Great value for money. Basic but clean. Very comfy bed and pillows.
Although the stay in Newcastle was for only one night, we had no complaints ans staff were vert friendly and helpful
clean, central and a good specification
Really nice place to stay and well situated. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely stay again.
Staff were great, location is convenient. Breakfast was OK but not impressive, mattress was way too soft. Would have liked a proper drinking glass in the room. Also I hate the three-quarters shower wall - water inevitably all over the floor.
The staff were lovely and friendly. Check in was very easy. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. There was plenty of space.
The breakfast could be better
Very good central hotel with quiet comfy rooms
Lovely hotel right in the centre of Newcastle. Clean room with everything we needed. Very friendly reception staff
Great hotel in the perfect spot
Staff were amazing, as ever! The setting is beautiful. Only issue and reason not a 10 for room and value was that the air con was like having a hairdryer on all night. It was awful! Never been an issue before
Good location and everything was fine until the bathroom nearly flooded. Could not shower.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly upon check in and the made it a smooth service. We were slightly disappointed to find our double bed was 2 single beds joined together and the air con in the bedroom was quite poor. Overall I would recommend anyone staying here as it was incredible value for money.
Clean, and new, aircon a bit noisy and bed a little soft but room / breakfast nice
For the 3 days the tv only function was BBC 1 and radio front of house tried to reset was very helpful SAI he had spent much of his day resetting systems was unable to fix entered into maintaance book but was not attended to by that department .
Welcoming, friendly and helpful staff on arrival and throughout my stay. Room was very clean, quiet and comfortable and despite being the most basic room was the perfect size for my needs. Really appreciate a late check out and left luggage option. The shower was poor - lukewarm water at its highest setting and poor pressure. Better provision of refreshments and information such as bar menu in the room etc would have been good. The cups provided for tea and coffee were pretty unpleasant - regular glasses and mugs please! I also borrowed an iron from reception which failed to iron my clothes effectively. Slightly problematic when on a business trip!
I always try to stay at Motel One because the staff a welcoming , friendly and helpful. The rooms are of a consistent high standard and the beds very comfortable.
Great location and check in. Very comfortable room. I'll start here again.
Great price. Great room. Brilliant location.
Really like staying here, it’s my go to hotel when I’m in the Toon for the football. Staff are really friendly and professional. The hotel is clean and modern. The location in the centre of Newcastle is superb. I only have one little complaint. The cost can be prohibitive, it can more than quadruple. I’m not sure if it’s called surge pricing or dynamic pricing.
Lovely hotel, old building but modern interior. Rooms decent but quite small. Bed very comfy and had a brilliant sleep. Staff were friendly and helpful. On check in, however, the hotel was having technical difficulties and it meant I had to wait in the lounge and couldn’t check in till nearer 4pm. This had an impact on other plans I had.
The manager on ground was very rude
Arrived 2.45 told 15 minute wait to check in, sat down then very busy queue for the then the check in system didn’t work so another 15/20 minute wait to be told to call back.. so couldn’t check in straight away had to go and come back aswel as a lengthy wait quite annoying as it was a day out and Booked for my boyfriends 30th birthday. Rooms small and basic great bed , very few tv channels
The staff were welcoming and helpful The room was clean and tidy There was a relaxed and friendly atmosphere
Comfortable, clean room and very quiet. Would have been better with a bedside table. The light switch above the bed was a bit awkward to reach. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast, beautifully presented. Located very close to all the sights. .
We love staying with Motel One in Newcastle but on this occasion felt a bit disappointed. Presumably due to a football match the room was notably more expensive than we have paid in the past and the room we had was significantly less good than we’ve had in the past. Otherwise all good.
Friendly helpful staff. High standard of cleanliness Comfortable
Hotel staff reception, bar and breakfast were all great, friendly helpful and just really nice. The bed and bedding was all very comfortable, the shower, gel and shampoo were all very nice. I dont like that the room ( 640 ) doesnt have individual air conditioning - i had to leave the window open my whole stay as the room was stuffy and it was very noisey outside late into the night. Had there been individual air conditioning to each room, the window could have been closed for a more peaceful night. The " air system " in the rooms in this hotel puts me off staying here again. The sink in the bathroom drained very slowly - the plumbing needs attention. i had booked breakfast and the selection was nice, however in other Motel One I have stayed at, there was a choice of hard or soft boiled eggs, here in Newcastle there was only very soft runny and under-cooked boiled eggs - This was disappointing as it was the only hot element of the breakfast offering. The hotel entrance was not easily seen from the street - i almost walked past it coming from the direction of the train station.
