Mediocre experience this time - after two times of very good experience.
Great location and helpful staff, but rooms lacked space, pillows, and we were not allowed to sit in the lobby with snacks.
HI Motel one, the hotel Washington very good and in a special place in Basilea. The only problem is for my family the carpet (moquette) in the room....for allergie... All the rest Washington perfetc!

Location is perfect, stuff are so friendly I can't describe, rooms are clean. For me definitely place to stay for my next Basel visit. 10/10 in every possible way.
Your staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel's situation was very convenient for our tourist travel purposes. I cannot assess the lounge or bar because we did not make use of them. A small fridge and a kettle would be useful additions to the room.

Good location. Basic but practical
Motel was neat and clean. Staff was multi-lingual, friendly, helpful and professional. Served a nice European breakfast so do not expect American fried eggs, bacon, waffles, toast, etc. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

Good value for money, but a couple of things to add would make it a 10: - The air conditioning wasn’t low enough, I was hot in the room and couldn’t make it cooler - a mini fridge. I would have liked to keep a drink cool overnight. Had to keep going down to bar to ask for ice. The receptionist on my checkout day was lovely (I didn’t get her name). I had to make a call to London to contact my airline but i didn’t have a SIM on my phone to call and since there are no public phones anymore, she allowed me to call the airline from reception, which I was so grateful for. The lady at the bar was wonderful and was never an issue to keep topping up my glass with ice. I would stay again, just would love to have a fridge next time and to be able to cool the room more.
The hotel was quite unique and appealing in appearance and the staff was very welcoming and helpful. We had the buffet breakfast one morning and the selection and quantity was very good. Our room was basic but very comfy. Would stay there again or at other locations

Had a lovely stay at Motel One Basel. The room was very comfortable (as was the Aircon, outdoor temperature was 37c!). Nicole at the front desk was very cheerful and helpful, telling us about the Suisse National Day celebrations about the city. The location was perfect, near busses, trams, good restaurants and bars.

We were very pleased we chose to stay at Motel One in Basel with its very convenient central location, modern decor and friendly and helpful staff. The room was comfortably furnished, the bathroom fittings high end and the cleaning service was excellent.
Zeer goed - ruime kamer - zeer proper - vriendelijk onthaal en meedenkend Ontbijt goed maar klein en beperkt Verduistering kamer (dak) niet aanwezig om zelf te bedienen. idem airco (room 528)

Fabulous staff, great location. Lovely bar area, rooms and excellent breakfast. I struggled to find my way back to the reception from my room but that's not unusual and says more about me than the hotel :)
For the past five years, your hotel has been my number one choice whenever I stay in Basel. The location is simply perfect, and everything about the hotel consistently exceeds my expectations—from the comfortable, clean rooms to the welcoming lobby and overall atmosphere. What truly makes this hotel exceptional is the staff. Everyone is warm, friendly, and professional. Special thanks to Nicole and Mr. Tamer at the reception, as well as Mr. Mohamed and David at the bar, for always making my stay enjoyable. A very special thank you to Mr. Tamer for his outstanding professionalism, kindness, and willingness to help. He is always happy to provide any information I need about the city, and his excellent service makes every visit even more pleasant. This time, I have been staying at the hotel since 1 July, and today is 18 July—I haven’t even checked out yet! Staying here truly feels like being at home, and that’s why I keep coming back year after year.
Convenient location, modern and clean hotel, friendly staff.
the room was cosy but I missed a table to work on it. the door of the toilet closed automatically no tent were present so I should keep the curtains closed all the time
Great location, easy to walk in Old Town. But, no air conditioning! Rooms are hot, very hard to sleep. You have to sleep with your windows open and the street noise is very loud all night long..
A fantastic hotel in a prime location. Great to have a tasty breakfast included, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The only thing stopping it being perfect was the location of my room, which overlooked the inside of the New Yorker store in the same building. This made it feel dark and somehow not private (even though there was privacy film on the appropriate part of the window). However, the room itself was comfortable, and I appreciated the provision of an excellent Dyson fan to keep it cool in the hot weather. I hope to return to Motel One Basel soon and look forward to trying out the chain's other properties.
I got stranded in Basel and ended up in Motel One. I was so suprised by the hospitality and kindness of all the staff. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly, I will definitely recommend this hotel to others!

Staff at the reception is very competent and friendly. Room small but clean and quiet. Location is excellent! Quit expensive for the tiny room, but it was Art Basel this weekend.

Net geen uitstekend voor 1 reden: geen watertap in de lobby gedurende de dag. Zeker met het warme weer was dat welkom geweest. In motel one Paris ( porte de Vincennes) was dat wel het geval
Fijne kamers, midden in het centrum. Goed werkende airconditioning, dit was geen luxe met 29 graden buiten. Prettig personeel, bar 24 uur per dag open.
Uitstekende ligging. Goede service en lekker ontbijt.

