As usual we had a lovely stay This is the best hotel we stay in friendly professional staff and so clean throughout

Always enjoy staying at this Hotel however the choice to put plastic cups in the rooms instead of proper mugs is questionable.
Estuvimos muy cómodos, la habitación estaba muy bien y todo era muy bonito y la habitación tenía una vista espectacular a Cockburn street. Si tuviera que mejorar algo, sería que las televisiones de las habitaciones fueran un poco más modernas porque se pillaba muy frecuentemente. Definitivamente repetiremos en este maravilloso hotel
I have written a lengthy email to the hotel about noise between rooms and the poor sleep I had as a result and received no response to my email. The sound proofing between the room we were in and next door was inadequate

Lovely room with a view. Reception and bar staff were lovely and we were able to check in early. Great location, second time we have stayed and will be back.
The room was clean, had a modern feel and included all the things I'd need for my stay. Quiet room with a comfy bed. The hotel is friendly and welcoming, with a great bar! Located in a perfect location it's my go to place in Edinburgh! Having stayed in other Motel One hotels, I'd recommend them.
Extremely friendly staff and excellent location
What a fabulous find in the heart of Edinburgh. Close to all amenities, the old and new city, Waverley station and a host of city centre restaurants. Spotlessly clean, comfortable, quiet and extremely helpful staff. Highly recommend

La stanza 206 è sul retro del palazzo e siamo stati più volte disturbati dal rumore di bottiglie gettate nel bidone rifiuti. Mancava privacy.
Heel erg centraal gelegen hotel, upgrade gekregen naar een kamer met uitzicht, heel fijn! Vriendelijke mensen bij de balie en in de bediening. Schoon. Sfeervol. Gezellige lobby, alhoewel minder geschikt voor het ontbijt. Echte eettafels met stoelen zou fijner zijn. Het ontbijt is verder prima!

Love Motel One brand. Have stayed in both Edinburgh properties. Both locations are amazing. This Old Town location is atmospheric and convenient. Beds are comfortable. Excellent well priced cocktails in the bar! Only real issue was our room was far too hot for sleeping in and bathroom was a bit cramped. We appreciated early check in 2pm.

Good position, good staff, confortable and clean room, good breackfast
The floor of the room above us was very loud, when they were walking around every step was loud and very creaky it sounded like the floor would give way. It actively woke us up during the night/in the morning which was really frustrating.
Room extremely clean and bathroom. Bed realy comfortable. Reception area extremely cold as we sat there for a drink. Reception are whetr guestd near front door sooo cold. Needs more heat. We had a drink there but could not stick the cold.
Schönes zentral gelegenes Hotel. Freundliches Personal, saubere Zimmer. Das Zimmer hatte eine schöne Größe.

Le seul point négatif est le ménage qui n'est pas correctement fait, poils sur les draps de lit à l'arrivée, poussière dans les coins. Sinon la localisation était parfaite le personnel sympathique et les lieux jolis.

Great location and good vibes in the lounge.
Really excellent user-friendly experience. Efficient but in a relaxed and friendly way. Breakfast buffet was about the best I've seen in any price-range - it actually felt that someone had cared about what was presented, with self-service making the experience easy and relaxed. Not sure how accessible the premises are for wheelchairs but perhaps there was an entrance way/exit I wasn't aware of. I wonder if anything could be devised to prevent the extremely draughty and wide-opening automatic doors opening straight into the bar/breakfast area as this makes this area much cooler and less comfortable than further into the space. I noticed quite a few people still in outer-wear when sitting in this area of the bar.
Amazing experience, I was upgraded to a classic double room with a view. Perfect location, I think it is in the middle of all the tourist spots. Everytime I am tired, I always drop by to my hotel to have some rest. I just don’t like the smell of the room.
Me hospedé con mi pareja durante cuatro noches en el motel one Royal, la ubicación es excelente. La habitación es correcta, quizás faltaba un armario. La calefacción en general, para mi gusto en el lavabo se estaba bien, pero en la habitación quizás hubiese subido la temperatura. La caja fuerte no funcionaba. Había enchufes usb y tipo c como en España. Había hervidor de agua para hacerte infusión o café y también te dejaban unas bebidas de cortesía. También daban un agua de cortesía en el bar el día que entrabas y también te guardan la maleta si tu vuelo sale muy tarde.
Perfecta ubicación. Buenas opciones veganas para el desayuno, pero podría mejorar. Personal extremadamente amable. Habitación fría y el aire caliente no funciona.

