The location for the hotel was perfect. Staff are super friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable, clean and super trendy. This hotel is perfect for a stay in Edinburgh.
Staff very warm and friendly. We only stayed for one night wished we had been able to stay long. This is the only place I wou stay when visiting Edinburgh.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean with no attention to detail spared. The room we stayed in was very quiet, no street noise and no noise from other guests. Loved the fake fire on the TV. Great buffet breakfast. I felt very relaxed. Brilliant hotel and I was sorry to leave. I will definitely stay again and will be recommending it to people.
We arrived at 8 am after leaving home at 4-30 am. that morning. We were both very tired and were hoping that we could leave our luggage there until our room was ready. When we spoke to reception we asked what time we could possibly have our room. The gentleman at reception told us that he would try and get a room for us there and then. So we were able to take occupancy of a lovely room at 8-30 am. This for us was a brilliant start to our short break as we imagined we would have to wander around or sit in reception for about 6 hours until our room was ready. Overall we found the reception staff extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. The hotel was lovely, very clean, and for £7-50 the buffet breakfast was lovely. Would certainly reccomend this hotel .
excellent location, friendly staff. the only down side was we found the room a bit cold
Don't change anything, Motel one is perfect !
We stayed here the previous weekend on the 4th floor & had an enjoyable stay. This weekend however was a different story. We were in a tiny attic room on the 7th floor. The room was cramped, dark & felt claustrophobic. The room was very hot & we could not alter the heating, The only way to cool the room down was top open the window but this meant the room was very noisy due to the traffic etc outside. We had to try to sleep on top of the beds but didn't get much sleep at all. The hotel is clean & the staff friendly but a few things do, in my opinion, let the hotel down. These are 1) there is no bars of soap in the bathroom 2) the pillows are like giant marshmallows so far too soft & no choice in room of harder or additional pillows 3) no socket in bathroom for electric shaver 4) can't retain water in basin which seems to contradict hotel's environmental message in trying to save water as have to leave tap running to have a wash/shave etc.
A very pleasant stay at Motel One. The room was spotless, bed comfortable and the shower was fab! A very central hotel close to all amenities and would recommend to anyone for a short stay in Edinburgh.
Ended up here when we decided at the last minute to return to Edinburgh for a night before flying home. I really wish we had known about this place and stayed here instead for the earlier part of our trip. Room was very nice and everyone was very friendly. In a nice area, too. Highly recommend!
Pillows too soft, did not sleep too well because of this.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Bedroom was lovely and clean.
Hotel was in a perfect location, good facilities and friendly staff. Would recommend the hotel, the only downside to our stay is that our room was cold even with the heating turned up we still required extra duvets.
Staff were very helpful, for example, provided peppermint tea bags when requested. I had a disabled access room which was very spacious, but the shower head was low making showering my hair difficult. There was shower gel but no soap on the sink. I suggest a soap dispenser would be very helpful, particularly for disabled customers.
We've had a lovely time at Motel One. We stayed there for two night, without breakfast. The Hotel is clean, the staff was very friendly and the free WIFI access made our stay much easier. Thanks for the good service!
I cannot say enough about the staff at Motel One Edinburgh. I became very unwell, traveling alone I was naturally upset. I was so well looked after especially by Ronny, the front desk manager during my stay, and the other staff as well. And I want to apologise to the poor young men who had to clean my room after i had been very sick indeed. When I returned from the local hospital Ronny had had all my belongings packed up and I was moved into a lovely clean room for the remainder of my stay. I will be recommending this hotel to everyone. However, on the negative side, not having an in-room phone to call reception was hard for me because I was so unwell I found it hard to find the hotel number to use my mobile, and the only time I had breakfast after I had been unwell for a few days, all I wanted was a boiled egg and some juice and I still had to pay 7 pounds for this. a bit stiff I thought. Still nothing will tarnish the memory I have of how well I was looked after here. Thank you to the wonderful staff, I know its their job, but thank you for making me feel a little less afraid. Most sincerely Julie Brown safely home in Sydney Australia.