Mooie, schone, rustige en ruime kamers en heerlijke airco in een hete stad. Zeer vriendelijk personeel.
Prima hotel, relaxte sfeer, goede service en een fijne kamer.
Heel fijne ervaring. Wij verbleven er 1 nacht omdat we op doortocht waren naar Italië, maar zouden dit hotel zeker aanraden aan anderen! Wij komen ook zeker terug moesten we nog eens langer naar Bazel komen. Mooie lobby, grote propere kamer en uitgebreid ontbijtbuffet. Heel fijn dat het kinderbedje klaarstond voor ons kindje (1jaar). Heel snelle reactie gekregen op aanvraag voor kamer met kinderbed.

Goede bedden, zeer schoon en goede ligging. Minpuntje is de douchedeur: die was open aan de onderkant zodat de vloer van de badkamer nat werd.
Prettige sfeer. Aardige mensen. Het enige dat ik jammer vond is dat het raam niet open kon, want ik houd van buitenlucht.

Wie een keer in Bazel is geweest, komt terug. En dat merken wij niet alleen in ons moderne hotel direct aan de Barfüsserplatz. Het is gewoon een vaststaand feit dat de internationale sfeer en de ongecompliceerde openhartigheid van de inwoners van Bazel elk jaar opnieuw bezoekers naar de op twee na grootste stad van Zwitserland trekt. En deze bezoekers ontvangen wij graag met open armen in onze individueel ingerichte kamers, aan onze chique maar toch nonchalante bar. En uiteraard genieten zij allemaal van de topservice zoals je van Motel One gewend bent. Ongeacht of je als toerist naar Bazel komt of voor zaken hier bent, in ons designhotel in Bazel krijg je een gezond en veelzijdig biologisch ontbijt geserveerd en geniet je van gratis wifi en een aangenaam verblijf waar je je thuis voelt. Nachtuilen ontvangen wij in al onze hotels graag aan de receptie die het klokje rond open is. En deze service is vooral voor Bazel-bezoekers zeer interessant, want het nachtleven met zijn ontspannen clubs en zijn relaxte opendeurpolitiek is een echte aanrader. Bazel ligt direct aan het drielandenpunt Zwitserland-Duitsland-Frankrijk en deze drie nationaliteiten zorgen in de stad aan de Rijn voor een bonte mix. Daarnaast heeft deze veelzijdige metropool ook als beurzencentrum en met zijn chemische-farmaceutische industrie naam gemaakt. Klassieke bezienswaardigheden zoals de Munster van Bazel, de Galerij Fondation Beyeler en de Romeinse nederzetting Augusta Raurica mogen niet ontbreken op je to-dolijstje. Echt doen!
Goodkope designhotels in Bazel - jouw Motel One
Bazel is een stad waar kunst, traditie en internationale ingesteldheid centraal staan. Wanneer je een weekenduitstap of een korte vakantie in de stad plant, is ons designhotel de ideale uitvalsbasis voor wie de stad wil verkennen. Direct voor het hotel ligt de Barfüsserplatz, het belangrijkste knooppunt van de stad, van waaruit je een prachtig zicht hebt op de Barfüsserkirche. Langs het plein staan historische huizen met prachtige gevels. Het plein vormt een spannend contrast met het modern-abstracte design in onze One Lounge.
Dichtbij het hotel vind je ook de Tinguely-fontein, zoals de Strawinski-fontein ook weleens wordt genoemd, en daarnaast de Kunsthalle Basel en het Zwitserse Architectuurmuseum. Houd jij van mooie kunst en architectuur? Hier worden afwisselende tentoonstellingen en evenementen georganiseerd. Wanneer je de St.-Alban-Graben volgt, ben je in enkele minuten bij het Kunstmuseum, een andere culturele topper van de stad.
De Munster van Bazel, de Rijnoever en het Rathaus, allemaal te bezichtigen aan het drielandenpunt
De Munster, het stadssymbool van Bazel, ligt direct aan de Rijn en steekt uit boven alle andere gebouwen van de stad. Onze tip: Steek de Rijn over en bekijk de Munster eens vanaf de andere kant. Met zijn rode zandsteen en gekleurde bakstenen is het gebouw van hieruit bijzonder fotogeniek. De kerk werd overigens tussen 1019 en 1500 gebouwd in de romaanse en gotische stijl.
Wandelt je verder langs de Rijn die wordt omzoomd met cafés en restaurants, kom je bij de Mittlere Rheinbrücke, de oudste brug over de Rijn in Bazel. De brug wordt beschouwd als grens tussen de Oberrhein en de Hochrhein en dateert van de 13e eeuw. Een echt contrast vormt de haven die ondertussen ook steeds meer een plekje verovert in het hart van de bezoekers. De afgelopen jaren is de haven uitgegroeid tot een ontmoetingsplaats voor de alternatieve bar- en clubscène in Bazel. En vooral in de zomermaanden leent de haven zich uitstekend voor wie houdt van slenteren, rondkijken, lekker eten en wegdromen bij de voorbijvarende schepen. En uiteraard zijn dansschoenen in deze stad een must.
