Scrupulously clean room. Lovely welcome. This is why we are repeat customers.
It was wonderful! We will definitely be back.
Get some better pillows!
Great location and great staff. Busy hotel so they did great. Loved the security checking also when coming into the hotel later at night.
A very comfortable hotel great facilities and helpful courteous staff
Nice hotel, friendly staff, all let down by your constant communication in German!!
We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The location was perfect, with the city centre and Quayside both just a short walk away, making it ideal for exploring Newcastle. The staff were all friendly, welcoming, and happy to help throughout our stay. Our room was spotlessly clean, modern, and very comfortable, with everything we needed. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great base in the city.
Love the hotel - perfect for us as disabled guests as bedroom facilities are excellent
The allocated room was suffocating hot, windows did not open and AC had no positive effect. Room overall was spartan, too compact and the upholstered chair was stained. We had to use a bath towel to cover it. On day two we had no bath towels. Reception did quickly resolve and supplied a fan when asked. I,m afraid our first Motel One will be our last.
Very comfortable, quiet and clean. Great location and friendly staff.
Good value and great stay.
All good, except for the fact that I had a view from one window over an area below of litter and dirty bins. This may be out of your control, but if there's anything you can do to get it tidied up then I would if I were you. Or if not, consider a film over those windows to blur out the view while still letting light in. (The view from the other window was splendid!) PS I only rated the bar as a 6 because I didn't use it.
I felt it was too expensive for what we received, no breakfast and the tea bags were awful.
Hotel was lovely If the breakfast was a more reasonable price we would have booked it for both days so couldn't comment on the food
Excellent location, very friendly helpful staff, would definitely return
Superb location. Very clean and friendly staff. Will stay again.
Really good experience, recommend location and excellent value for money
Simple hotel. The pillows were so hard they gave me neck issues for days.
All good apart from the ‘in room’ TV didn’t work and disappointed that the breakfast was only continental
We stayed here for 2 nights, the hotel does not have air conditioning and during our stay the heat in the room was unbearable. Fans were provided by reception but did not make a great deal of difference.
Hotel bar & restaurant of high standard, but bedroom standard not always matching. Rather average room with remote control not working, no water provided, no bin liners
I paid £2.95 for 2 nights , the bedroom Was very small it was very basic , was very dissatisfied with it , will not return
First time staying at a Motel one hotel and it will be my go to from now on. Loved the decor, friendly staff and atmosphere nice and chilled. The continental breakfast was very well presented with lots of choice.
Public areas are beautiful - especially the terrace. My room needed a couple of upkeep things seeing to - #618. blocked plug socket (broken off charger pin) and TV remote intermittent.
Reception staff where very friendly and welcoming. Our room was unfortunately in the 'old' part of the hotel and was unbearably hot, especially for our dog. They did go above and beyond to ensure we where comfortable, providing fans and best advice for the rooms air-recirculation fan. Of course they cannot control the weather but the room was still unbearably hot as other guests agreed. Overall the room was very clean and modern considering its age. Bathroom was excellent and very clean. Carpet on the floor landing was dirty though. No food, water bowl or bed is provided for our dog although the Hotel in Glasgow does. 4/5 overall. Lobby is very comfortable and the open-air seating space is very nice.
Hotel staff good as usual - didn’t realise the tea and coffee station was closed so could not just stop and grab a tea and do some work - tv in room was only receiving 9 channels and not even bbc 1 - couldn’t be repaired and offered another room but at 8 pm I couldn’t be bothered moving
Really enjoyed my stay in this lovely hotel.
Great price superb location right in the heart of the city. Hotel spotless. Bar prices fair and not overpriced
We had a very nice stay. Room was comfortable. Bar area was good with an outside seating area in the sun. Easy check in. All good.
Reasonably priced rooms , friendly staff and clean.
Great location and a surprisingly modern building behind an original building facade.
Hotel lovely and clean. Staff attentive and friendly. Got us a room earlier than 3pm, couldn't do enough for us really. Have me a fan for the room even though it was lovely and cool. Beds very comfy, hotel very quiet. Didn't try the food but it seemed good as we walked past at breakfast time to check out. Would 100% stay again. Location perfect 👌🏻
Everything was perfect other than cooling due it summer. The air cooling system isn;t sufficient as we continue to have heatwaves which meant disrupted sleep on all nights
Great location. Friendly, welcomimg staff. Basic room nothing like pics in gallery. No net so had to keep curtain shut for privacy. Bedside was in a nook so difficult to use and only at one side of bed. Cleaner came in despite notes on door and attempted to on 2nd day too. No space to store luggage.
