wheelchair room quite good, but not 100%. a person in a wheelchair can hardly move under the washbasin. there are a few design aspects which would come at hardly any cost but would ease the usage for wheelchair people a lot...
Very convenient location within short walking distance to New & Old Town. Clean, quiet comfortable room. Staff pleasant & helpful. Only problem was the internet service which was useless.
It was a great location but otherwise pretty "meh." No lobby to hang out in, reception was fine but not exceptional, and the room was large but kind of depressing in terms of comfort and decor. It was stuffy and I couldn't get the air working. Windows were weird . .. up high and double set of windows. . . . couldn't open to get air that way. Something was spilled on the carpet and it soaked my socks. It was brown so I'm guessing (hoping) it was coffee. Puddle remained during my whole 2-day stay. TV service cut in and out. Great location and price was reasonable. It was a mediocre stay overall.
We were expecting, as per our booking, a room with a view of Princes Street but didn’t get that. There was also extensive building works ongoing which could be a little noisy at times. We would not have booked had we known about this work. It might be better to go after the renovations are completed because the decor is a little tired in the rooms. Having said that the room was clean and serviced daily. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful.
Staff were friendly, polite and very helpful Room was excellent, plenty room, clean and tidy Thought it was too expensive for just one night
WiFi never worked despite alerting management multiple times.
Great staff and service. The breakfast was average no cooked options for the price would expect a better breakfast like other hotels near by.
Reception/Breakfast area was quite a lot darker than pictures on website. More lighting needed to make areas more brighter.
Was very disappointing a hotel without the outlets that didn’t have 2prong or to sell no hair conditions no phone no safe no refrigerator no water no slippers we just had basically a room with a bed not good
Very hot room and no WiFi but lovely staff and great location
The lady on reception was really helpful, especially when I ’lost’ my room behind a shut door. It was a shame that I had no WiFi for all three days and no uk tv for my Iast evening and next morning. But I did get some fresh milk in a whisky tumbler!
Ongoing renovation and construction work made the place feel not as inviting and cosy at it would usually be. I also had issues with my room card as it took me several attempts to open my room properly with the card every time I tried to get in. This was same for the main entrance. WiFi was also not working well throughout.
Good. A little hard to find but very nice. Breakfast included would have been nice
Very good hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. Location great.
Big renovations taking place whilst we were there. We were not warned beforehand. On arrival they said that is wouldnt be a bother to us, because they wont start until 9.00am. After placing us next door to all the work taking place we were woke up by sawing and banging at 7.45am.
My accommodations were very good. Hotel location. Staff. Breakfast all very good. The drawback was no internet in my room. I told the staff a number of times but they were unable to rectify the problem.
My only disappointment was the lack of washcloths for bathing. Seems like a pretty basic item.
I am satisfied with your hotel except one important matter: put two single duvets on the bed not that horrible double duvet you have. People in the bed are not always young people in love. And your pillows are like bricks. You must give your guests a pillow choice! Except from this, I had an excellent stay!
Lovely big room with a view. Enjoyed the new drinking cups.
We had a great time, the room was nice and clean with a stunning view.
This was my second and last time staying at Motel One Edinburgh-Princes. The room was far from comfortable — no fridge, no safe, and quite outdated overall. Despite that, the price was extremely high. I paid £686 for two nights, only to find out that the same room was available for £464 on Booking.com right after I checked in. I had free cancellation, and the hotel could have easily helped by cancelling and rebooking the second night at the lower rate. They chose not to. I raised the issue politely and gave them several chances to respond fairly, but they did absolutely nothing. The lack of flexibility, poor customer service, and unfair pricing made this a very disappointing experience. I won’t be staying here again, and I wouldn’t recommend it to others.
Apparently i read reviews wrong thought we were getting 4 star accommodations. I would say ada quite best describes the experience. The motel itself looks very tired but apparently are sound updates as one of our rooms were awakened from noise. To be clear the construction noise not that of the screaming kids as the parents who were wearing only towel used the hallways as playground noise. The “cooling” system not to be confused with ac as they have no ac, was difficult to understand even for staff when asked to explain it. Thus the room was humid when showering and bathroom smelled of urine smell. Linens and bed were adaquate. Towels again barely adaquate very rough and small and no face cloths. Shower itself though crowded small bath was adaquate. Pet friendly hotel always makes you wonder as carpet throughout was very dingy looking.
Super location. Very clean. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent service of staff and the manager is so helpful.
I enjoyed the stay at the Motel one Edinburgh. The rooms were comfortable. Being close to station and on prices street, it was walking distance to many of the attractions. Enjoyed the b.fast with a variety of fruits, and other continental b.fast options. I was travelling alone and felt safe staying at the hotel. The staff were courteous and helpful.
Excellent customer service when I checked in. The manager helped me solving an issue that I created myself by double booking and gave me the choice between two rooms. I had an lovely stay in a lovely room.
Hotel undergoing Reno’s so understand some issues, WiFi was non existent! Otherwise, hotel was clean and area I stayed nicely updated.
Great hotel and rooms! only downside was the Wifi it did not work in my room. I could not connect. this was fine since I have unlimited data otherwise it would have been a little bothersome… maybe something to look into.
Pleasant hotel, good location. Dynamic pricing means I paid much more than in previous visits. This alone would inhibit me from staying again.
