First of all, we liked that the hotel is new, modern, spotless, and conveniently located near major shops. However, its location right next to the station bridge, where there are many homeless people, was not particularly pleasant and made the area feel somewhat unsafe, especially knowing that the hotel doors are locked after 10:00 PM. The rooms were nice, although a little small, and the building itself was extremely clean. Unfortunately, our experience at check-in was very disappointing and caused considerable frustration during our stay. When booking, we requested connecting rooms. As none were available, we were told we could have rooms on the same floor, either adjoining or very close to each other. We were traveling with our two children—an 18-year-old and a 14-year-old with Down syndrome—so having the rooms close together was particularly important to us for safety and peace of mind. We arrived early, left our luggage in storage, and reiterated the importance of this request. When we returned to check in, a very friendly young woman assisted us and explained that she had assigned us rooms 3.03 and 3.05, which she said were right next to each other. We were grateful. However, when we went upstairs, we discovered that one room was in one hallway, while the other was through a set of doors at the far end of a different hallway. We returned to reception, understandably upset and confused, as this was not what we had been told. We were informed that there were no other rooms available on that floor. However, when we went back upstairs, we saw that room 3.02—directly across from our children’s room—was open, empty, and being cleaned (photo attached). We also confirmed with the person cleaning the room that it was vacant. My husband went back downstairs to ask if we could be moved to room 3.02. Not only was our request refused, but when he expressed his frustration and pointed out that the situation resulted from the hotel’s handling of our request, a staff member wearing glasses at reception shouted that it was not her fault. She then pointed toward the door and told us that if we did not like it, we could leave. We travel frequently as a family and have never experienced this kind of treatment at a hotel. We are not people who look for arguments or confrontation, so we were genuinely shocked by this response. Rather than allowing the situation to ruin the two days we had in the city, we decided to leave the matter there and go sightseeing. In retrospect, perhaps we should have asked to speak to a supervisor immediately, but we did not want to spend our first day arguing at the hotel. Nevertheless, the incident undoubtedly cast a negative shadow over our stay. In addition to being a frequent traveler, I am a lawyer by profession and spent 10 years working for a Spanish five-star hotel chain. We always believed that when a guest has a problem or is dissatisfied, the best time to raise the issue is during their stay, giving the hotel an opportunity to resolve it, rather than waiting until check-out or posting a review afterward. That is exactly what we tried to do. We went to reception twice, explained the situation, and gave the hotel the opportunity to rectify it. Unfortunately, the outcome was quite the opposite. I hope this feedback is taken constructively and helps improve staff training so that other guests do not experience similar treatment in the future. Sincerely, Valentina Omoldi and Rodolfo Pizarro
Lovely healthy breakfast with lots of fruit and decent coffee. Comfy quiet room. Close to the train station
Lovely hitel, great room, friendly helpful staff
I love this hotel. The staff are helpful and kind.
I had a lovely stay at Motel One in Glasgow. After confirming on the phone a few days prior to my visit, the manager gave me a room upgrade for 'making them laugh' on the phone. Everybody was courteous and the room was tidy. Location next to the train station was ideal for my visit.
Basic room with no Veiw. But we just used it to sleep in so we're not bothered. Staff at reception brilliant and helpful. Bar staff lovely to.
Would have liked a Scottish breakfast, better coffee. Boiled egg n toast was sufficient. Lift to toilet was a bit strange especially after fresh orange juice. Sorry no draught lager. Shower too low.
We stayed here for two nights recently. Overall a pleasant experience. Good things: - Prices and location are good - Breakfast has vegan options and oatmilk - Room was very clean - bathroom is nice yet small Not so great things: - Rooms are way too small (not being able to walk past each other because of a lack of space is kinda a sign that the rooms were designed as too small) - the advertised queen/king bed is just 2 mattresses put together, but they give you one large duvet. If it is actually 2 beds I would like 2 blankets. My partner was on the edge of her mattress and for me to get some of the duvet I had to sleep in the ditch between the 2 mattresses. - pillows are uncomfortable (too large and fluffy) - Cleanliness in the public areas was sub standard (the bathrooms in the mezzanine level were dirty every day with full paper bins and paper towels in the sink and on the floors) - no keycard required to access the lifts which is not ok for a inner city hotel like this - breakfast area is way too small for the size of the hotel, every morning it was a pain to find a place to sit I wouldn’t stay here again due to the tiny rooms (I know they have an option for bigger rooms, but that seems unreasonable to me). Best thing was the breakfast.
You have to improve cleaning of the room
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay
Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, good breakfast and very near to the train station.
