Adding a small, simple kettle in the room is a small thing but such an important amenity for clients.
Easy check-in and check-out. Staff was very pleasant. Took care of our requests efficiently and cheerfully. Helped us with some local directions.
Not more than you can ask for! A clean and comfortable bed, well cleaned bathroom, nice and quiet room. Friendly and service minded staff at the check-in.

Staff was very helpful. Rooms were ready when we arrived an hour before checking in which was very beneficial. Rooms/bed/bathroom were on the smaller side but the balcony was a nice touch for personal space. Tricky to have two suitcases out and opened at the same time unless you’re using the bed. Location was perfect for walking around old town and Zurich Lake. Would recommend.

We enjoyed every aspect of our stay. Check-in was easy and the staff at the desk proved helpful with all of our questions. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a great way to start the day with plenty to choose from and the bar was a welcome stop after our long days. We found this hotel to be centrally located for our visit and a short walk down to the beautiful Lake Zurich. We would definitely stay here again!
Everything perfect except that there was no heating and the room was very cold at night
The key is location followed by great value. The entire property is spotless and the staff is extremely helpful. The rooms are all done in a minimalist and modern motif.

Could not use the safe as the battery was low. Not sure why you offer take-away coffee cups when there were no coffee facilities in the room. The bottled water had a stale taste. Tap water was far better. The TV system is far too slow. Excellent bar staff!
Monica the bartender made my stay incredible. Motel One is great, the bartenders elevated the experience. Monica, Lorenzo and Pascal are why I will stay at Motel One every time I travel to Zürich from Germany for work.
As always, The standard is there. I like that I know what I am going to find. Staff are excellent. Clean rooms, etc. Only feedback is that breakfast is surprisingly poor for what it used to be. Slightly disappointing in my opinion. And of course, it was nice seeing anastasiia again. She's a charm.
I arrived early and was able to check in right away, the staff is pleasant, welcoming and attentive. Going forward as I travel Europe I will look for and motel one my first choice.
I asked for an invoice of my stay and it was not given, stating that this had been paid in advanced. Indeed that was true but with my credit card
Good stay, great location, warm welcome from employees. Price is high and I paid extra for the breakfast but no one was checking by entering the breakfast area
Scrambled eggs would have been a nice offering at the breakfast and a bottle of water in the room, otherwise nothing to complain about.
Everything was very good in the hotel except there was no facility of making tea/coffee in the room

Great 1 night stay - fast check in, nice size room on high floor with view of the courtyard, great design and vibe throughout the hotel.
Great location, the best staff, good breakfast, clean and up to date. The rooms are basic, and could really use a hot pot or coffee maker.

The whole staff is so friendly! The front desk helped us make dinner reservations multiple times. The bar staff: Monica, Lorin, and Pascal were fantastic! The breakfast was wonderful. We will stay here the next time we are in Zuo!
Good, overall. On the downside, the AC was not strong enough even at the maximum setting, and the bathroom felt surprisingly small. Also, it was unusual that there was no phone in the room to contact reception. As positive: the reception team! Everyone was super friendly and helpful! Special thanks to Max and Alex (if I got his name right). Not sure if I would come back though, maybe for a short stay, but for a longer stay the bathroom size would really bother me.
I emailed regarding breakfast and received no respinse
1. No price value - I would not pay your rates again for what is delivered. 2. Reception service and attention to help guest is not satisfactory - to casual. 3. Why is the entire reception only served by men? 4. The rooms are very clean but it reminds me of a youth hostel . Not even a glass to drink water is provided . Zero Charme and insufficient comfort . 5. The lift and walking situation from the ground floors with big luggage is awful. I had to carry my heavy luggage down the stairs because the receptionist did give me wrong instructions on a piece of paper . 6. The breakfast could be so much better with little effort. Again low service and quality for the price paid . 7. The entrance area is awful having heavy luggage - no help offered at all. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone nor return . It is ok to keep things simple but there is no heart in this place . It is “Massenabfertigung”

Another comfortable and excellent stay. As always the staff are excellent from reception, to bar, to housekeeping, to breakfast. It is always a pleasure speaking to the breakfast staff who remember me from previous visits - they are an asset to the company and it is always great to see them. Bar staff were highly attentive. I scored the room slightly lower on this occasion, this was simply because the space was so big it actually felt a little empty, like it needed something else, but was comfortable overall. I look forward to staying again with you soon.
We stayed September 3-5 ‘25. Pascal is a fabulous bartender. His knowledge of the cocktails and the huge selection of Gin’s was extraordinary. Pascal has an easygoing and comforting personality to connect with his patrons. His engaging and fun personality makes people feel connected to you brand. Pascal has a leaders mentality. Don’t loss him.

The rooms had inadequate facilities. There was no glass for drinking water merely a paper cup which wasn't even replaced in 5 days. There were no tea/coffee making facilities. There was insufficient hanging space for clothes. The room and bathroom were spacious however there was insufficient bench space in bathroom so toilet bags could not be left in bathroom. The bed was comfortable but overall the room was badly designed. The breakfast buffet was badly designed so with many people it became a chaotic mess.

I especially appreciated the supportive, responsive staff, the cleanliness, the quiet, and the windows that open to fresh air! The room was often too warm for me, and I was unable to lower the temperature. I would have appreciated a glass or a paper cup to drink water and brush my teeth. Some days we received paper cups, some days not. I would have helped sort my trash into recycle or not recycle if you had provided instructions. Thank you for your continuous quality improvement attitude!

Tiny rooms, no amenities (unless you count the two paper cups and sandpaper-like towels), drab paint, no where to put clothing or luggage.
Comfortable. Great lounge area nd outside patio. Wonderful breakfast. The front desk could have some more information at their finger tips like and easy place to eat when being jet lagged.
There was no heating. The temperature in Zurich was 12C in the morning (even if it went to 25C in the afternoon) and my room was freezing cold. The reception arranged for an extra blanket, but I was still getting out of bed in a cold room.
We stayed for an entire week in August 2025. Our stay was wonderful. The room was always very clean and comfortable. The bed is also comfortable. We didn't hear almost any street noise. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The staff was always friendly, professional and helpful.

Budget Design Hotels in Zurich – your Motel One
Even though Zurich is Switzerland’s largest city and trendsetter, visitors will find it surprisingly compact to explore. Or you may prefer to pull on the hiking boots and use Zurich simply as a base for excursions into the surrounding countryside and wealth of nearby mountains. However, there is plenty to discover within the city limits too. Our hotel is not far from Paradeplatz, a square lined with banks and luxury boutiques where the city’s prosperity is on full display.
Carrying on down Poststrasse, you can’t miss the Fraumünster Church. One of three churches in the Old Town, the Fraumünster looks back over the centuries next to the equally imposing Stadthaus.

When you’re ready to take a break from the bustle of the city, head for the shores of lovely Lake Zurich. Even though it’s right by the town (and our affordable Design Hotel too), it’s a place of leafy tranquillity. Spread out on the grass or sample the local cuisine in a lakeside café or restaurant.
The renowned Opera House is also found right by the lakeside. It houses audience of over a thousand, and has its own ballet company of 50 or so dancers. Zurich really does have something for everyone. Our Design Hotel staff can gladly advise you on what to see, whether you want to do it all, keep it minimal, concentrate on the old or focus on the new.
