First time to stay here and was very pleasantly surprised. Hotel is 2 mins from Monument Metro station, which is at centre of town. Room was spotless and very modern. Queen size bed was so comfortable as were pillows and duvet. I visited on an extremely busy weekend and hotel were perfectly calm and staff very welcoming. Hotel should be 4 star at least.
We booked 4 rooms, sadly one room ( one of my daughters and her child) was a real problem ! A very nasty orange wet patch on the carpet next to the bed ! The bathroom in that room stank of sewage; most unpleasant.
Wholly excellent hotel with friendly staff, decor above its price point, and a great location. Please note the bathroom lights were short circuiting.
We had a lovely relaxing time thankyou.
Great Hotel, excellent location good value for money.
The room was ridiculously small for two people and ridiculously hot. The air conditioning was sub standard.
The hotel in general was amazing the public areas were clean modern and presentable very welcoming and professional staff. The only thing that was a slight disappointment was the rooms didn’t seem to live up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. The rooms were clean and presentable but very basic in respect to the rest of the hotel. Will definitely visit again though.
Great location. Clean & comfortable room.
Staff very friendly and welcoming Everything was stop on apart from toenails all over the bathroom side and floor
Only criticism is not enough storage for clothing if staying for more than two days (based on 2 outfit changes per day).
This is our second visit to this hotel. I like the building with the mix of old and new structures. The rooms are nicely furnished. My one criticism is the clothes storage, not much of it. For one or two nights you manage but if I was here longer I would like more storage. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. I like that it has air conditioning. It has a nice bar area and an outdoor seating area. The continental breakfast offers a very wide choice of food and drinks and was excellent. The staff were always checking what was on show and making sure a full choice was maintained. The staff were very friendly, polite and checked that we were happy with everything. The hotel is in an excellent location, right in the heart of the city. It is easy to walk to bars, restaurants and tourist sights. We will be back.
Ideal room with everything needed for a night's stay, clean my only complaint would be only having 1 bin that was located in the bathroom and no bag. All in all it was a good experience and I would use again.
An excellent hotel run by informed, polite and courteous staff. Spotlessly clean and well presented. we had two people in our party who need to use wheelchairs and the briefing given to them by the receptionist was first class. I would have given 10/10 if there had been more selection on the bar snacks menu and the option of a full English breakfast. I will definitely look to stay there again should I be anywhere near the central district.
Our experience was satisfactory other than the fact that our room was very warm and the air conditioning was not very effective.
Room, bathroom and everything very tidy and neat. The staff was friendly and everything was very welcoming for us and our little dog.
The room was big however the bathroom was small and had mold on the ceiling with no ventilation system. The pillows were too soft and the bed itself was too hard.
Really good apart from the a/c in the room doesn't work, leaving me too hot to sleep all night - I suspect it was about 22/23c and as the window doesn't open properly (understandable from a safety point of view) it left the room just that bit too hot.
I was able to check in a tad bit early which was nice. They accommodated my request for a fan in the room and the front desk was friendly. The interior of the hotel lobby was very nice and inviting. Bar area and lounge are well decorated and cozy. The rooms are small but served my needs just fine. The bed and pillows are comfortable and the shower has good water pressure and hot water quickly. It was quiet during my stay on the fifth floor. My only area for improvement would be housekeeping. The room was cleaned on an irregular schedule. First day none, second and third day were cleaned and restocked, the last two days no housekeeping service was provided. There should be a phone to call the front desk in rooms versus having to go down to the front desk. Other than those minor complaints, all was good!
Lovely room. Friendly helpful staff made you feel welcome. Will definitely stay again.
Really good value for the standard of the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was a little warm and a member of staff brought me a fan immediately when I requested one. Comfortable bed and a good shower, which is pretty much all you need for a comfortable stay
Nice clean hotel. Great bar area including a patio/courtyard which was lovely. Tiny bathroom, but great shower with slider bar shower head (which is what women like!! So we don’t have to get our hair wet on every shower) Would stay again.
Good location, facilities and rooms
Had an amazing stay for a special birthday - lots of thoughtful touches and easy flow to checkin and check out
Great hotel . excellent position . we have stayed a few times . a bit pricey for continental breakfast even though food very nice
Hotel very stylish. My only concern is the dark lobby area from entrance to reception. Quite hard to see the floor! Friendly and helpful staff who had taken note of my room request. The lane outside the hotel is very lively at night - sometimes a bit too lively.
Would have been a 9 but air conditioning in room was woeful
It’s very friendly, central and clean. I can’t score above 8 as the advertised aircon is not very effective
Great location, stylish interior, friendly, efficient staff, comfortable beds.. everything was great!
Room was tired. No ventilation. Far too hot.
Rooms are a bit hot and the bathroom has weird smell but overall nice experience.
Excellent staff, so friendly and helpful. Beautiful lounge and bar area, brilliantly designed space. Clean, comfy and excellent value for money.
