Lovely Hotel. Breakfast was lovely to and reasonable.
Excellent location, kind and warm staff, nice breakfast
Always a very good experience. Super Location, very nice stuff, solid rooms (amongst the Motel One hotels not the best ones), great bar.
Our good experience started when we had approached Front Desk officer - Noah. He was very helpfull and accommodating - we got the best room quickly, received all our answers, booked a Taxi for the next morning etc. Keep up the good job, Noah!!!!
I wish you had rooms with 2 separate beds
You should provide water in the room
I had my room next to the elevator, and heard it all night long…
Friendly check-in. Good air conditioning upon arrival. Basic room amenities - could easily upgrade with simple things like drinking glasses (not paper cups), two towels, etc. Clean room and good plug locations.
The hotel is good it just misses a manager who adds that extra Touch. It just lack soul.
The hotel was nice but the air con didn't work well enough and the breakfast options for a non-dairy guest was very limited.
Earlier Check-in than 3 pm welcome!
During a strong heatwave. the AC controls were blocked and it was not possible to adjust the temperature of the room not being able to properly sleep due to the high temperature.
We are so glad we chose this hotel! The room was spacious, comfortable, and most importantly, spotlessly clean. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable, and we had a great night’s sleep every night. The location is excellent. The main train station is only about a 15–20 minute walk away, and the tram stops are just a few minutes from the hotel. We mostly explored the city on foot, and getting around was very easy. The breakfast exceeded all our expectations. There was a great selection of cheeses, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs, olives, fresh pastries, jams, honey, butter, excellent coffee machines, and even organic English teas. Instead of looking for a place to have breakfast every morning, eating at the hotel was the best choice. It saved us both time and money. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. They made us feel at home throughout our stay. If I ever visit this city again, I would definitely stay at this hotel again without hesitation. We were extremely satisfied with every aspect of our stay and highly recommend it.
good location, friendly at reception arrival city and restaurant information could have been better , snacks at bar not so great, room perfect and patio for breakfast very nice
Service and people were very good. This said, air conditioning did not work, the coolest place was the corridor when it was close to 28/29 inside the room...
Staff was friendly, breakfast was good. We thought it looked nice but the rooms didn’t have any drawers or any storage space for clothes at all. The floors were pretty dirty and didn’t look like it had been deep cleaned in a while. Living out of a suitcase was not fun. The air conditioning was TERRIBLE. It was in the 90s outside when we visited and we couldn’t sleep because the air conditioning was not working. We called the front desk to show us how to work the air conditioning and they told us “not tonight but someone will be by tomorrow.” No one came by. It was hot the rest of the stay. The shower had no door, so we had water all over the bathroom floor after showers. There was a strong smell of urine in the bathroom after we’d come back from being gone all day. Every time they would come in to clean our rooms, our personal belongings would be moved around in different places. Tissue boxes were never replaced in the bathroom after days of it being empty. Not impressed for $400/night
I had room 169. Nice room but street-facing where the tram goes by. The tram going till 1am and again from 5am left me with less than 4 hours sleep. Extremely noisy! You could even feel the vibration in the room from the tram going past.
not the first time I was staying at the hotel, but this time much more expensive...
Overall a great 2 night stay in modern hotel with air conditioning which was valuable in the heat wave. Enjoyed the lounge to watch FIFA games and the bar. Not too far by tram from train station and Altstadt. I would suggest having 2 chairs in the double rooms and improving bathroom products by adding lotion. And a kettle would be appreciated by many guests. Better price so I booked online.
Air conditioning didn't seem to work, it was uncomfortably warm in the room. Sink in bathroom drained really slowly.
I know it was hot during our stay, but we couldn't get the room as cool as we would like. Everything else was great!
Overall, I was very happy with my stay at this hotel, but I was mildly annoyed by one policy. I booked from Wednesday to Tuesday and wanted to stay for the following Wednesday night, but that Wednesday night was fully booked. This, I completely understood. However, when the date later became available, the system required a minimum booking of two nights. Preventing me from adding just one extra night felt unfair given I had already stayed the night before. As a result, I had to move out and find a different place for that one remaining night in Zurich.
First time at Motel One - and a very positive suprise. The rooms were nice, clean and very, very quiet. The breakfast was good, everything you would like to have. The only minus: Why build hotels with carpets in the rooms ? With allergies, cleanliness, contaminations - the best flooring material is wood (or laminate).
Everything was great except that, again, I have found some of the reception staff to be exceptionally rude. We arrived on Saturday at around 5pm and Max was very helpful. However the other person on reception, whose name I did not get, staggered all of the party with whom we checked in with his remarkable rudeness. I had to apologise to my group of people whom I had brought to Motel One for the rudeness of the person on reception. I do not know how this continues to happen - I travel the world all year spending 60 to 90 nights in hotels and this is the second time I have written a review like this about Motel One. I have never written a similar review of any hotel.
Great hotel! Very clean, convenient location, and was able to check in early!
Need coffee machine in room. Nespresso pods. Not enough trash cans. Need 2 not one. Need eggs at breakfast. Everything else ok.
Excellent service, excellent location
Bathroom door won't stay open but automatically shuts - on a hinge - small issue but means it gets really hot in the bathroom when you can't properly air out the room.
Modern clean and comfortable, without the frills of the more expensive hotels. Great for the business traveller who just needs somewhere comfortable to sleep.
I visited the hotel several times in the past weeks - average time to check in is between 20-30 min. The employees are very friendly, but it feels like the overal organisation is not sufficient for an efficient check in. Even with only 8-9 people in the que, I waited more than 20 min on Monday evening around 7pm. The wireless is rather week in the hotel. I had different rooms and similar experiences.