Fabulous hotel! We had a great stay. Everyone on the staff - from the housekeepers to the maintenance folks to the front desk -- was incredibly friendly, always smiling and saying hello when you walked by. The room was huge, loved the individual climate control, the view, the cleanliness ... and that incredible Black Mambo hairdryer! I have very thick hair which takes forever to dry and that thing was amazing. Too bad you can't buy it retail, or I'd snap it up in a second. This was our third Motel One we've stayed in and it was the best.
Me and my girlfriend stayed at the Motel One for 4 nights at the beginning of November. The hotel was great, very clean, good atmosphere and couldn't have been any better for getting around with it being on the Royal Mile. Would definitely recommend staying here.
We did not like our room which was supposed to have a city view and had a view on a little street. Our room was five minutes from the reception and we needed 2 lifts to reach it. I do not recommand
Nice room with enough space. Thought the bathroom was particularly good considering the price.
Small room with tiny desk. Very good bed.
Welcoming staff, room had everything we needed, was in a great location and reasonably priced.
Confusing layout in the hotel very confusing. Two rooms in the back in the "room with a view" category not rooms with a view of Edinburgh but a back street had to ask to move to a room with a view also these rooms had only two lights above the bed made it very dark and dingy. No hand soap on the bathroom, the double bed was just two singles pushed together with two single duvets. Rooms seem a bit rushed in design and over all I found the hotel to be slightly over priced. Even with these things the hotel was adequate but would choose premier inn next time
really like the concept of your budget holiday, but to be very honest I would not stay in your motel one in Edinburgh again UNLESS I was assigned a room that is easy accessible from your lifts. I have stayed twice with you over the last 6 weeks and my initial assigned rooms I had trouble to find, both were over in the Cockburn Street .I was accompanied by my wife on second visit and she could not get her head around (1)finding the room and(2)finding the toilets on basement floor and why toilets at reception are not in use. Also on this occasion arriving back to room(442) on first night heating was not working, on Saturday morning I went to reception and I met a receptionist (Claudia, lovely girl very helpful) she immediately looked after us and changed us to room(707)this really changed our impression of your motel. As I say would stay again but would be insisting on room with easy access to rooms. Location perfect.
Excellent location rooms very comfortable, bathrooms functional with excellent shower, could do with providing some hand soap for the washbasin, beds very comfortable. Staff very friendly and efficient at check in Will almost certainly be happy in recommending this hotel to anyone and use again
The staff were lovely, the hotel was spotless and more modern that I expected it to be with the price that we paid. The staff couldn't do enough for you. The bar was a little expensive though. we paid £8 for 2 drinks and I can imagine that others paid more. It would make people go out to another pub just for cheaper drink rather than having one in the hotel.
Extremely helpful reception staff. I had accidently booked the wrong day, the member of staff on shift (wish I could remember her name!) solved my problem for me efficiently and swiftly. Saved me a lot of bother and also meant I got to get to a room and a bed without any delay after a long day! Most appreciated. As always, your rooms are clean, simple, yet stylish. I always enjoy staying and make sure I book into the Edinburgh Royal (yet to try Princes Street) whenever I’m in Edinburgh. Would thoroughly recommend you.
Very pleasant friendly service booking me in when I unexpectedly arrived in Edinburgh late at night.
Hotel staff very pleasant and helpful, allowed me to view the room before booking, had a room with amazing view onto Princes Street, very central to Princes Street and Waverly station, room very nice, clean tidy, bed very comfortable and shower room lovely. Would recommend more electrical sockets in the room. Would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone. Isabella Masson
I was amazed at the cheap price for such a central location - opposite Princes Street, close to Waverley Station and a 5 minute walk uphill to the castle. The reception staff were very welcoming and friendly. My room was comfortable and spacious and the the fittings (particularly in the bathroom) were were modern and classy and not at all budget in look. A very nice short stay right in the heart of the city! Hope to return...
Lovely perfectly centrally located hotel in beautiful Edinburgh. Quite big rooms for Motel 1 standards, extremely helpful and friendly staff. We would come back any time!
