At Motel One Bonn-Hauptbahnhof, our otherwise regionally oriented design theme for the hotel interior is actually of global relevance: The United Nations has been represented in Bonn since 1951 and has since moved into its headquarters in the "Langer Eugen", formerly the office building of the members of the German Bundestag. And it is precisely here in Bonn that the UN focuses its work on climate protection and sustainability.
In the course of this, all UN member states adopted a joint draft in 2016 to guarantee peace and prosperity for the people and the planet. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These pursue a holistic approach that aims to balance social and economic injustices while protecting the earth and the environment. An exemplary project that we were happy to be guided by in the design of our Motel One.
No tree had to be felled for the massive bar counter and reception desk - it was made especially from recycled scrap wood. The back wall features plants from all over the world - after all, life would not be possible without them.
