We have stayed at several Motel 1,s and never had any complaints at all. The service from start to finish was excellent. A very clean and tidy hotel, room was fantastic with the joy of air conditioning and the beds were very comfy indeed.
Hotel is in a central location, and a good base for exploring the city. The staff were very friendly and very welcoming upon check in. The room was a good size, it was also very clean and tidy. We would definitely recommend.
The Hotel was extremely clean had all the facilities we required comfortable bed.
Great location and a good price. The lobby area was pleasant and all the staff were helpful. Unfortunately the TV in my room was not working and the front door was very difficult to close.
Quality room, bath room, great location, very friendly and helpful people, want to highlight Costel who helped me on various matters.
My first visit to Royal Exchange. Motel One is always comfortable, clean and quiet. Reception staff are friendly and welcoming.
Very welcoming and accommodating guests. Great location.
Air conditioning wasn't working properly and would have appreciated a bottle of water as a complimentary gesture
Mike (Michael) your receptionist who checked me in, is a credit to your company. Polite, kind and thoughtful.
the most wonderful atmosphere, lovely staff, lovely room, fab shower, never had a heated base before, amazing mattress and pillows best night sleep i have ever had in a hotel
Stay was good until I could smell cigarette smoke on several occasions in my room. I contacted reception who advised security would walk the corridor but I asked to move rooms from my 1st floor room, I was given a 6th floor room. I had to move all my items without assistance, although the reception were helpful, but late at night was not a good experience
Room was dirty tv never worked on arrival and bed covers covered in stains
couldn’t fault the hotel in any way !! had the best, first time experience ever !!
Location was fantastic, very central, super clean, bed was comfy love the air con absolute win ! Drinks at the bar were lovely and staff were supper friendly and helpful Won’t stay anywhere else now when I visit Manchester
It was ok - nothing special and not really worth the price.
Overall excellent room and location. Only drawback was the constant engine noise (air condition?) outside with an open window
Overall the hotel was fine however in our room the tv did not work, reception attempted an update but didn’t work, we could not use any services. Morning of check out we had no hot water whatsoever, shower was freezing cold. Not a great experience.
Central, modern, rooms are gorgeous. Would definitely recommend
Excellent location in central Manchester, used the nearby Q-park for which a hotel discount can be applied. Have stayed here in many different rooms, usually on a higher floor at the back of the hotel which is typically quiet. Priced very competitively but easily beats others on quality and the staff who are always very helpful (and available). Sometimes have breakfast which is great but there are lots of options outside of the hotel as well.
Excellent location and price. Darren on reception was friendly and helpful during check-in. Great bed, we slept really well. Would book again
I stayed at another Manchester Motel One a few years ago and was impressed though my room was a little dark. The Royal Exchange Motel One was convenient for my theatre stays and my ‘Special One’ room was a pleasant surprise - large and very light. The bathroom was small but very well finished though I like to have the option of a bath as well as a shower. My only real disappointment was the lack of proper coffee making and fridge facilities. I’d hoped that the Special One would include a Nespresso type coffee machine and mini fridge as Premier Inn Plus rooms do but this was not the case. Instant coffee just isn’t coffee no matter what the brand. Even a cafetière would be a considerable improvement on what was available. The highlight for me was the wonderful breakfast selection, which was replenished regularly. I do not enjoy a cooked breakfast and was pleased there wasn’t one, much preferring the wide selection of meats, cheeses, bakery items, fruits, cereals, yogurts etc. The quality was excellent as well as the choice. The staff members are a credit to Motel One. I stayed whilst unwell and was extremely well looked after. Fatima on Reception, in particular, is an outstanding member of staff and I hope this is recognised and rewarded by the company. Other members of staff, including at breakfast, were also pleasant and very helpful.
really enjoyed stay, everything worked well. staff were superb.
Well, not quite the ‘fabulous’ rating I’d seen on the various booking sites. The TV wouldn’t work (although it was fixed), the aircon only blew cold air (despite it being a cold evening and it had somehow switched itself on after I went out for the evening), the basin in the bathroom had no means of stopping water or plugging up the sink so it was impossible to have a wet shave. There was no means to contact reception from the bedroom so any issues would have resulted in me going all the way back to reception from the 5th floor. Whilst phones in rooms are unpopular these days, a contact number on the back of the room key paper holder would have been useful or something in the room as to how to speak to reception. Given the price point, I would have expected complementary bottles of water. There was no bin in the main room, only in the bathroom? That said, the staff were friendly and polite.
Great service once again, TV kept losing signal was the only issue
Splashed out for a view room and didn't regret it. Reception staff also best yet (out of 3 or 4 stays) and appreciated the printing; it's one of the things that keeps me coming back to your 3 Manchester properties every month. Rooms really need a desk, though - even a small one - could that change?
