Spring Fever

Our top five spring destinations

Bask in the sun
Barcelona

For those who can’t wait to catch some summer rays, Barcelona is the place to be. 20°C and nine hours of sunshine a day calls for ice cream and strolls on the beach! The best thing about our Motel One in the capital of Catalonia? Our rooms with private terraces. And don’t miss out on the Temps der Flors in Girona in May, when the streets are adorned with countless flower arrangements.

Springtime Blues
Brussels

Brussels is once again radiating with spring splendour. During the Floralia Brussels, the 14-hectare park of the Groot-Bijgaarden castle is transformed into a work of art comprising more than one million spring flowers. Less diverse, but equally impressive: the Hallerbos bluebells. For a few days in April, the undergrowth in the Halle forest turns into a blue carpet of countless fragrant flowers. You can get to Halle and the ‘Blue Forest’ by bus.

Night owls
Leipzig

Spring doesn’t just mean warmer days – it’s also the start of those mild and, most importantly, longer evenings. And Leipzig provides the perfect musical backdrop. How about the Museumsnacht Leipzig? From 6 pm to midnight, countless museums open their doors and invite you to enjoy the unique atmosphere.

Cherry blossoms in Germany
Berlin

It’s not just Japan that’s home to these famous pink flowers; Berlin also transforms into a cherry blossom paradise during spring. The natural phenomenon can be admired in Berlin from the end of March until the middle of April each year. The TV-Ashai-Kirschenblütenallee on Mauerweg is especially impressive, and the Japanese cherry blossom festival Hanami is held here annually. You can also take a stroll under a roof of pink flowers on Bornholmer Strasse.

Spring fun
Munich

Give spring the welcome it deserves at Frühlingsfest Munich. Annually in April the Munich spring festival boasts over 100 fairground rides and two large beer tents. Enjoy the wonderful beer garden in the glorious sunshine – in the Bavarian capital, there’s more than enough refreshing drinks for everyone to enjoy. For bargain hunters and flâneurs, the annual giant flea market at the Theresienwiese, which takes place yearly at the end of April, is absolutely worth a visit!
