Room, breakfasts were excellent, and what a wonderful location! One mild suggestion - some of us come down late for breakfast (before closing, but we are still enjoying breakfast past the official closing). Some, not all, of the breakfast staff seem to rush the clean up, changing what is an otherwise welcoming atmosphere. We love MotelOne.
Clean, very central and lovely staff
What a gem of a hotel. The rooms are big, the beds are comphy. The brreakfast was awesome. Not to mention 24 hr bar. The staff is supe helpful. Can't beat the location - close to Plaza Espana, but also on a quiet street.
Room is clean but very bare minimum. Shower needs to be redesigned for larger clients. Hard to get in and out of shower for me and I’m not a big person. Coffee station and bottled water should be available even if hou have to charge for it. The water pressure for the shower was extremely weak. Very central to everything.
The front desk personnel was very friendly and a warm welcome.
Room 516: The shower door leaks water and floods the bathroom floor. The shower head also does not allow the different water pressure settings to be adjusted. It would be useful to invest in kettles for the rooms so that guests can make tea or coffee, as the room rates are not exactly inexpensive. Thank you.
I felt at home. Everything smooth, staff very kind and efficient. The only suggestion is about air contitioning in the rooms. I kept it running during the nights because it was very hot and the cold air stream was pointing directly into my face. You could find a way to direct it to the cealing. Thanks.

The location is great. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Instructions in the room on how to tackle the air-con would have been useful. The shower cubicle could do with the mold being removed and the lights need to be check to make sure all the bulbs are working. Not the case in my room, but it wasn't a big problem for me.

Service excellent, room good but bathroom mouldy
The hotel is located centrally with walking distance to major attractions and many nearby cafe and restaurants. The bathroom performs very poorly with low water pressure and non-existent amenities. The room’s ACs is not most user-friendly, leading to either too cold or hot rooms (it’s fan runs even when it is switched off). The breakfast lacks variety and more Spanish flavour - no omelette or hot meals makes it skippable. The staff is friendly albeit requesting additional amenities requires some negotiation.

Very nice big room. The floor in the bathroom and shower weren't cleaned so there was a lot of short dark hair. The room was at the end of the floor so it was really calm. Nice shower, enough towels, toilet paper and tissues. I really enjoyed staying there. The staff was kind and helpful. The organisation with the water bottle is complicated, just put it in the room and add an information how to open it. Before the stay, I read reviews that the air conditioning is set too cold and I agree (woke up with a cold). If I should come back to Madrid, I would consider to stay in Motel One again.
Good morning, The welcome, helpfulness, and facilities were excellent, just like the other Motel Ones I've stayed at (Prague, Barcelona). However, I must point out that the shower didn't live up to expectations and the price. There were signs of mold around the shower tray, and itself was a bit worn (room 407). Regards.

This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel. We have yet to be disappointed, the staff, the service, the rooms, all great. The location is ideal for a visit to the city, the metro and bus system are a short walk away. There are decent restaurants and bars in the area as well. Overall another great stay.
The place was great and clean but dcoked points because the AC was not very strong and the mini fridge was not cold at all. We had a few very hot days and the room stayed hot all night unfortunately.

Overall, a good stay with solid value for money. The hotel was clean, well designed, conveniently located, and the staff were welcoming. The bar was also a nice touch. The main downsides were the mattresses, which felt old and not very comfortable, the lack of basic in-room amenities such as a coffee machine or kettle, and the slow Wi-Fi. Housekeeping could also be improved, as towels and sheets were not replaced unless I specifically requested it.
Sink was not properly functioning and water pressure of the shower rather low. In addition a coffee machine would be very nice. Apart of that my stay was very decent. The location is great.
The location is good, right next to Pl. de Espana, and the room is decent, albeit rather basic. I'm just a little annoyed that I paid extra for a king's room for me and my partner, only for my daughter, whom I only paid a standard for, to receive a free upgrade... She enjoyed her stay thoroughly because of the big bed!
Everything is good but because of there was no slippers and minibar didn't work my overall score is 8.
The hotel is very well located, close to the Royal Palace and about 15 mins walk to Sol. The room was spotlessly clean, very comfortable bed with good quality linen. Good size bathroom with both shower and bathtub. We would be delighted to stay here again.
Fantastic state the staff were fantastic super helpful and efficient. Bar area is nice modern and comfortable our room was clean and everything we needed except a mini fridge would be nice

