Hotel staff is professional and curtious Hotel is operated with good team
There was no telephone in room to contact reception.
Excellent location, just steps from the Royal Mile, and the hotel staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. I do have one suggestion. Why are the reception staff required to stand all day? They were professional, cheerful, and doing everything they could to make guests feel welcome. It seems unnecessary to expect them to remain on their feet for an entire shift. Please consider giving your reception team the option of sitting when appropriate. It would be a small change that could make a big difference to the comfort and well-being of such dedicated employees. Happy staff help create happy guests.
Overall a good experience. There were some hot water / pressure issues and on each occasion the room was serviced, we had to go and find a second towel or mugs / spoons had gone missing. Irritating but didn't marr our otherwise pleasant stay.
Superb
Excellant location, very comfortable rooms, helpful and kind staff, great breakfast.
Hotel was very nice. It was difficult to push the door open. T.V difficult. I like a more simple system to access. One staff member (I wish I could remember her name) was very helpful and went the extra mile One of the others was tired. The rest were helpful
All was good, hotel is really nice, breakfast is varied and abundant, cleanliness is adequate
The room 664 was nice, cozy and spacious. We just loved it. If only there had been a fridge It would have been perfect. The breakfast was really rich. After eating it, we had power to walk for miles around the city. Your motel is fabulous.
Very kind and fast reception (with online option), baggage storage was a good advantage, room was clean and well designed. There were only two disadvantages (bathroom lock didn't work and there was barely sunlight getting through the window)
We loved our stay! The staff was very welcoming and the accomodations were great. Location was fantastic.
always a nice stay
Excellent hotel with great staff, wonderful breakfasts, great location, and great room. I keep coming back to Motel One, Edinburgh Princes.
Location is perfect, rooms are comfortable, staff are lovely and special thanks to the bar guys without exception. The only thing I truly missed are room slippers. The bathroom tiles are cold so I had to buy one from a store outside. I’d choose the same hotel for my next stay.
Super nice hotel! Super Nice and friendly staff. Excellent location. The only thing that I caused me rated 9 instead of 10 was the selection of the breakfast was really limited😅
Had a wonderful stay. From checking in to checking out the staff were excellent, they were friendly, professional and very helpful. This will always be my go to hotel when visiting Edinburgh.
The location wae perfect the staff excellent breakfast need some healthy shots like ginger and some fruits.. the bar with the two guys was interesting funy and very sociable…the room was quite very clean and nice. The only thing required is a closet .. i ve stayed in some motel one in glasgow in brusells in london … perfect!!! See you again
The staff were great, reception area is gorgeous but the room was a let down. Worst hotel bed I’ve ever slept in and I’ve stayed in everything from hostels to 5 star, I barely slept a wink in my three nights. The mattress was like a brick and there were no pillows only these lumpy odd shaped cushions that were made of cut up foam pieces. The room really had less basic facilities than your standard 2 or 3 star budget chain hotel has, which generally I’d look past but the bed and pillows was the sticking point.
Very good location. Comfortable rooms, very clean. Breakfast with good choice, and excellent coffee. Staff is friendly, efficient. Our rooms where already available at our (early) arrival.
Staff were friendly, professional and did a good job. Parking needs to be made clearer for new/first time guests.
Located steps from the train station with access to taxis and a short walk to Princes Street and to the Royal Mile, Motel One Royal was convenient and comfortable and friendly
Generally nice and clean hotel with a good location. Extremely expensive, like everywhere else at this time of year. Very disappointed to have paid extra for a city view, but looked straight into some trees. A room further east in the building would have given a much better view. Tried and let them know, but it didn't help much. Good breakfast, but no eggs and bacon. I was aware of this. Cold bathroom and low pressure in the shower.
All in all, decent stay. Staff helpful and friendly, hotel is well presented and represented. Clean throughout. Somewhat disappointed to have been charged for a breakfast that wasn't asked for, or consumed. I only noted this today, when I checked my inbox but point of learning for myself would be to confirm no charges on checkout. No food options in the bar was slightly frustrating, but a short walk outside of course, there are plenty of options, though not quite the ideal when travelling on business, and working from the lounge. Value for money - the rate was steep, granted a concert was on nearby.
Super experience with check-in and check-out. The desk workers were very friendly and helpful. The beds and pillows were comfortable, and the bathroom was very nice (apparently recently remodeled). If staying here, be prepared to live out of your suitcase since there is no furniture for stashing clothing. The security safe was broken and inoperable.
The hotel was very much what we wanted, well located and so far as we could see well run. The rooms were clean and well kept and the staff efficient, friendly and ready to help. A particular thank you for the member of reception staff who, after the housekeeping staff had gone off duty, helped us when we spilt a cup of tea on the edge of the bed.
The room was spacious. A second chair or a small set of drawers would make it better. The lighting was a bit harsh. Some warm light, like a floor lamp with a shade might make it better.
We have stayed in Motel One’s before but this one is by far the best. The room was similar to others we’ve had, size, facilities etc . We had a city view, looking over the station ( it’s directly across the road from Waverley, so very handy). The main difference was the staff. Every member wherever they were, went above and beyond, especially the breakfast staff. Thank you
We had an enjoyable two-night stay. Concierge was able to hang onto our luggage prior to check in and when the time came it was easy & quick. The location was great for walking anywhere and was still quiet in the evenings. The room was spacious and lovely with a fun view on the corner. The only bad thing I could say is the constant smokers at the entrance. We did not eat the breakfast as we found more inexpensive options within walking distance, but we would definitely stay here again!
Excellent location. Staff were very helpful. We are elderly and for us the only drawback is stairs from the street to the reception area. A staff member did help us with our bags and so it was not an issue but it is a vey slight inconvenience.
