We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great hotel, location, price and bar courtyard. The ONLY slight negative we had was the view from our bedroom, the binyard, but to be fair was covered, but the pile of rubbish at a neighbouring property was unsightly, which of course was no fault of Motel One. We just kept the curtains closed. This will not stop us returning to Motel One.
Lovely modern hotel, great location just off Grey Street. Very welcoming staff. Would stay again.
Always enjoy Motel One & overall very good. Beds and bedding excellent. Quiet. Everything works. Reception & Bar staff very good. Am a Be one member & had to ask for complementary bottle of water. Are they holding back on this? Furniture and carpets shabby & stained. Not acceptable in an otherwise great interior.
First greeting wasnt the best. I didn’t manage to get the lady’s name who booked us in at reception. They were very abrupt and felt like she was assessing us on looks and put us into a category that I shouldn’t have been there. We had just travelled over 6 hours in very hot muggy weather, walked across the city where we had parked our car dressed in only shorts and a baggy t shirt. First impressions are everything and this just put us off the whole stay, we didn’t even want to pay for the upgrade for breakfast and went else where due to this first experience. Room was spacious but had snot on the throw cushions that were placed on the bed ( we didn’t report at the time due to receptionist and our experience ). Other than that the hotel is greatly located centre of town, an arms throw to restaurants / pubs / shopping etc. Air con in rooms made the stay a little more bearable in this weakened heat. Bathroom all clean with walk in shower. All clean and nicely presented. WiFi was good for catching up on messages and socials etc. I would like to point out all other staff were absolutely great, it was just one that let the experience down. We even left our bags on checkout with them so we could grab lunch in town with the newly weds we had travelled up to see and be apart of their special day over this recent weekend.
We have stayed afew times in this hotel as its central for were we go and has friendly staff and good clean rooms love it and reasonably priced
Staff were absolutely brilliant place was spotless
Love Motel one and always a preferred option, staying in another up in Glasgow soon. Room size adequate and location was superb. Staff helpful and polite no complaints there. Negatives however would be the curtains in the room, no privacy mesh curtain you’d normally find so had to put the room in a slight darkness or leave yourself with an open window area that had no privacy tint. The curtains didn’t block out the sun either so I was awoke around 5am by a light room. It was a warm day but the room cooling system wasn’t adequate and my sleep was terrible due to this. No fridge in the room is also a negative. All in all I will continue to use motel one as I have done for years but this negative experience has made me question if I should try other brands when selecting hotels in the future. Kind regards, Ross
It was a cool calm oasis in the heatwave. Reception excellent Breakfat buffet excellent Staff efficient and friendly Room spacious and cool Bed c9mfortable Room good Negative: no plug in wash basin not very ec o friendly Shower gel bottle very difficult to use in sshower Horrible cup for coffee 8n room Water pressure very low on floor 5 Bathroom not cleaned in 3 night stay
Lovely room, staff were nice and efficient . I like to sleep with the window open but was disturbed by a constant very loud dripping sound.
location excellent, staff friendly and helpful and bar /lounge outdoor seating etc very good. would have prefered choice of draft lager but minor point and more preferance. upgraded for a city view but not really what i expexted unless you consider top of bridge and carhedral a view, saw more of rooms opposite. did pay for breakfast prior to arrival and expected some hot choices not just continental, fir us it was not wirth the money we paid however there was plenty who it would appeal and a good choice for them. if it was explained when i phoned up i would not have had it. that said it was a very enjoyable stay and i would defiantly return again
Nice modern property, interior lobby area very impressive. Room nice and spacious. Good location to reach all downtown sites, quayside etc. Very pleasant and helpful staff. I deducted one point only because I prefer rooms that do not have any carpeting. Enjoyed my stay and would recommend.
I'd like to mention CHARLIE on reception. I've travelled for 30 plus years and she is the first to make me feel a hotel was my home for ge night. Huge thanks and she is a credit to your organization.
No restaurant was strange, no pints only bottles, TV didn't work, very expensive bar (£11 for a medium glass of wine?). Decor was lovely & outdoor area was fantastic, service very good, everything else fine
Great central location and value for money. Room is pretty basic, though well kept and clean. Would be nice if rooms felt a little more special, as a lot of effort is clearly made in the reception, lounge and bar area. We did enjoy our stay though and the staff were very friendly.
