Clean and large room. Good position of the hotel. Some staff at the receptioni was too hasty. Check in from 3 pm is too late.
Stayed here for 4 nights for a personal retreat. I think the hotel deserves its rating but at the same time nothing to complain about. The location is perfect, right around all the great shops and restaurants. The staff are so kind and helpful and go above and beyond to make up for any inconvenience. The beds are very comfortable, the bathroom is stunning. My only suggestions would be for the TV to be a smart Tv, no one really watches freeview anymore. Then to also perhaps have a better range at breakfast, maybe some bacon, baked beans pancakes etc then again it’s not bad if you’re not really fussed about breakfast. What they had on offer was still nice. Like I said the hotel is worth it’s rating, it does the job if you want somewhere nice to stay but you’re not depending on the hotel for anything other than than a comfortable sleep and a nice shower! Would I come back? Yes
Excellent services & great location
Poor bedding, no actual cups or glasses. Had to sleep under towels as bedding was so poor! Would have liked a coffee machine, but price was very good, and not an unpleasant hotel. Doesn’t compare to your German establishments (Hamburg).
TV in room did not work
Stayed 2 days this time, very friendly reception staff, gave me my members free bottle of water, rooms booked via my company's booking agent
We stayed 2 nights the first night was absolutely awful the room we were in was so noisy one of the noisiest hotels I have ever stayed in we got no sleep and literally made us so tired the next day I did tell reception and got our room moved to a much better room with no noise and got given a bottle of water for the inconvenience?? Not very good at all really as we were only in Manchester 2 nights and could not do the things we wanted to the second day as being so tired
All good, no issues. Would like it if Irons were in the hotel as standard and you didn't have tl request one at reception then lug an ironing board all the way upto your room
Hotel was perfect, couldn’t fault our stay one bit. Stayed 3 nights had no problems at all, location is perfect and couldn’t get any better for the price! Rooms and nice and clean will definitely be back again!!
This is my 3rd time at Royal Exchange. I like it so much, I have become a Motel One member 😀. Here's why: Upon arrival, we had a lovely welcome. Check in was quick and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Got given bottles of water to take to the room. Asked for an extra key which was no problem. The room was spotless. Plenty of room to hang your clothes and store your cases. Lovely, fluffy towels and plenty of toiletries. Tea & coffee tray. I love a cuppa in the morning so asked for extra milk etc, given with no quibble. The reception is always manned and if you have any questions, they are so very helpful. The bar is well stocked and Mario is the cheeriest bar person. Our stay was restful and peaceful. On check out we were again met friendly helpful staff. We had a car with us and wanted to nip to the shops. They watched our suitcases no problem and gave us some time to do so. All in all, the staff are a credit to this hotel. I will definitely be returning in the future 😀. Thank you.
The hotel is very central to everything in Manchester. The reason for the eight score is we were left in the lounge for an hour and a half while waiting to check in. Please note the staff when realising what happened were very apologetic.
Room was too hot air con came on around 8am!
Room and staff were lovely. Only downside was late checkout was only until 2
Beautiful hotel ..modern ..lovely clean rooms ..great staff
Nice staff Fast and easy check in and out Location is great
Good location. However slightly spoiled by a room which hadn’t been fully cleaned (sweets on the floor from assumedly the previous guests) - which throws doubt over how well the rest of the room was cleaned. Also just incredibly loud. Not necessarily the hotels fault (however could seriously improve the soundproofing), could hear every step in the corridor, including multiple obnoxious guests between 0:00-2:00AM, both nights, making a lot of noise and waking us up. Resulting in two nights of poor sleep.
Excellent
Nice place and friendly staff
It was the first time I'd stayed at this property - and I enjoyed it. Good location, efficient check-in, pleasant room.
We love this hotel. It's so clean, comfortable , friendly and central.
Had a nice stay, the staff were great and the room comfortable and clean. breakfast excellent with good Vegan options. The only negative I'd say is having no real security. Open access to the hotel with no card needed for the lift and access to the toilets in the basement was a little uncomfortable for us. Overall a great stay and great location.
All the staff were polite, I felt safe, it was clean and I had a lovely stay. Thank you so much!
The prize was very good for this hotel in the centre of Manchester. And Michael at the reception was very friendly.
Excellent hotel with modern clean rooms and super friendly staff. The hotel was everything we needed for a great stay in Manchester. It’s perfectly placed right next to the arndale centre and transport links to explore the city. 100% will stay here again when visiting Manchester
Great stay, clean room, no noise disruptions, good shower, comfy bed.
Location is good with easy access to Market St, Arndale Centre and the metrolink. The room was comfortable without being too hot. I was there for 4 nights and only heard other guests on one occasion.
Can’t beat this hotel. It’s really inviting, cosy, relaxing and absolutely immaculately clean. It’s decorated both modern but with a homely feel. Bathroom was modern and spotless and the giant bed was very comfortable. Great facilities including fast WiFi and I used the bar area one evening for a hot drink before bed and the bartender was really nice. All staff were friendly, polite and really helpful. I felt welcome from the second I arrived. The hotel had couples, singles and families staying so caters for all. From the ease of booking online and the options given, getting hold of customer services to ask a question, complimentary bottle of water for my stay to how lovely the rooms were, this will be my go to hotel every time I’m in Manchester. I had a room with a view over the main road but it was quiet at night. It’s in a great location close to the main shopping area, plenty of restaurants and bars in the evening and lovely coffee shops during the day. I stayed a few months back at a hotel on Deansgate for triple the cost and the room looked like it was still being built, it was depressing, over priced and the staff and atmosphere were miserable. I wish I had found Motel One sooner. Can’t recommend this place enough.
