Six Highlights, Manchester has to offer

Our favourite picks for your next city trip

Pssst!

With 24 libraries, Manchester is surely interesting for bookworms. But also for fans of unusual architecture - and yes, you can just walk in! The Central Library in St Peter's Square (directly opposite our Motel One Manchester-St Peter's Square) has impressive ceiling designs. Also stunning: the Portico Library, which has been partially converted into a pub. Or Chetham's Library, the oldest public library in Britain (Harry Potter feeling guaranteed!).

Canale Grande

The Gay Village is THE nightlife district in Manchester. Clubs and bars are particularly popular in the evenings, but even when the sun is shining, the many cafés and pubs around Canal Street are a great place to sit and people-watch. A special highlight: the annual Pride Festival in August.

Indian Delights

A bit of Bombay in Manchester! "Dishoom" serves Indian delicacies (from breakfast to dinner) in a former Masonic meeting point from the 1920s - and is modelled on the style of old Iranian cafés.
Tip: If you can't make a reservation online, just drop in directly. You can usually get a table without any complications.

Bee nice!

Manchester is buzzing on every corner: from traffic posts to floor tiles to rubbish bins: The "Manchester Bee" has been the city's emblem since the Industrial Revolution, symbolising the industriousness of the inhabitants of the city. Suggestion: The person who discovers the most will later buy a pint in the pub!

We Heart Streetart

The Northern Quarter is the creative heart of Manchester. Here you will not only find many small alternative shops, restaurants and pubs, but also street art, graffiti and overall Instagrammable spots. So keep your eyes open!

The Grand Pacific feels really ...grand. In the past, the building from 1871 housed the Gentlemen's Club for the elite of Manchester's Liberal Party.
Today, you can have your high tea or sip delicious cocktails in the halls decorated with Gothic carvings. A little tip: the toilets are also worth seeing ;-)