Excellent city centre hotel with nice bar area & outside space ! Would highly recommend! Downside for hubby….. No draft beer!
Motel One is modern and well located in the middle of Newcastle. The room was comfortable and well sound proofed. That said, there are several aspects that could be improved. The room was too hot, especially for the heavy duvet that came with the bed. Breakfast was limited; for instance, boiled eggs were available, but not scrambled or fried. Surely it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to offer those too. No late check out was possible. The overall value for money was poor, at almost £170 per night. Staff was lovely, friendly and helpful, that was the best thing about our stay.
- No optional bed - TV channels are very limited - Fire alarm/ system - Non-friendly solution offer - No fridge or safe-box in the room.
Could do with more storage space and a bin in the room area. Electric points both side of the bed. Very comfortable bed. Heating didn't work room was cold
Check in was quick and early as we arrived at 2 pm Everything regarding breakfast and facilities was explained well. We found the TV difficult to use as not every channel is available and the carpet was a not the cleanest in the room but otherwise fine until the next morning when the shower only ran cold water ( we were in 637 ) we mentioned it at the desk on checking out but the lady seemed to think that we weren’t using it properly although I had tried all the different settings on the shower in an attempt to get warm water. All in all slightly disappointing. On a positive the breakfast was great and apart from one reveller we managed to get a good sleep
Lovely hotel, great situation. Breakfast was delicious. Hotel bar and public areas are beautiful. Staff are all lovely. Comfiest bed I think I’ve ever slept in! The only issue is that the rooms are quite small and there’s nowhere at the side of the bed to put a coffee 🙃
The price for what you get, an absolute bargain
This was our third stay at Motel One. As usual everything was perfect. I must pay particular praise to Jordan at reception who was so helpful and approachable during our entire stay.
The room we were in overlooked a back yard. All through the early hours local bars were emptying bottle bins into large industrial bins, making a lot of noise and waking us up. Then at 5am and again at 8am biffa waste wagons turned up and emptied the large bins. Once again making a lot of noise and waking us up. So we did not sleep well at all. We mentioned this to the at receptionist as we checked out and they were apologetic but said that’s the down side to city centre hotels
Spot on. Central, friendly, efficient and a really cool bar/foyer area.
A lovely hotel with very welcoming staff in a great location
Everything you need, great service. Clean and friendly.
I had a comfortable stay during my one night in Motel One. It is centrally located and the room was comfortable. The breakfast was lovely with very helpful staff. I liked the stylish seating and spaces around the bar areas looking out onto the street view. It made it possible for me to meet my guests there very welcoming. I would recommend Motel One.
Good service, great staff and nice environment. A bit disappointing that the room was cold as heating did not come up until 11pm
TV doesn’t work in room 132, remote and button on the front don’t do anything. Also the extractor fan doesn’t work, it’s like having a shower in a cloud.
Great hotel. Great location, lovely rooms, helpful staff
Motel One feels like a home from home. Lovely and welcoming staff!
Fantastic place to stay in the city centre. The best staff, so helpful and considerate.
Simply, the best place to stay in Newcastle
Staff on reception were helpful and friendly
This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel as I come down to Newcastle quite regularly with work. It is a great hotel in a great location
Room was clean and lobby was spotless. The television did not work would not allow me to watch any television. The thermostat in the room constantly buzzed all night The bathroom was nice. The rooms appliances such as light switches was dated There was a distinct lack of light in the room

Location and surroundings
Hotel Newcastle
Our centrally-located Motel One Newcastle is warmed by the charm of raw brickwork, in the form of a genuine brick façade with an industrial style harking back to the history of this working-class city. The interior design takes as its motif the bridges over the Tyne, and the stylish faux-industrial bar pays homage to the achievements of Robert Stephenson, who designed the Rocket steam locomotive. Real leather furniture by Baxter and fine rugs by Jan Kath complement the look. Elegant details such as chairs by Arketipo with distinctive steel frames, and mirrored shelving stocked with carafes of whisky add touches of charm.
And of course, it is no accident that the striped wallpaper at reception is in Newcastle United colours. Even the location in the city’s historic centre suits the industrial-modern style of our affordable Design Hotel. Sights such as the Theatre Royal, Grey’s Monument and Newcastle Town Hall are close at hand, the hotel is handy for the central station, and the airport is easily accessible.
Book your room in our Design Hotel and experience the rich contrasts between “old” industrial and “new” modern design.