La cama realmente cómoda, maravillosos detalles como el té de bienvenida o la hoguera en la televisión al entrar en la habitación… el personal de recepción y de la zona de bar era muy amable. El desayuno estaba bueno. Y la ubicación inmejorable! Cuando vuelva a Edimburgo repetiré sin dudarlo!
A few issues this time with my stay. Lounge bar freezing which meant spent not much time in it. Worse complaint being uht milk for coffee in room 3 month out of date. I complained the first morning and when topped up yet another sachet out of date Dec 2025! Complained again to same member of staff who could not apologise enough. As a gesture we received a complimentary drink. Very thoughtful although lounge bar still freezing!!
Friendly, welcoming staff at reception. Cosy room, very comfortable bed, lovely squashy pillows. The only thing I would change is to have a larger bath towel. The largest sized towels available are the kind I use to wrap my hair in after a shower which I consider to be small!
The experiance was very good. I would say that there were a couple of minor points, the water pressure on the shower, the towel hangers on the bathroom doors and the breakfast could be a little more British.
Thank you very much for everything. But one more thing:We would have liked to see different types of eggs and of course, olives at breakfast☺️
Perfekter Ausgangspunkt für die Erkundung von Edinburgh. Staff super freundlich - wie wir es von Motel One kennen. Zimmer und Bad in gewohnter Qualität ... einzig ... der Fernseher war nicht zu bedienen (es half nur, den Stecker zu ziehen), im Bad ging die Lüftung nicht, die Heizung war entweder aus oder auf Volldampf ...
Dear Customer Service Motel One, We are regular customers of the Motel One chain and members of the loyalty program. We have stayed several times at your facilities, the last time in November at Motel One Manchester, as well as previous positive experiences in Nuremberg and Frankfurt. Precisely for this reason what happened during our recent stay at Motel One Royal Edinburgh left us extremely disappointed. We assume that the structure is centrally located and is well renovated, however the overall experience was the worst ever experienced with Motel One. When booking we had expressly requested a room on a high floor with a view of the city, specifying that the stay was for our wedding anniversary. Despite this, we were assigned a room for the disabled on the 6th floor (presumably no. 618), without any view and completely inadequate to our request. To our request for a room change, the receptionist Maria responded in an unprofessional way, stating that it was not possible to make any changes and even suggesting that we look for another hotel, ensuring a possible refund. An attitude that we consider unacceptable and totally not in line with Motel One standards. Only after further insistence, another receptionist showed us as the only alternative a room on the 5th floor (n. 525), also without a view of the city. At no time was any reference made to our wedding anniversary, nor have we received an apology for the inconvenience caused. To further make the situation worse, the assigned room had obvious maintenance problems (as documented by the attached photos): • Bathroom ventilation system not working • Strong smell of sewer • Clogged sink • Ceiling with numerous visible holes We reiterate that the overall experience and especially the treatment received by the staff do not correspond in the least to what we expect from Motel One, considering our previous positive experiences in other cities. We trust that this complaint will be taken seriously and that concrete measures will be taken to prevent similar situations from happening again, especially with regard to regular customers and members of your loyalty program. Our overall stay was fine. The primary reason we chose Motel One was its close proximity to the rail station (which it was). The lobby and bar area were beautiful; very warm and inviting. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The room itself was probably the downside to our stay. It was very sparsely appointed and had no thermostat with which to have some control over the temperature. We would have opened our windows, but they were wired with an alarm, so that wasn't an option. The room was warm and stagnant with no air circulation. Another item was no mini refrigerator in the room. We even asked if there was a room upgrade that we could get, but were told this was not an option at Motel One. Again, the location was great, but the room itself was lacking. We would recommend the hotel, but with reservations.

Not long back from my stay. Room was upgraded on the hotel which gave us a room with a beautiful view. The hotel is beautiful and very close to Waverley station. Could not fault anything with the service or room even though our A/C was a little broken on our second night. Staff were helpful and friendly and was even a surprise to find out in the Scottish weather, there are umbrellas you can borrow from reception. Had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday. Will stay here again next visit
