A good value, well located hotel in Newcastle city centre.
Hotel was lovely and staff were great too, very helpful and polite. The rooms were basic but very clean and had everything you needed.
Lovely clean comfortable rooms and great pillows. Would really love to have had proper cups for tea/coffee and also bedside shelves. Everything else was perfect. Thank you.
We stay at this hotel twice a year we like the location and this time was offered an upgrade at a small price it was better as the rooms are very small as we stay for 3 nights or more. I know its a hotel that is environmental but I do not like the paper cups in the room they are unpleasant to drink from and also dangerous as they are too hot without a handle but overall we still like staying here and the price is usually good.
Lovely Room. Excellent Staff. I prefer cooked breakfast.
My sleep was severely disturbed by other guests coming and going in the corridors outside my room. It wasn't that they were being overly noisy, but every door opening/closing in the vicinity of my room was audible during the night.
Great hotel, location perfect, staff friendly and helpful
Staff always friendly. Room always clean. The only thing that bothers me is the disposable cups for tea in the room. I have to bring my own mug.
The hotel was clean and moden. Our room was big with plenty of space to move about. The staff were lovely and kept our bags securely before and after check out. It's in a great area in the city centre.
From entering the hotel, reception where friendly and informative. All staff where very friendly and couldn't do enough for all the quests.hotel was very clean and breakfast food was always fully stocked and fresh. The bar area had plenty of room and comfortable chairs. We have stopped at the hotel several times and will be back again has it is good value for money in a great location.
Thank you for a very pleasant experience. Staff were great. Very comfortable bed spotlessly clean everywhere. Excellent selection for breakfast. Have already booked again for two more stays this year.
All was good. But only two points - No cleaning rooms done last 2 days - Stamp requirement on extras invoices done after resistance at reception, though it was explained that we need your hotel stamp for official using at accounting.
Great location and value for money, very friendly staff
Great hotel great location beds comfy and rooms quiet brilliant stay
Very welcoming, friendly staff and rooms are spotless. Reasonably priced too. Also, well situated for attending Theatre Royal which is virtually just around the corner and close to shops too. Will definitely book again when attending any other shows.
Stay was excellent! Good location - friendly reception staff - bar staff rinsed and refilled my partner's bottle, (with iced water!) - stored luggage after check out so had a nice day in the city without baggage and no hassle retrieving - room was well sized - AC worked and was great. Only negatives - no glasses in bathroom/tea caddy, and only 1 key card for 2 of us (and the card was needed for the lights, meaning I couldn't leave on the evening/morning for my normal plod around the city when my partner was asleep). The shower was not powered, but made for a good wash. Great stay, and I like the Euro style bedding (double bed as 2 singles).. thank you!
1st time in Newcastle. Loved the city and the hotel was perfect. Walking distance to the wonderful city shopping complex. Staff extremely helpful. No complaints whatsoever. Will use the hotel on any further visits.
Clean and comfy. Friendly staff. Lovely hotel. Some noise from outside from revellers leaving the bar opposite.
We were very pleasantly surprised on entering the bar/lounge and terrace area is wonderful. Speedy and friendly check in, room nice for the price, toiletries and usb points etc very impressed. Small but not a problem. Only criticism was no glasses for water, there were paper cups for coffee but not the same.
Overall, an excellent experience. The room was very clean, fresh and well-appointed. Excellent tea+coffee. Space standards are very good, although the desk was very small, and the chair not very comfortable to sit on. Otherwise, the bed was fine, the room was very quiet and the curtains kept most of the daylight out in the morning. Breakfast was excellent, in a very stylish and spacious lounge/bar area.
Very helpful staff from the moment we checked in. Room clean and good size. Bed comfy. Great breakfast and late night bar a nice quiet retreat from the busy Newcastle nightlife.
The staff were friendly & welcoming, and the room was clean & beautiful. Will definitely book there again!
Great location, room was clean but small wardrobe space and no drawers meant clothes had to stay in our case or on top.
not great - lights didn't work in the room - was asked to wait while this was sorted - nobody came back to let me know had been resolved. I got to the room and there was a walkie talkie left behind on the table - which I put outside of the room door expecting that someone would realise their mistake and come collect it. Walkie talkie was never collected and staff continued to radio through it all night long which kept me awake. Not great overall
Excellent great to where we needed to be lovely room nice staff
Excellent value for money - the location was superb and there was no noise transfer from the outside/bars. The hotel was spotless and the staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay in Motel One hotels again.
The room was very hot and the air conditioning didn’t kick in until we were leaving. The location and lobby are great. Rooms very basic.
As always another great stay here, great location, lovely staff, continental breakfast but really lovely so much choice. My biggest and only gripe eas the cost thos time it was double what I usually pay, it was Rugby Magic weekend everywhere was the same and I think it's outrageous.
The comfiest mattress I’ve ever slept upon. Very clean room and overall a fantastic experience! Great that checkout is late at no extra cost! Would highly recommend and definitely be staying again.
Disappointed tbh. Room a little small. Bathroom light wouldn't come on, toilet seat cracked. Good location though, but due to the location, we had alot of noise from the clubs during the night, and lots of noise in the morning from the bins being emptied.
For the price (almost 400 for two nights in a small room), I’d expect: a more powerful shower, better coffee and tea choices with biscuits, a fridge, more toiletries, better quality pillow.
