gave up a complimentary upgrade but even without that the rooms are always spotless the coffee they give you is always sooo good the staff are so incredibly friendly it’s the only hotel me and my partner ever book now
Overall a good stay but with no frills. The room had a nice view but is nothing special and you can tell the hotel already functioned like a hotel before and just underwent a light renovation. Breakfast was a joke, everyone was missing and folks were jumping on any food that would be delivered and all was gone after 2 minutes. Demand > Supply ratio was very, very bad. Brekkie is not worth the money
Pleasant stay for a good price, good location, modern room
Compared to other motel 1 we have stayed in before this one was pretty disappointing - we paid for a queen size bed it was really just 2 single beds pushed together. The bar area was nice and the staff were friendly but really don’t like when you don’t get what you paid for. It was adequate enough but not entirely pleased. For reference the general area around the hotel is also pretty rough, dirty - I know there’s nothing the hotel can do about this but feel it’s important for people to know before they book.
Great value as we paid 275£ for 2 nights.Great location.Big comfy bed and not stingy with free tea, coffee and milk in the room.Very good short stay.
The position and the decor of the hotel, especially the lobby and bar areas, is great. The rooms are compact, but with plenty of room for one to feel comfortable. The room was clean, lovely clean white linens and stylish design. I wasn't prepared for not having a little fridge (I didn't even think to look at the rooms facilities list for that), it was tricky as I was travelling with medication that really should have been refrigerated, but for three nights I chanced it, I would reconsider my options next time because of this. The staff at the front desk were always friendly, efficient and helpful. Lack of room service was also a surprise, again, that would influence my choice next time. Overall, for the comfortable, clean room close to station I think it was reasonable value, not sure I'll be booking a Motel One again though.
Lovely staff bed was extremely comfortable Would definitely book again 🙂
Ideal location, lovely lobby and bar area, friendly, courteous staff, lovely room, shower immense. Everything easy to find.
Welcome friendly staff, clean and comfortable room, always a great stay
Superb hotel, perfectly situated, welcoming reception, friendly, helpful and pleasant staff, spotlessly clean rooms (if a little on the small side), comfy bed and for once sufficient pillows! Great selection of drinks (but shame no draft beer), nice breakfast, good value for money.
A nice clean hotel. Across the road from Grand Central Station and handy to the shops.
Firstly; I think the staff do an excellent job, indeed they appeared run off their feet, though there was quite a lack of staff and this was evident in the morning, the breakfast was pretty chaotic and the staff did their best to keep up, often somewhat criticised by fellow residents due to things running out, but in fairness to the staff they seemed to be working hard just to keep up. The breakfast was chaotic and a unpleasant experience, I did not feel that I was "set up" for the day and would highly discourage anybody from choosing the breakfast option when booking with Motel One. The continental choice would have been a disappointment for anybody expecting something cooked (not me, but I think my husband would have been disappointed in a £13.50 breakfast that was so lacking). I was basically "elbowed" out of the way by hotel residents, many spoke no English hence they did not understand when I tried to explain why the bread was not coming out of the toaster (it was all backed up behind it). The small breakfast area and the sheer volume of people trying to "bun fight" for it was actually overwhelming to me as a disabled person. I struggled to find a table, the tables were too close together, I felt as though I was directly sharing breakfast with strangers. The breakfast buffet area over all was too small and there were not enough seats for the amount of rooms in the hotel (374?) if at capacity. I was lucky to manage to get a small bowl of cereal, one piece of toast and a small glass of juice on the three mornings, I went down at various times, went down earlier than I needed too, and there was little difference. The cornflakes and juice were cheap, they were certainly not branded. The room itself was basic though the bed was comfortable and there was plenty of space for my items. There was no noise whatsoever, I did not hear others in the corridor nor in rooms either side, it was as though I was in a soundproof room which was quite a good experience for a decent night sleep yet also somewhat unnerving, particularly when the alert alarms in this accessible room where completely hung out of reach. The curtains hid the light too and whilst there was no view, the room did the job. The shower was a good size and a good pressure though for an accessible room I found the toilet too close to the sink. The double sink was a novel idea. The accent coloured pillows on the bed were a bit rank, they smelled awful so I left a super polite note to inform housekeeping and they took them away. Otherwise there was a good choice of firm and soft bed pillows and it was a good size (queen) bed. The reception areas were plush and aesthetically pleasing, the seating was not comfortable for myself though probably quite suitable for most travellers. There were three lifts to access the upper floors though corridors to rooms were rather long and almost disorientating as they looked the same! Overall the location of the hotel was good for me as a business traveller working within that vicinity, I am not sure that I felt hugely safe in the area, as a female traveller alone, though it was always busy with people going about. I would stay here again though I would consider breakfast at McDonalds or at Weatherspoons which were both very close by.
