Room, breakfasts were excellent, and what a wonderful location! One mild suggestion - some of us come down late for breakfast (before closing, but we are still enjoying breakfast past the official closing). Some, not all, of the breakfast staff seem to rush the clean up, changing what is an otherwise welcoming atmosphere. We love MotelOne.
Clean, very central and lovely staff
Goed hotel, mooie kamer, goede bedden, goed ontbijtbuffet en vriendelijk personeel. Verbeterpunt: er is geen thee en koffie op de kamer en de douche is in het bad wat prima is alleen het bad is gevaarlijk glad!!
What a gem of a hotel. The rooms are big, the beds are comphy. The brreakfast was awesome. Not to mention 24 hr bar. The staff is supe helpful. Can't beat the location - close to Plaza Espana, but also on a quiet street.
Room is clean but very bare minimum. Shower needs to be redesigned for larger clients. Hard to get in and out of shower for me and I’m not a big person. Coffee station and bottled water should be available even if hou have to charge for it. The water pressure for the shower was extremely weak. Very central to everything.
The front desk personnel was very friendly and a warm welcome.
Room 516: The shower door leaks water and floods the bathroom floor. The shower head also does not allow the different water pressure settings to be adjusted. It would be useful to invest in kettles for the rooms so that guests can make tea or coffee, as the room rates are not exactly inexpensive. Thank you.
I felt at home. Everything smooth, staff very kind and efficient. The only suggestion is about air contitioning in the rooms. I kept it running during the nights because it was very hot and the cold air stream was pointing directly into my face. You could find a way to direct it to the cealing. Thanks.

The location is great. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Instructions in the room on how to tackle the air-con would have been useful. The shower cubicle could do with the mold being removed and the lights need to be check to make sure all the bulbs are working. Not the case in my room, but it wasn't a big problem for me.

Service excellent, room good but bathroom mouldy
The hotel is located centrally with walking distance to major attractions and many nearby cafe and restaurants. The bathroom performs very poorly with low water pressure and non-existent amenities. The room’s ACs is not most user-friendly, leading to either too cold or hot rooms (it’s fan runs even when it is switched off). The breakfast lacks variety and more Spanish flavour - no omelette or hot meals makes it skippable. The staff is friendly albeit requesting additional amenities requires some negotiation.

Very nice big room. The floor in the bathroom and shower weren't cleaned so there was a lot of short dark hair. The room was at the end of the floor so it was really calm. Nice shower, enough towels, toilet paper and tissues. I really enjoyed staying there. The staff was kind and helpful. The organisation with the water bottle is complicated, just put it in the room and add an information how to open it. Before the stay, I read reviews that the air conditioning is set too cold and I agree (woke up with a cold). If I should come back to Madrid, I would consider to stay in Motel One again.
Good morning, The welcome, helpfulness, and facilities were excellent, just like the other Motel Ones I've stayed at (Prague, Barcelona). However, I must point out that the shower didn't live up to expectations and the price. There were signs of mold around the shower tray, and itself was a bit worn (room 407). Regards.
Friendly and service minded staff....but no hot water/coffee machine in room and refrigiator at to high temperature

This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel. We have yet to be disappointed, the staff, the service, the rooms, all great. The location is ideal for a visit to the city, the metro and bus system are a short walk away. There are decent restaurants and bars in the area as well. Overall another great stay.
The place was great and clean but dcoked points because the AC was not very strong and the mini fridge was not cold at all. We had a few very hot days and the room stayed hot all night unfortunately.

Overall, a good stay with solid value for money. The hotel was clean, well designed, conveniently located, and the staff were welcoming. The bar was also a nice touch. The main downsides were the mattresses, which felt old and not very comfortable, the lack of basic in-room amenities such as a coffee machine or kettle, and the slow Wi-Fi. Housekeeping could also be improved, as towels and sheets were not replaced unless I specifically requested it.
Sink was not properly functioning and water pressure of the shower rather low. In addition a coffee machine would be very nice. Apart of that my stay was very decent. The location is great.
Vertrouwd Motel One hetoel beschikbaar in een voor mij nieuwe stad Madrid, parkeervoorziening in eigen garage, bescheiden qua afmeting. Prima kamers en faciliteiten, vooral de locatie is fijn , veel op loopafstand
The location is good, right next to Pl. de Espana, and the room is decent, albeit rather basic. I'm just a little annoyed that I paid extra for a king's room for me and my partner, only for my daughter, whom I only paid a standard for, to receive a free upgrade... She enjoyed her stay thoroughly because of the big bed!
Everything is good but because of there was no slippers and minibar didn't work my overall score is 8.
Ruime kamers, heerlijke grote bedden. Ruime keuze ontbijt buffet. Makkelijk aan te rijden vanaf snelweg.
The hotel is very well located, close to the Royal Palace and about 15 mins walk to Sol. The room was spotlessly clean, very comfortable bed with good quality linen. Good size bathroom with both shower and bathtub. We would be delighted to stay here again.
Fantastic state the staff were fantastic super helpful and efficient. Bar area is nice modern and comfortable our room was clean and everything we needed except a mini fridge would be nice

I was offered Room 602, a top-floor room with a terrace. If this is indeed one of the hotel's best rooms, it would be wonderful to have a kettle available so guests can prepare their own tea or coffee. Otherwise, the room was very spacious, and the bathroom was clean, modern, and well maintained.
Good hotel. I come back every year. But in the evening the surrounding (on the street) is very dirty.

