Such an easy place to stay. A good choice for breakfast and everything necessary for the room. Hot showers and lovely shower gel. Hugely helpful and welcoming stuff. Good bar for after work. Always happy to return to Motel 1.
Very easy check-in. Pleasant and helpful member of staff. Room good but one bedside light not working. Great breakfast - lots of fruit and good yoghurt. Plenty of space, plates, cutlery etc. Will stay again.
Top Quality! Location was superb and the hotel was excellent - highly recommend
We have stayed here lots of times and it never disappoints great hotel and great location
A mistake had been made in our booking and this fortunately was sorted out most efficiently by Evan. I made the booking on the phone as the website wasn’t responding and the booking was made for February not March. However all was sorted for us.
I have given an 8 this time as the lifts were not working on one night of our stay. I also felt that the housekeeping was not as good. This was not due to the staff but more to do with resources. Shower/Body was and hand wash only half full along with the box of tissues. It could be due to the hospitality industry as a whole but I noticed a change.
Not my choice, my employer has a corporate rate. Big bed, small room, nice shower, average breakfast, poor tea, OK coffee with breakfast. (I'm a fan of a cooked breakfast, you do not do one and my employer has a B&B rate, so I cannot go elsewhere).
Great location. Lovely, friendly reception and bar staff
Love this hotel. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout. Our go to hotel in Newcastle.
Clean, modern and good location. Air conditioning in the room didn't work.
Clean, modern, lovely and friendly staff and tasty & generous breakfast
Lovely hotel, friendly staff. Breakfast was lovely but could do with a bit more variety ie cereals, everything else had good variety. The only issues we had was the room was really warm, Could do with a fan or updating air con.
There had been a fire alarm earlier in the evening so all lifts were not working (but this was hours later). The room I was given was extremely noisy - reception were great and did move me rooms but in the new one the window was broken and wouldn't lock closed - I couldn't face going back down to reception to move again. There are stains on the walls / ceilings / carpets, it's quite dingy and I don't think I would stay here again.
Stayed multiple times and this was the worst. Started off really well, check in was breeze and great chat with the staff there. Then it was downhill. Got back to hotel, no lifts at all. which you can't help when things got wrong, Im on the 5th floor. then found out I was on the wrong side and couldn't access my room so back down again. Front desk staff just talking not checking where anyone needed to be when people were coming in to the hotel to save them the same issues I had, so pretty poor there. Room was fine accept air con. it was uncomfortably hot even opening windows made little difference, and made for a restless sleep. I know you can do better.
Room was over service bay (floor 1) and bathroom smelled of cigarette smoke (assume form ventilation). Stayed multiple times before and this is first time I've had this issue.
Friendly staff and great location. Only downfall is that the carpets in the rooms are very gruby and need a good cleaning or replaced.
Perfect. Comfortable, clean and great value. Lovely staff and great location
Lovely hotel and pleasant staff although we did not have much cause to interact with them after checking in
The hotel room was too hot at night so I couldn’t sleep, there was no air con but the communal areas downstairs and the bar/lounge area was great x
Quick & easy check in procedure. Friendly & helpful staff. No complaints from me.
Excellent location. Room a bit small, but good bathroom and comfortable bed.
Usually spot on However this time 1st room window stuck open and an alarm sounding outside. 2nd room next door same alarm. 3rd room tiny with small high up window and heating stuck on hot. Evening Out was excellent and a few drinks eased the room issues. Will be back to try again in April..
Nice room, great staff, central location
Easy check-in, friendly staff, felt luxurious on entering, room was basic but had everything we needed - it was clean, the bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. I'd absolutely stay again and recommend to others.
I loved my stay at Motel One Newcastle as it’s in a great central location and the hotel itself is very clean and well presented. However, on the morning of my stay I used the hairdryer provided in the room and it burnt part of my fringe off. I spoke to the lady on reception straight away and she asked me to email photos of the damage, which I did. She also said that a manager would call me later that day, but unfortunately I never received any follow-up. I’m quite disappointed with the lack of response, especially after being told I would hear back the same day. I understand that accidents can happen, but I would have expected better communication and for the issue to be taken more seriously.
Great location, excellent price (midweek stay). All staff very helpful and friendly
Lovely reception area, friendly staff and really quiet location.
The environment was serene and quiet. Thank you for maintaining it guest are able to relax. Staff are very supportive and helpful
The kindest, most friendly and generous staff. They wanted to help every way they could and it stood out to us just how good the service was. Rooms were also clean and nice.
