Perfect Location in the middle of the City, near Lake Zurich!
The 2nd bed was not made up and I had to ask for bedding. The staff refused to deliver it and were rude when I asked for assistance.
Never seen a hotel that doesn't serv worm breakfast. I missed a second towel in the room and a kettle for making coffee in the room. Price is fare but the value is accordingly poor.
Noah at the front desk was wonderful! Moved us to a quieter and cooler room and gave us dinner reservations. I was considering changing hotels but Noah saved the day and is the reason we stayed The original staff member who checkd us in was not friendly and seemed to be making fun of us. He didnt offer any help beyond the required transactions or ask if we needed anything. Our first room was on a loud street side and very warm. Noah moved us to courtyard which was much better! Bar staff were wonderful!
The room rate was rather expensive. The air conditioning was noisy. And it was not possible to leave the bathroom door open.
Simply stated when I come to Zürich my number 1 choice is Motel One. Centrally located, yet quiet, friendly and professional staff, large, clean rooms, a sense of freshness in the rooms. Motel one in Zürich is my choice.
Fantastic hotel! Enjoyed a lot
Generally good value for money. Check in can be a bit slow. The rooms are generally clean and I really appreciate the integrity and thoughtfulness of the cleaning staff as on my previous stay I lost a (small) earring in the room and they found it and saved it for me.
value for price
It's a shame there is no minibar (refrigerator).
Easy to check in
Simple fast and easy check in check out ! Clean and comfortable room.
My stay was excellent but the price was very high.
Zurich MotelOne was our choice for a 2 night stop. It wasn’t too far from the railway station.
Nice room, nice room service, perfect location. They should have more adaptor for tourist however, the reception give me the hint which socket I should try.
Their air conditioning is non-existent; I tried 3 different rooms. The rest of the hotel is great, but AC is the primary reason to stay at this hotel, and they did not deliver.
Comfortable hotel, nice ambiance, good location, good breakfast.
Air conditioning in the room was inadequate.
It is an OK hotel for a short stay . Reception staff is friendly and effective . Bar is OK although quite expensive , Rooms are smalls but clean ( and bathroom very tight ) , and breakfast average
Best hotel in town…friendly staff. Great lounge & bar.
Lovely Hotel. Breakfast was lovely to and reasonable.
Excellent location, kind and warm staff, nice breakfast
Always a very good experience. Super Location, very nice stuff, solid rooms (amongst the Motel One hotels not the best ones), great bar.
Our good experience started when we had approached Front Desk officer - Noah. He was very helpfull and accommodating - we got the best room quickly, received all our answers, booked a Taxi for the next morning etc. Keep up the good job, Noah!!!!
I wish you had rooms with 2 separate beds
You should provide water in the room
I had my room next to the elevator, and heard it all night long…
Friendly check-in. Good air conditioning upon arrival. Basic room amenities - could easily upgrade with simple things like drinking glasses (not paper cups), two towels, etc. Clean room and good plug locations.
The hotel is good it just misses a manager who adds that extra Touch. It just lack soul.
The hotel was nice but the air con didn't work well enough and the breakfast options for a non-dairy guest was very limited.
Earlier Check-in than 3 pm welcome!
During a strong heatwave. the AC controls were blocked and it was not possible to adjust the temperature of the room not being able to properly sleep due to the high temperature.
We are so glad we chose this hotel! The room was spacious, comfortable, and most importantly, spotlessly clean. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable, and we had a great night’s sleep every night. The location is excellent. The main train station is only about a 15–20 minute walk away, and the tram stops are just a few minutes from the hotel. We mostly explored the city on foot, and getting around was very easy. The breakfast exceeded all our expectations. There was a great selection of cheeses, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs, olives, fresh pastries, jams, honey, butter, excellent coffee machines, and even organic English teas. Instead of looking for a place to have breakfast every morning, eating at the hotel was the best choice. It saved us both time and money. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. They made us feel at home throughout our stay. If I ever visit this city again, I would definitely stay at this hotel again without hesitation. We were extremely satisfied with every aspect of our stay and highly recommend it.
good location, friendly at reception arrival city and restaurant information could have been better , snacks at bar not so great, room perfect and patio for breakfast very nice
Service and people were very good. This said, air conditioning did not work, the coolest place was the corridor when it was close to 28/29 inside the room...
Staff was friendly, breakfast was good. We thought it looked nice but the rooms didn’t have any drawers or any storage space for clothes at all. The floors were pretty dirty and didn’t look like it had been deep cleaned in a while. Living out of a suitcase was not fun. The air conditioning was TERRIBLE. It was in the 90s outside when we visited and we couldn’t sleep because the air conditioning was not working. We called the front desk to show us how to work the air conditioning and they told us “not tonight but someone will be by tomorrow.” No one came by. It was hot the rest of the stay. The shower had no door, so we had water all over the bathroom floor after showers. There was a strong smell of urine in the bathroom after we’d come back from being gone all day. Every time they would come in to clean our rooms, our personal belongings would be moved around in different places. Tissue boxes were never replaced in the bathroom after days of it being empty. Not impressed for $400/night
I had room 169. Nice room but street-facing where the tram goes by. The tram going till 1am and again from 5am left me with less than 4 hours sleep. Extremely noisy! You could even feel the vibration in the room from the tram going past.
not the first time I was staying at the hotel, but this time much more expensive...
