I think this is a very nice hotel. This is my third time staying here, which probably says a lot in itself. I really like the location and the overall standard of the rooms. The breakfast is good, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. The only thing I miss is having a one more chair or a small table in the room, as it would make the stay even more comfortable.
Clean, comfortable, fantastic location, friendly & helpful staff
Great stay. Staff were great. Would recommend. Special mention to Lauren. Very helpful.
A really lovely hotel, in a great location just a few metres from the Spittelmarkt U2 station, with a well-maintained building and pleasant vintage-style décor. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful, the rooms are very quiet, and the breakfast is good. I’ll definitely be back.
Great room with view, very helpful staff at front desk (my room was not ready, chick-in in the morning), great location near Kurfuerstendamm
I was attracted to the funky look on your advertising, but then I was very disappointed with the lack of ambience in the room and the very bareness of the little balcony. The room is miniature. I also was displeased with the darkness of the corridor leading to the elevators.
Motel One at Alexander Platz is most conveniently located in one of the busiest parts of Central Berlin in proximity to a major node of public transport, major cultural venues and shopping facilities. Friendly service, a clean and quiet room as well as a comfortable lounge make the stay very enjoyable.
Perfect price / performance
Hi - the stay itself was very pleasant and it was useful to use the luggage room. A couple of things would help a lot - a kettle in the room with a couple of mugs for a morning coffee or tea. The side tables are too small and there are no direct USB connectors. Also the Beone app is very difficult to use. It alos asks you to provide in app feeedback but that does not take you there. The booking is hard to find and it is not possible to easily view and manage the booking. I will not use the hotel next time I visit Berlin because of these two things - there is no extra benefit for the higher charge compared to similar hotels
I’ve been staying at this motel one for many years (20+), it’s friendly and comfortable. Only a couple of comments, it could do with an upgrade particularly the breakfast space (largely dark and unfriendly feeling) and the lifts ( creak an awful lot). It would also be great if the street was developed, it’s not an advert. And I will continue to come
I have lived with Motel-One on multiple occasions. Both Private and Business, and I have further recommended highly to all my colleagues in our organization. However living in Motel One Berlin-Hackescher Markt did no where near living up to that. Rooms was fine and all that. But being woken up Saturday morning "hotel manager"? at 06:10 am, whom is screaming, and really pressing to get in, to where, I obviously react, as she is waking us up and threatening to come in if we don't open as she was facing a so called "emergency"..? Guys, I was fucking sleeping, sorry my French, so why on earth is she threatening that she will just go in? Woman you are waking us up at 06:10 what the f are you expecting? OK, I open the door to a horrible attiude and she just goes in and says there is an issue with water, she touches the floor once, and open the bathroom and she says, oh well all good here??? So I tell her, next time you wake someone up at this hour with this attitude, just think about how you are saying things, and how you are communicating, all is good, but we wont accept this attitude coming from someone who needed us? This really stuck with us the rest of the stay, as 2 hours later the cleaning lady knocked once before opening the door? Sunday she just opened the door without knocking. There was a massive lack of how to behave when you are in the industry of service. No smiles, which is the most free bonus point, not once were we greeted with smiles from any workers, besides the very capable bartender we was served by Saturday early evening.
As always: lovely room, of course on the small side. Great experience in lounge also. Keep it up.
Total happy.
Great lobby and bar area (inside and outside). Room was totally fine only there was no way of cooling it (e.g. with air con or a fan), so it was too hot. Lilith on Reception was lovely and a real asset to the hotel.
It was generally a pleasant stay but unfortunately the otherwise mostly good experience was ruined at check-out. I checked out on May 7th just after 6:30am, asking the receptionist for a printed copy of the bill. To make sure, I had already asked at check-in if I could have a printed copy when I check out an they confirmed this. However, the receptionist at check-out claimed that it was technically not possible -- and worse, he was extremely unfriendly and clearly not service-minded. I asked him if they didn't have a printer that was working but he said it had nothing to do with the printer -- bills could only be sent via email. Clearly, this was a blatant lie because when I picked up my suitcase around 6pm, the receptionist who was now on duty had absolutely no problems printing a copy of the bill for me. Not a good customer experience. Other than that, I found it odd that when asking for an iron on the first day, the receptionist said they only had one iron and that I therefore had to bring this and the ironing board back myself as soon as I had finished. I've never ever stayed at a hotel where I've been asked to carry the ironing board and iron back to the reception myself. My colleagues were laughing and shaking their heads when I told them the story. I also noticed that outside the room opposite of mine, an iron had been placed outside the door -- where it remained for at least two days without anyone from the staff collecting it. Finally, the highlight of my stay: My watch had gone missing and I did not know where (I searched high and low) but apparently room service had found it -- they placed it neatly on the bedside table which I was very grateful for (I left a well-deserved EUR 20 note in the room as finder's fee).