Really disappointed this time. We have stayed at motel one in Newcastle and Manchester ( royal exchange ) on multiple occasions and always enjoyed our experience. This time I was left disappointed , particularly with the check in staff and process which I found rude and disappointing. That said, I do recognise that it was busy with graduations, however, having travelled a considerable distance, it was not the welcome that we are used to.
.clean perfect location helpful friendly staff tv WiFi and air con what more do you need If I had one small issue was th.at the pillows were. Little too filled
I could hear the club next door to the hotel extremely loudly the first night of my stay. I also would've wished there was decaf tea available in the rooms instead of just caffeinated. Vegan options at breakfast were also lacking
Great hotel and location. Rooms were clean and comfy and there was a great selection of breakfast choices. Thank you!
Lovely hotel, staff were very friendly and room was lovely. Nice and quiet, with a lovely bar area too. Was a solo traveller and felt very safe
Excellent staff throughout, great continental breakfast, lovely clean room
Always enjoy our stay. Comfortable and freindly.
Lovely service, good bar, central location and clean
This is our third stay at Motel One and once again was a lovely experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
New hotel in good location. Helpful staff. Early check in was no problem and a good bonus. Our room was not clean but it was dealt with appropriately. Quite a disappointment but accepted the front office manager’s resolution. She was excellent.
I did book an Executive room. I don’t think I got this. 2 ziplock mattresses for the double bed and a sofa bed. Not a nice view overlooking the street couldn’t keep the curtains open. I was near the lift could hear it throughout the night. Reception and other staff were lovely. I should have checked if that was an Executive Room that I had payed for.
Lovely central hotel , lovely decorated and staff very accommodating
Good location close to Metro & car park
Great location, rooms were lovely & the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Would definitely recommend.
We had a very spacious room overlooking the street. As mentioned in other reviews the noise levels could be quite high and well into the night. But then it was during the world cup. The bed was very comfortable. There isn't much storage space and I would suggest replacing the bedside tables with some that have drawers. Breakfast was excellent with a wide range of food. We didn't miss not having a cooked option. Lots of comfortable seating in the public areas. And it was nice and cook there a bonus during the heatwave.
Tidy room, and no worries about bedbugs as the sheets seemed to be very well cleaned. The cool air was very refreshing in these hot climate circumstances. The staff was very friendly.
Switch on. beOne.

Newcastle
The gateway to Scotland
Newcastle upon Tyne, the northernmost UK city south of the border, is frequently referred to as the gateway to Scotland, but in fact has much more to offer. Our centrally-located Design Hotel makes a perfect base from which to explore the city’s fascinating history and the multifaceted contrasts between “coal and culture” that it represents. Sleep in cosy box-spring beds, start your day with a healthy, organic breakfast, and relax amongst designer furniture in our One Lounge.
Newcastle has a rich history, represented by its city walls dating back to the 13th century, the Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas, and the seven different bridges spanning the Tyne. Imposing buildings recall the former wealth of the coal industry, and the consequences of industrialisation. Today’s Newcastle is a lively city for art, architecture and night-life, and has impressively bridged the gap from the industrial to the post-industrial age. Welcome to “The Toon”!

“Sometimes I miss my River Tyne”
The Tyne river, frequently memorialised in song, is spanned by no fewer than seven bridges. Most interesting to tourists are perhaps the Tyne Bridge completed in the first half of the 20th century, the High Level Bridge and the comparatively recent Gateshead Millennium Bridge.
Art and culture aficionados are sure to enjoy a visit to the Laing Art Gallery, whose collection includes works by Gauguin, Turner and Holman Hunt. It is only a few minutes walk away from the hotel.
In the evenings, Newcastle turns into a major party destination, with a night-life ranked alongside that of London, Las Vegas and Rio de Janeiro. Trendy bars, music venues and clubs are filled with locals and attract thousands of tourists to the city. So round off your visit to Newcastle with a fun-filled night on the tiles, then relax in the comfort of our affordable Design Hotel. Welcome to Newcastle!