My boyfriend booked this place for us, and we were honestly surprised by how great it was. The quality exceeded our expectations and this hotel is actually better than many well-known brands we’ve stayed at.
Nice hotel in a perfect location
Fantastic location and lovely staff Stayed here for a short trip and couldn’t fault the location — right in the heart of the city. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially at reception. Great value for a central stay!
Fantastic staff . Great location . Lovely ambience !!
Warm welcome from lovely Spanish receptionist (sorry, I didn't get her name) Quiet room on 7th floor Room small but had everything required Night cap in nice bar Hotel in great, central location
The tv wasn’t working so we had to move room and then the controller didn’t work, we then also were woke up by banging the next morning as there was work going on in the room beside us, i would of let it go if it was done in the afternoon etc.
I emailed late the night before my stay to request a room last minute and Costel replied very quickly and professionally - very helpful! Staff are always very attentive and helpful. Breakfast is a nice selection, the happy eggs make me smile.
A beautiful hotel
Great location Exceptionally clean Comfortable Quiet at night Welcoming staff
Your hotel is great, lovely reception staff, great ambiance , super clean , lovely decor . I will be back for sure Thank you Motel One
Excellent Services ! The reception Micheal is very friendly & good service ! I ll definitely come again!
Good location, friendly staff.
A great stay. Good location and friendly staff.
The Motel One has everything you can need for an amazing stay in the city. Very well placed, clean, very complete breakfast, comfortable beds and rooms, very fast lifts and very kind personal, always willing to help you. Everything is easy and smooth. Views from the room are not amazing, as it is opened to a very narrow street, and mails are not received in english, so you need to translate them. Only reason because I don't give them a 10. For the rest, impossible to request more for the price. I'll check Motel One in other cities for sure in my next trip.
I requested a room with a window that opened and was put in one that didn't. The following night I asked to move at the desk and the gentleman there was super helpful, found me a much better room with an opening window and moved me no issue.
I always stay with Motel One every time I'm in Manchester, and I appreciate the cleanliness, the friendly staff, and the comfortable beds.
Clean rooms with all the necessary facilities situated right in the middle of city with easy access to shopping, theatre, bars & restaurants. The only problem is the rooms aren't really soundproofed. You can hear everone in the corridor whatever time of night. I checked my door was locked several times but it didn't make any difference. Good if you have earplugs or a heavy sleeper. Air con and tv is great though.
Everything was great. The staff very polite and helping. The cleaning throughout the hotel. Impeccable room. Lovely shower. Comfortable bed. Breakfast, the variety, the fresh. Close to several shops. I enjoy very much and definitely next time ill book another stay. Congratulations to all
Really nice hotel ,comfortable rooms, nice public areas and very friendly and helpful staff ,highly recommended
Excellent unpretentious value for money and top quality service and cleanliness. I used to only go 4 or stars. Now I just go to Motor One, and with pleasure .
There is nothing wrong with the room. Had a wonderful sleep. The issues I had was to do with the table which had the coffee/ tea on it. All of this was way to low it is a issue where you are having to fill your coffee. Let alone easy op[tion to plug in the kettle. There is also no real area if you want to do work on a laptop. Yes you can move the tea coffee stuff but the other two Motel Ones in Manchester you dont have that issue. Also there is no thin curtain so if you want to open your blind you either have to have everything or nothing to the world. I would easy go back to motel One but I wont go back to this one.
I'm just leaving the highest score because Michael. He helped me to pay with the correct bank card, the woman who attended me before was completely hostile and unfriendly with the situation. But fortunately after Michael helped me to solve it with amazing attitude and empathy.
My room door didn’t lock and when i said this to staff nothing was done they just said sorry. i would of expected a room change or a refund but nothing was done

Location and surroundings
Hotel Manchester Royal Exchange
Our Motel One Manchester-Royal Exchange is designed with a trendy faux-industrial look in memory of Manchester’s golden era when it was known as “Cottonopolis”: all about cotton as a raw material and its processing. The foyer is dominated by six-metre high round steel arches and a wall of printed cloth, as a foretaste of our theme. Furniture by Baxter and hanging lamps by Alturo Alvarez are complemented by details such as spools of thread and spinning machines.
The main eye-catcher is a wall installation entitled "Cottonopolis" by paper artist Andy Singleton, composed entirely of shapes cast by innumerable single threads.
Our affordable hotel is situated right opposite the Royal Exchange Theatre in the very heart of Manchester. The Town Hall, Manchester Cathedral, Manchester Arena and the Manchester Central Convention Complex are within walking distance, and both Victoria and Manchester Piccadilly stations are within easy reach.
Visit us in Manchester and find out about the centre of the cotton trade.

Cool Cotton
Classic British furniture, paper sculptures and more will transport you to "Cottonopolis" - 19th century Manchester.

Cutting Edge
Paper artist Andy Singleton has proven a steady hand for Motel One Manchester-Royal.