Very few gluten free options, very tiny rooms with uncomfortable beds. Room was very hot. If you opened the heavy curtains to cool off, yiou had bright lights and horribly loud sirens and trains all night.
The Hotel was nice, but the area close by a bit dodgy. We felt unsafe and the hotel did not turn on the lighting outside which strengthened the sense of unease.
Great stay. Only issue I had was that’s the mattress was a little too hard for me. But that’s just personal preference.
The room was dusty, there was no iron in the room, and there was only two towels
It was very hot in the room. Aircon was not working. Was told, it's still in Winter operations; meaning, only heating, no aircon.
it seems like we could not turn the heat if the system (in spring time) is already on ac mode. which turned out ok, but ideally we would have been able to control the temperature better. also, there are not enough people working during check in time. it would be nice if there was a short cut for people who already did the self check in ..
Hotel is listed as having airconditioning, but according to staff only in summer months. Room temperature was 30oC, with no possibility to open window, due to Traffic!
Superb location. Check-in took some time with many guests queuing. Would love to have had to opportunity to choose a high or low floor. Breakfast area is fantastic, with the possibility to eat outdoor. Suggest to put a fresh bottle of water every day in the room if guests are staying multiple nights. Overall nice experience. Recommended.
The room was really hot and no AC.
Hotel lost my reservation. Could first find it after a long time I got a room far from the lift across some train tracks. On the floor to the room I did see broken glass and a fork. The glass was gone after 2 hours, the fork the next morning Dont know if it was a new team. My previous experiences i didn't have any problems
From arrival to departure I greatly enjoyed my stay at Motel One, as I have at other Motel One hotels throughout Europe. Cleanliness and service are of a very high standard and with always a friendly welcome. Motel One is the hotel of first resort for me.
Staff are a little abrupt both in reception and bar area. I was also given someone else’s luggage when collecting it after check out which could have had major impact if not realized at time. Balcony is a little misleading in room description given first floor and the set up means zero privacy as people walking past your windows.
Nice rooms (only drawback carpet), breakfast room - not enigh convenient tables, col bar and great location
Easy check in and check out. Three elevators! Clean efficient room with enough shelving space. Bus and Subway nearby. Lack of power outlet near the desk and the thin curtain that lets light through can be improved but otherwise, good hotel. Oh, and the hot water changes temperature sporadically. That may need to be fixed.
Mostly OK. AC was not working in the room and the cleaning service left my door open on Saturday after cleaning. Only realized when coming in at night.
Very clean, new, close to the main station Great breakfast with a lot of Bio products.
Very helpful front desk staff, friendly and welcoming. Provided advice on local eateries, and best transport routes. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
Super Service!
Seamless, above and beyond service by front desk and especially Osman. Love the balcony rooms. Would be nice to have a small fridge though. Overall excellent stay in a nice, modern hotel.
I can 100% recommend Motel One Berlin-Alexanderplatz.
🤩 🤩
Toller Service.
Super
Fight for a place during the breakfast, bill should be send by mail .. never arrived. Rooms are not fresh any more e- old style
A great place in a good spot, not far from the Hauptbahnhof, and in a nice neighborhood, not far from restaurants. And the best thing is, you can rent a bike!
It was the first time I stayed in a hotel that dident provide shampoo in the bathroom.
