Clean room, comfy bed , great view over the city and right at the train station , price very reasonable for what I got 👍
Very good service at the bar that is important. Also sometimes could be better breakfast but that is difficault.
Lovely stay as always, great location, reasonably priced.
BOOKING: 30th November 2024 Room only : £164 (Via Booking.com) During our one night stay (Sat 30th Nov) in the Glasgow Motel One hotel, there was a fire alarm at 3.00a.m. All hotel guests had to evacuate the building and had to wait outside for nearly an hour in the rain. Our one night stay for my birthday was severely impacted due to lack of sleep. This obviously spoilt our short break and experience of the hotel. I am therefore seeking a refund or complimentary night to acknowledge that we were significantly inconvenienced. I look forward to hearing from you.
Love staying here. Great location. Friendly vibes. Nice decor. Good sized rooms. Only gripe- lumpy pillows on the bed. Other than that- great hotel and nice breakfast.
Was kept awake by other guests room doors banging closed all night long. Fit some soft close mechanisms to the room doors.
Easy booking in. Staff friendly throughout 4 night stay. Room comfortable and clean. Great location next to Glasgow central station with a short walk to shops. Plenty of places nearby to eat and easy to get on the tube to visit other areas around Glasgow.
We were really looking forward to our stay as the hotel bar and reception looks stunning, but our toilet sink would not drain away on arrival (Which we reported) ... We tried the bar but due to a lack of glasses our vodka was served in a half pint tumbler we headed to bed but fire alarm went off around 2.30 am and we had to evacuate the building .... on re-entering we decided to take the stairs up but the manager told us there was excrement on he landing which we had to try and avoid .. the whole experience ruined our long awaited date night. The fact it cost £150 for all of the above means it will be a long time until we can think of returning. Gutted as we had read so many great reviews. Kind regards David
Fire alarm went off during the night, no guidance from staff at all
Very happy with the hotel, we have stayed here a few times when in Glasgow. Unfortunately there was a fire alarm incident at 3am which spoilt our overnight stay, however the staff dealt with the incident in a professional manner and we got back to our room as soon as was possible. We would definitely stay again though as the incident was not the hotel's fault and we like the hotel plus the staff are always very courteous and helpful.
Overall very good but due to fire alert we had to evacuate the hotel at 3 a.m. in the rain.I do not have a criticism of this as this was outside the control of staff. What I am criticising is the lack of information about what was happening, staff not wearing high Viz jackets so that they could be differentiated from guests (and against fire regs) and finally no thank you or comment by reception staff on leaving the following morning.
Beautiful hotel, room was beautifully clean and presented. Staff members were friendly and helpful.
The lobby was really nice and so was the room. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night and the staff was very helpful with organizing, communicating and trying to get guests in their room as soon as possible. The only reason I didn't give a full 10 was because the air conditioning didn't work in my room and there were only about 10 channels on the tv.
I love staying at Motel One but a concerning response following a 3am fire alarm during my stay has marred my experience. I'm a wheelchair user and cannot use stairs, we went to the fire refuge point and pressed the intercom but no-one answered. Had I not had my partner with me who can walk I would have been stranded. When my partner did walk down the stairs to find a staff member they seemed unaware that they had a wheelchair user in the hotel despite my having completed the PEEP form at check in. It was a false alarm but I wasn't able to safely leave the hotel like everyone else. I also did not see an evac chair (although there might not be one on every floor). I always choose a low floor at hotels for fire safety reasons and I'm sorry to say that Motel One has utterly failed in this respect. I always find the staff very friendly and helpful and am bringing this to your notice because I am not the only wheelchair user or person who cannot manage the stairs who stay at your hotels and this is about safety for all of your future customers.
Really enjoyable stay! Very friendly and helpful staff.
Only issue for me was the toilets weren't on the same floor as the bar and reception area. Other than that great hotel and will be staying again. Also no advice was given at check in in regards to restaurant area etc.
The hotel room was clean and well serviced. The European style breakfast is very good. The beds are like slabs of stone. The room is stuffy with the window shut and noisy with it open - a difficult choice. We asked for a quiet room and were told we got whatever the computer selected, tough sorry. The 3am fire evacuation was handled appallingly which I have written separately on. It’s that management which will dissuade me from visiting again.
The room we booked was not ready and we had to get put in a disabled room. This was over 1 hour late. We are awaiting a refund for the difference but have not received this yet. The TV did not work and had only 3 channels.
