In the east of Munich, worlds meet: on one side, the venerable Maximilianeum, seat of the Bavarian parliament, towers over the city with its imposing architecture. Next to it is the golden Friedensengel (Angel of Peace), which has watched over the city since 1896 and offers a magnificent view over "Minga". The historical landmarks are embedded in the Maximiliansanlagen, which stretch directly along the banks of the Isar and serve as a central green oasis for locals and visitors alike to take a breather.

On the other hand, it is also home to the newly developed  "Werksviertel" quarter on the site of the former Pfanni factory. Creativity is the order of the day here: start-ups, studios and a container collective with a wide variety of workshops, shops and bars - adorned with colourful graffiti - convey an almost Berlin-like flair.