As usual, easy check in and check out. Everything clean and well-designed. Nice detail: The two different kinds of pillows, one hard, one soft. Well done! It's those seemingly little things that make the difference
Great hotel with very friendly staff! Always eager to help! Very clean and sanitary. The cleaning staff was always respectful of our belongings. The breakfast was very diverse with a lot of options, cereal, yogurt and all sorts of pastries and fruits, although 17.90 EUR per person were a bit of too much to pay for it. The place is in very short distance from the Ubahn and SBahn station, the tram and the bus station. It's my second time staying at the specific hotel. I'm definitely staying there next time.
Cosy, comfortable and in good location.
Location is excellent, rooms are small but functional. The Berlin one was not as welcoming as the Hamburg nor Liverpool MotelOne - the staff on reception were more off hand, the single bottle of water for 4 nights seemed penny pinching, and there are no liners in bins, loo roll is only replaced when it is gone, not low, and cleanliness was OK but the loo was stained. The third lift was out of action the whole week with no indication of works or apology for inconvenience. This meant long waits from high floors to get down to ground. The breakfast space was too limited for the most predictably popular hours so finding a seat was tricky. Nice vibe to the decor in the bar/lounge, but overall pretty pricey for a charmless stay.
I stay here regularly as it has the best location of all the Motel Ones in Berlin and is not next to a railway line. The rooms at the back are generally quiet, although in the first room I had (501?) I was woken by a loud noise at 5 am which sounded intermittently all morning. At first I assumed it was from a building site outside, but on checking, I found that the door next to my room was marked AV/EV and might be some kind of boiler room which was noisy. I changed to room 545 at the opposite end of the hotel, which was blissfully quiet.
Lovely stay - comfortable, albeit very simple room - with nice views in the one I had. Everyone was friendly, and nice bars and feel. An excellent place.
Usually I am very happy with Motel One, and I especially like the one close to Berlin’s main station, as it is very convenient to be so close to public transport. Only this time my room was terribly loud, looking out to the main road. It was impossible to sleep with the window open (which I need to). There was a heck of a noise from sirens, cars, people shouting, loudspeaker announcements from the main station - all night through! It kept me waking up by the hour. When I had explicitly asked for a quiet room towards the park at check in, I was told the room would be fine. Also I had to ask for an invoice several times before I got an incorrect one listing costs for breakfasts I hadn’t booked and didn’t have. Not what I am used to at Motel One. I will come back though as it is still my favourite hotel when I need to stay in Berlin.
2 days on business trip
The property was clean and we had a great view of the city on the 11th floor. The staff were able to check us in early which was greatly appreciated after travelling for 8hrs!
Switch on. beOne.

Budget design hotels in Berlin – your Motel One
Years of separation into East and West gave the German capital a unique character. Today, it is a young and creative metropolis bustling with events, a dynamic start-up culture and an international art scene. Of course, it is also the home of two football clubs – Hertha and Union –, delicious döner kebab and currywurst, and the notoriously direct Berlin dialect.
- the Reichstag building near the new central station
- the Museum Island
- the “City West” with its Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, Kurfürstendamm avenue and the KaDeWe department store
- the remnants of the Berlin Wall, e.g. at Checkpoint Charlie
- the Alexanderplatz square with its soaring TV tower
- and, last but not least, the famous Brandenburg Gate
You’ll need more than one night to take in all these highlights. And the list is far from exhaustive. There's also the Bellevue Palace, Potsdamer Platz, the Berlin Philharmonic, Nikolaiviertel, Hackesche Höfe, East Side Gallery and countless museums. Each of our design hotels is situated right around the corner from something exciting.
On top of all its cultural highlights, Berlin is surprisingly green and full of attractive parks such as the Tiergarten – perfect for an outdoor breakfast. For a slightly different green space, head to Tempelhofer Feld: the former airport now a huge public park right in the city centre. The old runways are playgrounds to wind sport enthusiasts such as street kiters, while the grassland in between is a protected biotope. Typically Berlin!
The different districts of the city all have their own, distinct character: from the elegance of the old west in Charlottenburg to modern art and design in trendy Berlin-Mitte, from the lively alternative scenes of Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain to the multicultural ambiance of Neukölln. Each area is a city in its own right. A leisurely walk through the streets of the capital will take you past historical architecture, original street art and many other influences.
Book a room in one of our design hotels and start exploring Berlin, one of our favourite parts of the world.
