Central, clen and exceptional Staff
overall very good hotel, nice personell, good breakfast, clean and well equiped rooms
I had a wonderful stay at Motel One Madrid-Plaza de España. The location is absolutely perfect for exploring the city, the rooms were modern and incredibly clean, and the staff was very welcoming. Highly recommended
Really good location, nice clean room ( except some paint stains on the floor of the shower, not a problem though). Really helpful and welcoming staff.
'We had the feeling of staying at a hotel which is very well run. This is to us the most important .
Excellent, convenient hotel in central Madrid. Staff efficient and helpful, accommodation if a high standard.
The Hotel bedsheet had stains , person didn’t pick up the used tea cups which lying there for 2 nights ….the keys didn’t work 2 times , lights in room went off once on its own … when I requested for a room change nothing was done or no update was provided , When I asked reception to help check for another night extension (as I had a business meeting planned and decided to extend one night ) - but I requested her to check for a better room on the road side , the receptionist spoke very rudely and kept rolling her eyes and making faces - she even said that for standard price can’t expect a better room than what has been provided unless I pay more .. she quoted a higher price than what was on the motel one website , I even showed it to her ,,,, then she said I should book it online on ur website , while I was doing this she asked me to step aside so that she can check the next person in and after that she would entertain me again.. this was also strange as I was trying to extend my stay and instead of helping me she asked me to wait aside, the tone was very demeaning sounding like we are unwanted guests for booking standard rooms …me and my brother found this behaviour extremely rude and by this time my brother also said this was it - we had had enough and I decided to check out and book plan another stay elsewhere —- nothing against Motel one but never staying on this Madrid property ever again nor will I ever recommend this to anyone..,I am writing this review to reflect that as travellers we expect comfort and better treatment…, one shouldn’t leave with such a bad feeling … no one should be treated unfairly or rudely depending on the room they book …. Also for a 4 star hotel friendliness , cleanliness and responsive attitude is the least I could have expected …I didn’t ask for the name of the receptionist but this was on Sunday 21 June morning but if u wanna change something please train ur reception to behave better !!!!
Room with a view of a filthy wall covered in bird droppings. An empty room with no drinking water, no kettle, no tea or coffee, no hair conditioner or body lotion. No slippers, no bathrobe. The air conditioner kept turning on by itself and eventually stopped turning off altogether. Of course, the room phone wasn’t working either. At 1:30 a.m., I had to go down to reception to ask someone to switch it off. Perhaps I was already exhausted, but the only positive aspects of this room were the comfortable bed and pillows. The breakfast was very modest. In reality, the selection consisted almost entirely of pastries and other flour-based items. I’m surprised this hotel was recommended by a colleague. I would not recommend it and will definitely not be returning.
since the moment we stepped in, all people have been polite and keen in helping us on whatever we needed. room was spacious, clean and breakfast was oustanding. well located, very near a metro and bus stop as well as to Plaza Espana. main spots at walking distance
Lovely room, very comfortable beds, good shower, and friendly reception staff.
Pros - great friendly staff, good location, nice room, comfortable bed cons- our daughter emailed twice for hotel to leave a card in our room as it was our anniversary, both times she was told it had been done but in actual fact it had not. In the room there was no info about how to contact reception. There were no glasses to have a drink from. No tea/coffee facility. No additional blanket for when it gets cold at night. Breakfast - pretty basic, the boiled eggs, tortilla de patatas was cold, coffee from machine was cold or not hot, limited options for vegetarians like us, pastries were not of good quality. Fruit salad was good, cereal options were good, honey was good. I am not writing this as a criticism, but I do think some/many things could be done just that little bit better great staff for it to be considered a very good hotel. You have the most important ingredient great staff, so the rest should be easy to implement
We had a good stay at Motel One in a suite with a bedroom and one-and-a-half bathrooms. The room was super clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The balcony was nice, though I would have liked more privacy between neighboring guests—maybe some plants or dividers. I also found a few things missing compared to what I'm used to in North America—no coffee machine, no iron, no room service, and no housekeeping bringing items to the room. For example, I had to pick up a blanket myself. That said, the location was perfect, and the overall cleanliness and friendliness of the staff were excellent.
A kettle in the room would be much appreciated. Apart from that, the hotel is great as usual.
Excelente location, environment, rooms are very confortable and acustics isolated..
