Sights galore

Zurich is located in northern Switzerland at the tip of the lake that bears its name, Lake Zurich, which has a surface area of 90 km2. While Switzerland does not have an official capital – fun fact! – and Bern is where the official governmental functions are usually carried out, Zurich feels like Switzerland’s true capital. For years, the city has ranked highly for quality of life. You’ll likely see why during your trip. Among other things, you can enjoy an epic, unique and very worthwhile walk that you can start at our Motel One Zurich.

Zurich is remarkable for many reasons, not least because of the way it nestles up against the lake and encircles it. Our starting point is Pavillon Le Corbusier, the last and most colourful building by the famous Swiss architect. You’ll then make your way to the Zurich Opera Housewhere you can enjoy majestic views of the lake.
From there, you’ll be able to spot the twin-towered Romanesque Grossmünster church, the next stop on our route. You’ll then take a stroll to the Münster Bridge and the River Limmat. On the opposite bank, you’ll find the Fraumünster church with its ornate glass windows, some of which were designed by Marc Chagall. Fancy a break from sightseeing and a taste of the celebrated Swiss chocolate? Luckily, there are numerous cafés and bars in the old town where you can refuel for the last stage of the walk. This will take you past the FIFA Museum, on to the Rietberg art museum and finally to Rieter Park, Zurich’s biggest park and the perfect place to round off the day.