Our stay was enjoyable on the whole apart from the bar shut early due to lack of stock and staffing issues plus the fire alarm went off at 3am which wasn't ideal
Very happy with my stay, hotel room was immaculate and had everything I needed, very comfortable bed had a great sleep
Lovely design, very classy and element hotel. Rooms well equipped, great size and for the price this hotel exceeded expectation.
Great hotel. Friendly staff and nice bar. Thanks
Lovely hotel spotlessly clean, friendly staff. Breakfast a bit hit and miss, trying to find a table and food layout could be improved. Would have liked better tv channels.Having said that we stay here often and will definitely return.
Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent location (work training venue was 15 minutes walk so ideal). Breakfast very good
Staff went over and beyond
When last orders were called at the bar, the barman served deliberately slowly so he didn't have to bother serving us. Breakfast was a bit naff. No welcome biscuits in room.
Very clean room. Comfortable bed. Bathroom good. Kettle is TINY and difficult to fill from bathroom tap. Paper cups don’t seem to be very environmentally friendly and they leak if you try and reuse them. Very little space to put “stuff” in bathroom! Very poor choice in TV channels. Not even the most basic freeview. No ITV and loads of German channels. I know you are a German business but are you only marketing to German visitors?
Great service very clean hotel
Clean, friendly and good value
Really comfortable hotel with friendly staff in an excellent location. Lots of extra touches that made it special. Well stocked and inviting bar to spend the evening. Some inconsistencies in the green credentials such as disposable cups instead of mugs in the bedrooms and plastic individual butter portions at breakfast. TV guide wasn’t working and ITV/STV not available. Tidy those up and it would have been a ten
I stay here every time I come up for a Celtic game due to its excellent location. The staff are wonderful and it’s a lovely hotel. The disappointment comes from this establishment being tied up in dynamic pricing, this is a £90 a night hotel at the very most yet I’ve had to pay £144 back in September, it’s time the company introduced a loyalty scheme and rewarded people who regularly stay with them.
Staff was very friendly & helpful.was happy to recommend places to eat.The Location couldn't of been better.price was perfect, definitely stay here again.
Favourite Hotel in Glasgow. Perfect location, spotless and staff are always professional and friendly.
I am having a comfortable stay. I did find an almost empty wine bottle near the curtains so the cleaner was too tired to hoover beyond the table. Also the hot water system squeaks loudly particularly when showering in this room.
Very clean staff friendly hotel. Room very small, didn’t like paper cups .
Loved my stay so much! Would not hesitate to stay here again! The room, service, and feel of the hotel was top notch. Thanks for a lovely stay!
we had a one night stay, was a lovely clean hotel, very friendly staff, nice clean spacious room
Very clean and the room was lovely. Got my room around 1pm which was great and ideal for me at the time. I do feel that breakfast should be included in the price.
Excellent hotel for Glasgow Central Station
Very easy booking in process, room excellent at a very reasonable price.
As always I had a wonderful restful stay before my journey. The staff are all lovely whilst maintaining a professional air. Thank you
All excellent/very good but the dimensions of the room, a bit too small.
If I could score zero I would , your night staff which includes bar and security are rude and have no customer service skills , witnessing the ejection of two pensioners for simply having an opinion is shameful
Clean, modern, stylish hotel. Good location right next to central train station. Great value for money. Room was a good size with views of the city. Bathroom shower room very modern. Plenty of towels and very clean. Staff were very polite, friendly and professional at all times. Will definitely use again.
Usually I have a wonderful stay. Sadly this time I got very little sleep due to noise in the corridors from drunk guests as well as loud music coming from a building near the hotel until the small hours of the morning.
I slept so well. Comfy bed and very clean and modern. Never heard a sound from any other room or corridor. Will defo stay again
Value for money on day one but when we needed to extend our stay due to train cancellations (storm Bert) the additional night was just less than double. We feel we were taken advantage of as the following day when the trains were back running, the price reduced dramatically. Both pillows and bed were uncomfortable. Room and bathroom were both clean. Tea, coffee and milk provided in the room.
We had a lovely stay in Glasgow. Kayleigh at reception was so lovely. Very chatty and cheerful. The room was nice and spacious, very clean and comfortable. The pillows were lovely to sleep on. We had a lovely night out in Glasgow then a couple of drinks in the residents bar. The staff there were lovely too. We enjoyed our stay so much we have booked again for next month.