Hygiene and Cleanliness was to a very high standard Staff were so professional and helpful We will be back sometime again
The facility was extremely well kept and inviting, the staff was helpful! The room was the perfect size, with a lot of spaces for storage, and the air conditioning was wonderful. The location was unbeatable being so close to everything in Edinburgh. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Absolutely wonderful location and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was wonderful and plenty of selection. We had a problem with our room. On the top floor and the weather was unusually hot. Air conditioning was not working and the room was unbearably hot. The front desk did offer the only other room that was available and it was even worse - again air conditioning was broken and it was a known issue. We did get a floor fan that made it a little more bearable but our stay was a little unpleasant because of this. We are elderly - in our 80’s - and so the heat in the room was a huge issue for us. The door key card took about 15 goes before we could get into the room and again we were told that “the software was being updated/changed and was being fixed” Apart from these issues which we realise the staff could not change for us, we would definitely recommend this hotel.
We have stayed at Motel One, Princes Street the past two years on visits to Edinburgh. The hotel is ideally situated in the hub of the city across from Waverly Station, on Princes Street. Located on the Georgian, New Town side of the central city. It is located close to many of the city's most desirable features, and in easy reach of the Old Town. The hotel operation itself is first rate. It is very affordable for its location in Edinburgh. That said, you don't feel that you're staying in a budget hotel. Everything in the hotel's design is very stylish, modern, and efficient. I will always look to this Motel One property for room availability when traveling to Edinburgh. In fact, I will certainly seek out other Motel One properties when traveling about Europe.
Clean friendly and helpful. Great location and very quiet. Highly recommended.
Great location and nice, clean rooms. Our room was on the 1st floor, and it was pretty miserable not being able to open the windows because the AC did not work well. We received one bottle of water on arrival, but they wouldn't give any more after that. Every other hotel during our visit offered as much water as needed. Breakfast was pretty mediocre, nothing hot. It was overall a decent value, just not really any extras.
The room was fine. The bed was comfortable and the space was adequate. The shower was good although the shower pressure could have been stronger — a minor point. The lobby was comfortable and inviting. It was great that they offered food and drink for a price throughout the day — a welcome respite from all the crowds. I would definitely stay here again.
The motel is situated excellently for shopping in Edinburgh.
Great hotel in a convenient location. Hotel staff are very accommodating!
Amazing staff very helpful and friendly. Great location. Only negative is breakfast. Not enough seating for everyone. Staff did their best but very busy hotel and difficult to seat everyone. Excellent selection at breakfast but not a pleasant experience.

The most convenient location in Edinburgh! We arrived at Edinburgh airport, jumped on the Airlink Bus, and the last bus stop at Waverley Bridge is so close to the hotel it's easy to get you and your luggage there quickly. The hotel offers to hold luggage if the room isn't ready which is very convenient. Our room had the most picturesque view of Cockburn Street; there was some noise but it was very quiet overnight and early morning. We didn't have the in-house breakfast option, but it looked very popular and starts much earlier than most local cafes and coffee shops. Very friendly check-in crew. The hotel is not air conditioned, but the ability to open a window did help a lot at night in the July heat. This hotel is a great budget option in what can be a very expensive city. This is the second time I've stayed in this location of Motel One Edinburgh-Royal and I will book in the future if I return.
Poor room very dark - lighting terrible. No water glasses. Breakfast chaos no where to sit. Tables too low.
I enjoyed one night in Edinburgh, the room was clean and had all I needed, the staff was friendly and very helpful, the bar and snack are available till late and I could leave my bags in a safe space to collect later which was extremely helpful. Definitely recommend this hotel.
Friendly and a good location
Stayed here several times now. Location can’t be beaten. Just such a brilliant location to walk to anywhere in the city. Rooms are quite basic but all you need for a city break. Very clean. Bar area clean & welcoming. Can’t comment on breakfast as have never had breakfast at the hotel. Staff are very friendly & helpful. Love this hotel.
From arrival to departure eveything was great. I was allowed in before 3pm and got a very welcome upgrade. Thank you.
Hotel czysty, dostępny, załoga przesympatyczna i pomocna. Jedna propozycja.
Bardzo ładny hotel w samym centrum super lokalizacja, przyjemne wnętrza, ciekawa stylizacja, duży pokój, pyszne śniadania. Widok na zabytkowa ulice miasta.

Motel One Edynburg – niedrogi designerski nocleg w stolicy Szkocji
Edynburg: Stolica Szkocji
Motel One ma w Edynburgu aż dwie lokalizacje. Zapraszamy Cię do dwóch modnych hoteli w samym centrum z oryginalnym wyposażeniem, miłą obsługą i bezpłatną siecią Wi-Fi.
Niedrogie designerskie hotele w Edynburgu – Twój Motel One
Liczący prawie pół miliona mieszkańców Edynburg na tle innych stolic europejskich można określić jako mały i przytulny. Z naszych designerskich hoteli w centrum miasta do niemal wszystkich zabytków dotrzesz podczas krótkiego spaceru.
Podczas gdy Royal Mile z klasycystycznymi budynkami i wspaniałymi kolumnami przywodzi na myśl bogatą historię Edynburga, New Town z geometrycznymi ulicami ucieleśnia skrupulatnie zaplanowany rozwój urbanistyczny miasta w XVIII wieku.
Z jednego z naszych dwóch hoteli w kilka minut możesz dotrzeć do brukowanej Royal Mile, ulicy łączącej edynburski zamek z pałacem Holyrood.
Zamek w Edynburgu, muzeum iluzji Camera Obscura i park Princes Street Gardens
