The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and always smiling. The hotel was clean with a very comfortable bed
Fin biliggenhed, men man får ikke meget for pengene.
The room was big enough, it was clean and we had all the necessary confort. We stood only one night, but it was a nice stay. Unfortunately we had a very bad WiFi connection in the room, but the friendly staff offered us another room. The hotel is close to tram to the airport, to train station, to center. Very good location and value for money.
Wc muito pequeno e frio! Sai muito frio debaixo da bacia! Atenção ao ar condicionado do quarto, nao aquecia o quarto eficazmente. De resto tudo top! Localização, simpatia, conforto da cama.
Posizione strategica. Pulito e carino
Tutto ottimo! Noi ci eravamo già stati l anno precedente in estate! Ora ,av dicembre , potrei giusto lamentarmi del caldo eccessivo in camera. Ma niente di grave! The best place to stay in Edinburgh 😍
Brilliant location Friendly and helpful staff Great city motel Basic breakfast- limited seating at peak times
The heating in the room wasn’t working. I actually forgot to mention to hotel staff when I was checking out. I was in room 337. Otherwise the staff were friendly, the breakfast was ideal (although tables were not cleared in good time) and the bar/lounge area had a lovely cosy feel to it.
Love the refresh, the view from the room we were given was amazing, breakfast superb as always, staff friendly and helpful at all times. Such a good location too, and discounted local parking.
Great hotel and very good location just across the road from the train station the staff were very good and the rooms were very clean the bar was very nice but the service was very slow when ordering drinks but overall 10/10 we will be back again well done to motel one
My go to hotel in Edinburgh. Comfortable, friendly and brilliantly situated.
We love this hotel, its central, clean, comfortable, the rooms are well insulated against noise. We enjoy the continental breakfast. The staff are friendly, we have stayed here twice and will definitely return
Love this hotel. Perfect location and very clean and cosy. I will stay there again. Only negative is the there where to little power in the shower.
Spotlessly hotel Room cleaned everyday Friendly staff, very helpful Perfect location opposite Christmas markets 2min walk to Royal mile ,Edinburgh castle and other attractions Train station is across the road from hotel. We will definitely be back. Stayed at hotel 27th November 2025 for 3 nnighrs.
perfect stay situation and breakfast. I recommended this place for family who will came in march 2026!!!
Motel one on princess street, the heart of Edinburgh so easy to get around all day, car park just a three minute walk, hotel is surrounded by shopping centres, bars, pub, parks, train station and restaurant. Couldn’t fault the room one bit. Comfy warm and clean. Showers hot and good pressure. Obviously there was an increase due to the Christmas markets making our one night stay a bit more expensive however, we said we would be definitely back and we would always stay in the same hotel due to it’s convenience.
Friendly and helpful staff on reception and also involved with providing breakfast. Our room was very clean and comfortable with a lovely view of Princes Street. The only problem was that we could not get internet access in our room, we had to be in the lounge area to be able to use the internet. Other than that, we were very happy with the hotel facilities.
The direction to my room is very difficult to navigate. There are multiple stairs and steps that make it hard to move my luggage to the room. Also, the room doesn't have fan-only option for its heating system so the air gets stuffy inside. For the price, I don't think it's worth it.
Arrival experience not great. Room was meant to be prepaid but there was a mix up. No Wi-Fi in bedroom. Service at bar was slow and disjointed
I always stay in this hotel when in Edinburgh as I love the location, hotel and the staff are very friendly. Unfortunately, the cost of a stay in Edinburgh does now reduce the number of occasions I travel
We really enjoyed our stay especially as we were using a voucher we had received to make up for a very poor experience in the glasgow Motel one. The room was lovely spacious although we did have to keep some curtains closed all the time as there was outside public stairs where people would walk by and be able to see into our room. We did arrive quite early that day and tried to check in a bit early which we were told our room wasnt ready which was fair enough. However we were told to come back at 3pm and it would be ready by then so we did this to find that it still wasnt ready and it was 20 past 3 before we were actually able to check into our room. Bed was really comfy and had a good night sleep and breakfast although no hot food was really nice and again was included with.our voucher am not sure I would pay the price charged for a breakfast that wasn't hot.
Second time staying at this hotel. Staff are lovely and always helpful, let us store out bags on arrival early. Room was clean, although the TV was a bit of a pain to get to switch off and not onto the fire screen. Location is great for the markets and general exploration. Room was nice and dark in the morning so got a good sleep. Pillows were so comfy. Only gripes were that breakfast does feel a little limited, but is advertised as continental so knew it wouldnt be cooked breakfast, and there was no normal bread for toast, just olive bread. All hotels seem the same but dont give enough milk for the tea/coffee in room. I wasnt sure if there was food available at the bar, was on 3rd floor with my son so couldn't be bothered coming back down to check, but something in the room of what is available would be useful. Will use hotel again, hopefully a bit cheaper next time!