I was offered Room 602, a top-floor room with a terrace. If this is indeed one of the hotel's best rooms, it would be wonderful to have a kettle available so guests can prepare their own tea or coffee. Otherwise, the room was very spacious, and the bathroom was clean, modern, and well maintained.
Good hotel. I come back every year. But in the evening the surrounding (on the street) is very dirty.

I had a wonderful stay at Motel One Madrid-Plaza de España. The location is absolutely perfect for exploring the city, the rooms were modern and incredibly clean, and the staff was very welcoming. Highly recommended

The Hotel bedsheet had stains , person didn’t pick up the used tea cups which lying there for 2 nights ….the keys didn’t work 2 times , lights in room went off once on its own … when I requested for a room change nothing was done or no update was provided , When I asked reception to help check for another night extension (as I had a business meeting planned and decided to extend one night ) - but I requested her to check for a better room on the road side , the receptionist spoke very rudely and kept rolling her eyes and making faces - she even said that for standard price can’t expect a better room than what has been provided unless I pay more .. she quoted a higher price than what was on the motel one website , I even showed it to her ,,,, then she said I should book it online on ur website , while I was doing this she asked me to step aside so that she can check the next person in and after that she would entertain me again.. this was also strange as I was trying to extend my stay and instead of helping me she asked me to wait aside, the tone was very demeaning sounding like we are unwanted guests for booking standard rooms …me and my brother found this behaviour extremely rude and by this time my brother also said this was it - we had had enough and I decided to check out and book plan another stay elsewhere —- nothing against Motel one but never staying on this Madrid property ever again nor will I ever recommend this to anyone..,I am writing this review to reflect that as travellers we expect comfort and better treatment…, one shouldn’t leave with such a bad feeling … no one should be treated unfairly or rudely depending on the room they book …. Also for a 4 star hotel friendliness , cleanliness and responsive attitude is the least I could have expected …I didn’t ask for the name of the receptionist but this was on Sunday 21 June morning but if u wanna change something please train ur reception to behave better !!!!
Room with a view of a filthy wall covered in bird droppings. An empty room with no drinking water, no kettle, no tea or coffee, no hair conditioner or body lotion. No slippers, no bathrobe. The air conditioner kept turning on by itself and eventually stopped turning off altogether. Of course, the room phone wasn’t working either. At 1:30 a.m., I had to go down to reception to ask someone to switch it off. Perhaps I was already exhausted, but the only positive aspects of this room were the comfortable bed and pillows. The breakfast was very modest. In reality, the selection consisted almost entirely of pastries and other flour-based items. I’m surprised this hotel was recommended by a colleague. I would not recommend it and will definitely not be returning.

Pros - great friendly staff, good location, nice room, comfortable bed cons- our daughter emailed twice for hotel to leave a card in our room as it was our anniversary, both times she was told it had been done but in actual fact it had not. In the room there was no info about how to contact reception. There were no glasses to have a drink from. No tea/coffee facility. No additional blanket for when it gets cold at night. Breakfast - pretty basic, the boiled eggs, tortilla de patatas was cold, coffee from machine was cold or not hot, limited options for vegetarians like us, pastries were not of good quality. Fruit salad was good, cereal options were good, honey was good. I am not writing this as a criticism, but I do think some/many things could be done just that little bit better great staff for it to be considered a very good hotel. You have the most important ingredient great staff, so the rest should be easy to implement
We had a good stay at Motel One in a suite with a bedroom and one-and-a-half bathrooms. The room was super clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The balcony was nice, though I would have liked more privacy between neighboring guests—maybe some plants or dividers. I also found a few things missing compared to what I'm used to in North America—no coffee machine, no iron, no room service, and no housekeeping bringing items to the room. For example, I had to pick up a blanket myself. That said, the location was perfect, and the overall cleanliness and friendliness of the staff were excellent.
A kettle in the room would be much appreciated. Apart from that, the hotel is great as usual.