Fantastic stay! Location, staff, rooms - superb.
Wonderful experience
Nice welcomre and always friendly and helpful staff.
Good location but the AC in the room didn't work properly. It was very warm.
Very central location. Walking distance to all city sightseeing and a lot of good restaurants. You can reach main shopping districts by walk. Good breakfast, large enough rooms.
Lovely clean room good, a/c good wifi Friendly staff Only thing no kettle in room
Breakfast was top notch and staff was incredibly helpful
Central, clean and lovely Staff
The hotel was in a great location and was very clean. The continental breakfast was good and the staff were nice.
Very nice stay. Clean and spacey rooms, nicw breakfast. Thank you!
While we enjoyed the location of this hotel, we did not find that it was in alignment with it's 4-star rating. The rooms and bathrooms are quite bare and stark. Our hair dryer was little more than a gentle breeze, and there is nothing in the way of conditioner or lotion, so bring your own. The mattresses felt like foam, which was fine but we were just there for 2 nights. The front desk staff were to the point. Near the desk in our room, you could see the bare edge of drywall. We are also aware that we likely experienced higher pricing during our stay, as we unknowingly booked during an annual festival in the city. Likely due to that, the price paid felt higher than the level of accommodation. We likely would not return to this hotel, but there wasn't anything technically wrong with it.
Very good breakfast, lovely staff!
There was a lot of noise coming from the hallway and adjacent rooms which woke me from my sleep. I had exchanged emails prior to arrival with staff outlining that this trip was to mark a special occasion and they had said a note was made to see if anything could be done to enhance our stay. On arrival it was clear that this note was either not made or passed on.
Very good location. Room and bathroom have naice size. Very comfortable bed and pillow.
Staff os good, breakfast is better than usually. Local options are good. Room is in not the best state, black mold in the bathroom, dirty curtains, very bad isolation from other rooms and the street. Very cold inside. Room was big but completely empty. I have stayed in many one chain hotels. Even if the room is small, it os cozy and nice. Here the state was questionable
Hotel was in great location, was well presented and beautifully clean. Staff were knowledgeable of the area, very friendly and helpful. Only thing that might improve a stay would be tea/coffee making facilities in the room
Clean, very central and very nice Staff
Two of us spent 5 nights here. We can’t fault it. Everything is just great. Rooms and beds are comfortable, noise from outside not a problem due to excellent glazing, the staff are all (without exception) really nice and welcoming. We love the layout with lobby/bar/reception/breakfast all in one. Decor is cheerful and interesting. Location is superb. We stayed in Motel One in Copenhagen and it’s exactly the same vibe. We’ll always look out for a Motel One when planning our travels!
I love this hotel and have stayed here twice when visiting with my son who lives nearby. The hotel is modern, clean, very comfortable, in a great location, and both times it has been exceptionally quiet which is sometimes hard to find when visiting Europe. They also have a nice breakfast that you can purchase for 15 euros which I found very reasonable considering the offerings. I will be back the next time I come to Madrid to visit my son.
Central, very clean and excellent breakfast
The hotel was lovely. The one drawback was the air conditioning system which struggled to keep the room at a comfortable temperature.
When we make reservation from booking, we are not informed that we are having connecting rooms. Because of noise and talking, I couldn’t sleep for 2 nights.
Clean place. Good breakfast.
Very comfortable, exceptionally clean hotel, very well located.
The room was too hot, and the air condition did not seem to do any difference. So we didn't sleep well during the stay. Breakfast was good. Staff was nice overall, but when we asked for a mailbox they did not try to find one, just replaid that there is probobly one at Plaza Espana.
Excellent. Great staff.
The front desk staff were consistently courteous and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were modest but clean, which is what matters most. The TV didn’t work, but it wasn’t an issue for us since we were out exploring most of the time. The included breakfast was decent, with fresh coffee and rolls. The location is very central, making it easy to get around on foot for sightseeing. Overall, it’s a solid place to stay.
Rooms need renovartion
Very good services
Once again, I was really pleased with my stay at a Motel 1. The location was great, the rooms spacious and clean, same with the bathroom and the hotel has excellent soundproof windows. The staff is very welcoming and very helpful.
Overall I had a good experience in your hotel. I just have some pain points to share: - the heating in the room is noisy - there was no beverage, such as a bottle of water, available in the fridge (even payant) - the room isolation is not good, I could hear a lot the noise from outside.
