Participants and participation

The contest is open to all individuals over the age of 18 who are permanent residents of the EU, UK or Switzerland. This excludes employees of Motel One and their relatives. Failure to comply with any of the rules will lead to the exclusion of the participant from the contest. Similarly, any attempted manipulation shall result in exclusion from the contest.

Contest period and prizes

The contest starts on 20 April 2025 and concludes on 27 April 2025 at 11:59 pm.  

To take part, you need to follow the Facebook profile @Motel One. In addition, the competition post must be commented.

By commenting the competition post, the participants acknowledge and accept these conditions in full.

Comments that display derogatory language, discriminatory, racist or explicit content or negative references to individuals or companies shall be excluded from the contest.

The winner of the sweepstake will receive a 3-night stay for two at a Motel One of choice including breakfast. Redemption of the prize to availability and outside trade fair and event periods until 31 December 2025.

Travel by train (2nd class) or from a journey of more than 6 hours by flight (economy) for the winner and its companion is also part of the prize and will be organised by Motel One.

The winner will be selected at random from all participants who, in their comment under the giveaway post, state the correct number of hidden Egg Chairs in Motel One’s Facebook posts from April.

To be entitled to their prize, the winner must declare their acceptance to Motel One within 72 hours and submit all data required for announcing the winner. The prize cannot be changed nor redeemed for cash. Prize claims are not transferable.

Disclaimer / changes to the conditions of participation

Motel One assumes no liability for the availability of the Motel One website. Motel One assumes no liability for any potential transmission errors.

Premature termination of and changes to the contest

Motel One reserves the right to terminate or change the contest without prior notice at any time if the correct implementation of the contest cannot be guaranteed for technical or other reasons or if the fairness of the contest appears to have been compromised. The participants shall not derive any claims from such events.

Other provisions

There shall be no recourse to legal action. The participants shall have no enforceable claims to the prize or redemption thereof in cash. These eligibility requirements and the entire legal relationship between the participant and Motel One are governed exclusively by German law. Should individual clauses of the eligibility requirements be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining clauses shall remain unaffected.

Final clause

This contest is not affiliated with Meta. It is in no way sponsored, supported or organised by Meta. Any information submitted by participants is received not by Meta but by Motel One. All submitted information is used for the sole purpose of conducting the contest. The participants release Meta from any liability that may result from claims arising from the contest (in particular, its publication and organisation). Any questions, comments or complaints about the contests shall be directed to Motel One and not Meta.

- Purpose and scope of data processing and legal basis

For the purpose of running the contest, the controller collects and stores participants’ names and other personal data provided by participants on Meta. After the winner is chosen, they will also be asked to provide their address, which will be processed for the purpose of sending them the prize. The winner’s name will then be shared on Meta with their consent. The legal basis for processing is Art. 6 para. 1 (b) GDPR, as the data is required to fulfil a contract with the participants. If the winner consents to their personal data being shared on Meta, the legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 (a) GDPR.

- Disclosure to third parties

Data is not disclosed to third parties. Data processing by Meta occurs entirely independently of the data processing undertaken for the contest. Please refer to Meta's privacy policy in this regard: https://de-de.facebook.com/policy.php

- Duration of storage

All data is deleted within 30 days of the end of the contest.
