Lovely hotel, a lot nicer than I was expecting considering the name! This is certainly not a motel, quite a nice hotel. I arrived around midday exhausted from a flight and not in the best mood. There was unfortunately no room available, however, the staff were very accommodating and offered me the option of an accessible room so that I could check-in early. I came back an hour later and they had a standard room ready for me. It would be great if there was the option to book an early check-in even if it meant paying a little extra. However, this was resolved fairly quickly. The room was comfortable and well thought out, with power points in useful places and a decent full length mirror. The restaurant and bar areas downstairs looked nice, although I didn't use them. Enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back!
Friendly staff.. Nice clean room. Able to leave luggage until needed. Altogether a great stay in a great location.
This was my 8th time staying at Motel One in Newcastle, and had another very nice stay. The hotel is very conveniently located 2 minutes from Grainger St., Market St. or Grey St., and walking distance to the Monument, Central, Haymarket, etc. I dropped off my bag earlier in the day and the staff could not be more helpful with that, checking in, etc. The room, bathroom and shower were great, not too hot or too cold and comfortable. Had the nice buffet breakfast as well. Thoroughly recommended. Hopefully be back in a year or so again.
Well located with all the services you'd expect from a city centre hotel
Friendly staff, clean rooms and a comfortable bed, all in the very centre of Newcastle. Thanks
Halloween night stay. Honestly guys, I cant be anymore happy with the location, convenience, cost. Slayed
Brilliant, friendly staff on reception. Quiet hotel in the middle of the city, couldn’t be in a better place. Extremely comfy bed and pillows. Very clean. I’ve been coming here for years now and all I would say is our bedroom was starting to look tired, particularly the carpet and some of the furnishings in the foyer were too. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in the city though!
Really friendly and helpful staff and the hotel itself is lovely and cosy. The room was very clean and adequate hanging space for clothes, no drawers but there was a shelf so foldable items could be put there. Location was amazing, very central.
Fabulous 4 night stay . Room spotless . Great location for the train station and shops . Lots of restaurants on the door step
Great spot in the centre of town
Receptionist was great, room itself was exactly what I like about Motel One - simple, clean, and sound/light proof. See you next month.
I requested a room clean, it was not cleaned or towels replenished. I spoke to reception who quickly replaced towels.
Great location, lovely staff, room was clean and comfortable - would have liked a fridge for my complimentary water but otherwise perfect!
I love staying at motel one - I have stayed frequently for years. Great hotel, super staff, always very comfortable. However more recently I have noticed some aspects of the hotel require better maintenance and it’s now a common occurrence to let the staff know on my way out that something has broken or doesn’t work in the room I was staying in. I appreciate as a building gets older and things need maintained, but I get the sense that this perhaps isn’t the priority it should be.
clean lively bedroom and dog friendly lively staff and so close to all the lively restaurants and coffee bars the motels bar is lovely too
best hotel i've staying in for years
Fabulous hotel this is our 3rd time staying here when visiting our daughter in Newcastle. Very clean and spacious rooms. Perfect location to amazing bar and restaurants, metro, shopping centre. Look forward to returning very soon. Thank you to Emanuel for a wonderful clean room. Thank you 😊
We have stayed with u several times& your rooms, service & staff are excellent. A huge Thankyou.
Chick In was easy to do online and Check Out was very straightforward. The staff were very friendly. Our room was smaller than we've been used to in Newcastle and not a lot of storage space but spotlessly clean. Nice bathroom.
I asked for the room where the windows had the view of the Tyne Bridge and a view out of the other window on the corner as per the image on booking.com. I was told that wasnt a problem and you would reserve it. Unfortunately I ended up with a room a floor lower, maybe, and one window that was frozen out so nothing was visible, and the other window we had to draw the curtain most of the time as it looked straight into other rooms and people in a lift. So the great joy of actually getting the room shown on the website, soon fell to disappointment. Staff as always are great and helpful. ☹️
Excellent first impression when entering reception, I would say it had the wao factor ,from the location to the staff and room and value for money ,could not find no problems at all, would highly recommend
Very small room for the price we paid,
Stayed here a few times now, location is fantastic, its quiet given where it is. Beds are comfy and shower good. Rooms are small but for 1 night fine & hasnt put us off staying again.
This time I had a bad experience. I was there last week and on Wednesday I reported that I had lost a ring that I had left in my room. I asked them to look for it and help me find it, but I got no response, not even a hint of empathy, and I can't believe I had to chase people down to get an answer. I'm still waiting for a response from a lady who never answered me. I find this unacceptable and very disappointing.
2nd stay at Motel One Newcastle, both stays were great. Perfect location, very clean and room has everything you need. My only negatives on this stay is that the shower gel made my skin very dry, last year breakfast was included for free on our stay but not on this stay unfortunately.
No kettle in room, glass in bathroom and quite possibly the worst breakfast I've ever seen in a hotel of this standard.
Lovely clean hotel Friendly helpfull staff and hotel is central to all amenities
Excellent hotel, always clean and comfortable with an exceptional front of house team
As usual, the team and service were amazing. They were able to accommodate me at the last minute when I was stranded due to train cancellations.
Excellent
Very pleasant 2 night stay with family members. Very central for all amenities. Friendly staff. Rooms where just what you need.
Excellent location! Helpful and friendly staff. Room with city view was great, bed comfy but one little thing was that the hairdryer wasn't in working order.
I try to stay at Motel One when I am in Newcastle (almost every week, with work). The staff are welcoming and the environment is restful and tastefully designed. Also, it makes a real difference to arrive at a hotel where the reception staff remember my name. :)
Great location, staff were fantastic and friendly and super clean room
Nice central hotel, modern and clean and really friendly staff
I very much enjoyed staying at Motel One. It was very clean, comfortable and the location was very convenient for walking to the train station, the university, the stadium, shopping, etc. The only drawback that I experienced was a lack of drawer space in the room for keeping folded clothes.