Overall a great 2 night stay in modern hotel with air conditioning which was valuable in the heat wave. Enjoyed the lounge to watch FIFA games and the bar. Not too far by tram from train station and Altstadt. I would suggest having 2 chairs in the double rooms and improving bathroom products by adding lotion. And a kettle would be appreciated by many guests. Better price so I booked online.
Air conditioning didn't seem to work, it was uncomfortably warm in the room. Sink in bathroom drained really slowly.
I know it was hot during our stay, but we couldn't get the room as cool as we would like. Everything else was great!
Overall, I was very happy with my stay at this hotel, but I was mildly annoyed by one policy. I booked from Wednesday to Tuesday and wanted to stay for the following Wednesday night, but that Wednesday night was fully booked. This, I completely understood. However, when the date later became available, the system required a minimum booking of two nights. Preventing me from adding just one extra night felt unfair given I had already stayed the night before. As a result, I had to move out and find a different place for that one remaining night in Zurich.
First time at Motel One - and a very positive suprise. The rooms were nice, clean and very, very quiet. The breakfast was good, everything you would like to have. The only minus: Why build hotels with carpets in the rooms ? With allergies, cleanliness, contaminations - the best flooring material is wood (or laminate).
Everything was great except that, again, I have found some of the reception staff to be exceptionally rude. We arrived on Saturday at around 5pm and Max was very helpful. However the other person on reception, whose name I did not get, staggered all of the party with whom we checked in with his remarkable rudeness. I had to apologise to my group of people whom I had brought to Motel One for the rudeness of the person on reception. I do not know how this continues to happen - I travel the world all year spending 60 to 90 nights in hotels and this is the second time I have written a review like this about Motel One. I have never written a similar review of any hotel.
Great hotel! Very clean, convenient location, and was able to check in early!
Need coffee machine in room. Nespresso pods. Not enough trash cans. Need 2 not one. Need eggs at breakfast. Everything else ok.
Excellent service, excellent location
Bathroom door won't stay open but automatically shuts - on a hinge - small issue but means it gets really hot in the bathroom when you can't properly air out the room.
Modern clean and comfortable, without the frills of the more expensive hotels. Great for the business traveller who just needs somewhere comfortable to sleep.
I visited the hotel several times in the past weeks - average time to check in is between 20-30 min. The employees are very friendly, but it feels like the overal organisation is not sufficient for an efficient check in. Even with only 8-9 people in the que, I waited more than 20 min on Monday evening around 7pm. The wireless is rather week in the hotel. I had different rooms and similar experiences.
Switch on. beOne.

Zurich
“Grüezi!” from Switzerland!

At our centrally-located Zurich hotel, you can feel at home, start your day with a healthy breakfast and take in the best aspects of the city. Budget Design Hotels in Zurich – your Motel One
Even though Zurich is Switzerland’s largest city and trendsetter, visitors will find it surprisingly compact to explore. Or you may prefer to pull on the hiking boots and use Zurich simply as a base for excursions into the surrounding countryside and wealth of nearby mountains. However, there is plenty to discover within the city limits too. Our hotel is not far from Paradeplatz, a square lined with banks and luxury boutiques where the city’s prosperity is on full display.
Carrying on down Poststrasse, you can’t miss the Fraumünster Church. One of three churches in the Old Town, the Fraumünster looks back over the centuries next to the equally imposing Stadthaus.
A visit to the Zurich-West district shows why trend scouts and travel guides alike have listed Zurich as a destination not to be missed. Once humming with industry, the area is now a focal point of the bar and art scenes, hosting experimental cuisine, artistic fancies and the sort of mad creativity that no-one would have thought possible in the Zurich of only a few years ago – or anywhere in Switzerland, in fact. What makes the place perhaps so special is the fact that this transformation is still ongoing, and subcultural influences are still to be seen with all the appurtenant charm and chaos.
Lake Zurich, the Opera House and the Swiss National Museum
When you’re ready to take a break from the bustle of the city, head for the shores of lovely Lake Zurich. Even though it’s right by the town (and our affordable Design Hotel too), it’s a place of leafy tranquillity. Spread out on the grass or sample the local cuisine in a lakeside café or restaurant.
The renowned Opera House is also found right by the lakeside. It houses audience of over a thousand, and has its own ballet company of 50 or so dancers. Zurich really does have something for everyone. Our Design Hotel staff can gladly advise you on what to see, whether you want to do it all, keep it minimal, concentrate on the old or focus on the new.
