Loved almost everything about the hotel, but felt the breakfast could have included more variety.
Friendly staff. Lovely modern but cosy interior. Very clean and the bed was comfortable.
Fast check in, lovely room. As always, every staff member was smiley and polite.
Great location, really stylish hotel, good size room/bathroom/shower and comfortable bed. Staff really friendly and helpful too.
I’ve stayed at this hotel a handful of times and have always had a great experience. Unfortunately, this most recent stay was very disappointing. From early in the morning, builders were outside my room discussing doors and screws before starting to install a fire door in the corridor directly outside. The noise was incredibly loud and far from ideal, especially after a late night. What I don’t understand is that the hotel wasn’t busy. If the work was planned, why was I allocated the room right next to it? It seems like it would have been easy to put guests in rooms away from the disruption. It’s a shame because my previous stays have all been excellent, but this experience really let the hotel down.
Great hotel, great value, my go to when staying in manchester
Lovely hotel , very clean and staff brilliant
We really enjoyed our stay. Staff were friendly. Great atmosphere and location. We will be definitely going back . So clean too . Improvement on the breakfast. Was expecting a hot breakfast. Please include a hot breakfast.
Very pleasant & comfortable accommodation. Reception .& bar staff very welcoming & friendly. Super comfortable bed. Pillows could do with an upgrade . Overall really enjoyed our stay.
Love this hotel, location is fabulous & the staff and do helpful
Excellent location for our needs.Very friendly staff and brilliant breakfast.
Ideally situated opposite the Royal Exchange theatre and close to Marks& Spencer’s. Clean, functional room with good quality bedding and bathroom
Absolutely amazing accommodation from the sticks to stir your coffee to an amazing shower 🚿 head all boxes were ticked ✅
We wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Great location, good rooms, comfortable beds and lovely staff. 2 small areas for improvement; no bedside table or shelf on one side of bed and no plug in the bathroom sink. Otherwise you would get 10/10!
Excellent experience - check in flawless. Room excellent for the price. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Top marks.
Everything was fine and as expected apart from a really bad drain smell in the bathroom (room 10-25). At first I thought maybe it was just a temporary “kick back” fume but it was constant. Was going to mention when I left but there was a queue at reception and I had to leave to get a train. Staff are lovely and room very nice otherwise.
Had a great stay. Hotel is lovely and modern and staff very helpful
Hotel was as expected… the checkin process was painful - long queue- 2 people on the check in desk and didn’t have a rush in them… a lot of customers (10+) where frustrated… Also no one on the bar either.. either very short staffed or the staff not organised
Had a great stay one of the cleanest hotels I have stayed at your housekeeping team are fantastic. Wonderful reception staff, warm and friendly. Well situated for all Manchester has to offer.
Good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, bed large and comfortable, bathroom very good, shower etc. Very little storage space in the room, tv very poor, kept cutting out on all channels in spite of a requested visit from maintenance.
Location is perfect from the train station and a short walk to the town. It is excellent if the hotel room has the small fridge for me to keep cold drinks.
Everything was great with the staffs and ambiance. jst a bit smelly in the room or mainly the bathroom.
Room was clean and comfortable but zero mobile signal. Breaksfast provided limited options - e.g. no juice or cooked/hot food.
Everything worked well - no problems
Friendly Team!!!
Clean and tidy, does the job. No frills, breakfast is basic but coffee okay. No Draft beer
Friendly staff, great breakfast, ideal location for my needs
Fantastic location, excellent staff, room comfortable and functional, bar area and staff amazing!
Staff super friendly, room and services all great. I had a blocked sink on arrival and workman fixed morning after. Overall a great place to stay and excellent value for money.
All good. Only limited selection of TV channels actually available.
Excellent location, great price, high standard of cleanliness, very friendly staff. Would recommend to anyone who wants to be right in the centre of the shopping district!
Great value, friendly staff, amazing city centre location, clean rooms, decent breakfast. Highly recommend.
This is a great choice for budget friendly accommodation in Manchester. The rooms are decently sized and the beds are cozy. The hotel is in a good location and well-connected by public transportation. The breakfast at the hotel is basic and offers a limited selection of items to start your day. I did have some troubles with the bedside tables though. The sharp corners of the table is on the same level as the bed and there is a high-chance for guests to accidentally be hurt in the sleep. I had bumped or scratched on it a couple of times in the sleep. Apart from this minor incovenience, everything else is perfect.
The air condition should be able to run all the time. It shut off after 2 hours, and I had to turn it on by myself. Not very good during the night, do I did not sleep well. Asked about this in reception, but did not get any help. Waited for maintenance to help, but nobody came.
Lovely and clean hotel staff friendly and helpful always use this hotel group if I can
Fantastic staff friendly and helpful the room may of been small but it was big enough and very comfortable
The hotel and room were excellent. The location was great, and the lady on reception, Maria, gave great service - she was very friendly, gave us a great room, and extended our check out time, as we were in Manchester to celebrate my partner’s birthday.