Room was lovely and bed very comfortable. Shower was ok, could have done with more pressure. Breakfast offering was disappointing.
Very well situated. Room perfectly appointed.
The hotel was in a great location and very convenient for the centre of Manchester. The lobby and hotel room were very clean and smart. The only adjustment would be the use of ironing facilities or a laundry room to iron clothes.
Fabulous, staff great, breakfast was good, room was good. As I'm a middle aged female I particularly liked being able to control the temperature in my own room. Well done guys. G=Fab stay all be it with work.
We had a great stay, the room was nice and clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the bed was comfy. If I had one minor grumble it would be that the window couldn't be opened to allow any fresh air in. Great location in a great city.
Quiet & comfortable rooms, very clean & tidy, a little lacking in shelf space, lovely friendly staff.
Always enjoy staying here for my work., Wouldn't go anywhere else. thanks
All staff were so lovely and friendly... Location perfect 💯 room was a bit small but ok for 1 night breakfast great
Clean room. Comfy bed. Quiet room away from the lift. Great price
Overall we had a good stay, but it wasn't as good as our previous stay at a Motel One. We were kindly given a larger room than we had booked, which was great, but the first room we were given had a window that was incorrectly fitted and let a lot of noise in from trams, traffic etc. the window clearly needs to be adjusted or changed. It was on the 6th floor. We were then given a room on the 4th floor and it was quiet (the window had been correctly fitted). The main thing I did not like was that for the whole period of our stay (3 nights), there was a box of ceiling tiles stored in the corridor. It looked unsightly, but was also in an emergency escape route so could be dangerous the event of a fire. The local fire authority would be very unhappy with this. The box was seen by reception staff and cleaning staff but was not moved for 3 days. It gave the impression that management of the hotel was not as good as it should have been. Also, virtually none of the TV channels worked, so we could not watch TV for 3 days.
Lovely room and in an excellent spot for shopping
Excellent location Very helpful staff Great continental breakfast. The only blip was the air conditioning was unfathomable. The reception had to set from reception
TV didn’t work and no water in the room.
This is the 3rd time I have stayed at Motel One and I am always impressed. Royal Exchange didn't disappoint.
Great stay, fantastic location!
Excellent value for money. All the staff I interacted with were friendly and professional.
The accessible room I had was great (lovely bathroom and perfect size) - if a little far from the lift. Only issue I had personally was that I arrived quite late and wasn't aware that the only food available was toasties ... but will know for next time
Centrally located and comfortable. We always receive a warm welcome and this time was no different. Fatima ensured that we were checked in quickly; she was very polite, friendly and efficient.
Really great location, the room was really comfortable. Perfect for a 1 night stay.
Value for money, exceptional staff and location, , front rooms you can here trams low noise throughout night , room small but adequate, very dark we had a black wardrobe and we could not see what was in there because of the lighting in fact we used our phone .
From welcome from evie which was wonderful great bed and sleep and great location I’ll staff again !
A really good central location for this modern hotel. Michael the hotel receptionist was excellent, we had a few requests which he was very efficient in helping us with.
Perfect for short city break or business travel. Friendly, helpful staff, clean room, confi bed and decent breakfast.
I love motel one , the staff and just the way they treat you
I put a request about twin beds, when I arrived there they informed me they do not do twin beds, I wish they informed me before I had arrived as I would of booked somewhere else instead, so I felt like I had no other option when I arrived there. I also wish that on the booking email that they would of mentioned that there was parking at the hotel, as we didn’t know this which meant we had to park the car quite a walk away.

Location and surroundings
Hotel Manchester Royal Exchange
Our Motel One Manchester-Royal Exchange is designed with a trendy faux-industrial look in memory of Manchester’s golden era when it was known as “Cottonopolis”: all about cotton as a raw material and its processing. The foyer is dominated by six-metre high round steel arches and a wall of printed cloth, as a foretaste of our theme. Furniture by Baxter and hanging lamps by Alturo Alvarez are complemented by details such as spools of thread and spinning machines.
The main eye-catcher is a wall installation entitled "Cottonopolis" by paper artist Andy Singleton, composed entirely of shapes cast by innumerable single threads.
Our affordable hotel is situated right opposite the Royal Exchange Theatre in the very heart of Manchester. The Town Hall, Manchester Cathedral, Manchester Arena and the Manchester Central Convention Complex are within walking distance, and both Victoria and Manchester Piccadilly stations are within easy reach.
Visit us in Manchester and find out about the centre of the cotton trade.

Cool Cotton
Classic British furniture, paper sculptures and more will transport you to "Cottonopolis" - 19th century Manchester.

Cutting Edge
Paper artist Andy Singleton has proven a steady hand for Motel One Manchester-Royal.