Dirty bed sheets upon arrival. When paying £119 for a 1 night stay it’s not good enough
Bit too basic. Lack of befroom furnishings: wardrobe, drawers. 3 hangers for 2 people?
The bedroom and bathroom were clean. The mattress on my bed was too soft, and the pillows were uncomfortable. The air conditioning/climate control did not work, and the room was hot and stuffy, even with the temperature set to the lowest setting and the fan on full blast. I did not have a good night's sleep. The price for the room was good.
We stayed with you ae we were going to see the rugby the room was on the small side also the bathroom was very small. What I couldn't accept was the paper cups and stirrer to make a hot drink.
Brilliant hotel as always with Motel One! Staff were so friendly and helpful and the hotel placement and facilities were amazing!
Expensive hotel, taking advantage of the weekend rugby. The room was very small, so small no room for a wardrobe. Trying too hard to be cool and trendy, I would have preferred comfortable. Drinks were also expensive. The staff are nice and helpful.
Fabulous friendly staff, great breakfast, lovely communal areas downstairs. Bedrooms are dated, dirty carpets, but well laid out. Nice bathrooms.
We needed a one-night stop over and this seemed the ideal location. Our expectations weren't high but oh my goodness, what a (pleasant) surprise. We could not find a single fault. Excellent standards, service, quality and value.
Excellent value for money with quality much higher than expected.
I checked in on Thursday the 2nd and checked out on the 3rd. Everyone was absolutely amazing! The reception lady ( sorry do not know her name) took care of my requirements without excitation. On the bar on Thursday at 17:30 the server ( not sure the name either) was extremely helpful, attentive and friendly. Friday breakfast both servers were amazing ( a young man and a woman). Thank you all !
Good arrived late check in was quick room clean enjoyed stay
Great location, friendly employees, good prices. What more do you need.
I've stayed in a few Motel One hotels now and it really annoys me that you can't provide proper cups and teaspoons for hot drinks - it was £150 a night at your hotel in Manchester and having to have a brew out of a paper cup just means I'll book elsewhere in future, and I stay over 150 nights a year in hotels with my job.
Nice room but incredibly hot even with the air conditioning on
I had a peaceful & lovely time during my short stay. Receptionist Christa was very welcoming & friendly. Although would've loved to have flip flops to use in the bathroom & curtain sheers for privacy during the day.
At 7am the fire alarms went off in my bedroom and in the corridors. This happened to other people on my floor we went downstairs through the fire door and had to find out way to the front of the hotel . When we did we were stood outside for 25 minutes whilst fire alarms were going off and through all that not a single staff member could be seen eventually after wondering what was happening we went back in through reception and the staff were in there carrying on with their day acting like nothing had happened. No one had the courtesy to come outside and tell us it was a false alarm. It was 7 am so of us had been woken up out of our beds it’s very evident the staff didn’t care.
It was my first time at Motel One, and I was very impressed. The public areas were attractive and stylish, and all the staff were smartly dressed, and very polite and helpful. Great location for visiting Newcastle.
So, let me first off, start by saying, the only reason this isnt a 1, is becuase the staff was so friendly, and as accomidating as they could be. I have never been to my office in Newcastle, let alone the UK. We went on a recomendation, for this hotel by the local office person. Now, I understand in american thing are done differently, in different places,, BUT there is one important thing i expect, Air Conditioning! i Must have it cold when i sleep otherwise i Sweat, and do NOT SLEEP! for some reason your hotel, turns the entire bulding, onto Recirc, and the AC is not actually turned on.. While i said, the staff did everything they could to help, offering me a fan, and lowering my floor, non of those fixed the fact that my room was in excess of 25.5c I can NOT sleep in that temperature! so, sadly, while the staff was super accomdating, and tried to offer help, when i asked how do we fix this, they said there is nothjing else we can do, as its like that in the entire building.. We did take the fans, as we were forced to stay two more nights, while a different hotel opened up.. A Ned guest saw us entering the lift with a fan, and was like oh boy thats not good.. and he too was suprised and taken back by the hotels choice to not have AC as an option, in the entire hotel! this decision, did make us cancel our reservation, after 3 nights, we were supposed to 14.. the breakfast, while i found out, after the fact, that the breakfast WAS FORCEFULLY included in my bill, was horrible, and we did NOT EAT it ONCE! i will not be recomening this hotel, again the ONLY saving grace your hotel had, was the staff was delightful, and friendly!! the hotel, accomidations, and food, was horrible!
On each visit we have enjoyed excellent service in all areas of the hotel.

Full of natural charm
Our centrally-located Motel One Newcastle is warmed by the charm of raw brickwork, in the form of a genuine brick façade with an industrial style harking back to the history of this working-class city. The interior design takes as its motif the bridges over the Tyne, and the stylish faux-industrial bar pays homage to the achievements of Robert Stephenson, who designed the Rocket steam locomotive. Real leather furniture by Baxter and fine rugs by Jan Kath complement the look. Elegant details such as chairs by Arketipo with distinctive steel frames, and mirrored shelving stocked with carafes of whisky add touches of charm.
And of course, it is no accident that the striped wallpaper at reception is in Newcastle United colours. Even the location in the city’s historic centre suits the industrial-modern style of our affordable Design Hotel. Sights such as the Theatre Royal, Grey’s Monument and Newcastle Town Hall are close at hand, the hotel is handy for the central station, and the airport is easily accessible.
Book your room in our Design Hotel and experience the rich contrasts between “old” industrial and “new” modern design.