Always a go-to hotel and preferred place to stay in Newcastle when visiting. Love the vibe, ambiance and cozy feel of Motel One and the staff are always so welcoming and friendly. Recently (last couple of stays) noted though that some standards are slipping. Rooms are clean, but the bathroom cleanliness can be less than desired on occasion. Recently blocked sinks, toilets that flush and splash water out of the WC pan and grime on shower tile grouting are a few observations made. The rooms feel like they could do with a refresh and maybe some tidying up and running repairs where needed. The breakfast is expensive for what you get, some better vegan or vegetarian options would be welcome and possibly gluten free options for those that desire it would be a good idea.
Lovely hotel in great location. The lounge/bar area is very nice. Then the rooms are comfortable but slightly on the smaller side. Would stay again and recommend.
Wonderful stay in the centre of Newcastle. Excellent reception, all staff warm and professional. Room, small, but very well designed and didn't feel cramped. The well thought out choice of pillows made a difference!
Great location. Value for money
Great hotel, fab facilities. Could benefit from better glazed windows to keep noise down at night.
Another great stay - thanks. Just to let you know the toilet seat in room 1-37 needs a bit of attention. Regards, Gareth
Great stay as always, staff really welcoming - just not sure why the beds are made with the quilt only reaching two thirds of the bad, have to untuck the whole thing every time.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel clean Room check out 12 noon was great. Everything. Great would recommend hotel very close to Xmas market and station.
In the politest way, the rooms were filthy, stains everywhere, the floor, the bedding, desk, chairs- just everywhere, we were kindly offered to switch rooms, which we did, but sadly that was just worse. the only good thing was the breakfast, it’s a shame the rest of the hotel is not like the reception/ dining area. Staff were friendly and helpful.
I needed a reasonably priced hotel for an overnight stay. Reviews were very good and cost was reasonable. Online check in was a breeze. I picked up the room card from reception very quickly. Price included a freebottle of water, tea/coffe facilites in the room (which was immaculate). No complaints or issues, would highly recommend.
Terrible check-in, terrible bed
Not much to say really, easy to get to room pretty good view from top floor easy access, friendly staff
Very friendly staff helpful kind staff had the best experience and stayed its right next to the everything two there is just one thing I would change is the room was very hot and the air corn was not working well and other light fixtures in the bathroom would go on and off
I stayed here whilst away with work. It was so very much nicer than my usual travel lodge type of place. Really nice room, lovely staff, great bar and 12.00 check out. What’s not to like!!
Great hotel, lovely surroundings and atmosphere. Staff were absolutely amazing professional, helpful and friendly. Room nice also clean. Great location will definitely stay again 😀
I love Motel One. Stylish. Comfortable. Warm. Friendly. All round fabulous hotel.
Always lovely staying here Great staff. Super easy check in and out Night reception are on pint and pleasant. Location is perfect also
Lovely Stay at Motel One, Newcastle. Great location. Nice rooms, clean and quiet. Good value.
Motel One Newcastle is right in the centre of town and a perfect location for any stay. I have used it many times and always had excellent service. I asked for a quiet room and was placed sixth floor on the back of the building and I believe the staff thought here was quiet but the road at the back was noisy emptying bins a clanking metal plate cars drive over. It wasn’t quiet sadly The only other complaint I have is the awful pillows just too soft and no support
Great location very friendly staff
I have stayed several times at this hotel whenever I visit Newcastle i always try to stay here its in the perfect location lovely clean and modern, the staff are always friendly polite and accommodating, especially the the gentleman who works on the bar in the evening
Switch on. beOne.

Newcastle
The gateway to Scotland
Newcastle upon Tyne, the northernmost UK city south of the border, is frequently referred to as the gateway to Scotland, but in fact has much more to offer. Our centrally-located Design Hotel makes a perfect base from which to explore the city’s fascinating history and the multifaceted contrasts between “coal and culture” that it represents. Sleep in cosy box-spring beds, start your day with a healthy, organic breakfast, and relax amongst designer furniture in our One Lounge.
Newcastle has a rich history, represented by its city walls dating back to the 13th century, the Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas, and the seven different bridges spanning the Tyne. Imposing buildings recall the former wealth of the coal industry, and the consequences of industrialisation. Today’s Newcastle is a lively city for art, architecture and night-life, and has impressively bridged the gap from the industrial to the post-industrial age. Welcome to “The Toon”!

“Sometimes I miss my River Tyne”
The Tyne river, frequently memorialised in song, is spanned by no fewer than seven bridges. Most interesting to tourists are perhaps the Tyne Bridge completed in the first half of the 20th century, the High Level Bridge and the comparatively recent Gateshead Millennium Bridge.
Art and culture aficionados are sure to enjoy a visit to the Laing Art Gallery, whose collection includes works by Gauguin, Turner and Holman Hunt. It is only a few minutes walk away from the hotel.
In the evenings, Newcastle turns into a major party destination, with a night-life ranked alongside that of London, Las Vegas and Rio de Janeiro. Trendy bars, music venues and clubs are filled with locals and attract thousands of tourists to the city.
