Fit for a king

Our Motel One Munich-Sendlinger Tor

Sendlinger Tor is one of Munich’s three surviving city gates, dating all the way back to the 14th century. It is located in the Hackenviertel district and divides the city’s old town from its Isarvorstadt district. Our hotel is nestled at the heart of Munich, and that’s why its design revolves around a character who’s similarly close to Bavaria’s heart: Ludwig II. He’s known variously as Otto Frederick William of Wittelsbach, the King of Bavaria, or the ‘Fairytale King’, but Bavarians simply call him ‘Kini’.

All kinds of daring romantic escapades are entwined with his life’s story, and people all around the globe have long been aware of his reputation as an eccentric genius who constructed some of the world’s most beautiful castles. From Neuschwanstein to Herrenchiemsee and Linderhof, we’ve tried to ensure that our Motel One Munich-Sendlinger Tor does justice to his stunning buildings. That said, we’ve toned down his eccentricity a bit, and added a touch of extra elegance to make up for it.
