3 Design Highlights at Motel One Zurich

Zuerich Max Chocolatier Design Story

A leisurely boat trip on Lake Zurich, snow-capped mountains rising majestically into the blue sky, melt-in-the-mouth chocolate: at our Motel One Zurich, we have packaged everything that makes Switzerland's largest city so appealing into a unique design combination.

Our Hotel Zurich

Welcome to the mountains

Grüezi! Our Motel One Zurich welcomes you in the stately and now listed building of the former Selnau Post. At reception, you are right in the centre of the picture-book panorama of the Swiss Alps. Pendant lights by designer Tom Dixon mimic the movement of the mountainous landscape on the back wall. Indirect backlighting sets the scene for the mountain silhouette as if illuminated by the evening sun and radiates the graceful calm that surrounds these million-year-old giants. A symbolisation of the typical serenity of the Swiss? Perhaps!

Swiss chocolate

After check-in, the tempting part of your stay begins. Because Swiss chocolate is at least as famous as the wildly romantic mountains.
The sweet temptation also characterises the look of our bar in Zurich: the golden ceiling above the bar is reminiscent of shiny chocolate paper, the pendant lights melt like chocolate drops from the ceiling. And the Italian armchairs and sofas from Arketipo and Baxter in caramel and nougat colours... It's a feast for the eyes!

In addition to this feast for the eyes, there are of course also "real" treats for the palate: in winter you can warm yourself up with hot chocolate, on summer days you can refresh yourself with a chocolate sorbet. Or you can savour the collection of chocolates created especially for us by the Lucerne manufacturer "Max Chocolatier". Just to let you know: these little works of art will whet your appetite for more!

Clouds and sea air

Fancy a bit of exercise after so much sweetness? The lounge and breakfast area show you what awaits you on the doorstep of Lake Zurich: you can paddle, swim, dive and sail here! Golden propellers, round mirrors in the shape of portholes, miniature boat models from the traditional company Boesch and light and airy cloud lights from Bocci make you want to set off on a long voyage and let the fresh sea air waft around your nose!
