Everyone was very pleasant and helpful. Did not like the cups in the bedroom - could they be china cups please. One of the best breakfasts Ive had.
Good value for money for one person staying one night
Hotel and staff were lovely however the air conditioning was not the best and we were extremely hot during the night
Staff are helpful and really friendly! Rooms nice and clean and bar and chill areas are lovely.
no problems courteous staff very helpful . motel very very clean thank you .
Everybody went above themselves to help.
The location of the hotel is excellent. The staff were extremely good. The room was adequate, but far too hot and the temperature system made no difference.
Really nice hotel right in centre we have used this one a number of times. Pleasant staff and good accommodation
Helpful reception staff. High standard of room fixtures and fittings
We have stayed at Motel One Newcastle many times over the years. It is a good base for town as it’s within easy walking distance of pretty much everywhere. The rooms are, like all Motel One hotels, functional but the bed was comfortable & the room was clean and tidy. The only downside was the flush on the toilet was very stiff and the water from the shower was very hot despite turning the temperature gauge down to zero! I was disappointed the European TV channels were not functioning. However, for what you pay for the stay it’s good value and it’s very likely I will book again in the future when I return to Newcastle.
A great place to stay and an ideal location Staff were so friendly. Room could have done with a bit of attention- dirty wall next to the bed and carpet stains but these are minor things as everything else was great. Bathroom good bed was comfy Bar downstairs was great
Lovely hotel in a great location. Very clean. Friendly helpful staff. Only downside was there’s no privacy in the rooms when the curtains are open, voile at the windows would be an idea as rooms opposite can see into the room. So had to close curtains/use lights when changing and getting ready to go out.
Excellent location, comfy room, friendly staff.
Really love room, staff were really helpful and friendly, great location and already booked to return again next month!
An excellent stay with friends. Extremely helpful and friendly staff.
Welcoming staff. Clean room. Comfortable bed. Good location. Excellent price
Excellent service, clean hotel room.
Great. Location super. Staff very welcoming.
I have been away with work and project for a while, and returning to Motel One this week felt like a home from home. As ever, the staff were friendly, and the hotel just as welcoming, clean, warm and comfortable as ever.
Booked last minute and could not fault this hotel, staff are extremely friendly and perfect central location with quiet rooms.
Lovely welcoming atmosphere, all staff where friendly and keen to help when needed. Room was clean, tidy and had everything we needed (we obly stopped 1 night) but could of easily stayed longer. Even woth it's location in the party part of Newcastle the room was very quite and nothing could be heard from outside
Very professional staff, excellent location, lovely room. Always try to get back if in town,
This is the third time we have stayed this year and the fact upgraded was disappointed with the room as it was a basic standard room which the air conditioning did not work so the room was very hot. Very disappointed as upgraded for this exact reason.
Great location staff were friendly and helpful will definitely stay again
Absolutely amazing hotel ! Friendliest reception upon arrival couldn't be more helpful and friendly then the bar staff were absolutely brilliant
The staff are all lovely and very helpful. We found a hair on the bed and we asked for our room to be cleaned and new towels and toilet roll etc on the second day and that didn’t happen. Overall nice stay. Carpets really need updated and or/cleaned. They are pretty Doty looking
A comfortable room in a lovely hotel friendly and accommodating staff.
Best location in Newcastle. Stayed here 3 times staff are professional & friendly hotel is lovely inside great bar area & outdoor seating area.
The room was very warm and air con did not seem to be blowing cool air. Room was small with no wardrobe or drawers. Okay for 1night but not ideal for a longer stay.
We recently stayed at Motel One Newcastle for one night while visiting the city to see a show, and it was a great experience overall. The location is fantastic—right in central Newcastle, making it really easy to find and perfect for getting around. Everything we needed was within walking distance, which made our short stay even more convenient. The hotel itself was clean, modern, and well-maintained. Our room was a good size, as was the bathroom, and everything felt comfortable and thoughtfully laid out. The room included all the amenities we needed for a short stay, although a fridge would have been a nice addition. One of the highlights was the bar area, which had a lovely atmosphere and very reasonable prices—ideal for a relaxed drink before or after heading out. The staff were also friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, which made a big difference. Overall, we had a really pleasant stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to others. We’d happily stay here again on our next visit to Newcastle.
Certain rooms need up dating , your air con in the hotel on put out heat even on lowest setting
Great experiance once again.