Enjoyed our stay but dissappointed that tv didn't work correctly on first night. Also you ran out of strawberry jam at breakfast.Reception explained that tv signal wasn't good because of the position of the hotel.?????????
Great place. I like staying here. Really friendly efficient team & overall excellent value. Only thing I'd say if I was nit picking ; you could dramatically improve the quality of your wine offering across the board while still keeping it affordable for guests & cheap for you to purchase wholesale. This is the only reason I went out & didn't spend money in the hotel bar.
Everything was in order, the hotel was clean and in a good location
Friendly welcome as usual. Clean, comfy room... bottle of water was very welcome.
Creepy rooms , creepy staff , creepy everything never gonna come in this one and will suggest others also to not to
Excellent situation and welcome. I always use this hotel- that says it all .
Great place to stay. Room clean, comfortable and quiet. Comfy bed. Friendly and helpful staff. Great central location.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Staff was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Breakfast was great with many options.
My third time staying at Motel One: Fast and effective check in, with friendly staff. Friendly bar staff also, with a pleasant ambience Easy entry after a late night in town I'd stay here yet again in the future. A fire alarm sounder went off on the Saturday morning, but stopped after a couple of minutes with thankfully no evacuation procedure required although no explanation, causing uncertainty in first instance.
Excellent service from Patricia on the front desk!
We use this hotel very regularly!!
Great location clean rooms and quiet atmosphere
The hotel is very clean and well maintained with good location, but a good hotel needs basic amenities that were not available..no slippers , even the toothpaste n brush etc not provided, no bin. In case of any help there is no intercom facility to call reception..lift was not working for a brief period of time. Staff cluelesssl about certain questions asked on booking and parking
Friendly and helpful desk staff. Quiet and comfortable room. Excellent location.
Excellent value for money at £90 - premier inn wanted £270! Friendly staff and comfy beds, would recommend
Great hotel as always, ideal location, friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms and comfy beds. Just a 9 because the TV didn't work.
What’s the point of checking in online -apart from paying- & downloading the check-in to my wallet? I show this on arrival only to be questioned when did I book as they can’t find my reservation. Because I’ve paid and it is now on another screen! What’s the point? That’s twice that has happened. Let’s test it again this week. It’s not your people- it’s your systems.
Staff excellent Helpful The only drawback was the roadworks outside with noise early morning right through the day
Excellent value for money. Hotel and room were very clean. Room size was good. Bed was very comfortable. Shower was cery good.
The standard is very high. Glasgow at its best. The morning breakfast staff are wonderful and the front desk staff very helpful and professional.
Absolutely fantastic stay! Clean room with a nice big window view! Would definitely return 😊
The room was really nice and exceptionally clean. The bed was comfy and I really appreciated the wide choice of pillows.
I've stayed here several time before. Staff always friendly, location great, room clean, bed fresh, and breakfast is always fully stocked and tasty.
The location is perfectly situated next to the train station in the heart of Glasgow. The room was clean with plenty of space and a great view of the city. The only issue with the room was a very squeaky bathroom door. Breakfast included many options for all types of appetites and dietary issues. I would recommend Motel One Glasgow to any traveler.
Great stay, comfortable bed and powerful shower. Staff all very helpful. Thank you
Lovely staff. Comfortable clean rooms..tea and coffee....30secs from railway entrance. Hallway doors a bit bangy but not the worst I've experienced.
Stay every week, good, solid, clean hotel and staff are great
This was an excellent location for our 1 night stay. I feel like it is very overpriced for the size of the room &lack of amenities & fridge. Staff were very pleasant & I assume if we stayed outside of Comm games dates the price would probably be more reasonable.
An excellent clean hotel in a super location.
It was my first time in a Motel One and I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel and facilities. I'd certainly stay in one again. My only suggestion would be to have a fridge in the room eg for milk
Absolutely a pleasure
We really enjoyed the entire experience: outstanding location, fun lobby scene, comfotsble/smartly appointed room, friendly staff at reception and at the bar.
Very central, clean and check in and out was smooth
Clean and great location.
The hotel and staff were appropriate for a £100 per night stay however we were charged £400 per night via booking.com due to Commonwealth Games. Total rip off!
