo de su nombre, como finalmente Mario (me recuerdo de su nombre porque se llama asi mi nieto) super afables, cercanos y eso como dije al principio, nos hizo sentirnos en nuestra casa.
Lo que peor me parece es que el personal de recepción no tenga silla o taburete para poder sentarse. Pasar un turno entero de trabajo de pie es muy duro...además de que las pantallas del pc están muy alejadas de la distancia a la que deben estar. Lo he visto en varios Motel One en los que he estado.
Ha sido una sorpresa extraordinaria a pesar de no haber tenido una experiencia previa en con la cadena hotelera . El concepto , el diseño , todo en armonía . Ubicación excelente . Tienen un manager :Mario , es un host de primera , inclusive participando más allá de su responsabilidades . Repetiremos a ojos cerrados

Lo único malo a destacar es la falta de armario en la habitación. Lo mejor fue en la cafetería encontrar a Andrea, un auténtico ángel, nos hizo una guía completa de Manchester, nos recomendó sitios para comer e incluso nos informó de los descuentos que teníamos por alejarnos en el hotel como por ejemplo en el Gimansio de al lado. Creo que Andrea debería estar en la recepción porque su amabilidad e información para nosotros fue muy valiosa.

A la habitación les falta algun mueble para poner la ropa, al igual que el lavabo no hay donde dejar los neceseres.

Hotel Mánchester-Royal Exchange
El diseño de nuestro Motel One Mánchester-Royal Exchange en el estilo industrial que tanto está de moda, recuerda a la tradicional vinculación de Mánchester con el algodón, por la que también se conocía como «Cottonopolis». Aquí todo gira en torno al algodón como materia prima y su proceso de mecanizado industrial. En la zona de entrada, los arcos de medio punto en acero de seis metros de altura y una pared de holán estampado te van preparando para la temática del diseño. Además de muebles de Baxter y lámparas de péndulo de Arturo Álvarez, encontrarás pequeños detalles como carretes de hilo o máquinas de hilar que le dan el toque final al diseño.
Un elemento destacable es la instalación de la pared, la «Cottonopolis» del artista Andy Singleton, que consigue que hilos sueltos se entrelacen hasta formar una obra de arte.
Nuestro económico hotel se encuentra directamente enfrente del teatro Royal Exchange Theatre en el centro de la ciudad de Mánchester. Puedes llegar andando al ayuntamiento, la Catedral de Mánchester, el estadio Manchester Arena y el centro de convenciones Manchester Central Convention Complex. También es muy práctico que te encuentres cerca de las estaciones de tren de Victoria y Manchester Piccadilly.