The room was very clean and staff friendly but I slept bady due to thumping bass from one of the many bars in the area. I was kindly put at the back and on the 7th floor but still it was impossible to sleep until the noise stopped at around 2.30am and then I had to be awake early so had little sleep. Felt bad for the rest of the day. Maybe the hotel should issue earplugs given that the city centre is always so full on.
Location was fantastic however the room we stayed in wasn’t particularly clean, there was a shower part that was not attached to the shower properly, that fell when I was taking a shower. Inside the hotel is stunning but I feel there could be more of an upgrade in the rooms, we were unable to use the tv on numerous occasions due to it not connecting
Covers standart requirements. Good breakfast.
After a busy day at work, Motel One feels like a restful and chilled place to unwind. Great staff and a lovely hotel.
Thanks for the great service!!
Can’t recommend Motel One Newcastle and the wonderful staff there enough!! My head has been in a spin with a new job that has me in different cities 4 nights a week and so when I made my booking I messed up and made it for a completely different day. I was a no show for the date I had booked and had no reservation for that very day. I turned up for this work related stay and Jordan on reception was super nice and understanding about my mistake. I’ve seen Jordan on reception before and he’s always a pleasure to speak to and a credit to the hotel and this time he went above and beyond to speak to management and move my booking to fit me in. I was so grateful as I couldn’t have afforded to buy a new room and had nowhere else to go! I was also served by a lovely man at the hotel bar who made me a great mocktail and provided me with some decaf teabags to enjoy over a book in the room. We also stay here occasionally with our dog and we find the rooms, location, the staff, the dog friendly-ness, the breakfast and the hotel bar all absolutely wonderful! !
Check in went smoothly and the receptionist was friendly and welcoming , seeming genuinely interested in our plans . We’ve stayed at Motel One lots of times, most recently at The Royal Exchange , Manchester . We know exactly what to expect when we stay … clean, stylish room, excellent bathroom and super comfy bed . We love the Newcastle Motel One for its location … wonderful part of town . Excellent value for money too.
Fabulous staff, everyone was so warm, helpful, knowledgeable & delightful, thank you. Unfortunately we didn't have chance to take advantage of your wonderful bar as we didn't want to miss anything our great location had to offer us. Such a comfortable bed, but sadly we didn't sleep well as our room was too warm & the temperature control didn't work adequately. I really, really didn't like the plastic cups in our room, they were scratched & stained, they just looked very unhygienic, but when I asked for two mugs instead it was dealt with beautifully. The breakfast was delicious, though I'm vegetarian & it would be great to see another cheese added maybe. The local jams are delicious! We loved the whole vibe of the place though & would most definitely return. x
Lovely hotel but rooms quite basic compared to the rest of the building. Clean and comfortable. Staff really friendly and helpful
fantastic location and super clean beds very comfy couldnt fault
Great for an overnight stay, easy check in and friendly staff. Room was small but had everything we needed, beds are comfortable and overall the hotel is stylish and clean.
Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Room quite small but adequate, extremely clean and bed comfortable. Bar welcoming, comfy chairs and a great choice of cocktails. We called in following a concert at City Hall. Breakfast was continental only but superb and well worth the money. Location is fantastic, 6min walk from central station and 10min walk to City hall. Very much enjoyed my stay and will return.
Lovely hotel staff very friendly stay at this hotel every time we visit Newcastle
I guess if I had paid more I would have got a better room. As it was it had a view of a boxing gym and some store room and it was very small. The storage area and hanger area when you go in was quite large but not really enough hangers if there was two people. There was a hairdryer but I guess you have to ask for an iron. The bathroom was also small but I actually really liked the layout and decor. The shower was great. The bed was comfortable enough. The room I found quite warm but the air con even set at low temperature still gave out faint warm air which was a problem. If I turned it up it went a bit lower strangely enough but then decided to go full blast heat with a scorching smell which took ages to get rid of by opening the window. By opening the window you had quite a bit of street noise so a no win there. The staff were friendly and helped me a lot with other things.
Switch on. beOne.

Newcastle
The gateway to Scotland
Newcastle upon Tyne, the northernmost UK city south of the border, is frequently referred to as the gateway to Scotland, but in fact has much more to offer. Our centrally-located Design Hotel makes a perfect base from which to explore the city’s fascinating history and the multifaceted contrasts between “coal and culture” that it represents. Sleep in cosy box-spring beds, start your day with a healthy, organic breakfast, and relax amongst designer furniture in our One Lounge.
Newcastle has a rich history, represented by its city walls dating back to the 13th century, the Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas, and the seven different bridges spanning the Tyne. Imposing buildings recall the former wealth of the coal industry, and the consequences of industrialisation. Today’s Newcastle is a lively city for art, architecture and night-life, and has impressively bridged the gap from the industrial to the post-industrial age. Welcome to “The Toon”!

“Sometimes I miss my River Tyne”
The Tyne river, frequently memorialised in song, is spanned by no fewer than seven bridges. Most interesting to tourists are perhaps the Tyne Bridge completed in the first half of the 20th century, the High Level Bridge and the comparatively recent Gateshead Millennium Bridge.
Art and culture aficionados are sure to enjoy a visit to the Laing Art Gallery, whose collection includes works by Gauguin, Turner and Holman Hunt. It is only a few minutes walk away from the hotel.
In the evenings, Newcastle turns into a major party destination, with a night-life ranked alongside that of London, Las Vegas and Rio de Janeiro. Trendy bars, music venues and clubs are filled with locals and attract thousands of tourists to the city.