I had pay for the room The One with a View ( the photos in your website are showing a big white window), in my arrival I was given a room in the forth floor with a view bur with a very small window not like the one in the picture in your website. I ask to the receptionist, and he explained that you only have 5 rooms like that, and he was kind to change us the room the other day. But being with a small kid the changing of the room was a bit of the hassle. The other room was beautiful (121) compered to the first. Overall my point is that you should advertise in your website the typology of the rooms that you have and not a room that you only have 5 rooms. Overall score is just for the inconveniences of changing room, other things were perfect.
Your staff are amazing and went above and beyond. The room I stayed in was very disappointing and after three nights I couldn’t wait to leave. Cheap beds and uncomfortable pillows. Cheap fittings. Window opened onto a stone wall. Room smelt weird. No proper furnishings in the room. It was small, dark and uncomfortable. The builders used the same lifts and the lifts smelt of smoke because they’d been in them. I was sick during this part of my stay and had to spend quite a long time in my room. Although reception is manned 24 hours there’s no way to contact them. So happy when I could check out.
The hotel's location is near tourist spots and malls, making it very accessible. Clean facilities, except that there is no refrigerator inside the room.
Excellent staff and service. Highly recommended
Wow 😍
Good hotel, very close to the station and very central to everything. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Hotel bar was good but some adult non alcoholic choices would be nice.
Great location, quiet room, comfy bed, good breakfast selection
We had an excellent 2 night stay there. The room was unique, very comfortable, with an exceptionally comfortable bed. The bathroom was nice, with the best shower we had at any of the 7 places we stayed while on holiday. The breakfast, which we were only able to enjoy on the first morning because of an early flight on the final morning, was wonderful. For a continental breakfast it certainly had everything anyone might need. The hot hard and soft cooked eggs were really appreciated. All staff that we encountered were very friendly and very helpful. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to other people. I would also stay in Motel One locations in other countries should I travel where there is one. Well done! I will just say that it was a little confusing that all emails were in German with no option to translate, and the television in the room was also only broadcasting in German, again with no option to switch to English, but neither of those things were a detriment to our experience at all.
We were greeted by a team of friendly receptionists. The room was clean especially the bathroom. We were really impressed.
The room was expensive for what it was. I didn't like being in the ADA room but was too sick to request a change and made due for the 4 days there. I had to ask for extra blankets. The staff wasn't terribly friendly.
Excellent location. However, despite advertising free WiFi, it did not work and the staff seemed unconcerned with resolving the issue. Basically said because it was free, we cannot expect it to work. The rooms also lacked a safe.
I always feel welcomed at Motel One Princes Street. For a mid priced hotel in Edinburgh, it can't be beaten for location and style as a mid-priced hotel. The lounge is a hidden oasis and perfect for 1:1 chats and meetings, the stall always friendly and efficient and the breakfast spread is amazing.
Had a terrible 1st night loud music street raucus activity then early morning bin recycling on complaining about room 203 we were immediately issued a different much nicer room staff could not have been more helpful
Great location close to train station and St Andrew Sq and St James shopping. Room was clean and provided all necessary bits. Would recommend
Everything was great and would definitely recommend to friends. Would suggest you have a second waste bin in the room. Having only one in bathroom wasn’t enough.
Great location, exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are small but well-appointed.
It's a well run hotel in a very convenient location.
Having stayed at your Motel One Princes St. exactly 3 years ago to the day, I am able to compare with April 2022. The prices have really shot up, regarding both the room and the price of breakfast. Little details lack as I compare my two stays. Small though important details like no complimentary pen in the room. For the rest no complaints just the price may oblige some of us to have to compare instead of booking "blindly" One detail I found unfortunate, was the choice of carpetting. Last time the carpet in turquoise and beige which matched the curtains, was most attractive. Now the black blotches are horrific !
The location was very convenient. Walkable to train and bus stations, and hop on hop off bus stop. Many convenient dining options on the block. Near a mall with Starbucks and other dining or shopping options. Convenient to Airlink 100 bus stop to airport. The room was simple and clean. It had a small desk and stool, chair and luggage rack. Mirror with a clothes pole and a few hangers. Comfortable bed. fold down coffee/tea area. Blow dryer. It was missing many amenities you'd want for a longer stay. There was not a dresser or closet for clothing. There was no microwave or mini fridge. There was not a safe in the room. Unlike USA, face washcloths were not provided, or top sheets. Staff was very helpful and allowed us early check in. They also helped print my boarding passes. I found the location was pricey but lower than most of the area options. Overall, a good stay.
Great location, very friendly staff, clean and big room, very good room cleaning. Check in was smooth and fast.
My husband and I stayed at Motel One-Edinburgh Princess on May 8-10 and May 18-19, 2025, at the beginning and end of a road trip around Scotland. We very much enjoyed the location (right across from Waverly Train Station), the public areas of the hotel, and the breakfast service. If we hadn’t been so tired and jet-lagged when we checked in for the first stay, I would have realized we had not been assigned to the Comfort Room-King I had booked instead of the Accessible Double we were given. We greatly appreciated the management’s efforts to ensure we were given the right room for our second stay and they even upgraded us to a city view as a gesture of goodwill. For that reason, we would recommend this hotel to other guests.