Excellent bar and lounge area, always nice to have somewhere to relax without having to sit in your room. Friendly service, great view from our window, fab location right in Glasgow city centre
Very comfortable bed, great shower, room spotlessly clean. Reception and bar staff were really helpful. We didn’t have breakfast but the free coffee in the bar area was a great as we were in a bit of a rush. They serve a great martini in the bar. Perfect location only few steps from the mainline station and subway, with bars/restaurants close by and a short walk to the shops. I will stay again despite fire alarm at 5.30 am😂
I would have given a higher score, except that I was assigned a single bed. Two singles in the room were pushed together, but in reality you can only sleep in one. It was like sleeping in student accommodations or a caravan. I am 78 years old; the last time I slept in a single bed was in 1963 when I was fifteen. I went to the reception and requested a room with a double bed, but they didn’t seem to check if any were available. This was shortly after I checked in, and I was asked which floor I preferred, indicating that other rooms were likely available. I was instructed to return the following day before 11 am, but I had a memorial service to attend and didn't have time. So, the result was that I paid £700 for two nights to sleep in a single bed, or what counts as sleep.
Really nice hotel and we enjoyed our stay very much. Friendly staff all around the hotel. The standard of cleanliness was excellent and the fixtures and fittings were of a great standard.

Six reasons why you need to visit Glasgow
Evergreen
The name Glasgow comes from Gaelic and means ‘dear green place’ – more than 90 , such as Pollock Country Park and Kelvingrove Park, are open to the public and are perfect for taking a walk or simply relaxing.
Active
There’s something on offer every day of the year here, from festivals to football matches, art-house cinema to comedy clubs. The music scene in particular is second to none, no matter whether you’re into jazz, hip hop, electro or classical. Designated by UNESCO as a City of Music, it’s not for nothing that Glasgow is home to one of the world’s most sold-out concert locations (), which hosts a constant stream of superstars. You can also discover up-and-coming musicians in bars such as or . And you can find the Scottish Opera, the National Ballet and the National Theatre here – not to mention the World Pipe Band Championships, which involve nothing less than the world championship title for bagpipes!
Wonderful(ly cheap)
The city has more than 20 museums and galleries, as well as numerous other sights, many of which have free admission – such as the , which contains one of Europe’s largest art collections, the , Glasgow’s and the .
Varied
From in a Gothic church to or in summer – Glasgow has much more than simply sightseeing to offer. is also only around 40 minutes out of the city; you can explore the national park on foot, by boat or on horseback. Gourmands can examine the production of Scotland’s national drink by visiting one of the many whisky distilleries, such as the in the middle of the city or the during a day trip out into the Highlands.
Spruced up
You might see an oversized panda just outside the front door, or an astronaut along the street: Glasgow has transformed into a real mecca for street art. You can discover some of the best artworks by taking a walk along the .
Appetising
Finnieston, in the west of the city, is Glasgow’s designated foodie district. There’s something to suit every taste, from young and cool locations to award-winning gourmet restaurants. By the way, Glasgow is also the UK’s most vegan-friendly city! It’s also got a thriving bar scene: things are no longer simply all about the (still delicious) whisky. Independent breweries have helped to establish craft beers, while juniper fans can look forward to specialised gin bars such as .

A journey studded with design
We have packed everything we need for the styling concept of our Motel One Glasgow: Get on board and enjoy the ride!

Art with heart
The art at the Motel One in Glasgow takes you on a journey through the Scottish Highlands. The photography from artist duo Scullion and Dalziel captures details and impressions of romantic, rugged nature from unusual perspectives.
Hotel Glasgow
Situated immediately next to Glasgow Central Station, our affordable design hotel is dedicated to railway romance. The Motel One Glasgow combines the industrial character of train and rail technology with the special sense of adventure that accompanies a journey by train. Be inspired by the detailed artworks by Scottish photography duo Matthew Dalziel and Louise Scullion and take an exciting trip through the history of trains.
Our employees are busy operating the switches behind the reception to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Wireflow lights by Vibia are reminiscent of the shape of tracks and railroad switches. Our One Lounge is also electrifying: the Spectre design suspended luminaires by Quasar create a visual reference to high-voltage power cables, and you can read the timetable for the Central Station on an infoscreen mounted on the stone wall. If you’d like to experience an antique train compartment for yourself, take a seat on the quilted benches.
Shelves and tables transport you to Glasgow’s industrial past with high-quality brass fittings, while Aldo Bernardi wall lamps round off the design concept. The bar takes a more rustic approach: enjoy a view of Dalziel and Scullion’s amazing photography as you sit at the genuine wooden counter and channel the excitement of travelling by train.
Whether you visit us by train, plane or car, you can take advantage of the same comfortable box-spring beds, extensive breakfast buffet and free WiFi in our affordable design hotel that you have come to expect from Motel One. Situated immediately next to Glasgow Central Station, the hotel is not only highly accessible by public transport, it is also the ideal starting point for exploring sights like the Gallery of Modern Art, City Chambers and Glasgow Cathedral. Full steam ahead!