Climb steps to get enter hotel, people lounging in entrance area as if in own home. I guess that’s a given now. Breakfast offerings cut back from a year or two ago. Gets crowded. It’s a decent place to stay for a night. Cafes nearby for good coffee and quieter setting. Trams nearby
Extremely clean. Nice rooms. Fantastic breakfast
Very pretty hotel. The rooms had paper cups which weren’t refreshed on one day and there’s no fridge or tea and coffee available in the room.
well maintained hotel, well located, room small and dark, desk is missing
This hotel is excellent. Great location. Friendly stall. Fantastic breakdown. Highly recommended.
what is a shame is, that I forgot something in my room, informed my colleagues and it would been easy to just quickly go there an fetch it. Instead they were told to let me (who had already checked out) know, to email them exactly what was missing. Since there was not enough time before my colleagues left to this and wait for the result, I basically lost this item now.
The room didn't have an iron or any drink making facilities. I managed to get a steamer from reception but this didn't work at all.
Nice staff, just one thing, as a hotel used by a lot of business guests it makes sense to offer irons rather than steamers which are nowhere near as good at ironing shirts. The room is also not set up in such a way that hanging a shirt to steam it is possible as the plugs and suitable places to hang are far away from each other. I like the hotel but its a little thing.
No warm food at the breakfast, the room was so far from the elevators. The blanket wasn't large enough. I still want to have a possibility to have an iron, ideally in my room, having only possibility to borrow steamer go back to my room (taking like 5 minutes) and then bringing it back when I am done - just not comfortable for me to want to come back.
Most of the standard room specs misisng. No desk, no internal phone, no laundry bag, no bench, no bath accessories (ear cleaning cotton, soap, pair of towels etc) charging during check-in but invoice after check-out is not acceptable!
Great and comfortable hotel. Friendly staff and clean rooms with a comfortable bed
Reception staff fast, competent and helpful! Tiny bar lady competent & charming! Room carpeting higiene??? Overall everything fine!
Stayed dozens of times at Motel One in Zurich. Also this visit was as expected. Perfect! Check in was quick. Room was clean, same goes for bathroom. Everything functioned well. Breakfast delicious and plenty full. All in All the best deal in town.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and spacious. The breakfast was excellent as always. The only negative thing is there was no recycling bins in the hotel.
First room I was assigned to had a too loud fan. I complained and got a new room. However, the keycard was not remapped to this new room. I was unable to reenter my room on the next day. Also no room service after the first night was given because of this. As a compensation, I got a coupon for a water bottle which felt inadequate. ACs in rooms are limited by a certain temperature but I prefer sleeping in cold rooms which was not possible. Staff seemed a bit lost and unknowing of procedures. Undertrained or underpaid. Just overall bad experience
Given the lack of air conditioning in the rooms, would be good to provide fans in each room.
Hotel was very clean, air conditioning was good. The service at the reception was excellent. But the hotel room was missing basic amenities like shampoo, water, coffee or tea. Considering these, price was high.
Nice people at the reception. Room is simple but functional
Good location, excellent room, good shower, very comfortable bed. Cleanliness was very good. Issue with low battery on room safe and TV remote fixed quickly. Reception staff helpful.
Overall a more than positive feedback. Nice structure, nice rooms, nice bar open 24h. Twoconstructive feedback: breakfast con be improved, the vast usage of carpets (moquette) in corridors and rooms sounds "old". In the rooms in particular is also not very hygenic. the rank I give you below on cleaniness relates to the carpet in the room

Zurich
“Grüezi!” from Switzerland!
Switzerland’s largest city boasts a high standard of living and a distinctive setting between the Alps and the lovely Lake Zurich, making it a favourite with visitors. Motel One is, of course, on hand in this exciting city: our Design Hotel is just a short stroll from the lake shore offers individually designed rooms, cosy box-spring beds and free WiFi. At our centrally-located Zurich hotel, you can feel at home, start your day with a healthy breakfast and take in the best aspects of the city. Zurich is renowned for its shopping, fashion and lively night-life, and its numerous museums, galleries and international labels attract art and fashion aficionados from around the world. High time you put in a visit!
Budget Design Hotels in Zurich – your Motel One
Even though Zurich is Switzerland’s largest city and trendsetter, visitors will find it surprisingly compact to explore. Or you may prefer to pull on the hiking boots and use Zurich simply as a base for excursions into the surrounding countryside and wealth of nearby mountains. However, there is plenty to discover within the city limits too. Our hotel is not far from Paradeplatz, a square lined with banks and luxury boutiques where the city’s prosperity is on full display.
Carrying on down Poststrasse, you can’t miss the Fraumünster Church. One of three churches in the Old Town, the Fraumünster looks back over the centuries next to the equally imposing Stadthaus.
A visit to the Zurich-West district shows why trend scouts and travel guides alike have listed Zurich as a destination not to be missed. Once humming with industry, the area is now a focal point of the bar and art scenes, hosting experimental cuisine, artistic fancies and the sort of mad creativity that no-one would have thought possible in the Zurich of only a few years ago – or anywhere in Switzerland, in fact. What makes the place perhaps so special is the fact that this transformation is still ongoing, and subcultural influences are still to be seen with all the appurtenant charm and chaos.
Lake Zurich, the Opera House and the Swiss National Museum
When you’re ready to take a break from the bustle of the city, head for the shores of lovely Lake Zurich. Even though it’s right by the town (and our affordable Design Hotel too), it’s a place of leafy tranquillity. Spread out on the grass or sample the local cuisine in a lakeside café or restaurant.
The renowned Opera House is also found right by the lakeside. It houses audience of over a thousand, and has its own ballet company of 50 or so dancers. Zurich really does have something for everyone. Our Design Hotel staff can gladly advise you on what to see, whether you want to do it all, keep it minimal, concentrate on the old or focus on the new.