Does what is says on the tin. Clean, comfortable, conveniently located and efficient.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Edinburgh, it is near to the railway station, but you would not be aware of this as we did not hear any trains all weekend.close to the Royal Mile and very close to the main shopping area.Breakfast was a very busy but there was a good selection of meats cheese yoghurts etc all of which were regularlay replenished ensuring there was no shortage of food or waitresses clearing tables.I was puzzled in our bedroom by the location of the electrical sockets as there were two outside the bathroom door and one which I eventually found next to the bed near to the floor I realised the ones near to the bathroom allowed you to use a hairdryer (which was supplied) in the bathroom. If I had one criticism it would be that although there were two long mirror in our room neither were near to a chair to allow ladies to see what they were doing when applying make up etc.If the dressingtable/desk could be relocated in the room to allow this I would have given an excellent rating.
Very basic but clean
Fantastic location, clean and friendly brilliant value for money will definately stay again and highly recommend.
We have stayed in this hotel before and would recommend it to all of our friends. Extremely clean and very close to the train station/main shopping areas etc. Also we have always found staff to be extremely efficient but courteous and friendly.
I loved this hotel. Stylish, spotlessly clean and very friendly and helpful staff. The location is excellent and the price seems very fair for what you get. Recommended!
I thought motel one was a really nice place to stay. It was clean, the staff were pleasent and helpfull and it was ideally located. Would definately use it again if back in Edinburgh.
Very good customer service. Very friendly and prompt.
I love staying at Motel One, but there were one or two little things that I think could be tightened up on. Checking in took quite a while as the only staff member at the front desk was in the process of taking a telephone booking. As I had just returned from Shanghai via London and some whole day travelling with minimal sleep, this was frustrating. The lady at the desk was polite and apologetic though and my check in was completed quickly and efficiently. There was no hand soap in my room, which I thought bizarre. There was also not enough shampoo / shower gel to do adequately for two showers. But, as I say, I love staying with Motel One, so I will be back.
A funky hotel, warm reception. I event liked the little touches like the pretend roaring fires on TV screens. Great sleep and a good breakfast.
The room was clean. Thanks! I liked the modern bathroom. More comfortable seating in the room would be welcome. The chair and ottoman were not useful for much more than holding clothes. One suggestion: sell stamps in the lobby and post items for guests.
This is my second visit to this hotel and I will be back. Staff very friendly and helpful. Perfectly placed for everything.
Room was very hot. Window could only be partially opened. The pillows were of a very poor quality too thin). Did not sleep at all! Breakfast is very poor. Service at reception and breakfast lacks a smile and friendliness. Shower very slippery (does need a grip on the wall). TV very small and total lack of power points in the room for charging Ipad and Iphone. On the desk was an electric water cooker but no socket!! All in all a very poor quality of hotel although location is great.
The location of the motel is perfect for the train station and most of the main attractions for the city. The room was clean and functional but would benefit from having more than 2 plug sockets and a small fridge and a few more coffee sachets with milk. We upgraded to a room with a view which looked out over the park which was worth the extra £10 a night. The bed we opted for was the split 180cm one which we think would have benefitted from having a mattress protector holding them together. We were offered a continental breakfast which looked pretty standard and smelt nice in the morning. The bar was nice and has most spirits but were unable to make a hot toddy. The bathroom was small and again functional and clean, freash towels and linen every day as well. Overall this is a value for money motel with really good free wifi and friendly staff, I would recommend the motel to anyone having a short visit to the city.
Everything is good.location perfect.I Will come again.
Motel One is very good value for money and in a perfect location. I enjoyed my stay enormously. The staff were friendly and helpful although the vacuuming in the morning was a little off-putting and ought to be done earlier. I had an enormous suitcase and although a member of staff helped me with it when I arrived, I wasn't offered any as I left and the lift did not appear to work. The rooms are comfortable and moderately well-appointed and clean although my television was a bit small
Ich habe mich in Motel One sehr wohl gefühlt: verkehrsgünstige Lage und sehr freundlicher Service für einen vernünfgtigen Preis.
super lage! sehr gutes preis-leistungsverhältnis. sehr gerne wieder
Sehr freundlich, sauber und gut organisiert. Gutes Preis - Leistungsverhaeltnis! Sehr gute Lage ! Weiter so :)
War und ist ein tolles Hotel direkt in Edinburgh