The staff were friendly, helpful and even keen to learn Gaelic. We look forward to returning next year. Many thanks
Tutto bellissimo,’posizione, colazione, pulizia,’comodità letto e silenzio
I had a great experience. I would have given it a 10 if the WiFi worked in the room.
Location was excellent, but room was incredibly basic. I was on the 6th Floor, which was two lifts and cross 5th floor trek on the way to get to. Room was in the roof, very hot (from heating) and aircon made little difference. Light and air available from a tiny window that could only partially be opened. Nowhere to hang clothes, but 3 useless wardrobes with shelves. Staff very pleasant and helpful and location great in an amazing city, hence the 6 score, but overall disappointing and won't stay again.
Great hotel located in a perfect spot to explore Edinburgh, close to shops, so many restaurants to choose from and amazing tourist attractions. Enjoyed a lovely room overlooking Princes Street, bed was really comfy and huge, good shower and aircon/heating, the bar was a nicely decorated and the buffet breakfast was ideal, loved that they had drawn faces on the eggs to show soft or hard boiled, would recommend this hotel for the friendly staff, location, comfortable room and great breakfast
Very disappointed that there was no Wi-Fi in the hotel. I enquired about it at the Reception desk and was always fob off with “We are aware of the issue and it should be fixed tomorrow as we are waiting for a part” which really wasn’t good enough! There was a very poor phone signal as well. I stayed at the hotel for five days and was in Edinburgh for research purposes and the lack of Wi-Fi and phone signal really hampered my progress. I was disappointed by the quality of the mattress and pillow and also the other facilities in the room. The lighting in the room was a bit on the dark side. Lack of any “extras” made your accommodation appear more on the budget side. I spent a considerable amount of money to stay at you hotel and I really felt it was a bit of a ripoff. On the plus side the majority of the staff were welcoming and friendly. I hope you will consider my comments and try to make improvements to your hotel experience.
Great location , clean and comfortable rooms , friendly staff
Stayed here in November 2025 as we had tickets to a show at the Playhouse. It is very close to the train station too. Hotel was clean, cosy and compact. Rooms at front are soundproofed. The Wi-Fi was not working during our stay. Breakfast a bit basic and disappointing.
Überaus freundlichen und hilfsbereites Personal.
The hotel is very well located right over from the station. Our room whilst a decent size was very stuffy. You cant control the temperature aside from opening the window but it was too noisy to have that open through the night. Even the air vent on the window being open was too much and you could hear bins being emptied, people talking and then in the morning building work. The pillows were two different shapes and not comfortable, we had to get additional towels to put under one to make them comfy enough to sleep on. I appreciate pillow preference is a personal thing but options should be available. The WiFi was also down in the rooms for the duration of the stay which the staff didnt think was an issue and kept saying it was free however I wouldn't book a hotel where WiFi wasnt available in the rooms, on a city break you want to be able to relax for periods in your room but the lack of WiFi put is off doing this as we couldn't watch things without it being on the TV or having to go into the bar area to download them first and then return to the room. Aside from that the staff were friendly and did try and help if we had a problem but I wouldn't chose to stay here again. We stayed at the other motel one across the town and it was nicer and quieter.
Helpful staff clean rooms WiFi didn't work in room during our stay
Lovely hotel, rooms clean and comfortable Staff very friendly and welcoming Location good We had a good experience at this hotel and enjoyed the bar. We will definitely be back next year
Super Hotel in sehr guter Lage ! Alle waren sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Würde einen Aufenthalt empfehlen und gern wiederkommen:)
We really enjoyed our stay, couldn’t fault the hotel at all. The room was spotless, staff were welcoming and friendly. The free upgrade to a room with a beautiful view of the Old Town and the Castle was a lovely unexpected surprise but very appreciated. We would definitely stay again.
Für Motel One grosses Zimmer mit super Aussicht. Bequemes Bett.
Great location and facilities, only issue was no hot water in our shower however we were moved to a new room straight away to fix the issue
Staff very welcoming and could not do enough for you.
Hotel is in a fantastic location. Just off Royal Mile & opposite Waverley train station & Princes St gardens. Would definitely stay here again.
Excellent overnight stay! Room upgrade very much appreciated. Couldn’t be much closer to the train station.
Staff were amazing nothing was ever too much. The hotel is SO central and perfect location. The only downside to our stay was the toilet had was running into the bowl for 15 minutes after being flushed. Which in the scheme of things is not that much of a big deal..
Perfect location, wonderful staff, lovely rooms with an awesome view. We were even able to stay in the lounge well after checkout until our departure time. Genuinely would go back. Only 2 small negatives. No draws in room so nowhere for smalls. And not a fan of continental breakfast
The room was lovely we were just disappointed that there was no WiFi We understand it was not working.
Excellent hotel. Friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere. Breakfast was awesome.
We had a lovely stay, room was spotless and very comfortable.
Rooms very clean, staff were very friendly. And bar was nice
Switch on. beOne.

Günstige Designhotels in Edinburgh – dein Motel One
