Excellent location. Extremely comfortable bed, spacious room, clean bathroom. I enjoyed the bar and lounge areas and was able to hold a short family meeting there in great comfort. Appreciated the high quality of glassware and service. Breakfast was high quality despite being only continental – a great, healthy selection was served. Staff were outstanding in their helpfulness and friendly smiles, both at reception, at the bar and at breakfast. Housekeeping staff knock on your door in the morning despite the 12pm checkout time. I have no idea why they do this. (I was dressed, so it didn’t bother me, but I wasn’t budging till 12.) A HUGE issue that lets this hotel down, however, is the noisy manufacturer’s yard behind and alongside the hotel. The noise resembles a large metal object being rolled downhill every five minutes AT DAWN, and is extremely loud. Forklift trucks are also operated at this time. The noise seems to stop at around 9am, so is probably connected to the loading of goods that must be prepared during the night and delivered in the hours after dawn. It’s intermittent rather than continuous, which is possibly how it gets around the laws prohibiting loud noises before 7am. It went through my wax earplugs – nothing worked. This noise will disturb all rooms in the corridor around room 237. This is the hotel’s only fault, so it’s a shame you don’t address it by avoiding allocating the rooms affected, or at least warning guests so that we have a choice.
Lovely hotel staff were excellent room was clean and modern and well worth the money for 2 nights
Motel One was a great hotel at an excellent price, the service was perfect and I wouldn't change a thing!
Clean and comfortable, super friendly staff!
Definitely stay again
Great price, location brilliant.
Plus points- the majority 1. It was an excellent location- both generally, and for where I wanted to be. Really well-appointed. 2. Although compact, room was very pleasant- bedroom and bathroom 3. Reception very dusky and impressive- sophisticated for a mid-market hotel. 4. Breakfast was excellent, and I never eat breakfast. 5. Breakfast area very welcoming- design, colour and ambience were right. 6. Reception staff -the ones you speak to- were incredibly helpful and pleasant 7. The other areas -bar/alfresco/waiting area overlooking High Bridge- were genuinely attractive 8. It was a shame I couldn't have stayed longer- and said as much to reception when I checked out. 9. I've recommended it to friends who travel for work 10. My first time in Newcastle and this was an excellent base and a place to return to. 11. The wifi was consistent- it's amazing how often this isn't. Not negatives, but perhaps some pointers for improvement 1. Don't email in German or invoice in German. It is baffling and very silly. 2. The TV was a little erratic- hundreds of channels and only about a dozen worked. Some (Skynews, Film 4) would just disappear. I'm from the UK and even I find the BBC/ITV/C5 pap a bit dreary. It also has no radio stations and was very sluggish to operate.. 3. Perhaps make the coffee/tea are a bit more obvious- perhaps a little stand above the cupboard where these were hidden (I'd missed the tiny sign on the door flap on the first night) 4. I had paid extra for a "view" but my view was largely of another set of hotel rooms opposite. I could just about make the top of one spire. But that was a view. It was a view in the literal sense, not in the pleasant/captivating sense. Room was 638. 5. Perhaps two bins, rather than one? (bathroom *and* bedroom) 6. Perhaps remove stains/furniture with stains from the room- it undermines everything else the hotel can be proud of.
Brilliant hotel lovely friendly staff, comfy beds, no noise at night. Only took 1 point off as they don’t do cooked breakfast all continental but overall really fab enjoyed our stay
It is a lovely entrance and bar and the rooms are clean but the wallpaper was peeling and the hairdryer didn't work, I don't think we would stay again
We stay here regularly when we enjoy shows in Newcastle. It never disapoints
Nice ambience, to hotel, I did not like room 208 it was too cramped.
I spent one night on a visit to Newcastle. The location is excellent and the hotel well appointed and stylish. The staff were delightful and couldn’t have been more helpful. The breakfast was very good and the value for money was very good. What stopped it being 10 out of 10 was the duvet. I was far too hot and couldn’t do anything about it. But the pillow was very comfortable. It would be better if there was alternative bedding to a too warm duvet.
Excellent stay,Great location and staff were really friendly and helpful.think it’s about our third stay there and would definitely do so again.
Friendly, helpful staff. Nice area to lounge downstairs and free tasty drinking water available. Could do with more privacy in the room from apartment opposite. When doors banged shut in rooms next to me my room shook. Can the noise from doors and people be reduced. Signs needed to discourage people having long loud conversations in the corridor at night. Why are the bed covers tucked in so low on the bed that they have to be untucked otherwise they only cover half a person?
Great location, right on was clean and good size. Only issue was the room was very warm during the night but this could have been our fault not looking at air con system.
Good value stay in the heart of Newcastle. Staff were very friendly, room was a little small but still good, as was the breakfast. Bed was very good.
Such a good hotel. Always love staying here staff are incredible very nice and helpful. Comfy beds. Lovely rooms. It’s awesome every time.
Quick and efficient check-in, excellent location, super friendly staff and very comfortable bed! Which is perfect and all I need
Quiet comfortable and lovely breakfast
Very comfortable bed Spacious room Bathroom smelled of urine Shower didn’t drain adequately so flooded a little
Location the best. Great room. Wi-Fi was awful. It desperately needs to be improved.
Helpful reception staff. First floor corridor had a skip containing old flooring and an industrial looking floor covering stripper. Room directly opposite boxing gym so had to close the curtains most of the time including at 6.30am due to opening hours of gym. Kettle plugged in behind curtain so had to take care. Carpet and lamps dirty. Bed and pillows comfy. No waste bin in room only bathroom.