Rooms could have had slightly more storage for clothes
It was good... good service and the room and facilities are very clean. The shower room is amazing. And the location is perfect.

Six reasons why you need to visit Glasgow
Evergreen
The name Glasgow comes from Gaelic and means ‘dear green place’ – more than 90 parks and gardens, such as Pollock Country Park and Kelvingrove Park, are open to the public and are perfect for taking a walk or simply relaxing.
Active
There’s something on offer every day of the year here, from festivals to football matches, art-house cinema to comedy clubs. The music scene in particular is second to none, no matter whether you’re into jazz, hip hop, electro or classical. Designated by UNESCO as a City of Music, it’s not for nothing that Glasgow is home to one of the world’s most sold-out concert locations (The OVO Hydro), which hosts a constant stream of superstars. You can also discover up-and-coming musicians in bars such as King Tut’s or Nice ‘n’ Sleazy. And you can find the Scottish Opera, the National Ballet and the National Theatre here – not to mention the World Pipe Band Championships, which involve nothing less than the world championship title for bagpipes!
Wonderful(ly cheap)
The city has more than 20 museums and galleries, as well as numerous other sights, many of which have free admission – such as the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, which contains one of Europe’s largest art collections, the Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow’s St Mungo’s Cathedral and the Botanic Gardens.
Varied
From climbing in a Gothic church to wakeboarding or winter sports in summer – Glasgow has much more than simply sightseeing to offer. Loch Lomond is also only around 40 minutes out of the city; you can explore the national park on foot, by boat or on horseback. Gourmands can examine the production of Scotland’s national drink by visiting one of the many whisky distilleries, such as the Clydeside Distillery in the middle of the city or the Glengoyne Distillery during a day trip out into the Highlands.
Spruced up
You might see an oversized panda just outside the front door, or an astronaut along the street: Glasgow has transformed into a real mecca for street art. You can discover some of the best artworks by taking a walk along the Mural Trail.
Appetising
Finnieston, in the west of the city, is Glasgow’s designated foodie district. There’s something to suit every taste, from young and cool locations to award-winning gourmet restaurants. By the way, Glasgow is also the UK’s most vegan-friendly city! It’s also got a thriving bar scene: things are no longer simply all about the (still delicious) whisky. Independent breweries have helped to establish craft beers, while juniper fans can look forward to specialised gin bars such as Gin71.
Location and surroundings
A journey studded with design
We have packed everything we need for the styling concept of our Motel One Glasgow: Get on board and enjoy the ride!
Art with heart
The art at the Motel One in Glasgow takes you on a journey through the Scottish Highlands. The photography from artist duo Scullion and Dalziel captures details and impressions of romantic, rugged nature from unusual perspectives. Find more information in our interview and art flyer.
Railway Romance meets design
Situated immediately next to Glasgow Central Station, our affordable design hotel is dedicated to railway romance. The Motel One Glasgow combines the industrial character of train and rail technology with the special sense of adventure that accompanies a journey by train. Be inspired by the detailed artworks by Scottish photography duo Matthew Dalziel and Louise Scullion and take an exciting trip through the history of trains.
Our employees are busy operating the switches behind the reception to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Wireflow lights by Vibia are reminiscent of the shape of tracks and railroad switches. Our One Lounge is also electrifying: the Spectre design suspended luminaires by Quasar create a visual reference to high-voltage power cables, and you can read the timetable for the Central Station on an infoscreen mounted on the stone wall. If you’d like to experience an antique train compartment for yourself, take a seat on the quilted benches.
Shelves and tables transport you to Glasgow’s industrial past with high-quality brass fittings, while Aldo Bernardi wall lamps round off the design concept. The bar takes a more rustic approach: enjoy a view of Dalziel and Scullion’s amazing photography as you sit at the genuine wooden counter and channel the excitement of travelling by train.
Whether you visit us by train, plane or car, you can take advantage of the same comfortable box-spring beds, extensive breakfast buffet and free WiFi in our affordable design hotel that you have come to expect from Motel One. Situated immediately next to Glasgow Central Station, the hotel is not only highly accessible by public transport, it is also the ideal starting point for exploring sights like the Gallery of Modern Art, City Chambers and Glasgow Cathedral. Full steam ahead!
