The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were a nice size, bathroom was beautiful. I loved the location. My only concern was that I was traveling with 12 people. Our rooms were spread all over the place, not near each other. I know the hotel was not fully booked as I met a couple of people who walk in that day and got a room (close to mine). I think since the hotel is so big with empty rooms, we could have been closer together. If there had been phones in the room, we could have called each other and that would have helped. The location was perfect. Drink prices were extremely high. We probably would have drank more frequently in the hotel bar if prices had been more reasonable.
Lovely experience from start to finish, easy & quick check in. Room great, clean & spacious. Lovely walk in shower and fabulous views of Edinburgh. Bar very friendly and reasonably price too. Will definitely return soon.
The check in was quick with very friendly and helpful staff present at all times. Room was comfortable, clean and quiet which made our short stay very pleasant. Will definitely be returning next August.
The hotel was just as good as last year and is excellently located for all the fun of the Festival. The only reason I didn't mark the room as excellent (407) was that we could smell cigarette smoke from staff or guests smoking outside by the bins directly below our room. The staff are always courteous and helpful, the rooms clean and very comfortable and I have already recommended the hotel to a relative and they will be staying with you in October.
Excellent sound proofing of windows meant a great nights sleep in the busy centre of the city. Clean room, efficient staff.
Love it for its location, the friendliness of reception, cleanliness, the brilliant bathroom and shower,The beautiful views from our room. Rhona Panton
The accommodation and location was excellent for anyone visiting Edinburgh.
Nice clean room. Well maintained. Unusual power socket layout placement, whuch meant boiling kettle in the bathroom or on the floor... Very much liked the way your card entry into room initiated the soothing music and goldfish view....;-) Would have been useful to be able to switch off bed lights individually...
Well situated lovely clean rooms. Comfortable beds. Pleasant staff
The bed was hard. Clothes rail is over the mirror impractical. Unable to get phone signal in the room. Breakfast was not worth the nine pounds charged. Recommendation for this hotel based on location alone.
Pros: Beautiful decor ), fab location and spacious room and bathroom. Downsides: aircon not very good, smell of stale smoke in room, such a price hike for Fringe
Brilliantly positioned Motel One offers everything you need to stay in a very well designed room.
The location of the hotel is perfect for visiting Old Town: just a few steps to be on the Royal Mile. Big bedroom with stylish furniture: the missing view is not a problem. Nice and confortable bathroom with huge shower. Rich breakfast.
upsides were that the staff were very helpful, the decor is modern and clean throughout and we did appreciate the flexibility of housekeeping, plus great location. there was an issue with the wifi expiring at midnight but i explained to reception and I felt as if this would be dealt with for future guests. downside was that it was very expensive for a dark tiny room. it did have a window that was constantly overlooked by staff working in the garden / rubbish area. it's a shame the prices have increased so heavily for 2016, otherwise we would have definitely stayed again next year.
Location Perfect, Staff very friendly, Room very clean, good Hotel for short time visit Edinburgh!
Perfect location for our visit to Edinburgh for the Fringe festivel. Only complaint the cocktail menus on all the tables on the bar are out of date not good especially when on the outdated detail each costs £6.90 and in reality less available on the 1 menu displayed on the bar and all costing £7.50. The bar maid was quite stressed re all the complaints she received about this but made an excellent Mojito non the less.
I was very happy with the hotel. Service and staff were very attentive and I would return to the hotel. It wasn't plush and fancy but very well presented and the best budget hotel I have stayed in.
good location, unfortunately very high prices due to festival times even though our trip had nothing to do with the festival. room nice, but bare, modern, ok, no special ammenities, the bar was fully overpriced; tea+ in the room could have been more enticing; reception good service, leaving luggage no problem!
it was one of the best hotels we have stopped in for a long time, the rooms were beautiful and clean, the staff were excellent, breakfast very good. will stay again.
Nice sized room very friendly staff and very clean. Only complaint was poor TV with bad reception.
Loved my stay at Motel One. First class friendly staff.
General hotel facilities were good but the "no view" room had virtually no natural light with a very small window high on the wall overlooking a covered alleyway. It was impossible to tell if it was night or day.
rooms are basıc but comfortable and everday cleaning is a plus.very central. the only thing ı can say ıf there was one more flag for tea machine could be better. andd a litte refrigerator thanks. we were glad
Clean, comfortable, quiet, very service oriented and effective staff, extremely convenient location, everything worked, rooms small but very efficiently organized. Very good value! Would recommend the facility to friends and will sty there again in the future.
A really good hotel for the money and in the middle of Fringe Festival.
An absolutely perfect location for the festival. The rooms are a good size, very clean and practical. Could do with more plug points and hangers, but otherwise good. Staff on reception are lovely and helpful. Bar staff good, though there is always a busy rush from 11pm on for "nightcaps" in the bar and they really do need more staff at that time to manage it.
The hotel is in an excellent position, it was right next to station. We were able to leave our bags as soon as we got off train at 8.30am which was brilliant. Although the hotel was on a busy road it was very quiet, the rooms were large and airy. The room was very clean and tastefully decorated. It was very modern with a great view over the city. The staff were very friendly and helpful, very professional. The bar was very comfortable, ideal for relaxing after a busy day. Enjoyed my stay here and would definitely stay next time I'm in Edinburgh.
It's my third time in Motel One and I would always come again. The Location for Sightseeing is very convenient, the hotelstaff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are rather small but clean.
Very enthusiastic and helpful staff - well done to all those working esp. in reception on Sunday 16th and Monday 17th Aug. Breakfast staff also very responsive.
The hotel is clean and excellent. It is in a great location. Don´t like the continental system of single duvets. This you should offer double duvet options for British guests. Lack of simple things like soap to wash hands after using the bathroom is annoying. There could be a little more space to store cloths so you can take them from a case and insufficient hanging hangers and space.
Reception staff were brilliant at sorting out an issue. Excellent location. Couldn't fault the place for basic accommodation. Towels and bedding excellent quality. Would definitely recommend. We stayed during fringe festival therefore hotel was at full capacity however all staff were equally friendly and helpful. Good drinks selection too at the bar.
Friendly staff with good hospitality, Clean and fresh throughout the building. I Would recommend this hotel and would stay again.
We shared a family room with our 13-year-old for a long weekend. We found the room to be clean, comfortable and suitable for our needs. My only criticisms would be that the room was quite small and - given there was no hanging space for clothes - it was a little chaotic once we had unpacked. In terms of the hotel itself, we liked its fresh decor and modern styling and we enjoyed its amenities and its proximity to the centre of town (we were in Edinburgh for the Fringe festival). The staff were helpful and approachable. We would be happy to return.
Great Hotel QUALITY fittings, comfy bed. Excellent location
Enjoyed our stay - bedroom very clean, staff very friendly and helpful
Gut. Prima Design. Prima freundlicher Service. Super sauber.
sehr gute Lage, saubere Zimmer, freundliches Personal
Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt!
Frühstück gut und ausreichend, jedoch Platzmangel! Bett für 2 Erwachsene zu klein! Rezeption sehr zuvorkommend. Aussicht im Zimmer 432 auf eine Wand wo gegenüber ein Lokal war, Lärmbelästigung und wenig Licht!
positiv: sehr nette Mitarbeiter.