We stayed at Motel One for 3 nights. The room was small but was adequate for our needs. We arrived akte in the evening, check in was seamless. Upon entering the room the toilet was dirty but nothing flushing couldn't fix. We didnt avail of the breakfast but there were plenty of options
Everything was fabulous, but for the room temperature. It was far far too hot in our room even with the window open all day and night. There was no option for air-conditioning to help with the problem
Great value. Very convenient fot Theatre Royal.
I didn’t notice any fish items in the breakfast. Everything else exceptionally good.
Excellent location for my needs. Excellent midweek prices. Fabulous staff. Good rooms with comfortable beds.
Very well designed and comfortable rooms with very helpful and friendly staff. The hotel was calm and relaxing and excellent value for money .
Clean, good location, great price and the staff was lovely. Liked the free WiFi. Thanks a lot.
Our room 542 was far too hot, even on the lowest setting, window open, door wedged open. My young son became ill, overheated, reported to reception. Staff were wonderful and took care of us both. I would have rated higher otherwise. I would still recommend this hotel, gorgeous lounge / bar area but don’t stay on the 5th or 6th floor. Great staff and location. Upgrade of vacuum cleaners required, lots of hair stuck to bedroom carpet.
Always a brilliant stay.
The rooms are clean & comfortable & the staff are very polite & friendly. Very good value for money.
The hotel was very nice. However, the room temperature was too warm so I opened the window. Also, the pillows were too deep so I squashed them into a more elongated shape.
Lovely hotel
Got a very warm welcome at reception. Room was lovely - such a comfortable bed. Was pleased the room was not too hot. Approved of all the sustainability actions being taken and really enjoyed the breakfast. The organic muesli was great, and the bread was delicious. Big shout out to Ming on reception who was so welcoming, and even lent me an umbrella, when I had to go out in a downpour.
Very nice hotel with friendly staff. Breakfast was good and I like the 1200 check out time.
Lovely quiet room. Excellent location and tasty breakfast.
We stayed in a superior room. The rooms pillows were square like sofa cushions, extremely uncomfortable and my partner had a sore neck from them. Our room was right by the bars on the front so noise was a problem till the early hours so we didnt get much sleep. No lock on the bathroom door either. I did message the hotel and said we were staying for my partners birthday and they wrote out a card and put some sweets out on the bed which was really nice and appreciated. David on the bar was great! The hotel was very clean! We would return if pillows were different.
Reception staff very friendly and helpful changed our remote control as this wasn’t working. bed was clean and comfortable but the carpet was full of stains and hadn’t been hoovered in a while there was paper and silver foil off tablets around the bed. Walls in the bathroom dirty . We had a quiet room overlooking the carpark and for this I was grateful. Bar was well stocked . We didn’t pay for breakfast as thought it was a bit pricey for a continental breakfast . Would stay again as a great location for the city centre and the railway station
Hotel staff friendly and reception area nice. Our room was extremely hot and we couldn’t get it to cool down so unfortunately we had a terrible sleep due to this. There was also a strong smell of urine in the toilet and didn’t feel the room was very clean. Hand prints on head board and hand marks all over inside of toilet door and also hairs on the bed. Not what I would expect for what we paid for the room. I believe there was also supposed to be water in room if you are a motel one member but there wasn’t any.
Switch on. beOne.

Newcastle
The gateway to Scotland
Newcastle upon Tyne, the northernmost UK city south of the border, is frequently referred to as the gateway to Scotland, but in fact has much more to offer. Our centrally-located Design Hotel makes a perfect base from which to explore the city’s fascinating history and the multifaceted contrasts between “coal and culture” that it represents. Sleep in cosy box-spring beds, start your day with a healthy, organic breakfast, and relax amongst designer furniture in our One Lounge.
Newcastle has a rich history, represented by its city walls dating back to the 13th century, the Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas, and the seven different bridges spanning the Tyne. Imposing buildings recall the former wealth of the coal industry, and the consequences of industrialisation. Today’s Newcastle is a lively city for art, architecture and night-life, and has impressively bridged the gap from the industrial to the post-industrial age. Welcome to “The Toon”!

“Sometimes I miss my River Tyne”
The Tyne river, frequently memorialised in song, is spanned by no fewer than seven bridges. Most interesting to tourists are perhaps the Tyne Bridge completed in the first half of the 20th century, the High Level Bridge and the comparatively recent Gateshead Millennium Bridge.
Art and culture aficionados are sure to enjoy a visit to the Laing Art Gallery, whose collection includes works by Gauguin, Turner and Holman Hunt. It is only a few minutes walk away from the hotel.