Reception, bar and dining area = decor was modern stylish and very sophisticated looking. Lots of seating and various areas to sit. Included an outdoor area too! Staff= extremely friendly, polite, informative and helpful. Very welcoming. Room= basic but clean. Breakfast was a basic continental but a good time bracket to dine in. Bonus was a late checkout! Overall a satisfied stay for what we needed.
Fabulous hotel right in the mix of everything!!! Spotlessly clean , lovely staff , Thank you, we will be back soon !
Great location
Everything was excellent except for the tv which is too complex to operate and even when you sort of get it is slow with very limited channels.
Excellent location and staff. Very comfortable. Extra paper cups in the room would have been good but, on the whole, excellent value for money.
Another fabulous stay in this well appointed hotel. Staff as ever go above and beyond. Room and hotel immaculate. Wide variety of options at breakfast. The only reason this isn’t a 10 is because wi fi kept cutting out - long periods without access to internet.
I’ve stayed here a number of times and it’s a great hotel. Superb location. Lovely bar area. Modern facilities and friendly staff. Excellent!
Lovely hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were spotless and comfortable. Breakfast tasty. Excellent value for money in a central location.
The hotel has a calm and adult environment. Location is great. The bed was comfortable. All very clean. Don't like the paper cups. There is not much space to unpack a suitcase and store clothes but if you are on a short stay this won't matter.
Outstanding receptionists welcome from Jordan Thank you very much Looking forward to our Anniversary stay 4/5 June.
Prefer parking but found suitable place not too far away. I understand markup for staff and corkage etc but price of a drink was high. Minor moan, enjoyed my stay.
Room was clean and presentable, however bad drain smell from shower, not over powering but evident on entering bathroom. Pillows were of mixed variety, size and softness. Paper cups in rooms for tea and coffee.
Reception gent lovely and warm greeting. Room ceiling tile missing near door. Paper cups in room not ideal, understand people may want a tea on the run. Not a very green option as will always need replacing even if recycled material. Pillows simply need sorting either rock hard or a soft square! Breakfast wasn’t great at all small selection of cereal. If keeping it simple do it really well!!. One staff member supported this area. Simple things and easy to sort would then be top end scores as would service the target of a lovely environment to rest your head on an overnight trip.
Central hotel clean and friendly staff. Almost didn’t realise had to check in online and pay before staying until received a reminder email to say if I didn’t do this before 6 pm they would cancel room!
Really friendly helpful staff on reception Room comfortable Great location What more could you ask
No twin rooms and £13 for a continental breakfast.
The hotel lobby was beautiful and the staff were excellent, I would suggest updating the bedrooms slightly as they were quite dated and basic and could do with an iron in the room although easily accessible at reception, the bathrooms in the room were fine along with the bed itself. The breakfast wasn't great for the cost, I ate 2 pieces of toast both days as I had expected a typical breakfast (sausage, scrambled egg, beans) but this was not available.
Generally very good thank you however the TV was not working and this is always a part of the hotel experience that we enjoy as we do not get the chance to watch much TV at home but otherwise great thanks. 😊
Brilliant and elegant hotel. Was a bit concerned at how close it was to the party area in Newcastle but had lovely quiet room to the ear of the hotel. Rooms are small but have everything you need, spotlessly clean. Staff were excellent.
The hotel was lovely, reception staff very helpful, bar staff less so. Breakfast was very good, breakfast staff accommodating. The room was ok, bed and pillows very comfortable, but the room felt quite tired and dated. The carpet let it down mostly, and no net screening on the windows so the room is overlooked when curtain open.
Great location, friendly staff and nice clean modern rooms.
Central location with comfortable accommodation and friendly staff.
All fine, room was not properly cleaned though. Bathroom in particular had hairs visible from previous occupant, a dirty sink and a half used roll of toilet paper.
My first contact with this hotel chain. Overall I’m very impressed and would stay at Motel One’ Newcastle, or any of their others, again . Good central location near main station enabled me to explore much of this attractive and interesting city on foot. Friendly, helpful staff. Cleverly designed rooms. Great breakfast options (though missing small , usual canteen style, trays to carry selections over to table in one, rather than having to make a couple of trips). Always want a room with a window which actually opens and Motel One, unlike some “climate controlled” chains we could mention, provided. A big plus. Less positive was that even up on the 3rd floor one could hear on going noise from their, or someone’s, big ventilation/ extractor system down in the courtyard which seemed to go on 24/7. Luckily I could sleep through it but that might not have been possible with windows open on a lower floor. No score given for wi fi. Didn’t attempt to use.
Very nice property, rooms and customer service team. Would definitely choose to stay here again over others I've stayed at in Newcastle, including the maldron and the hilton. Great vfm
This was our third stay at a Motel One (previously at Brussels and Edinburgh) and we like them very much. Check in was friendly and efficient; room was clean; the bed was very comfortable indeed. No noise intrusion, in spite of the city centre location. We like the Motel One shower rooms; smart and practical. The breakfast suits us very well - a good choice of breads, cheeses, meats, cereals and preserves.. Constant attention by the staff to restocking the buffet and clearing tables. Downsides? The location is central but the street outside is fairly shabby; the views from the windows are nothing special.
Great Hotel & location, easy, well managed check in, hotel was clean with a modern feel to it. Room (I stayed in 140) was a little small but was spotless & had everything thing you need. Would have gave it 10 BUT .. why put 2 single mattresses on a double frame ??? WORST nights sleep ever, one was rock hard & one was super soft but i kept falling down the middle … so uncomfortable !!!!!! USB charging points … one broken … other one not working !!!! Although the bed spoilt my stay … would definitely return if this wasn’t the case next time !!!!!
All ok - no complaints. Check in process v easy & smooth All staff around the hotel polite, attentive and helpful.
