For whatever reason - airport, business or shopping - a stay in your Motel One is a perfect start to any day. The craftsmen's courtyard Handwerkerhof is a particularly charming feature of Nuremberg the shopping city. Here, pewterers, glass cutters and painters, doll makers and leather bag makers offer their wares against the typical timber-framed setting. In numerous small alleys around the main market square below the castle you can find designer clothes, jewellery, shoes and antiques.

You'll be genuinely surprised at how much there is to see and do in Nuremberg!
While you can easily explore this fascinating city on your own, or you might want to find out a little bit more by joining one of the many guided tours available.

However, there is also another way of seeing this city of the world-famous Christmas market and one that is less commercial and less costly: the subterranean tour! See Nuremberg from a completely different perspective! There are a number of different tours available (check for English tour times – audio guides also available!), explore the historic fortifications and art bunkers, the conduits and the casemates.
Take an thrilling tour of discovery through the labyrinth-like and often multi-storey rock-cut vaults, or for the more bold among you, take "a walk in the dark" – explore the rock-cut beer cellars equipped with nothing but a helmet and a torch. Follow the trail of old myths and legends that have survived for centuries deep in the bowels of this historic city.

And what better way to round off a tour of the old beer cellars, than a pint and a snack in the "Hausbrauerei Altstadthof". Located in the middle of the city's castle district, the brewmaster reasserted his right to brew beer in 1984 and has been brewing traditional beers, such as the original Nuremberg "red beer", on the premises ever since. The copper kettles and wooden fermentation tanks offer a great backdrop at the foot of the Nuremberg's imperial castle.
The "Gostenhof" district on the outskirts of the Altstadt (Old Town) offers an interesting counterbalance to all this tradition. A hip and cool district far away from the mainstream that is still considered an insider tip.
With plenty of weird fashion, offbeat home design, unique textiles, tempting vintage shops and exclusive master goldsmiths, Gostenhof is a must for devotees of individual treasures off the beaten track.

Start your Nuremberg adventure from one of our two budget Motel One design hotels – great location and great value for money that doesn't compromise on comfort, quality or service – in short, everything you need to ensure a memorable stay in Nuremberg.