The hotel is quite expensive and does not even have air conditioning.
Very disappointed to find that the rooms have no cooling system, it was very warm , the window barely opened and whilst I had it open during the night the ongoing sound of bins being emptied until 2am meant not much sleep was had. Reception & Bar area were great and you could feel the air conditioning, the rooms were a very different story and I had to ask for a fan from reception.
Air condition was basically useless. Room very hot. Air con turned down to lowest setting and still remain too hot throughout stay. Also, I have reported an issue via email in terms of issue I had with sockets. Mobile phone would not charge properly and appears to was making concerning noises (static). Also after a few seconds of using my own Personal hair dryer that I had travelled with, it overheated and blew. Having reported the issues I was told there were no issues. no left having to purchase a new hair dryer at a costs of £150.00
Overall very good but the room did have an issue with the ceiling where the metal ceiling looked like it could come loose. Brought it to receptions attention and it was sorted by the maintenance team. Was something that ideally could have been spotted before I went in the room.
Me and my partner stay in motel ones every chance we get when traveling and we love them, the Newcastle one is lovely and on our last visit it was really warm outside and the hotel offered us with a fan for our bedroom and it made a huge difference! Thank you again. The beds are the comfiest we’ve slept in you’re guaranteed a lovely nights sleep!
Good location but a bit worn out
I have stayed at the Newcastle Motel one a few times. I do feel when it is so stressful to park there it is not too much to ask for staff to help you with your luggage to your room, after very long journey. They eyed each other up and one lady told me when I questioned I was being demanding asking for help. Why work in hospitality I commented! .
Hotel is lovely, reception area is modern and well kept. Bar area is beautiful and represents the hotel as a whole well. The rooms are quite small and basic although everything you need is there however I would have liked a mini fridge as an option. I will say the room we were in on the 6th floor was excruciatingly hot, not warm but hot. The heat hit as soon as the door was opened. We did put the air con on the coolest setting and have a fan running for the entirety of our stay however this just circulated warm air around the room. There was a heat wave during our visit so we don’t blame this entirely on the hotel but the air con definitely could be better. It was impossible to sleep in the heat and a task to get dressed without sweating excessively. The bed is one of the most comfortable hotel beds we have stayed in.
The check in was long, I have never known a 25 minute queue at check in. Staff were lovely though. Air con not working and cushions dirty.
Rooms clean and comfortable but the room myself and friends were in was very basic for what we paid from booking.com was unable to book breakfast for my friends however mine came with breakfast.
Can’t fault the room or the staff ! It was so warm the weekend we were there and the aircon was pretty ineffective, might want to think about an upgrade.
The reception and bar area of the hotel is nice but the corridors and rooms are looking shabby and dated and the carpets are frankly disgusting! The aircon in our room was useless and you guys need to get rid of those revolting plastic cups - they are repulsive!
I’m a big fan of Motel one , have stayed at the Newcastle hotel a number of times as well as Manchester. I’m always very impressed with the friendliness of the team and general vibe of the hotel. Unfortunately this time the room was so hot that zero sleep was had , I know there’s been a heatwave but fans should be made available or just put into the rooms.
TV didn’t work and couldn’t programme/retune channels. WIFI was really poor and dropped in and out. Room lacked ventilation, the aircon seemed to be blowing warm air even on the lowest setting.
Overall the hotel was pretty good and represented fair value for money. Staff were helpful although the night security could do with a crash course on customer facing skills. Disappointed that the WiFi and television didn’t work in the rooms. Great location too. Not sure I would be recommending Dean Gate Car Park as ended up with 2 penalty notices on the car for a 2 night stay. Please feel free to contact me on holdenjac5@gmail.com
Excellent location, room was good although a little warm given the weather. Would definitely stay with you again
The hotel was nice enough but there was no air conditioning and we struggled to sleep both nights we were there due to the heat.
Room is dirty and dull
Loved our stay, staff very helpful, place was in a great location, good value for money , definitely stay again!!

Hotel Newcastle
Our centrally-located Motel One Newcastle is warmed by the charm of raw brickwork, in the form of a genuine brick façade with an industrial style harking back to the history of this working-class city. The interior design takes as its motif the bridges over the Tyne, and the stylish faux-industrial bar pays homage to the achievements of Robert Stephenson, who designed the Rocket steam locomotive. Real leather furniture by Baxter and fine rugs by Jan Kath complement the look. Elegant details such as chairs by Arketipo with distinctive steel frames, and mirrored shelving stocked with carafes of whisky add touches of charm.
And of course, it is no accident that the striped wallpaper at reception is in Newcastle United colours. Even the location in the city’s historic centre suits the industrial-modern style of our affordable Design Hotel. Sights such as the Theatre Royal, Grey’s Monument and Newcastle Town Hall are close at hand, the hotel is handy for the central station, and the airport is easily accessible.
Book your room in our Design Hotel and experience the rich contrasts between “old” industrial and “new” modern design.