Can't fault the comfort of the bed, friendly staff and would be happy with the price IF the TV was working. I understand these things happen but let's face it this is a budget hotel and when there's nothing in the room other than a bed and a tv, it's a shame when you can't watch anything. Would have been nice to be given something to make up for it. Having said that, I would come back (when the tvs are fixed) as I had a great sleep and the location was brill for my early start at work.
Tv not working !!! When inquired, was told won’t be working you should have been advised at counter . Told the person no one informed me of it!!!! Internet intermittent!!!! Won’t be staying at your hotel again !!! Waste of money!!
Comfy room, helpful staff, reliable value
Wonderful location and hotel. Friendly staff
Staff welcoming, friendly and helpful as always. Room clean and comfortable. Only negative was, once again, the tv which was no signal most of the time
Brilliant staff, nice room and even contacted me when I left property there. Highly recommend
Our stay at motel one was great, staff were really friendly and helpful. The bar was great, outside terrace was lovely too. Couldn’t fault the room and the bed was super comfy. I’d recommend and certainly hope to be back soon. The shower wasn’t the best but worked fine… the bathroom was rather wet afterwards.
Lovely hotel, friendly staff Just no waste bin in the room and there were clips and dust on the side of the window ledge
Hotel bar was lovely, room was basic but clean and comfortable. Breakfast basic but done the job.
Clean and comfortable, friendly staff - nothing to bring to your attention.
We enjoyed our stay. Staff were great.
Great location. Helpful staff. 24 hour bar.
great rooms. comfy bed and friendly staff
Nice hotel in the centre of Newcastle. Quite personable and with a lot of character. The room was very small but not an issue for me.
Staff could not have been more friendly and helpful! They made our stay! Hotel was clean and in a great location.
From the time we rang the hotel to make our booking direct, to the check-in and check-out process the staff were incredibly pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful.
We love Motel One Newcastle. Perfectly located, a few minutes walk from the train station, on a lovely cobbled street. The staff are always very friendly. Rooms are well planned and very comfortable. The sun terrace is a great area to relax.
From the name of the hotel, I had very low expectations thinking it would be like a Formula 1. I could not have been more wrong, it had a friendly 24 hr reception, beautiful bat and outdoor area, comfortable lounge and a very substantial continental breakfast. The room was not huge but well equipped, with a work desk, comfy chair, a modern large shower room and comfortable bed.
Really nice hotel. Gorgeous decor. Room was good for one night - no issues. Would have preferred some cooked buffet options at breakfast. I expect the hotel charges more than it would cost me to walk round the corner to Costa. That's fine as long as its clear on the booking. Would definitely stay again and just not have breakfast..
All good except shower cold water only
I had a very enjoyable experience staying at Motel One in Newcastle on a business trip. Rooms were clean and had everything I needed. The staff were extremely helpful and very welcoming . The hotel is situated in the centre of Newcastle so ideal for business travellers or sightseeing.
There was a lot of noise over night. I was in room 451 and you could hear bottles being dropped into skips outside up until 2 am and then the waste recycling lorry collecting from these skips from 5am. Exceptionally loud with large volumes of glass / bottles being dropped into the recycling each time. Dues to disturbed nights sleep for 3 nights I would not stay again.
Check in a little slow as a huge group had arrived and only one person on the desk initially but didn't have to wait too long. Room was great, large bed, TV, decent sized bathroom. All I needed for an overnight with work. Not loads of noise from outside or corridor. And for once not boiling hot as many hotel rooms can be in summer. Breakfast was really good, plenty of options - yogurt, boiled egg, cold meats, breads and pastries. A little chaotic when it got busy, but still manageable.
I came for the Atomicon Conference and stayed here - it was a pleasant experience and the staff were very friendly in checking me in etc. It’s very local to the town centre too.
Loved everything about the hotel - room design, facilities, cleanliness, and all the staff were very helpful and friendly - would definitely stay again, thank you!