Excellent services. I've appreciated the openess of the personell to customer needs and also help with storing luggage until flight hour was absolutely great. I will search further to book Motel One also on other visits from other cities.
Spacious, clean and attractive room in an excellent location
Breakfast was not good enough. Doesn't value for the money the room. The stuff was friendly.
The staff was friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable and spacious.
Very nice, central, clean and charming Staff
Switch on. beOne.

Madrid, the city that never sleeps
Discover the Spanish capital - Your hotel in Madrid
Have you heard of the city that never sleeps? Of course you have. Who hasn't heard of New York? But hang on, who said we’re talking about New York? We mean Madrid. The exuberant Spanish capital needs just as little sleep as the Big Apple – entirely in keeping with the motto ‘Madrid nunca duerme’. Its historic streets are bustling from early in the morning until late at night. And it’s not just the many rustic tapas bars that are busy. The tablaos, Madrid’s cultural heart, are also buzzing with activity. It’s no wonder that these traditional dance clubs are considered to be the home of flamenco. Since the early 19th century, these venues have brought together the best features of this Andalusian dance style – from rhythmic guitar solos to bright red dresses and the atmospheric sound of castanets. And after a night of flamenco in Madrid, you definitely won’t be in a hurry to return to your hotel. Because the city that never sleeps has more to offer than music and dance: be it breakfast in the impressive Plaza Mayor, a selfie in front of the Royal Palace or a spot of leisurely window shopping along the Gran Vía – there’s a bit of everything in Spain’s cultural metropolis.

Madrid, the architectural treasure trove
Madrid’s architecture is second to none. It boasts a host of historical gems, such as those at Puerta del Sol, for example, which is one of the Spanish capital’s most famous sites. Whether you approach it from the north, south, east or west, this square welcomes visitors from all directions with its stately architecture, making it the perfect place for a magical New Year’s Eve. Because as the clock strikes midnight, this charming square is transformed into a minor extravaganza for the legendary Doce Uvas. But even more architectural treasures await on the Gran Vía. Madrid’s 1,300-metre-long main avenue meanders proudly through the city. It’s no wonder that more than 10 million visitors walk along it every year. It’s definitely earned its affectionate nickname of ‘Madrid’s Great Way’. Seen enough of Madrid’s Great Way? How about taking a short breather in the Parque del Retiro? Right next to the Museo Reina Sofía, this beautiful spot invites you to unwind and relax – in an area that covers a whopping 1.43 square kilometres. The centrepiece of this stately park is the crescent-shaped monument to Alfonso XII, which depicts the former ruler gracefully enthroned upon his great horse.
Football fans take note: Madrid also has an architectural highlight in store for you. Royalty honour us with their presence at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. But we’re not talking about Spanish royalty, of course. We mean Real Madrid. Be it nerve-racking Champions League matches, heart-wrenchingly close league games or European Cup thrillers – this famous turf has witnessed a great deal of action. In 1964, it even saw Spain become European champions. Speaking of royalty: Spain’s actual royal palace is also worth a visit. This baroque building in the heart of Madrid, better known as the Palacio Real, attracts visitors from around the world. But they’re not only impressed with the artistically decorated façade of this masterpiece, built in 1751. They also marvel at its majestic interior décor. Its elegant, Cinderella-style ballrooms, the Royal Chapel and Hall of Mirrors are the stuff of childhood dreams.

Culture lovers in particular will appreciate the central location of the hotel. In just a few minutes, you can enjoy Madrid’s cultural scene. How about a tour of Spanish and Italian art history, for example? At Museo del Prado, affectionately known as ‘Prado’, artistic masters stand shoulder to shoulder – from Diego Velázquez to Francisco de Goya and Sandro Botticelli.
Looking for a touch of America in the middle of Madrid? Not a problem, because the Museo de América bridges the distance with flying colours. Its over 25,000 relics transport you straight to North and South America. Music lovers can get their kicks at Teatro Real, a magnificent 19th-century opera house that is easily accessible from your hotel – whether on foot or by bus and train.
What a day! You return to your hotel with lots of precious memories. But just before reaching the lobby, your tummy suddenly rumbles. No wonder. After all, cultural highlights will certainly help you work up an appetite. So it’s a good job that the city’s culinary scene is right outside the design hotel.
