Rosa Kammermeier x Motel One Berlin-Potsdam
Motel One Berlin-Potsdamer Platz becomes a vibrant canvas for Berlin’s dazzling – and at times raw – club culture.
Under the motto “Light & Sound”, the interior pays tribute to the legendary Tresor Club, which is regarded as a trailblazer of Berlin’s techno scene.
But to make it feel a little cosy too, there are secluded seating areas, velvety fabrics, fringes, sparkling elements and colourful Club Vibes art on the walls – and there you have it: an exclusive private club for our guests.
5 questions for Rosa Kammermeier

What inspired you to create this artwork?
My work tells the story of this location’s rich history: around 1900, Potsdamer Platz was a bustling transport hub; in the Roaring Twenties, it was a hub of nightlife; during the war, the area was completely destroyed; and in the 1990s, the former Tresor Club opened in the middle of a wasteland.
How do you approach your work?
I always find the history of places fascinating – so during the design phase, I immersed myself deeply in the history of Potsdamer Platz.
What materials and techniques do you use?
I drew and created most of the surfaces digitally. They were then printed and installed. I painted the breakfast walls by hand.

What made you decide to take part in this project?
It was absolutely thrilling to be able to work on such a large-scale design project and to combine my illustrations with the interior design. The project took about six months to complete and is one of my biggest projects to date. It’s a great feeling to see your own work on such a grand scale!
To what extent does your work reflect the atmosphere and style of the venue?
My work was created in close collaboration with the interior designer – I was able to adapt my designs to fabric and colour samples at an early stage and get a feel for the venue’s vibe. Drawing on the venue’s history, my work has a bit of a club vibe to it.
