Admittedly - you don't necessarily have it on your radar. But Hanover, the capital of Lower Saxony, has a lot to offer. Not only is it one of the leading trade fair cities in Europe. The high density of street art such as sculptures and installations in public spaces, numerous architectural monuments and lots of greenery make Hanover an attractive destination for your next city trip. Especially since there is now one more reason why you should definitely pay Hanover a visit with our Motel One Hanover-Oper, which is only a few minutes' walk from the namesake opera house. The listed building of the hotel was built in 1927 and previously served as the publishing and printing house of the Hannoversche Kurier. Our lounge is therefore all about newspaper publishing and printing, but the spirit of the 1920s is also reflected in the design.

The name says it all

Even before entering the Motel One Hannover-Oper it is litteraly visible that this is a special building. The listed lettering "Kurierhaus" above the entrance door already points to the important history of the former newspaper house. Inside, too, there are hints of the history of these impressive four walls on every corner. So, come on in!

Opposites attract

In our lounge, the contrasts of the golden 1920s and the industrial character of a newspaper printing plant meet. You'll find black steel surfaces and coarse fabrics as well as glamorous details and shiny materials. Whether you take a seat here in our Egg Chair or the Nomad Chair by Norr11: look up! The diamond patterned ceiling dates back to the 1920s and has been faithfully reconstructed.

From A to Z

The special eye-catcher of the lounge is definitely the bar. Metal letters are attached to the black high-gloss surface of the bar's back wall, reminiscent of the printing process from a bygone era. In between, new and futuristic letters build a bridge to the future. The artist Sebastian Peetz has hidden some words here in the hustle and bustle of the letters. You are sure to discover them while sipping your drink.

Headline-worthy

...is also Peetz's art installation next to the bar, which shows a couple devouring the printed news together. The striking stroke is characteristic of Peetz's works - here it is given some extra shine by background lighting.