Lovely friendly welcome from staff at reception, room was nice, place was nice & cool (stayed while weather was very hot). Great location. Well presented & delicious breakfast. All staff seemed happy at their job. Would definitely recommend.
Great location, staff helpful & welcoming and room spotless
First time at Motel One, enjoyed our stay , fab hotel Bar staff when we stayed were brilliant especially with the World Cup banter, 10/10
Enjoyed the service staff friendly and always ready to help well done
The reception staff was outstanding
We really enjoyed our stay. Lovely clean room, comfy bed, amazing double glazing that was practically sound proof. We had a small issue with a noisy neighbour, but it was delt with very quickly. I loved being able to control the temperature of our room, especially as we stayed during a heatwave. All staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
Amazing stay as usual I just wish to deep clean the carpet
Very conveniently located hotel; I had a nice room with a view, a tea cooker, a comfortable bed and a little table (!) (an unusual thing in a hotel nowadays). The shower worked OK (could have been a bit stronger, but then, it was on the 11th floor), and the air con worked perfectly. The only (slight) drawback: a couple of shelves or a drawer to put in clothes would be nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only thing I would like you to take a bit more care is the breakfast: the coffee was simply not drinkable (and I am used to the American swill), and the cheese had a very weird taste (probably not too fresh). Otherwise: a very good deal; I continue to recommend Motel One to friends.
Motel one is always my preference when I visit cities. A quality hotel for a competitive price and in Manchester, when we visit the Bridgewater Hall it's so handy! As a one member I like the free water and reduced rates. I especially like the fact we have been put in the corner room ie 350/ 450 as more spacious and quiet. We chose to have breakfast in the morning as not overpriced and fresh quality food. And staff very attentive and refreshed food regularly. Bar staff friendly and complimented me on my outfit that made me feel good. Overall the Motelone ethos is high standards and good staff training that is the norm not just a one off. Look forward to my return in November ( if not before!) I book through the app so think this may be useful to add to booking question.
The air conditioning always switch off itself...that's no good when we are sleeping, all sweat.
Lovely friendly staff. Beautiful clean hotel
Poppy was excellent and greeted me when i arrived, it had been a long journey because of the heat and train cancellations, and we chatted and i was given a bottle of water, and my room keycards, i was next to the lift so that was a little annoying during the night/early hours. breakfast was lovely, as usual, you have a great selection, and checking out was brilliant, nice and fast and poppy was lovely again, the only downside of the stay, was when i came back to the hotel the door wouldn’t open, and even though there were staff inside and it was a journey around to the other entrance, but a great stay nonless, i’d happily return many times,
Having worked in restaurants, bars and hotels myself, at a managerial level, I am always impressed by staff who work very hard and provide good service. This is the case with the guys who work here. The place was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The guy on the bar was a little short tempereded with me at first, and then became friendly. I did not enjoy this welcome. He was working very hard and he was very focused on his tasks, but I did feel a bit his initial greeting was slightly rude. I completely understand his position (I have been in it myself many times) it's low pay and long hours and he has to deal with a lot of irritating people. But I would recommend a little more refinement in his demeanor. I didn't enjoy feeling unwelcome. Other than that, I would stay here again. It's a good place.
Switch on. beOne.

Budget Design Hotels in Manchester – your Motel One
The city once plagued by the darker side of industrialisation is now a vibrant place to live and a popular destination for short stays, city breaks and weekend trips. Tour this former stronghold of the Industrial Revolution and you can’t help noticing the canals crossing the city. Used for transporting goods while industry was still booming, now the old warehouses along their banks are a distinctive element of the city’s image. Spacious loft apartments, chic bars and modern flats are now housed in these towering brick edifices, symbolising Manchester’s rebirth in modern times.
The Lowry cultural centre is also on the waterside at the Salford Quays docklands development. This complex, comprising two theatres, several galleries, cafés and restaurants, is built on what was formerly a reloading point for the cotton industry. Cross over the Manchester Ship Canal to reach the Imperial War Museum North, conceived to resemble a shattered globe shape, symbolising the effects of war.
Old Trafford, the Manchester Art Gallery and the Northern Quarter
Football’s coming home! Football fans are of course entirely spoilt in Manchester, and the Old Trafford stadium, home of Manchester United, is also a prime example of effective stadium architecture. Take a two-hour guided tour around these hallowed grounds to take your seat on the reserve bench, view the club’s trophies in its museum, and soak up the unparalleled atmosphere of the player tunnel itself. The National Football Museum to the north of the centre is another must-see for fans of the beautiful game, with free entry and exhibits including a replica of the sought-after Jules Rimet trophy, used for years as the World Cup trophy, and a jersey of Maradona’s from 1986.
If you prefer art to football, you’ll find what you’re looking for at Manchester Art Gallery on Mosley Street not far from our Design Hotel. It houses a significant collection of European art, focussing on works by UK artists.
The centre’s Northern Quarter right by the Motel One Manchester-Piccadilly is well worth a visit, home to trendy designer boutiques, pubs, clubs and jazz venues. It’s emblematic of the modern city, and attracts bands and fans from around the world. A warm Northern welcome awaits in Manchester.
