Ahoy there!

The portrait of the bearded old sailor with a pipe giving you the once-over as you check in. The wall decorated with knotted ropes. The artisan wooden bar with metal trim that calls to mind an old sea chest – when you arrive at reception at our hotel, there’s no mistaking you’re in Hamburg!

Drop anchor

The blue, green and grey colour scheme – echoed by the Freifrau chairs and Gubi ‘Beetle’ chairs – reflects the maritime location of our hotel. Chain curtains, printed with large-scale harbour scenes, are a creative take on traditional room dividers. And black and white photos provide a taste of what awaits when you head out to explore the port, which is directly opposite.

Quayside bar

The atmospheric lighting in our bar is provided by Bocci lights that resemble bubbles rising in water. There are also Ay Illuminate lights that resemble fish traps... a reminder that the fish market isn’t far from here.

Driftwood

The wooden wall cladding and the solid wood bar stools provide a natural contrast to the sea blue ceramic tiles of the bar front. The flooring here in the bar also changes from stone to something more akin to a wooden ship’s deck. If you feel it start swaying, though... it’s probably time to switch to water.

At the tiller

If you’re looking for a place to get some work done, you’re spoilt for choice in this hotel: there are three workbenches with sensational light installations, just waiting to illuminate your thoughts. ‘Bubbles’ by Roll & Hill, for example, consists of hand-blown glass ‘bubbles’ bound together with knotted rope.

Dune décor

Mementos of the old warehouse district – hessian sacks and storage jars, for example, seafaring memorabilia, ship’s lanterns and globes – provide the perfect backdrop for the sand dune-coloured Fredericia sofa and the surf-grey Fritz Hansen chairs that make our lounge such a cosy spot to shelter when Hamburg’s weather turns inclement.

Scenic lookout point

Hamburg isn’t nearly as rainy as its reputation suggests! On sunny days, you can enjoy our outdoor terrace, which looks directly onto the Herrengrabenfleet, and top up on vitamin D and fresh sea air.