Nice hotel Lovely reception bar area Nice breakfast - simple. Could do with someone in breakfast area cleaning tables as after 8am it’s very busy and tables not being cleared
We had a lovely stay at the Glasgow Hotel, the staff were friendly and so helpful with our check in. The room was very comfortable, modern and clean. Will stay her and with Motel one again.
Great location, easy check-in and check-out. Friend,y and competent staff. Felt safe.
Great rooms Helpful staff Nice bar
Really enjoyed our stay in Glasgow. When I spoke to one of the receptionist ( unfortunately forgot her name)before we arrived to ask to change our room from a double to a twin, she couldn’t have been more pleasant and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
This was our 6th time staying at a Motel One and every stay has been wonderful. The staff is always lovely, the rooms and comfortable and clean, and the bar is tops.
Perfect visit - the only reservation is that more storage space for clothes would be helpful
I was very surprised at how nice this hotel was considering how reasonably priced it was. Room was lovely, soundproofing was great and the bed was very comfy.
From check in to departure we enjoyed our stay. The sheep in the reception/bar area were a hit...said Hi to them every day! And the blue pear drops were amazing!
Get a refrigerator for the rooms. Bigger breakfast area please, and scrambled eggs and bacon🙈
Very central location and excellent value for money. Staff very helpful, would stay again.
Check in was quick but cheery. Confirmed what had been booked - breakfast location was pointed out, directions to lift given. Guide to breakfast "expectations" in lift was useful. Was at breakfast during one of the busier periods, staff worked hard to try and keep items replenished - perhaps the only fault (and a very very minor one at that) was there were no clean knives available which does present a little difficulty if you'd like to put butter/spread on your toast.
Really excellent value for money. Extremely convenient location for Central Station and the city centre. Stylish clean interior and pleasant and helpful staff.
Reasonable price for a city centre hotel, but expect a tiny room with uncontrollable air con, a basin with no plug and shambolic breakfast
Room was tiny, bathroom sink kept filling up. Toilet was filthy. Id say value for cost paid but I wouldn't book again at this Motel One as the room was incredibly small.
Lovely clean hotel in a fantastic location. Very pleasant and helpful staff.
Simple, easy, quick, efficient, clean, comfortable, quiet
Perfect 3day stay. Was not aware of Wi-Fi
Clean rooms comfortable beds stayed on the 9th floor so very quiet
Excellent experience as I am not one to travel felt safe in area at night and great Glasgow atmosphere
Second time we've stayed. It was crowded but the staff were great and there was plenty of seating in the lounge. Room was perhaps a little snug, but we saw very little of it as we were there to visit the Fringe in Edinburgh.
It was a great stay. Staff are nice and room was clean. Breakfast was toooo basic and items are not always available. On my second day there was no bakeries early morning .. i left 6:40 and was still no bakeries
very clean and front desk staff knowledgeable.
Excellent location. Room clean and well equipped. A bin in the room, other than bathroom might be beneficial. Room door was quite hard to make sure it was closed as was the bathroom one.
Our stay was very good. The hotel is spotlessly clean. Our room although a little small was very clean. A little parsimonious on the teabags and milk sachets in the room but able to restock at reception. Reception were always happy to fill my water bottle. Thank you.
I had a great stay!
Lovely lobby and bar area, lift felt safe, corridors clean, room was tidy, functional, a little small but had everything needed. Probably the best value hotel compared to others of a similar price bracket, would recommend and will stay again
Very friendly and helpful staff. Megan at front desk was particularly helpful as she changed bed situation to accommodate our needs very quickly
Quiet hotel, second stay here and excellent location for business travel. Room size and facilities adequate for single travellers. Only slight disappointment is breakfast- the area is too small for the size of hotel, with tables jammed up next to each other. There was only one staff member on duty during my stay, he was rushed off his feet trying to clear tables and restock the buffet foods. It made the whole experience feel a bit stressed and not an area to spend time in. Choice of foods is passable, but other hotels offer more for similar cost.
Room was excellent, clean and comfortable. Staff were professional and friendly. Points were lost because of breakfast. I would not book breakfast again. The breakfast area was too small and disorganised for the number of hotel guests. Tables had not been cleared and glasses and cutlery were missing.
Room was small, don't like carpets b/c of hygiene reasons and the shower pressure was too low. Breakfast was way too busy.
Room is too small for two people to stay more than 1 night-no space to store clothes
Scotland team were very helpful room was clean , staff were fantastic, only niggle was pillows were uncomfortable, but everything else was spot on
Hotel was well located, quiet, easy to access, and very inviting downstairs. The rooms were small but all that was needed. Badly marked signage to locate lifts and rooms; looked like a maze and entering a service entrance for rooms. My room was not clean. There was a condom wrapper on the floor, major fresh (food?) stain on the velvet bed cushion, and very dusty on the lamp by wall sockets. Felt like it hasn't been dusted for a year, so I had to wear shoes from the bed to bathroom. There was no solid reception on the TV either (and no alarm). Channels pixilated. With no phone in the room to call reception, and no alarm on the TV (after searching for 30+ minutes) I had to rely only on my phone.