I had a wonderful stay at Motel One Madrid-Plaza de España. The location is absolutely perfect for exploring the city, the rooms were modern and incredibly clean, and the staff was very welcoming. Highly recommended

Heel erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Door de stroom storing was er veel chaos in de stad en kwamen we niet naar het vliegveld. Maar het personeel legde ons zo goed en duidelijk de situatie uit, hield ons up to date van het nieuws, stelde ons gerust, en regelde zelfs een taxi. Echt zeer goede service!!!!!! Nogmaals heel erg bedankt. Het was een top verblijf met top personeel!

Ken je de stad die nooit slaapt? Vanzelfsprekend, wie kent New York niet? Ho eens even, wie heeft het hier over New York? We hebben het over Madrid. De bruisende Spaanse hoofdstad slaapt net zo weinig als de Big Apple: geheel volgens het motto "Madrid nunca duerme". De historische steegjes bruisen van 's ochtends vroeg tot 's avonds laat. Maar niet alleen de vele rustieke tapasrestaurants zijn goed gevuld. Ook in de tablaos, het culturele hart van Madrid, is veel bedrijvigheid. Geen wonder, de traditionele danszalen worden niet voor niets als de thuisbasis voor flamencoshows beschouwd. Sinds het begin van de 19e eeuw vindt er de beste Andalusische danskunst plaats: van ritmische gitaarsolo's tot aan felrode jurken en het sfeervolle klikgeluid van castagnetten. En na een lange flamencoshow in Madrid is het natuurlijk nog lang geen tijd om terug te gaan naar het hotel. Want de stad die nooit slaapt, heeft nog meer te bieden dan muziek en dans alleen. Of het nu gaat om een ontbijt op het imposante Plaza Mayor, een selfie voor het Koninklijk Paleis of een ontspannen dagje winkelen op de Gran Vía: de culturele metropool van Spanje heeft voor elk wat wils.
Madrid beschikt over een schatkist aan architectuur
De architectuur van Madrid is ongeëvenaard. Je vindt er het ene historische hoogtepunt na het andere. Wat dacht je bijvoorbeeld van een plekje in de zon? Op de Puerta del Sol straalt de Spaanse hoofdstad van alle kanten. Of je nu vanuit het noorden, zuiden, westen of oosten komt: de Poort van de Zon verwelkomt zijn bezoekers uit alle richtingen met een statige architectuur. Als dat niet de perfecte plek is voor een onvergetelijke oudejaarsavond. Want net op tijd voor de jaarwisseling wordt het charmante plein aan de legendarische Doce Uvas omgetoverd tot een klein spektakel.
Nog meer architecturale schatten liggen in de Gran Vía op je te wachten. De boulevard van Madrid kronkelt maar liefst 1300 meter door de stad. Geen wonder dat hier jaarlijks meer dan 10 miljoen bezoekers langs etalages slenteren. Het heeft zijn liefdevolle bijnaam "Madrid's reddingslijn" dus zeker verdiend.
De reddingslijn van Madrid beu? Wat dacht je van een kleine adempauze in het Parque del Retiro? Direct aan het Museo Reina Sofía nodigt het natuurlijke park je uit om wat tijd door te brengen en te ontspannen - en dat op een oppervlakte van maar liefst 1,43 vierkante kilometer. Symbool van het statige park is overigens het halvemaanvormige monument voor Alfonso XII. De voormalige Spaanse heerser troont sierlijk op zijn hoge paard.
Voetbalfans opgelet: ook voor jullie heeft Madrid een architectonisch hoogtepunt in petto. Het Estadio Santiago Bernabéu heeft de eer als thuisbasis te dienen voor de koninklijken. Maar wacht even, we hebben het natuurlijk niet over het Spaanse koningshuis. Daar wordt Real Madrid natuurlijk mee bedoeld. Of het nu zenuwslopende Champions League-wedstrijden, messcherpe competitiewedstrijden of een strijd om de Europacup is: dit beroemde grasveld heeft veel gezien. In 1964 werd Spanje er zelfs Europees kampioen op.
Over koninklijk gesproken: ook het echte koninklijk huis van Spanje is een bezoek waard. Het barokke gebouw in hartje Madrid, beter bekend als het Palacio Real, trekt bezoekers van ver. Maar niet alleen de artistiek versierde gevel van het in 1751 gebouwde kunstwerk maakt indruk. Ook van binnen is het een bezoek meer dan waard. Prachtige balzalen in Assepoester-stijl, paleiskapelletjes en spiegellabyrinten laten kinderdromen uitkomen.
