Fresh Berlin
Summer in the City

Hasenheide open-air cinema
Until the end of September, current cinema films, cult classics and indie productions flicker across the screen at dusk in the Hasenheide open-air cinema. The Hasenheide open-air cinema is a true Berlin institution: the complex in the eponymous Volkspark Hasenheide between Kreuzberg and Neukölln was built in the 1950s and is a listed building.

Open Day of the Federal Government
A unique opportunity awaits visitors to Berlin in mid-June. For the first time on a weekend (20 and 21 June 2026) , the Federal Government will take a look behind the scenes. Politically interested citizens will get a glimpse behind the scenes of the Federal Chancellery, Press and Information Office and the 14 federal ministries at the Open Day.

Long Night of the Museums
For one night at the end of August (29 August 2026), Berlin's museums will also open in the evening. Nearly 100 different museums will then lure night owls into their exhibitions, workshops or installations with just one ticket. Special bus shuttles will run to the individual destinations, and those who wish can also go museum hopping on their own by public transport or bicycle.

Pack your swimming trunks!
Fancy cooling off a little? There are numerous shady Berlin parks, boat trips on the Spree or a tour down the Landwehr Canal in a rubber dinghy or canoe. There are many different bodies of water in and around Berlin that offer refreshment. So it's also worth packing your swimwear for a city trip. The Rummelsburger Bucht near Friedrichshain, for example, is one of the most beautiful spots. You can stay dry on the restaurant ships "Alte Liebe" on the Havel in Charlottenburg or the "van Loon", which is anchored off Kreuzberg. If the river and canal aren't enough, we recommend a trip from Berlin to Wannsee.

... and then it's off to Wannsee
Famous, infamous and lots of hustle and bustle. Wannsee is in no way inferior to the capital. Historically at least, the lake has played a decisive role (keyword Wannsee Conference) and has attracted a number of exciting artists and personalities over the centuries.
Today, Wannsee is still one of the first places to go when Berliners travel to the countryside. The Berlin - Wannsee distance is only around 20 kilometres. In the summer months, Wannsee can get very busy at the weekend - but you can always find a quiet spot here. We reveal our favourite places!
Strandbad Wannsee: One of the largest open-air pools on an inland waterway in Europe - Strandbad Wannsee offers everything that bathers could wish for on over a kilometre of sandy beach.
Fairytale Peacock Island: The landscape park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can admire free-roaming peacocks alongside the palace
Liebermann Villa: The summer house of the artist Max Liebermann not only displays his paintings, but also invites you to linger in the garden and museum café
