Air condition was basically useless. Room very hot. Air con turned down to lowest setting and still remain too hot throughout stay. Also, I have reported an issue via email in terms of issue I had with sockets. Mobile phone would not charge properly and appears to was making concerning noises (static). Also after a few seconds of using my own Personal hair dryer that I had travelled with, it overheated and blew. Having reported the issues I was told there were no issues. no left having to purchase a new hair dryer at a costs of £150.00
Overall very good but the room did have an issue with the ceiling where the metal ceiling looked like it could come loose. Brought it to receptions attention and it was sorted by the maintenance team. Was something that ideally could have been spotted before I went in the room.
Me and my partner stay in motel ones every chance we get when traveling and we love them, the Newcastle one is lovely and on our last visit it was really warm outside and the hotel offered us with a fan for our bedroom and it made a huge difference! Thank you again. The beds are the comfiest we’ve slept in you’re guaranteed a lovely nights sleep!
Good location but a bit worn out
I have stayed at the Newcastle Motel one a few times. I do feel when it is so stressful to park there it is not too much to ask for staff to help you with your luggage to your room, after very long journey. They eyed each other up and one lady told me when I questioned I was being demanding asking for help. Why work in hospitality I commented! .
Hotel is lovely, reception area is modern and well kept. Bar area is beautiful and represents the hotel as a whole well. The rooms are quite small and basic although everything you need is there however I would have liked a mini fridge as an option. I will say the room we were in on the 6th floor was excruciatingly hot, not warm but hot. The heat hit as soon as the door was opened. We did put the air con on the coolest setting and have a fan running for the entirety of our stay however this just circulated warm air around the room. There was a heat wave during our visit so we don’t blame this entirely on the hotel but the air con definitely could be better. It was impossible to sleep in the heat and a task to get dressed without sweating excessively. The bed is one of the most comfortable hotel beds we have stayed in.
The check in was long, I have never known a 25 minute queue at check in. Staff were lovely though. Air con not working and cushions dirty.
Rooms clean and comfortable but the room myself and friends were in was very basic for what we paid from booking.com was unable to book breakfast for my friends however mine came with breakfast.
Can’t fault the room or the staff ! It was so warm the weekend we were there and the aircon was pretty ineffective, might want to think about an upgrade.
The reception and bar area of the hotel is nice but the corridors and rooms are looking shabby and dated and the carpets are frankly disgusting! The aircon in our room was useless and you guys need to get rid of those revolting plastic cups - they are repulsive!
I’m a big fan of Motel one , have stayed at the Newcastle hotel a number of times as well as Manchester. I’m always very impressed with the friendliness of the team and general vibe of the hotel. Unfortunately this time the room was so hot that zero sleep was had , I know there’s been a heatwave but fans should be made available or just put into the rooms.
TV didn’t work and couldn’t programme/retune channels. WIFI was really poor and dropped in and out. Room lacked ventilation, the aircon seemed to be blowing warm air even on the lowest setting.
Overall the hotel was pretty good and represented fair value for money. Staff were helpful although the night security could do with a crash course on customer facing skills. Disappointed that the WiFi and television didn’t work in the rooms. Great location too. Not sure I would be recommending Dean Gate Car Park as ended up with 2 penalty notices on the car for a 2 night stay. Please feel free to contact me on holdenjac5@gmail.com

The hotel was nice enough but there was no air conditioning and we struggled to sleep both nights we were there due to the heat.
Room is dirty and dull

Generally good. Room a little tired around the edges. A single duvet cover on a double bed for the first night. Didn't matter as I was staying alone but a bit odd. Room temperature problematic, you just couldnt cool the room, the window opens a fraction and the room system is just a fan, no aircon.
Hot! The room we were in was so hot. The AC did nothing. The window got so hot it was like an oven. You really need to sort that room out. We left earlier than expected due to the heat and barely slept that night.
Nice clean hotel. Could use information leaflets in the rooms because reception didn't say or ask if we'd be having breakfast, nor did they say if it was included or the price of the breakfast should we have wanted one. (I didn't do the booking so had no information on this prior to arrival)
Lovely hotel. Room was clean and comfortable but nowhere to put anything. I had clothes on the window sill.
Generally good. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Check in was quick and simple. Room was clean and tidy with a good view towards the river. Bathroom lights need repairing, two bulbs dead so quite dark.
The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was delicious, and the location can't be beat. Unfortunately, our room smelled like someone had been sick. The staff changed our room, and obviously this is a problem of a guest not the hotel, but it was not great. When we got to our new room, the cups were not clean. I don't expect much from a hotel, tbh, but these two things were pretty bad. But we slept well, it is quiet, and the front desk people were super friendly and helpful.
The air conditioning did not work in the room and the hot water was only warm. Never got hot. The breakfast offered limited options for foreigners.
Friendly and helpful staff. Bar and seating area very nice, fresh and had a modern feel. The room: outdated, not properly clean. Smell coming from bathroom. As I was staying only for one night, I did not raise this.
Modern, clean hotel. Ideal central location in the heart of the City. Rooms comfortable and modern. Reception staff very friendly and efficient. Excellent value. Only negative, there was no one on the bar when we returned to the hotel at 10 pm and could not find anyone at reception to make them aware.
Good location & value for money. Rooms very warm , air con not sufficient contributed by excess noise in the morning from bottle bins & seagulls !!

Great place to stay, and great price. Lovely staff and breakfast. I'd have given it a 10, but there was a very strong smell of the drains in my bathroom.
We loved the M1 I was not sure what it would be like and it over exceeded our expectations!! Location was perfect, beds were so comfortable, rooms had everything we needed, staff were the most friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay in another M1
Lovely hotel, fab location. Room clean and tidy very welcoming. Breakfast expensive for what it actually is.
The room decor was awful woodchip paper with skirting boards ripped off. No waste bin in room, bedside light not working. Dirty settee, would not even sit on it.
A really pleasant welcome; I was able to leave my luggage until check in time. The room was of a good size with a very comfortable bed, a really good bathroom with fluffy towels. Quiet at night; I particularly liked the outside space and a superb breakfast with a wide range of local products. Nothing to complain about! Preis Leistungsverhältnis ausgezeichnet!

Although there’s nothing to fault on the hotel, a car park on site would have been more accommodating. Also would have been nice to have a wardrobe in the bedroom as we didn’t have one. I would stay here again overall very pleased with our stay.

Motel One in Newcastle is very well located, and the staff are very charming. The only issue was a room full of dust and the bathroom with stools left around the toilet... Now, it is forbidden to leave the dog even for 1-2 hours to enjoy a restaurant the night or a museum. I guess it is to prevent people from leaving their dog all day, but they should be more flexible with owners that I well trained dog. To finish with a good point, the bar is very nice and cosy.
Overall great hotel for price. The rooms are on basic side but do always sleep well which is the main thing. Only improvement is for the rooms to have smart TVs so we can cast Netflix, Prime etc.
Lovely clean room, staff all excellent and welcoming, easy check-in/out. Breakfast was expensive and no hot items. Wifi went down on one day but was fixed by the next. Would stay again.

Great service and great room, perfect hotel for a little get away!
The hotel is advertised as having air conditioning but there was only a fan vent with a bit of cooler air. And the window only opened a fraction so was very stuffy. The booking also suggested breakfast included but once booked the small print said no breakfast, which I didn't notice until I checked in. Room was okay and adequate supply of coffee. WiFi was down temporarily. Not many TV channels available.
It was as good as always.