Už jste slyšeli o městě, které nikdy nespí? Samozřejmě, kdo by neslyšel o New Yorku? Moment, kdo tu mluví o New Yorku? Řeč je o Madridu. Temperamentní hlavní město Španělska nepotřebuje spát o nic víc než Velké jablko – přesně podle hesla „Madrid nunca duerme“. Jeho historické ulice a uličky pulzují životem od rána až do noci. Nejsou to ale jen klasické tapas bary, které jsou plné lidí a dobré nálady. Také v tančírnách tablaos, které jsou kulturním srdcem Madridu, je o zábavu postaráno. A není divu, protože tyto tradiční tančírny jsou považovány za domov flamenca, a to z dobrého důvodu. Už od počátku 19. století spojují mezi čtyřmi stěnami to nejlepší z andaluského tanečního umění – od rytmických kytarových sól přes sytě červený oděv až po působivý zvuk kastanět. Po noci protančené v rytmu flamenca samozřejmě ještě zdaleka není čas vrátit se do hotelu. Město, které nikdy nespí, totiž nabízí mnohem víc než jen hudbu a tanec. Ať už snídaně na impozantním náměstí Plaza Mayor, selfíčko před Královským palácem nebo nákupy na Gran Vía – v kulturní metropoli Španělska najdete od všeho trochu.
Madrid – pokladnice architektury
Architektura Madridu nemá ve světě obdoby. Najdete tu jeden historický klenot vedle druhého. Co byste řekli třeba na prosluněné náměstí? V okolí Puerta del Sol září hlavní město Španělska ze všech stran. Ať už od severu, jihu, západu, nebo východu – ze všech světových stran vítá Brána slunce návštěvníky svou působivou architekturou. Jestlipak to není ideální místo pro kouzelnou silvestrovskou noc? Vždy na přelomu roku se totiž na tomto šarmantním náměstí odehrává při tradičním rituálu doce uvas (dvanáct kuliček hroznů) opravdu atraktivní podívaná.
Další architektonické poklady na vás čekají na Gran Vía. Tato oblíbená nákupní třída se táhne celým městem v délce 1300 metrů. Není divu, že se po ní každý rok projde více než 10 milionů návštěvníků. Díky tomu si vysloužila přezdívku „španělská Broadway“.

Symbolem tohoto krásného parku je mimochodem památník Alfonse XII. ve tvaru půlměsíce, v jehož centru se někdejší panovník majestátně vypíná na svém oři.
Teď by měli zbystřit zejména fotbaloví fanoušci. I pro ně si Madrid připravil nevšední architektonický zážitek. Estadio Santiago Bernabéu je domovem králů. Ale pozor, řeč samozřejmě není o španělské královské rodině. Pochopitelně máme na mysli Real Madrid. Ať už nervy drásající zápasy Ligy mistrů, velké šampionáty, nebo nezapomenutelná utkání o Evropský pohár – tento proslulý trávník toho zažil opravdu hodně. V roce 1964 dokonce udělal ze Španělů mistry Evropy.
A když už je řeč o králích, také skutečné sídlo španělské královské rodiny rozhodně stojí za návštěvu. BVarokní stavba v srdci Madridu, lépe známá jako Královský palác, láká návštěvníky už z dálky. Toto umělecké dílo, jehož historie sahá do roku 1751, je hodnotné nejen svou bohatě zdobenou fasádou. Také v interiéru má co nabídnout. Nádherné taneční sály jako v Popelce, palácové kaple a zrcadlová bludiště splní vaše dětské sny.
