I am working up here and been coming to the hotel For over a year the reception staff are very very helpful
Clean, quiet, comfortable. Excellent central location. Staff lovely, helpful & friendly. Good reception spacious seating areas & bar.
The room was very hot despite using the air con. The bed seemed hot not sure if a plastic sheet was on the bedbase. Some dust on the light fittings above the bed. The TV sound was of very poor quality despite adjusting the volume. Got an email invitation to check in but the website was in German and despite changing language and even logging onto your website this proved too difficult to complete.
I was allowed to check in early which was a bonus. Lizzie on the reception friendly an efficient. For my second stay i had room 520. All good wiyhe great aircon. The thing that makes the hotel for me is the outside seating area. Breakfast again brilliant with a very wide choice.
Hotel was clean, well kept and in a good location. Motel one was good value for money and all staff encountered were friendly. The room was unbearably hot. The air conditioner did nothing to cool the room down. The window couldn’t not open any further than an inch or so. The reception staff did provided us with a fan but I would say this affected our stay quite a bit.
Pleasantly surprised. Lovely hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. Everywhere clean.
The hotel and breakfast were amazing. Our only gripe was the memory foam mattress that had sunk and wasn't supportive
Didnt book breakfast but asked if I could pay for one. Was refused. There was ample amount of food out.
Great staff, great bar, great location
Excellent hotel in ideal location. Close to everything but in a quiet enough street to escape it all too. Reception, dining and bar staff all excellent, I should have paid more attention to names. Friendly, professional and mix an excellent cocktail. Modern well maintained, showers clean and simple.
Stayed here a few times and always find the staff, extremely pleasant and professional. Rooms are always spotlessly clean and the location and price are superb. My only negative is that we always seem to get a room that looks out onto rubbish skips and rat poison boxes in alleyways. Curtains are easily pulled but all in all a great hotel despite that
There isn't enough milk in the room, each cup of tea or coffee needs 2 sachets and these weren't replenished during my stay. I do appreciate that you provide decaff though as many hotels don't. The pillows are a bit strange, they were almost like full sized pillows that had lost their shape and so had been folded over into a square, as had the pillow cases, which had been tucked in. I found them quite uncomfortable to sleep on.
No hassle, nice clean room and helful staff
Our room (4.00) was basically like a sauna. The large double windows basically worked like a greenhouse and the glass got so hot it was heating the room up, and the air conditioning placement was less than useless, being incredibly low power and also pointing at the wall and not into the room itself. The only way you could even tell it was on (even at full power, lowest temp) was by sticing your hand directly in front of it. It was basically impossible to sleep and opening the windows was also not an option.
Great location. Delightful reception staff. Compact but very clean and well appointed room. Bathroom very nice indeed. A window that actually opened. Would have loved a biscuit with the tea but appreciated the decaff options for drinks. Would absolutely stay again.
Well presented, great location, but Aircon insufficient (room stayed around 24 degrees even on full blast), sheets rough and uncomfortable.
horrible hotel, inflexible staff and conditions were very low standard.
The hotel was clean, welcoming and the staff were very friendly.
Carpet really old smelly and dirty. Baseboards really dirty in hallways.
Good hotel with nice rooms, good bathrooms and public areas. Breakfast is a bit of a crush on weekdays for business travellers - a severe shortage of tables at busy timed. Also the entrance lobby needs better lighting as it is very dark, partially sighted guests would find it difficult to navigate
Worst views Ive ever had in a hotel. There was a dumpster and there was a lot of noise at dawn
I had a great stay. Lizzie was very welcoming at the check-in and made sure I had everything I needed.
Very nice breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, convenient location - would recommend!
Lissy at the desk was very helpfull to make is feel @home and giving advice were to go
clean and relaxing
Everything excellent, from booking to checkout. Super staff, lovely clean room, fab breakfast.
Felt very upset by being challenged upon return to the hotel and asked to sign in again, despite filling in all forms correctly at the outset. Felt staff were overbearing and intended to intimidate. Very uncomfortable system in place, disrespectful to customers
The hotel was perfectly placed (central), the staff were lovely, and everything was very clean and tidy. The sweeties on the Reception desk were a particularly nice touch.
Excellent stay, staff friendly room nice and clean. Great location.
Bartenders were great but the bar was empty most of the time. They need their own door so random people could find it. Air-conditioning was poor and our room was very hot and the A/C didn't cool it down. Had to open the windows but it's very noisy outside towards High Bridge street. Lots of arguments and shouting from drunken people, sirens from police all night to early morning time. I felt like i was in a room on top of a night club in Benidorm.
Great location, comfortable rooms, good showers, all you need!