Good location, nice clean room.
Great location. Staff friendly and helpful. Quiet hotel, no noise at night. Windows open, which is great! Bathroom good. Rooms nice, everything you need, (but just a few hangers so easier to live out of your suitcase). One thing I noticed was lack of security…anyone could walk by reception into lifts, no keycard needed. I think (in Glasgow, my home city and every city) there should be measures in place to prevent non residents getting past reception/bar…just an observation. This and the very weak shower took a point off - 9/10 would stay again!
Everyone was so welcoming from the check in staff to the cleaning staff, couldn’t fault it at all.
It was a good price and in a good location. Possibly the smallest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in but I’d stay here again for the price and location. We had a few issues with our sink, bathroom door, and towel bar. Next time I think I’d just ask to be moved to a different room. The staff were all very friendly.

Six reasons why you need to visit Glasgow
Evergreen
The name Glasgow comes from Gaelic and means ‘dear green place’ – more than 90 parks and gardens, such as Pollock Country Park and Kelvingrove Park, are open to the public and are perfect for taking a walk or simply relaxing.
Active
There’s something on offer every day of the year here, from festivals to football matches, art-house cinema to comedy clubs. The music scene in particular is second to none, no matter whether you’re into jazz, hip hop, electro or classical. Designated by UNESCO as a City of Music, it’s not for nothing that Glasgow is home to one of the world’s most sold-out concert locations (The OVO Hydro), which hosts a constant stream of superstars. You can also discover up-and-coming musicians in bars such as King Tut’s or Nice ‘n’ Sleazy. And you can find the Scottish Opera, the National Ballet and the National Theatre here – not to mention the World Pipe Band Championships, which involve nothing less than the world championship title for bagpipes!
Wonderful(ly cheap)
The city has more than 20 museums and galleries, as well as numerous other sights, many of which have free admission – such as the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, which contains one of Europe’s largest art collections, the Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow’s St Mungo’s Cathedral and the Botanic Gardens.
Varied
From climbing in a Gothic church to wakeboarding or winter sports in summer – Glasgow has much more than simply sightseeing to offer. Loch Lomond is also only around 40 minutes out of the city; you can explore the national park on foot, by boat or on horseback. Gourmands can examine the production of Scotland’s national drink by visiting one of the many whisky distilleries, such as the Clydeside Distillery in the middle of the city or the Glengoyne Distillery during a day trip out into the Highlands.
Spruced up
You might see an oversized panda just outside the front door, or an astronaut along the street: Glasgow has transformed into a real mecca for street art. You can discover some of the best artworks by taking a walk along the Mural Trail.
Appetising
Finnieston, in the west of the city, is Glasgow’s designated foodie district. There’s something to suit every taste, from young and cool locations to award-winning gourmet restaurants. By the way, Glasgow is also the UK’s most vegan-friendly city! It’s also got a thriving bar scene: things are no longer simply all about the (still delicious) whisky. Independent breweries have helped to establish craft beers, while juniper fans can look forward to specialised gin bars such as Gin71.

A journey studded with design
We have packed everything we need for the styling concept of our Motel One Glasgow: Get on board and enjoy the ride!

Art with heart
The art at the Motel One in Glasgow takes you on a journey through the Scottish Highlands. The photography from artist duo Scullion and Dalziel captures details and impressions of romantic, rugged nature from unusual perspectives.
Hotel Glasgow
Situated immediately next to Glasgow Central Station, our affordable design hotel is dedicated to railway romance. The Motel One Glasgow combines the industrial character of train and rail technology with the special sense of adventure that accompanies a journey by train. Be inspired by the detailed artworks by Scottish photography duo Matthew Dalziel and Louise Scullion and take an exciting trip through the history of trains.
Our employees are busy operating the switches behind the reception to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Wireflow lights by Vibia are reminiscent of the shape of tracks and railroad switches. Our One Lounge is also electrifying: the Spectre design suspended luminaires by Quasar create a visual reference to high-voltage power cables, and you can read the timetable for the Central Station on an infoscreen mounted on the stone wall. If you’d like to experience an antique train compartment for yourself, take a seat on the quilted benches.
Shelves and tables transport you to Glasgow’s industrial past with high-quality brass fittings, while Aldo Bernardi wall lamps round off the design concept. The bar takes a more rustic approach: enjoy a view of Dalziel and Scullion’s amazing photography as you sit at the genuine wooden counter and channel the excitement of travelling by train.
Whether you visit us by train, plane or car, you can take advantage of the same comfortable box-spring beds, extensive breakfast buffet and free WiFi in our affordable design hotel that you have come to expect from Motel One. Situated immediately next to Glasgow Central Station, the hotel is not only highly accessible by public transport, it is also the ideal starting point for exploring sights like the Gallery of Modern Art, City Chambers and Glasgow Cathedral. Full steam ahead!
