Our hotel in Munich-Haidhausen, centrally located between Ostbahnhof and Rosenheimer Platz, goes to show that all good things come in tens! Visitors to Munich are now spoilt for choice when it comes to our affordable design hotels. Our tenth accommodation in the city, a turquoise oasis situated in one of its most historic, charming areas, has now opened. In the 17th century, Haidhausen was considered a working-class neighbourhood. The area also played a key role in the development of Munich’s famous inn and beer garden culture, since local breweries used the cellar vaults on the upper bank of the Isar to keep their beer cold. The Gasteig, Munich’s cultural centre and home to the Munich Philharmonic, can be found here today, along with Maximilianeum, the seat of the Bavarian State Parliament. So there is no lack of sightseeing attractions within immediate proximity of our Munich hotel.
Pop quiz: why is Haidhausen sometimes called the French Quarter? Sure, the neighbourhood currently features a variety of French restaurants and boutiques. But the real reason is that, in 1872, the streets around the Ostbahnhof were named after victorious battles in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71. This includes the semi-circular Orleansplatz, Belfortstrasse, Lothringerstrasse and Pariser Platz. The area’s French influence and reputation as a hotspot for artists and craftspeople inspired much of the interior design of our hotel, such as the colour scheme, artwork and other charming details. So it’s no accident that our wrought-iron room divider in the lounge is reminiscent of the balconies that frequently adorn the local period buildings. But there’s even more to discover. After tanking up on energy at our organic breakfast, it’s time to head out and explore Munich. Don’t worry, your comfortable room with hot shower and dreamy box-spring bed will be waiting for you when you return in the evening.

To help you plan your tour through the city, we offer free WiFi – and our very friendly staff are always happy to assist you, of course. The centre and Old Town can be conveniently reached from our affordable hotel in Haidhausen via public transport. You have a direct connection to the main S-Bahn line and metro thanks to the Rosenheimer Platz and Ostbahnhof stations. This means that Marienplatz, the Viktualienmarkt, the main railway station and – listen up, Oktoberfest fans! – the Theresienwiese are just a few minutes away. If you are coming from or heading further away, the S-Bahn also connects to Munich Airport. Of course, you can also walk to the city centre along Rosenheimer Strasse. This leads directly across the Gasteig to Isarauen, where you can find the Müller’sches Volksbad – one of Europe’s most beautiful art-nouveau swimming pools. Float on the water in a historical setting, or pay a visit to the Deutsches Museum right across the way.
If sightseeing, shopping or a stressful workday have built up your appetite, our hotel is ideally located. The Haidhausen district has maintained its down-to-earth, cosy atmosphere over the centuries, and is still a hotspot for various pubs, inns, restaurants and bars. The neighbourhood also features events for every season. Auer Dult, on Mariahilfplatz, hosts colourful markets from spring to autumn, while Weissenburger Platz is home to one of Munich’s most popular Christmas markets in winter. The historic Nockherberg, which lies on the border with the Au-Haidhausen district, features the Starkbierfest and a beer garden, and can be reached in just a few minutes by tram or metro. Modern city lifestyle meets Bavarian tradition – blending together in and around our design hotel in Munich Haidhausen. Welcome and Grüß Gott!