A really clean hotel in all areas - reception / bar area / toilets / room. The staff were very welcoming. It was quiet but had a nice atmosphere.
Friendly staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. Excellent value for money
Location of hotel very good.
I enjoyed my stay and would recommend the hotel. The nightly rate paid, and the drink and snack prices represent good value for money. The room was clean and spacious, had everything I needed, and the bed was very comfortable. The only negatives were noise from the street - understandable, as it is a city centre location, but the rooms need better double glazing. Also, the temperature in the room was not ideal. It was extremely hot, even with the air conditioner at full blast.
Clean. Excellent service. The bar was good a nice place to relax.
We stayed at Motel One as part of my partner's 30th birthday celebrations and the team went above and beyond to make it special - The attention to detail was second to none, every member of the team was friendly and warm and we had the best, most comfortable sleep of our lives!
We had a wonderful stay as always, the staff were fantastic, so friendly and helpful. I love staying at this hotel, its my favourite.
Central hotel, nice, clean room. Hotel is close to O2 Academy and the town centre.
An excellent hotel. And the lovely Staffs at the Reception was able to secure a room for my early check-in at no extra cost. Many thanks to the Management. I look forward to my next visit. Xoxo
Enjoyed our stay would come again
Mixed The majority of the staff pleasant Room 80% clean Fire Alarm in middle of the night, false alarm, not a single member of staff advising guests &/or telling them safe to return My grandchild & myself in pyjamas outside in Newcastle with zero assistance
Good clean hotel. Minimalistic but what was there was good quality. Great staff. Wouldn’t hesitate to book here again.
Unfortunately for all the good points of the hotel, my stay was spoiled by the fact my door didn’t always correctly latch. It had to be shut quite forcibly for it to latch correctly. I did not know this however until a drunk stranger was climbing into my bed in the middle of the night. A very disturbing experience and while the receptionist was very apologetic when I was checking out, I’m not 100% sure she fully grasped the seriousness of the matter. If this happened to a woman who was staying on her own I would expect she would have been terrified. All other aspects of the hotel were good but room security is paramount hence the score of 1/10.
Great hotel and location, apart from being caught up in the middle of a stag do brawl in the doorway / entrance area (which scared my partner and her mother as it was quite distressing) we had a good stay and staff were polite and friendly… the start was a bit distressing to be honest but not really anyone’s fault who worked in the hotel
Second visit - lovely hotel. Room was large (we were put in an easy access room possibly because we had a dog) but bathroom wasn't great - slightly smelly. Great bar.
The location of the hotel, city centre, was very convenient and yet well sound proofed. The look of the hotel entrance, reception and restaurant was cool and contemporary. The bedroom and bathrooms were a decent size but rather spartan. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows too hard and high (pillow cases too small), so had to use the small velvet cushion as a pillow. Breakfast (continental) was very very good, although the gf bread not the best!
Excellent clean and tidy and great location
Clean, quiet and central, ticks all the boxes!
Amazing stay! Great value for money but this stay myself and my husband were quite disappointed as the room felt old. The bed was soft, the springs had gone and the pillows were awfully soft. We both had sore necks the next morning
Switch on. beOne.

Newcastle
The gateway to Scotland
Newcastle upon Tyne, the northernmost UK city south of the border, is frequently referred to as the gateway to Scotland, but in fact has much more to offer. Our centrally-located Design Hotel makes a perfect base from which to explore the city’s fascinating history and the multifaceted contrasts between “coal and culture” that it represents. Sleep in cosy box-spring beds, start your day with a healthy, organic breakfast, and relax amongst designer furniture in our One Lounge.
Newcastle has a rich history, represented by its city walls dating back to the 13th century, the Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas, and the seven different bridges spanning the Tyne. Imposing buildings recall the former wealth of the coal industry, and the consequences of industrialisation. Today’s Newcastle is a lively city for art, architecture and night-life, and has impressively bridged the gap from the industrial to the post-industrial age. Welcome to “The Toon”!

“Sometimes I miss my River Tyne”
The Tyne river, frequently memorialised in song, is spanned by no fewer than seven bridges. Most interesting to tourists are perhaps the Tyne Bridge completed in the first half of the 20th century, the High Level Bridge and the comparatively recent Gateshead Millennium Bridge.
Art and culture aficionados are sure to enjoy a visit to the Laing Art Gallery, whose collection includes works by Gauguin, Turner and Holman Hunt. It is only a few minutes walk away from the hotel.
In the evenings, Newcastle turns into a major party destination, with a night-life ranked alongside that of London, Las Vegas and Rio de Janeiro. Trendy bars, music venues and clubs are filled with locals and attract thousands of tourists to the city.
